Address book synchronizer 5.0

I am using the TabSync plugin for Callmanager 4.2 to try and sync outlook contacts with the personal address book on the phone. The PAB works just fine but the outlook sync program on the pc reports that the user login is invaild. Unable to login with configured password. The password given works with ccmuser.
Two questions.
1. Does anyone know what the problem is? I have used the server ip address and not a server name in the sync program.
2. Is there any problems sync with outlook 2003?

I have setup mine. Gave the IP of CCM and port 80, used user CCM user ID and password and it works fine with Windows Address Book.
If you are not an Admin on the desktop you are running from it might not work, I had to run tabsync using my SA account.
It would not work with Outlook when you use outlook with Exchange, check link below..

    Hi Tho Vo,
Unfortunately Address Book Synchronizer doesn't work for Win7 only WinXP.
Some month ago I opened a case to Cisco TAC about this issue, the answer was that for Win7 is not supported. I asked when will be able a new version but they told me at that moment they weren't developing a new version for Win7 .

  • Lync 2013 - Address Book Synchronization Issues for External Users

I recently deployed Lync Server 2013 in my organization. Everything works fine except for the address book synchronizing issues and the mobility access. I would really appreciate if someone could share their knowledge as I have done lot of troubleshooting,
not sure if I have missed something. Please note my setup below for the External Web Services.
    Lync Front End:
    Listening: 8080 4443
    Published: 80 443
I have published my External Web Services URL and the following ports are open: 4443, 443, 8080
When I look at the Lync Client Configuration, ABS Server External URL is pointing to https://lyncexternalweb.domain.com:443/abs/handler. However, GAL Status is still pointing to my internal Front End FQDN: https://internal.domain.com:443/abs/handler.
For machines that are joined to the domain, the address books synchronizes with no issues. For machines that are not joined to the domain and for external users, GALContacts and GALContacts.DB files are not event generated for the users profiles.

    Hi Anthony,
    Please note the findings below:
    1. I was checking the Lync Client configuration on one of the PC that is not joined to the domain, still on the domain network via site to site VPN connection. I noticed that the Connected Lync Server varies: sipinternal.domain.com, sipexternal.domain.com,
lync.domain.com (Pointing to the Edge Server IP).
    2. Edge Server External Settings: Single IP address with the FQDN set to lync.domain.com for all 3 services and the following ports configured. Access Edge Service: 5061, Web Conferencing Edge Service: 444, A/V Edge Service: 443 with NAT enabled public
IPv4 address. I have checked the replication status between the Front End and Edge Server, it is up to date.
    3. In regard to the https://lyncdiscover.domain.com, I don't have the lyncdiscover.domain.com published, but it is pointing to the NAT enabled public IPv4 address which is assigned for A/V Edge Services.
    4. For the port forwarding, I am using the Cisco Meraki router.
Please advise if there are there is something that I am missing.
    Thanks!

  • How to find synchronization schedule of Address Book

I've setup Address Book to synchronize with Google contacts. On the initial setup I can see the synch take place immediately, the Address Book is populated with the correct data. However, when I add a contact locally, within the Apple Address Book, it takes a undertermined amount of time to synchronize with the Google contacts (and vice versa: Google Contacts -> Address Book). The  record created within Address Book does eventually arrive but it takes somewhere between 5 minutes and a few hours. Within Address Book there is no force synch, there is no synch schedule to set, nor can I find a log anywhere that tells me how or when this is happening. I've looked elsewhere for something that might do synch or a scheduled task (it's not a cron job).
So my question is then: can anyone tell me what performs and determines the schedule of Address Book synchronization? Ultimately, I'd like to adjust this to a frequency that I set.

