Address Field and Replying

When I reply to an email that has included my kids email accounts as well as my own, Mail will decide to make the reply 'From' one of their accounts instead of mine?
Why is this and how do I correct it so when I reply it is from me, not one of them?

This is a repost of what I posted last week and is similar:
Hi, here is another person this has been happening to me between my Apple account & my wife's email only account. My situation & preference information is same as zentra's & Dan's....
Recently I was at a Apple store (One To One) and they also said they never heard of it but when I mentioned to a few of my Mac friends and they have it also. It is now happening almost daily with my wife retired & home using the Mac and it is irritating her when her friends reply to me
Gene
Additional info - I have 3 accounts within the Mailbox, to the left with triangles, mine is 1st, my wife's email only account is #2 and a Verizon mail account 3rd (used for web surfing, subscriptions, web shopping etc). Many times she will send out a email to her friends via reply that is in her email account ONLY and it selects my account and therefore they will reply to me!
We try to check the drop down dialogue box but not always successful when answering numerous emails. I have researched it and can find NO pattern and it is extremely annoying as it wasn't always this way until we noticed it about 12 months ago. Again the Genius folks at 2 different Apple stores just look at me and say it doesn't happen!

    Hi,
I have requirement , where I'm supposed to check for a Comma (,) in an address field and send tht (,) as blank space to the workarea.
Do we have any FM or any check method for this.
    Plz tell me.

    Hi,
      say address fields is "v_addr"
    DATA : v_len TYPE I,
               v_cnt1 TYPE i,
               v_cnt2 TYPE I value 1.
    v_addr = 'adresss,fiedls '.
    v_len = strlen( v_addr ) .
    DO v_len TIMES.
         IF v_addr+v_cnt1(v_cnt2)  EQ ','  .
             v_addr+v_cnt1(v_cnt2) = ' '.

  • Request to eliminate blank address fields (ie: BLOCK) in Ship To & Bill To

When configuring the Address Formats (Setup>Business Partner), if the Street field is selected for line one of the address field, the Block field is selected for line two of the address field, and City is selected for line three of the address field - and the Block field is blank (which happens quite often) then the address field created by SAP for printing on documents will have a blank line on the second row of the printed address.
Most customers do not like this (some even go to the extent of modifying the address to remove the blank line); therefore we would like SAP to include some logic that would eliminate the blank line if the BLOCK field is empty.
Do other partners have the same issue?

Thanks for your reply.  The issues that our customers complain about are the way the addresses print in the standard PLD documents, which all use the pre-formated block of text that SAP creates.  Unfortunately there is no way to change this text block.
A couple of years ago, as per your suggestion, I attempted to create my own special text block by concatenating the various address lines, but then I ended up with some custom stuff, which is not ideal even if I could have gotten it to work properly - something that I was not successful at achieving.
I think that the proper solution is for SAP to make thier address assembly routine just a little bit smarter by not using the "BLOCK" field if it is empty.

  • How to visit a pasted url in address field?

This may seem a naïve question:
Some background: I have never used Safari before. I have just installed *Safari 5.01* for Windows on my *Windows 7 PC*, and when I *+copy and paste+* an url for a particular existing web page into Safari's address field (which url loads successfully in Firefox, Opera, and IE ), I find I have no *go to* or load arrow, or other means, such as pressing enter or return, to make the browser load the pasted address. When I press Ctrl+L nothing happens, whether from the drop down menu at File: *Open Location...* or as a double keyboard command.
And so I resorted to importing a bookmark for the address from IE, and then Safari loaded it successfully.
Can I not just copy and paste addresses into Safari's address field and have a *+simple next step+* to load the page as I can with IE, Firefox, and Opera ?
I tried typing part of the address in manually for Safari's autocomplete to find it, but it wouldn't find the address, which is very new, but does exist, and as I have said, loads in the other three browsers with a simple paste and enter. This *+copy and paste+* method happens to be a very convenient means of loading some sites, with only one option being available, that is the exact address, rather than possibly several options that are offered up as one types part of the address, which have to be looked at and chosen from.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.
    Thanks … allaniam

