Address Book won't sync with Google Contacts

I enabled Google Contacts syncing in Address Book but nothing ever happens. There is no button in the toolbar or anything. Any ideas?

The background gsync service is broken in 10.6 There are two errors that I will post letter(not at my mac) but needless to say. 1: The task scheduler(launchd) is not lading the job. (It should load the gsync and run it every 15 minutes or so.) 2: Manually running the gsync process from a terminal generates a second error and the contacts never sync.
As a minor workaround you can change your iPhone to use the new Google Mobile Sync (http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=apple) but this doesn't help with the OS X address book.

  • Address Book no longer syncs with google contacts

After my switch to Lion, I'm noticing that my address book no longer syncs with my google contacts??
After I update my contacts in address book, it doesn't show up on google contacts and vice versa.
    Is anyone else exprienceing this?

    ¡¡¡Ok, Something worked for me!!!
I have my address book empty, and then this is what I did:
1- Copy Address book app to downloads (or other folder) just to back it up
    2- Install AppCleaner
3- Drag and Drop address book ap into app cleaner, make sure that it references to several files (all .plist files etc.) If there are no external references then try to drag and drop your backup, do it until you see the rest of references (uncheck address book widget)
4- After press clean in AppCleaner, it will delete everything.
5- Put back your address book app backup into your applications folder
6- Open it and if your are lucky you will see all the contacts again, they were like hidden....
Then I deleted all the contacts again and set up google account in preferences again, after that it syncs fine!!!
    Good Luck!

You should have signed in with that address in the first place, but there is a workaround: go to System preferences>Mail, Contacts@ Calendars and add your @me.com address as an account there.

  • Is there a trick to forcing Address Book to update/sync with Google?

I cannot figure out how to force Address Book to update / sync with Google. Every time I go into Address Book preferences and check the box for Google synchronization and type in my information it shows that it is connecting. But the contacts do not update. Then when I close Address Book and open up preferences again, the checkmark for Google synchronization is gone. This happens on my Mac Pro tower and also on my MacBook Air -- both are running OSX 10.6.4. Any ideas?

Try opening up iSync in Applications. Go into preferences and make sure the "Show in Menu Bar" option is selected.
Then you can click iSync in the menu bar and tell it to Sync Now. Might help?

  • My Address Book won't sync with iphone anymore...HELP!

My Address Book won't sync with iphone anymore. After installing the latest update for iphone, my address book no longer syncs with iphone and vica versa. Anyone had this problem? Can you help?

Yes, I've done that plus have tried syncing selected contacts and also ALL. Still won't work...

  • Address Book won't sync with contacts on mobile.me anymore

I have a iMac 5,1 with MacOSX 10.6.4, mobile.me and an iPhone (4.0.2). For many, many years I have had Address Book which quite happily was in sync with the more recently acquired Contacts in Mobile.me. But now, my Address Book isn't syncing with Contacts. And the Contacts on my mobile phone syncs with the Contacts in mobile.me rather than with Address Book. I've tried all sorts of combinations of syncing to no avail. Can anyone please tell me how to ensure that Address Book syncs with Contacts in mobile.me and I would want Address Book to overwrite Contacts. The huge ongoing number of duplicates is another problem but there are many threads I can see that will help me solve that problem.
    Thanks

I am having this problem, too. Gmail is my mothership, all the contacts and groups are hosted there, I just want to pull it down to my iMac and my MacBook.
The process seems to work fine on the iMac, but I sync an iPod to that Mac almost every day. I do not sync a device to the MacBook, and it does not get Address Book updates. I feel strongly that the mobile device plays a role in the sync. I will try to sync an iPod to the MacBook, and see what happens. This is a valid test, but I am not willing to erase my iPod every other day just to keep my Address Book up to date on my laptop. This should work better.
I wish there was a tool for contacts like Calaboration. Calaboration makes my iCal sync both ways to Google, and works breath-takingly well.