The source sync file information for AB is kept here:
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources
You also have a preference file for AB syncing:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBookSourceSync.plist
You also have a ByHost preference file for AB syncing:
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.AddressBook.sync******.plist
I'm not sure what you can do with that info. Even though the preference file has a timestamp and the ByHost file has date and time info, i don't see anything such as a time interval that can be changed. That may even be set by a different file. I don't have the technical knowledge to tell you.
For AB to send new info immediately (not knowing the time interval), quit AB and restart it. It should update all info. If not, uncheck the sync option in AB prefs, the recheck and reinput the username and password. That should create an immediate sync.
But I doubt that it will force google to update any changes. Maybe I'm wrong, so try it.
If you could change the time interval, it would probable be done with one of the preference files. The syncing login and setup is intiated in AB preferences to communicate with google. Google may not initiate the sync action, but I'm sure it has a time interval that the server will make changes.
I have used this in the past for Yahoo, and Yahoo's information said that syncing may not occur imediately and could take some time for changes to take effect. It's been a while since I used it, so I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was basically to the tune of "they will do it when they are ready".
So even if you could get AB to send changes every 10 seconds, it does not mean that google's server will update it immediately.
My experience with Yahoo is sometimes it would do the changes within 5 minutes and other times it took many hours for the change to take effect. So, it's not any different than you are experiencing with google.
I eventually quit syncing to Yahoo's site after I started using iCloud. After my email got hijacked through Yahoo, I just decided to removed my contacts completely since they can't keep it secure. Also removed everything from Google site. Tired of my AB being stolen and used for spam. That's the second time this year they got into the website account and stole my information.
I just keep contacts on my computer and iCloud now where I can better protect my information.

  • .Mac and address book different

My .Mac and address book have never been synced properly.
I show 922 contacts in my address book,
and 821 in my .Mac adresses.
I thought it was because you have to have a phone number typed in
the address for it to sync to .Mac, but I have contacts in
my .Mac addresses which don't have phone numbers.
Any idea why these are never the same?
Using OS 10.3.3 and iSync 1.2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Paul,
Go to your .Mac address book and click on Preferences. Uncheck the "Turn on .Mac address book synchronization" then click Save.
Then go back and turn it on again and it will resync. Your .Mac address book should now match your desktop Address Book.
I had the same problem you are having at one time. I contacted apple customer support and this is what they recomended to me and it worked.
    Hope it works for you.

  • Contacts disappear from address book but in messages

    Hi,
I have an iphone 3g which I had unlocked by the network in Australia and have since moved back to the UK.
Since placing a UK sim card (o2) in the iphone whenever I add a new contact to my phone book, it does not display in the Phones contact list. However it does show if i search under my messages, and I can then make a call to the number this way.
A slight but not idea work around is to call the number and then add it to my favorites in address book. Does anyone know why this is happening ? I thought it maybe saving on my sim but have since read that iPhones cannot write to the sim.. Thx

So in fact Address Book synchronizes with iCloud only, not locally on the Mac.
And when I sync with iPhone, it syncs with the Mac and not with iCloud.
No better way t have non updated Address Book.
I suspect this is another Apple ID mess. Apple resembles Land Rover here (never could properly
update my Address Book in my GPS contacts from my iPhone)

  • 'Mail app' + .Mac + address book

Is there a way to add an e-mail address to the .Mac mail address book without adding my entire address book as it would if I did a sync?

When I go to .Mac>address book> I get a page with a the address book icon & the double round arrow that reads ".Mac Address Book Synchronize Contacts". Below that is an OK button.
I don't even get the Preferences for the Address Book that you're speaking of. Might be that this is a new .Mac account and the addresss has never been used?
Are you talking about adding a contact button that might pop up when you receive and e-mail? As does Gmail & Yahoo when you're opening mail? There is a button that allows you to add that contact to your address book.
Why I asked was that it appears I'm not getting messages from friends or family to the new .Mac account that I did in the old account. In Gmail & Yahoo mail you can add a contact one by one without importing your entire address book. I wanted their addresses there so that the new .Mac mail account wouldn't mistake their addresses as Spam.
Guess maybe what I'm trying to do isn't possible?

  • Defining a default recipient email address in Address Book

As far as I can tell, there is not an explicit way to define one email address as a default, if more than one are associated with a contact in the Address Book.
Some things I have tried or considered include:
    (a) using Edit>Edit Distribution List, selecting All, and selecting defaults (doesn't work),
    (b) creating hundred of separate groups for each of the hundreds of contacts with multiple email addresses in my Address Book, and using Edit>Edit Distribution List to select the default email to use for each group (lots of work, lots of clutter, hard to maintain),
    (c) adding the default email address twice and using the one that appears twice in the list (the duplicated email address only appears once in the list that appears when addressing an email),
    (d) deleting all email addresses except one (with associated loss of data),
    (e) cutting and pasting all non-default emails to the Notes field (with associated loss of recognition of those addresses by the junk filter and inability to use them to send emails),
    (f) copying the default email address to the Notes field, and always sending email by opening Address Book, finding the recipient, noting the default email based on what is in Notes, right-clicking the matching email address, and choosing Send Mail (yuck),
    (g) defining a custom email type called "default" to flag the default email address (loss of information about whether default email is Home/Work/Other, does not show up in Mail, does not export to Bento, does not export to FileMaker Pro through Bento),
    (h) exporting Address Book data from Bento to FileMaker Pro, manually adding a flag in FileMaker Pro to indicate the default email address, and always sending email by opening FileMaker Pro, finding the recipient, and sending email from the default email address (must constantly re-synchronize Address Book data with FileMaker without proper keys, difficult to maintain),
*(i )* giving up on Address Book, and send all emails from a FileMaker Pro database (with loss of Address Book synchronization capabilities, difficulty in adding new email addresses from Mail, etc.).
It should not be this hard to accomplish such a basic task.
    1) Is there a direct way to flag one email address as default that I have missed?
    2) Does anyone have any other workarounds or tricks that might work?
    Thanks,