*I confirm a similar bug exists on Safari 5.0.2 for Windows, running on a 32bit Windows XP SP3.*
    Description
    1. You copy an URL, not matter how you copy it (copy the URL text, or from another browser address bar, or from a webpage using the contextual menu "Copy Link", and etc)
    2. When you try to paste in the Safari address:
===(i) if you use keyboard shortcut Control-V to paste in the URL, and press ENTER - everything is normal, meaning you will leave your previous webpage and go to the new page with that URL you pasted in using Control-V
===(ii) if you right click on the Safari address bar, invoke the contextual menu that popups from there, and choose "Paste" from the menu, and then hit ENTER after you paste in the new URL:
*======(A) the new URL you pasted in will disappear.*
*======(B) the old URL before your paste, will re-appear in the address bar.*
*======(C) the cumulative effect this operation will be the same that you reload the previous page.*
This is the symptoms on 32bit Windows.
*It seems in the current build of Safari for Win, "Paste" command from a menu denotes something different from its shortcut "CTRL-V".*
This is a very weird thing.
Just for the record, Safari 5.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.4 doesn't share the bug.
*By the way, I have also surveyed the exactly version and build numbers for both the Safari versions:*
    Safari 5.0.2, build 7533.18.5: on WinXP 32bit
Safari 5.0.2, build 6533.18.5: on Snow Leopard.

  • Address field issues

    hi
when i type a persons email in the address field and the auto list of avail addresses drops down i get emailo addresses not in my address book, those same addresses are also not in my in box or sent box, they ARE people who i have once written, but they are gone from in, sent and address book, so why do they still show up?
its annoying to always have to drop down to select the actual person i want to write to
    any hints?
    thanks

If for some reason you aren't finding the Previous Recipients menu item, you can open the Help menu and simply type "previous recipients" into the search field that appears.

  • Address Field Hidden or Collapsed

When I open Safari, the address field (field where you type the url you want to go to) and the Google search bar is missing. It was there one moment, gone the next.
I can get it to show up temporarily by clicking "File>Open Location" but once it goes to the new address, they again disappear.
When I try to customize the toolbar by clicking "View>Customize Toolbar", both the address field and google search field shows up in the normal position even BEFORE I drag a new one of each to the toolbar. Once I drag them and then close the Customize window, the Window goes back to simply showing my bookmark shortcuts in the bar (Bookmark Bar) and the red, yellow and green buttons in the top left-hand corner along with the address of the page I'm currently on.
    Firefox is working fine.
Any ideas, please help. I've read other posts here and don't see an answer to my problem.
    Thanks,
    WCW

Thanks Barry. I had the same problem, and your suggestion worked immediately. I didn't have to re-boot the computer, only re-start Safari.
Before finding your suggestion, I had spent close to half an hour looking through Apple's Safari Help on my computer and online without finding anything remotely helpful.

  • Desktop Mailer truncates address field to 30 characters w/ Lorton NCOA

My database fields include a primary address field and a secondary address field, both with 48 characters maximum length.
After running the Lorton NCOA process using Business Objects Desktop Mailer Extended Services, data in the secondary address field had been truncated to 30 characters.  A Lorton technician assured me that Lorton had not done it, but that it was apparently a problem with Desktop Mailer.
No truncation appears to take place for the primary address field when data length > 30 characters.
Can anyone confirm this behavior and present a solution?

    Harry,
This is actually a limitation of Lorton.  This was included in the users guide for 7.90 on page 124
"When you perform Extended Services NCOALink, DSF2, or ZIP4 processing, Lorton Data returns 48 characters for the Address Line 1 field and 30 characters for Address Line 2 u2014 except in the case of move-updated records. If your Address Line 1 field and Address Line 2 field are set up longer than 48 and 30 characters, respectively, data in those fields will be truncated, and you may lose data. Move-updated records receive a total of 48 characters split between Address Line 1 and 2."
We are working with Lorton hopefully change this in the future.
    Thanks,
    Kendra

  • Version 20 upgrade breaks built-in search field, prevents some users from typing in address field!