  • Address Book can't sync with Google

    Hi,
I've been trying to sync my contacts with Google Contacts for the past two days, but I can't seem to make it work. It keeps saying "Incorrect Account or Password", but it actually doesn't even connect to Google (I used Cocoa Packet Analyzer to sniff the traffic and no packet was sent).
If I login with a different user, however, it just works.
I've already tried deleting my Address Book preferences and application support folder, it doesn't fix it.
And BTW, when I reset Address Book and launch it, at first it's empty, but after a few seconds it automagically (don't ask me how) recover my contacts. I've got an Address Book archive on my desktop, but I presume it shouldn't be loading it without asking me, right?
Any help would be much appreciated as I'd rather not move everything to a new user account just to make syncing work. Thanks!

Upgraded to Snow Leopard and I was experiencing this problem. Checking with Gmail help @ http://www.google.com/support/contactsync/, it says "If you enter your email address and password correctly, but the password isn't being accepted, try repairing your keychain". I tried to repairing my keychain twice, no problem found and the error message remains. I turned back maybe 15 mins later, guess what, it talks to google and the password accepted, now I am able to sync Address Book with Google. Hope this helpful to you!

  • Address book won't sync with mac

I know several people have had similar problems and I have tried their fixes but this problem isn't quite the same either.
I have 2 iphones both 3G (one with a broken screen!) and I want to sync new address book data with G5 for new phone BUT....iphone (with broken screen) has "all contacts" (with duplicates etc but I'll sort that later) and "From my mac" and "mobile me" as groups. However the mac only has the "from my mac" ones. which means there are a difference of around 100 contacts essentially stuck on the iphone in the "mobile me" and "all contacts" groups neither of which appear on the address book on the mac. These contacts are not syncing with mobile me either so can't sync that way.
It seems this is the opposite problem to most as my info stuck on my iphone not on my mac!
Realise I am using old OS which means that mobile me doesn't work fully. But iphone / itunes software up to date. Have tried variouses isync fixes inclusinf resetting sync data with no luck.
    Any thoughts much appreciated.

I hope its OK to join my problem to this Post...
I have a very similar problem, where all my contacts were delete from my computer Address Book and transfered (not sync) to the iPhone.
    Is there a fix...
    Thanks

  • Address Book fails to sync with Google

I am presently syncing my macbook's address book to my google contacts - and this has been working perfectly well up until about a month ago. If I made a change on my android based phone, the changes appeared on gmail contacts - as well as my macbook address book. Any changes from my macbook appeared on my phone - life was great. I recently discovered that my macbook address book was not receiving changes, or updating gmail with any changes. Address Book > Preferences > Accounts > all options were deselected. I selected Synchronize with Google > Configure. I enter my account Google Account and Password and the only thing that happens is "Connecting to Google..." - and that's where it sits. I did a bit of research and found that things were working prior to a MobileMe upgrade - although that is a rough estimate of the last time things were working. I've repaired permissions (as suggested somewhere,) verified my mac is up to date (10.6.6 - and no updates available,) configured MobileMe to sync the contacts only (changes appear correctly on the mobileme site. If I select the Synchronize with Google checkbox and don't attempt to configure - still won't sync. Not sure what else I can do?

I'm also experiencing the exact same thing.... Can't seem to figure it out.

  • IPhone 4 address book won't sync with MacBook Air

I've been Googlin' my butt off, and called support three times (in which they won't help me because they say it's an iPhone issue)... Anyway, just purchased a MacBook Air; and my iPhone contacts will not sync with the address book.
Any help would be amazing.  Thank you very much!

    Hey,
So I kept looking for another answer and found this answer in another thread:
"It is called "sync" for the reason it not called a transfer.  It wants and is designed to "sync" make each other match.  If it deleted all on the phone it is because you just had zero contacts in the address book on the computer (which on first sync is considered master copy).  If you put one dummy contact into address book on computer then try to sync it will see it needs to "merge" to get the sync process coordinated."
I tried it out and it worked.  I originally already had one contact in my address book, but it was me and apparently I don't count as a human being, so I added the dummy contact and it worked after I clicked 'Merge'. Hope it works for you too.