This "feature" of Entourage doesn't "just work"; it works only in the context of what the Entourage programmers have designed, and not what Apple has thought of designing into their system applications. Expecting them to be the same is a fantasy.
Whether or not a feature "just works" is defined by a user's experience. When you view a list of email addresses for a contact in Entourage address book, one of them is bold (the same visual feedback that Apple uses when selecting a default email address for Groups). Adjacent to the email addresses is a button that says "Make Default". If you select a different address and click this button, the new email address turns bold, and the next time you address an email to that contact it is automatically selected when you type enough of a contact's name. It probably took me no more than 30 seconds to figure out the first time I saw it, and it automatically selects the correct default address (the one I told it to use) for years without further intervention by me.
In my experience this feature just works, without regard for which company the programmers work for, even though it "works only in the context of what the Entourage programmers have designed", despite the fact that Apple programmers didn't think of it, and without needing to compare it to any other program.
    Mulder wrote:
You can't do that, as long as you have multiple addresses stored in Address Book for each contact, and they continue to send you email from various email addresses. Mail and Address Book share information, so when you type enough of a contact's email address to find it in Mail, you can select it as the email address to use, but not as a default, since you already have multiple email addresses stored from these people.
I am fully aware that I can't select a default address in the current version of Address Book. But it is preposterous (and a bit insulting to Apple programmers) if you are suggesting that the programmers "can't do that, as long as you have multiple addresses stored in Address Book". In fact, they have already done it for groups. They were also smart enough to find an intuitive way to control the default sender email and default signature for users who use multiple email accounts and signatures.
    Mulder wrote:
If you delete the others and tell them not to email you except from the one address you want to use, that would solve your problem.
That is what I meant by the tail wagging the dog (changing the behavior of not only me but multiple people in my Address Book to get around a missing software feature).
    Mulder wrote:
No, you didn't choose it years ago before Mail existed. Mail has existed for over 20 years, and from Day 1 of Mac OS X, so the idea that Entourage preceded it is nonsense.
Nonsense might be a little harsh. In 2000 I compared several email clients before deciding to go with Entourage. This was a year before Mac OS X was released in 2001. That was when I first heard of Apple Mail, and at least according to Wikipedia Apple Mail was derived from NextMail rather than from previous Apple development. I was using System 6 in 1988, and if Apple had an email program back then I was not aware of it (that is about the time Eudora was first written). I also do not remember running into it when I was in charge of selecting an email client to install on all of our departmental Macintoshes in the early 1990's.
At any rate, what I said was "I chose it years ago (before Mail existed) because...". In other words, my point was that my decision to use a Microsoft email program was made before Apple Mail was an option for me to use on my Macintosh computers.
Mulder wrote:> If you want to make your views about Mail or Address Book known to the engineering team at Apple, you can send them Feedback.
Thanks. I gave up on providing feedback to big companies like Microsoft years ago, but I will give it a try with Apple.

  • Address book entries disappear after MobileMe synchronization

    Morning.
I've installed a clean MacOS X 10.6.8 installation from the scratch. I've found in the Address Book my own visit card and Apple's visit card. Then I've set to sync with my MobileMe account. After that I've set that MobileMe synchronization should replace all items on my local Address Book with the item stored in my MobileMe address book.
The result is: The items previously shown in Address Book disappear. The Address Book is completely empty. But in ~/Library/Application Support/Addressbook all the contacts are stored in the database and all the images as well. This is what ls -al has found:

Any idea how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance and kind regards,  Friedrich

Over the last few months I've had entries disappear - just one or two here and there. For a long time, I thought I was imagining things. But today I went to make some calls to my family and I did a search for the family last name. Only two cards came up... about 16 cards were missing. There's no way I deleted these. Fortunately, Time Machine saved me, but I didn't find the cards until about a week back, so they've been gone for a while (guess I don't call the family often enough).
My only guess is that there's some sequence I'm performing that ends up deleting a card (you know, something like editing a card, then switching to mail, then switching back to ABook and doing a search or something like that). But since I don't know when I've done it, I can't seem to track it down. I'm worried about vanishing data ... And unless I actually notice that it's vanished, I can't recover it, even with Time Machine.
I haven't had all my cards disappear - this is just an isolated few. Anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts?