After upgrading to Version 20 from 19.x, I (and users at our site) find that certain core functionalities of the Firefox browser are broken. These include:
Search Engine Field - doesn't work and cannot add a preferred search engine
Cannot go to a new URL - type a complete URL (ie: Google.com) into address field and will not go to that site! Established bookmarks work unless...
Cannot visit sites that employ self-signed security certificates - no option to accept the certificate
I am a now-former beta tester who quit because of the issues listed above - issues I reported. Now, as the update is installed at our site, increasing numbers of users find their browser is broken. I have no advice for them except to use IE or Chrome!
Please help us and Mozilla and push out a fix!

The URL typing issue is a bug in Firefox 20 with Some windows Server Environments. We are currently working on it and hopefully will have a fix rolled out in the new few days.

  • TO and REPLY TO fields replaced by recent email client address no matter what I do. Help please?

I own a yahoogroips list and keep the emails since 2009 in a MAIL folder.
A new member at the list with whom I am chatting ON the list, joined 2 days ago. HER email address is now appearing in place of the list address in the TO and REPLY TO fields.
It has replaced those fileds in ALL the emails in my folder from 2009 top now!
Also when I try to address an email to the list address, it automatically gets replaced with the new memebr's email address.
That is so even if I disable auto copleting of addresses.
I can type the list addresws, but as soon as I leave the TO field of the new emails, the address changes to the new memebr address.
PLEASE - HOW did this happen - and HOW do I  get it to UNHAPPEN?
MANY thanks for any advice, it is driving me bananas.
(THe list is in urgent use for medical emergency discussion re animals)

  • Yahoo! Mail Plus and Reply-to address

I am a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscriber, and am able to send emails with various verified addresses, when using the Yahoo Mail Web interface.
My account serves as a collection point for primary mail (which originally goes to a spam service, and in turn is redirected to Yahoo Mail), and some other redirects. I then can check all mail here, and reply with various Reply-to addresses, which are what the recipients see.
But in iPhone Mail using the YahooMail set up, I am only able to specify the default yahoo address, which I never use as a visible "reply to" address.
Does anyone have a fix or suggestion how to solve this?
    Peter in Munich

There's a setting in your "Mail" settings that says "show To:cc label". I have that turned ON.
Now, when I go to an email, and reply to it, I can just Tap the "cc/bcc/from" field with my finger, and it suddenly expands the cc, bcc, and from fields onto their own lines.
The "from" field is now editable.
Touch it, and you get a nice list selection to send 'from' any of your configured email accounts.
    Does that work for you?

  • Reply-to Address Field - Permanent entry?

Does anyone know if you can set up a permanent address in the "reply-to" field of mail? I am having my corporate email forwarded to my .me account and it seems like a pain to always have to re-enter my corporate address in that field. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I would love to have this feature too but there is no way to do this in Mail.
with some email providers you can do the following. in mail prefernces->accounts in the e-mail address field you can add another email separated by a comma from the first one. then when you create an email you'll have a choice in the "from field". I think it defaults to the fist email listed there so you can put your corporate email in front. However, some smtp servers will reject such an email if the "from" address is not from their domain and you won't be able to send it. I believe .mac is one of those but you should check.

  • When I enter a group name into the Bcc field and try to send the message, I get "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address..."

Been using the same template to send a weekly newsletter for a year or two but now with a recent update to Thunderbird the group name is rejected when I try to send the message:
With a group name in Bcc field, when I press "Send" and try to send the message, I get this alert: "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail."

This has been reported as [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1060901 Bug #1060901]. If you have an account on Bugzilla, please consider voting for that issue.
Several other people have sent in the same support request as you, noting this happened after they upgraded to version 31.1.
The exact error message is: XXXX is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail.
'''This happens in Thunderbird 31.1.0 when your mailing list description includes several words separated by spaces.'''
Although not ideal, these workarounds should let you use your mailing lists until a proper fix is implemented:
    * While composing an email open the address book and select the list you are trying to send to, highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This uses your existing data without modifying it.
    * Replacing the blanks " " between the words in such lists' descriptions with an underscore "_". This requires modifying your mailing list(s) description(s).
    * Downgrade to a previous version and disable automatic updates (Windows)

