Address Book won't sync with .Mac address book

When I attempt to sync the address book contatcs on my Powerbook with .Mac, after much spinning and churning, it get the error message:
"An inconsistency was detected on .Mac for your Contacts data. You may want to reset .Mac from a computer with good data."
This is the ONLY computer with this contact data. There is no other computer with "good data" to reset .Mac from. I have 776 contacts on this computer and it is my work base. .Mac only has 103 contacts. Sereiously, this is not a joke. You must be prepared to fix your gross errors with this software.
.Mac sync is probably the worse software implementation on the Apple platform. It has wiped on critical and important data on many occasions my cell phone and my wives Motorola phones. Getting errror messages such as these are alarming and terribly distressing. Where have Apple's standards for quality gone?

You must be on OS X 10.7 in order to use iCloud.
OS X 10.7 (Lion) is available in the App Store as a digital download. It is $29. Best practice - be sure to make a backup copy of your computer before upgrading any software.
After you download and install 10.7 Lion, you will have an iCloud icon in System Preferences.

  • Palm Vx won't sync with Mac Address

I am trying to sync my Palm Vx with mac address book. Changes or entries made in the address book show up on the Palm but changes or entries made on the Palm don't show up in the address book. Everything else syncs just fine.
The conduit settings read as follows:
    Voice Memo: Synchronize
    Note Pad: Synchronize
    Memo Pad: Synchronize
    Media: Synchronize
iSync Conduit: See Conduit Settings (Enable iSync for this Palm device is checked)
    Install: Install Files

I'm not sure what I need to do. Any suggestions.

  • Address book won't sync with mac

I know several people have had similar problems and I have tried their fixes but this problem isn't quite the same either.
I have 2 iphones both 3G (one with a broken screen!) and I want to sync new address book data with G5 for new phone BUT....iphone (with broken screen) has "all contacts" (with duplicates etc but I'll sort that later) and "From my mac" and "mobile me" as groups. However the mac only has the "from my mac" ones. which means there are a difference of around 100 contacts essentially stuck on the iphone in the "mobile me" and "all contacts" groups neither of which appear on the address book on the mac. These contacts are not syncing with mobile me either so can't sync that way.
It seems this is the opposite problem to most as my info stuck on my iphone not on my mac!
Realise I am using old OS which means that mobile me doesn't work fully. But iphone / itunes software up to date. Have tried variouses isync fixes inclusinf resetting sync data with no luck.
    Any thoughts much appreciated.

  • IPhone 4 address book won't sync with MacBook Air

I've been Googlin' my butt off, and called support three times (in which they won't help me because they say it's an iPhone issue)... Anyway, just purchased a MacBook Air; and my iPhone contacts will not sync with the address book.
Any help would be amazing.  Thank you very much!

    Hey,
So I kept looking for another answer and found this answer in another thread:
"It is called "sync" for the reason it not called a transfer.  It wants and is designed to "sync" make each other match.  If it deleted all on the phone it is because you just had zero contacts in the address book on the computer (which on first sync is considered master copy).  If you put one dummy contact into address book on computer then try to sync it will see it needs to "merge" to get the sync process coordinated."
I tried it out and it worked.  I originally already had one contact in my address book, but it was me and apparently I don't count as a human being, so I added the dummy contact and it worked after I clicked 'Merge'. Hope it works for you too.

  • Address Book won't sync with contacts on mobile.me anymore

I have a iMac 5,1 with MacOSX 10.6.4, mobile.me and an iPhone (4.0.2). For many, many years I have had Address Book which quite happily was in sync with the more recently acquired Contacts in Mobile.me. But now, my Address Book isn't syncing with Contacts. And the Contacts on my mobile phone syncs with the Contacts in mobile.me rather than with Address Book. I've tried all sorts of combinations of syncing to no avail. Can anyone please tell me how to ensure that Address Book syncs with Contacts in mobile.me and I would want Address Book to overwrite Contacts. The huge ongoing number of duplicates is another problem but there are many threads I can see that will help me solve that problem.
    Thanks

I am having this problem, too. Gmail is my mothership, all the contacts and groups are hosted there, I just want to pull it down to my iMac and my MacBook.
The process seems to work fine on the iMac, but I sync an iPod to that Mac almost every day. I do not sync a device to the MacBook, and it does not get Address Book updates. I feel strongly that the mobile device plays a role in the sync. I will try to sync an iPod to the MacBook, and see what happens. This is a valid test, but I am not willing to erase my iPod every other day just to keep my Address Book up to date on my laptop. This should work better.
I wish there was a tool for contacts like Calaboration. Calaboration makes my iCal sync both ways to Google, and works breath-takingly well.

Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen.

  • Address book won't sync with the web

I noticed that my online address book had duplicate entries for most of the entries, so I deleted everything and went to re-sync with my iBook. Despite multiple attempts, the online address book is blank. My address book application on my iBook syncs fine with Entourage, but no longer syncs online. Suggestions? Thanks.