  • Address book won't sync with the web

I noticed that my online address book had duplicate entries for most of the entries, so I deleted everything and went to re-sync with my iBook. Despite multiple attempts, the online address book is blank. My address book application on my iBook syncs fine with Entourage, but no longer syncs online. Suggestions? Thanks.

  • Address Book Won't Sync with my iPhone 3 Anymore

I am unable to get the information in my AddressBook to sync to my iPhone 3. I did not have this issue earlier this year when I was using this same phone with my current computer. I am aware that this seems to be a problem for a number of users and I have tried a number of hard resets, combined with restarts of my computer and iTunes, installing iSync, and deleting my Sync history. Nothing seems to work.
I also have an iPad that syncs through iCloud and is not having any syncing issues. I am wondering if the iCloud syncing is blocking with my iPhone 3 syncing through the USB cable to iTunes. Also I just took an unlocked phone to AT&T to have it added to our mobile phone plan and when I got the phone back it was locked. I don't think this is the issue but mention it just in case. Also given what iTunes 11.1 did to podcast syncing, I am wondering if there could be an issue with iTunes 11.1.1.
This is so frustrating, spending hours trying to fix what would seem to be a simple issue. I am sure that if I had an Apple store here a genius could resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Address Book won't sync with iPod

When I try to sync my Address Book to my iPod I get an error message something like "Your Address Book is empty. Would you like to open Address Book and start entering some contacts?" If I click "Yes" Address Book opens and all 600+ of my contacts are there in living color.
My iCal calendars all sync to my iPod just fine.
Now here's the interesting part. If I back-up my Address Book and import my contacts into another Mac (I used a MacBook Pro for this experiment) and then connect my iPod to the other Mac, then sync my Address Book, all 600+ contacts sync to the iPod perfectly.
What is going on with my Mac that is NOT allowing the AB sync? Are there some preferences I need to trash or something?

I have had same problem since I got my nano 2 months ago. At least with latest firmware update, when you DO see Contacts they contain their complete Notes! I have tried using iTunes sync to sync my full AddressBook with 900 entries, but this routinely failed to load any more than 600 entries with message saying so. Calendar has been even more problematic until I created a sub-view of my full calendar with just the prior 1 month and future 2 months event entries; then at least I could see the Calendar - but NEVER after immediately a sync, only after i reset the Nano. And finally I have used iPDA (ZappTek) to transfer News, RSS feeds, Weather updates for cities, & selected Documents and these too transfer completely (as inspection of the iPod as Disk shows), but needs a full reset to get them to show. Even then when you first highlight the "Notes" menu option you see it display "No Notes" but then when you click/select it, it starts "Loading them with a counter: sometimes the count is complete, sometimes it "aborts" and then you can only see some of the notes you loaded. I view this as a bug. I believe that the Nano is indexing these entries and either completes it or aborts, for an unknown "bug" reason. The ZappTek developer suggested there is a definite RAM (not storage) limitation in the Nano which prevents the Nano from handling very large sets of entries, but I should think a software update might be able to fix this by not trying to load everything at once.
    Hope this helps.

  • Address Book won't sync with MobileMe - inconsistent data!

I recently began getting 'Inconsistent Data' messages when I sync with MobileMe for my Address Book. I have always had an auto sync and never had this issue. I am told to reset the MobileMe data from another computer - which I have tried to do but with similar error results.
My most recent data is on MobileMe...I have so far failed to sync this data set with what's on my Mac Platforms.
I have tried to resort to merge data or erase data on this computer from the sync options dialogue box, but still end up with "inconsistent data. Try resetting your data on MobileMe".
I'm afraid that if I did that, then I will lose all my current data on MobileMe - which is the most recent, since most of my input for my contacts is made directly from my iPhone or iPad (both of which are syncing correctly).
    Anybody have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem but have not been able to get my computers to sync with contacts although my iphone and Ipad are working perfectly. I tried deleting all my contacts in both mobileme and locally and tried to sync but was unsuccessful and still get the inconsistent data message. I hope someone can help us.