  • Unable to synchronize the Address Book on the BB Device with Outlook Software 2010 Contacts

    Enviroment :
    Device Black Berry Bold 9700
    Back Berry Device Software V6
    Cause of problem :
On the BB Device there are 2 Adress Books with the same name.
The first one with 109 elements and the flag for wireless synchronization
The second, which is of most importance to me since it includes my business address book, contains 1837 elements and does NOT have the flag for wireless synchronization.
Whenever I  try to synchronize the BB Device with the PC , using Black Berry Device Software on my Windows 7 based PC and Outlook 2010 Application Software, only the first Adress Book appears active.
I tried to solve the problem through the BB Support Forum (see link below)
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB1...
and regretfully I found out that no solution are available so far.
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
The suggested Work Around doesn't work.
Since both address books could be cleaned but not erased, it is impossible to delete the first address book and subsequently synchronize the right data .
I tried to synchronize the BB Device with the Windows contacts but the result is the same: the synchronization works only for the first (small) Address Book.
Another bit of info, to worsen the situation: last week the HDD (internal disk) on my PC crashed, therefore I lost all my data; as a result, the only correct Address Book  data available is inside the Black Berry device (larger list, which is the second, as stated above) , thus I absolutely need to recover all the 1837 addresses included, since they are vital for my business work.
I need your help to solve this situation caused by an evident Black Berry Software bug.
    Thanks in advance

I do not receive any suggestions to solve my problem.
After 6 month the problem is very urgent, my business address book is vital for my work.
I have only the copy on the Device Black Berry Bold 9700 and I absolutely need to have a copy of the address book on my computer.
Do you have solved the bug.
I need a quick answer and a final right solution
    Thanks

Nuts isn't it. This seems to have been an issue snce dAY 1.  iT FROSTS ME THAT THERE IS NO SIMPLE QUICK WAY TO UPDATE OR CORRECT the data in both programs simultaneously.. Thats why i decided to just put everytning into the i cloud address brook, and let the one other sit and rot.
then i got smart and said, why don't I delete the outlookaddress book files. and save on confusion.
result - both addresses books  and their contents became invisible to outlook.!!!!!! and I can find no way to correct this...to go back to the imperfect world that was.
I did get the outlook contact s back from an archive - but any thing from icloud has become inaccessible from outlook.  (fortunately i can get the vcard infformation directly from icloud. but I can't access it from outlook mail.... means no replying, forwarding etc - and a time swallowing nuisance..

  • How to synchronize address book

    Hi,
I was wondering how i can synchronize between my two comps. One is running an old OS (10.3.9). I don't have a .mac account (and can't get one at the moment) so how can I synch my contacts in address book on a regular basis.

I think some third party solutions can solve your problem, here is one, just found it on VersionTracker : http://www.slamslash.com/address-o-sync

  • Problem with synchronization of the Address Book

My problem is in the synchronization of the Address Book:
if I add or delete a contact in the iPhone or nell'iPad, syncing, iTunes tells me that there will be a change in the address book, but then in the Address Book on my Mac the new name does not exist or, if I deleted, remains .
If I make a change (eg. Put an address or a birthday) in contacts of the iPhone or iPad, iTunes tells me that I'm editing the Address Book, but then the change is not in the Mac
The strange thing is that after the synchronization, if I delete the new name or the variation in the iPhone or iPad, iTunes tells me again that it is making a change on something in the Mac Address Book I can not see, but which evidently is somewhere, but does not appear for whatever **** reason.
On the contrary, working on the Address Book in Mac, synchronization is successful, and devices that I feedback positively what I added or removed from my Mac
The synchronization of iCal instead occurs regularly in both directions.
    MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo
    OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8
    iPhone 4 16G
    iPad 3 16G
    All applications updated
    I do not use iCloud

    Hi Krishna,
The only solution I can think of displaying the doc inside the portal content area is to create a document iView, embed this iView in a role and then in the link use:
http://<server>:<port>/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://<PCD Location of the iView inside the role>
But that is not very short.