  • Address Book won't sync with MobileMe - inconsistent data!

I recently began getting 'Inconsistent Data' messages when I sync with MobileMe for my Address Book. I have always had an auto sync and never had this issue. I am told to reset the MobileMe data from another computer - which I have tried to do but with similar error results.
My most recent data is on MobileMe...I have so far failed to sync this data set with what's on my Mac Platforms.
I have tried to resort to merge data or erase data on this computer from the sync options dialogue box, but still end up with "inconsistent data. Try resetting your data on MobileMe".
I'm afraid that if I did that, then I will lose all my current data on MobileMe - which is the most recent, since most of my input for my contacts is made directly from my iPhone or iPad (both of which are syncing correctly).
    Anybody have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem but have not been able to get my computers to sync with contacts although my iphone and Ipad are working perfectly. I tried deleting all my contacts in both mobileme and locally and tried to sync but was unsuccessful and still get the inconsistent data message. I hope someone can help us.

  • Apple TV not seen on ITunes; Apple TV won't sync with Mac anymore

The Apple TV no longer shows up on Itunes and when I get Apple TV to show up on the devices list on Itunes after putting in the secret code, the Apple TV says it is syncing to my Mac when in fact it is doing nothing.
I also noticed that while the Apple TV is trying to sync, I no longer see the different types of files to sync. I just see "Other" and I no longer see photos, movies, and audio.
I have tried syncing the Mac to the Apple TV overnight twice and still not a single file gets transferred to the Apple TV.
I upgraded Itunes to version 8 and I upgraded to MacOS 10.5.5 too.
    Please help.
I have also tried streaming content from the Mac to the Apple TV and it now says the format no longer is recognized.

    scififan wrote:
Right now it says it is syncing but at the bottom it says Other and Free.
That indicates there is no content on the tv.
    It is syncing not streaming.
Yes but it doesn't sound as though it is syncing any content, it could just be syncing/updating the library database file.
This syncing happens randomly but nothing is transferred to the Apple TV. While it is trying to sync, I don't see Movies or Video or Audio at the bottom just Other and Free.
This is what you would see if it was syncing the database file.
When you turn off itunes, do you have any content on the tv you can watch.

  • Contacts won't sync to MAC address book

I just bought a new macbook pro and have been attempting to sync it with my 3GS. Everything works but the contacts. I can't get the iphone contacts to appear in the mac's address book even though everything is checked in itunes?

    Hi,
Try Resetting the Sync History from the iSync applications Preferences window, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030

  • Address Book won't sync with iPod

When I try to sync my Address Book to my iPod I get an error message something like "Your Address Book is empty. Would you like to open Address Book and start entering some contacts?" If I click "Yes" Address Book opens and all 600+ of my contacts are there in living color.
My iCal calendars all sync to my iPod just fine.
Now here's the interesting part. If I back-up my Address Book and import my contacts into another Mac (I used a MacBook Pro for this experiment) and then connect my iPod to the other Mac, then sync my Address Book, all 600+ contacts sync to the iPod perfectly.
What is going on with my Mac that is NOT allowing the AB sync? Are there some preferences I need to trash or something?

I have had same problem since I got my nano 2 months ago. At least with latest firmware update, when you DO see Contacts they contain their complete Notes! I have tried using iTunes sync to sync my full AddressBook with 900 entries, but this routinely failed to load any more than 600 entries with message saying so. Calendar has been even more problematic until I created a sub-view of my full calendar with just the prior 1 month and future 2 months event entries; then at least I could see the Calendar - but NEVER after immediately a sync, only after i reset the Nano. And finally I have used iPDA (ZappTek) to transfer News, RSS feeds, Weather updates for cities, & selected Documents and these too transfer completely (as inspection of the iPod as Disk shows), but needs a full reset to get them to show. Even then when you first highlight the "Notes" menu option you see it display "No Notes" but then when you click/select it, it starts "Loading them with a counter: sometimes the count is complete, sometimes it "aborts" and then you can only see some of the notes you loaded. I view this as a bug. I believe that the Nano is indexing these entries and either completes it or aborts, for an unknown "bug" reason. The ZappTek developer suggested there is a definite RAM (not storage) limitation in the Nano which prevents the Nano from handling very large sets of entries, but I should think a software update might be able to fix this by not trying to load everything at once.
    Hope this helps.

  • Address Book won't sync with Google Contacts

I enabled Google Contacts syncing in Address Book but nothing ever happens. There is no button in the toolbar or anything. Any ideas?

The background gsync service is broken in 10.6 There are two errors that I will post letter(not at my mac) but needless to say. 1: The task scheduler(launchd) is not lading the job. (It should load the gsync and run it every 15 minutes or so.) 2: Manually running the gsync process from a terminal generates a second error and the contacts never sync.
As a minor workaround you can change your iPhone to use the new Google Mobile Sync (http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=apple) but this doesn't help with the OS X address book.