  • Help with parsing a text string in address book and moving it to 'related person' field

I am wanting to make a little applescript that will go thru my contacts and find data in the NOTES field and parse it slightly and move it to another field.  (sorry if parsing isn't the right word here)
The data to be found is a GPS coordinate with this EXACT format:
    <Lat:12.345678><Lon:-12.345678>
...the only thing different from this example is the digits, and the number of digits.
What I want to end up doing is deleting this data from the NOTES field, but leaving any other data, (this part sounds difficult to do to, to me!)
And moving it to a related person field with the label gps, and the coordinate now reading exactly:
    12.345678,-12.345678
(FYI, you can copy/paste a coordinate like this very fast into the maps app on iPhone and locate it instantly)
Thanks for the help on this
If this is too complicated I can break up the process into steps.  I know how to do some of it, but not sure about the parsing, and then delete just part of the notes field...
    Thanks!

    Hi,
This script work here, try it :
    tell application "Address Book"
repeat with thisContact in (get people)
set tNote to note of thisContact
if tNote is not missing value and "<Lat:" is in tNote and "<Lon:" is in tNote then
                set {GPS_value, newNote} to my getGPS_coordinate(tNote)
if newNote is not "" then -- no error
set gpsField to (related names of thisContact whose its label = "gps")
if gpsField is not {} then
set value of (item 1 of gpsField) to GPS_value
else -- field "gps" is empty
                        make new related name at end of related names of thisContact with properties {label:"gps", value:GPS_value}
                    end if
set note of thisContact to newNote
                end if
            end if
        end repeat
        save
    end tell
    on getGPS_coordinate(this_note)
set oldTid to text item delimiters
        set {tLat, tLon, newNote} to {"", "", ""}
        try
set text item delimiters to "<Lat:"
set tLat to text item 2 of this_note
set text item delimiters to "<Lon:"
set tLon to text item 2 of this_note
set text item delimiters to ">"
set {tLat, tLon} to {text item 1 of tLat, text item 1 of tLon} -- get values (lat... and long...)
            set text item delimiters to "<Lat:" & tLat & "><Lon:" & tLon & ">"
set this_note to text items of this_note
set text item delimiters to " "
set newNote to this_note as string -- delete GPS coordinate in this note
        end try
set text item delimiters to oldTid
        return {tLat & "," & tLon, newNote}
    end getGPS_coordinate

  • Copy/Paste doesn't work in Address Bar and Smart Search Field

Yeah, that's true. Say, I copied a sentence from a site. When I try to paste that sentence into 'Smart Search Field' and press 'Enter'. It doesn't work! Same thing happens when I try to paste a URL into Address Bar/Smart Address Field. What's going on? Anyone else having this problem?
PS - In case you're wondering what 'Smart Search Field' is, here's a pic http://images.apple.com/safari/images/features-search-smartsearch-20090528.jpg

Yes, I've got that too. It's not clear why it hits some people and not others. Haven't seen any commonalities among the reports that I can tell at the moment.

  • Is there any ways to make Mail app show prefix and suffix in the address field?

I apologize for any inconvenience that my poor English may cause.
I would like to ask if there is a way to make Maill app show prefix and suffix in the address field.
This is, in my culture, very important, especially for formal situations. When I call someone such as professors, bosses, I should put prefix after their names to show my respect. In Microsoft Outlook, there is a field called 'Display as'.
    http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/contacts/contact-address-book-options-settings/
Therefore, I can choose how the name will be shown in my messages. For example, Prof. Kim instead of Kim. However, as far as I know, there isn't such options in Mail app. Is there any way that I can modify the way of displaying names in the address field in Mail app?

As far as I can determine, that is only how you see the email address, not how it is sent.
You can set up Prefixes and Suffixes in Contacts using the Add Field submenu of the Card menu:
If you use the Edit Template... command, you can choose to always have the Prefix and Suffix show on new cards.
However, I don't think Mail uses anything but First, Last for addressing emails.
You can override the behavior by manually with:
Prefix First Last Suffix <[email protected]>
