Address labels splitting cards

I am trying to print mailing labels from my address book, but it keeps splitting the cards in two and printing one label with the name and street address and a second label with the name, city and state from the same card. How do I fix this?

How do I create a new user account without losing the current account data?
Simple.
1. Go to System Preferences->Accounts and unlock the preferences if necessary with your password.
2. Click on the '+' sign at the bottom-left of that window and give the account a name like 'Test', along with a password; give it Admin privileges if you like.
3. Quit System Preferences, and logout of that account (Apple menu->Logout <Your Name>.
4. At the Login window, type in the name and password of the account you just created, setup Mail and Address Book as I described previously, and test for this behavior in this account.
Post back with results.

  • I need help entering ALL of my addresses for Christmas card address labels on my new iMac.  Whats the best way to do this?

Anyone have any tips how to get started with address labels?  I went to my address book, but it looks so time intensive.  Can I mail merge addresses I put into a excell spread sheet to print labels??

Don't waste your time with formatting in any of those programs - creating two pages for cards, blah blah blah.
The best way to mail merge on a mac is using address book.
People think merging got harder, but apple made it easier - more intuitive. You don't merge mailing labels through a word processor - you do it through the program which houses the addresses.  If the addresses aren't in address book yet, that's a snap.
First, go to your program/file with the addresses (pages, numbers, excel, etc.). I think it's easiest to use numbers.
make sure the column headings are set to Mac Address Book Standard Names - that way you won't have to spend too much time mapping them in address book. (if you're not sure what those are - open address book and just a view a card/record, or open pages or numbers and search in the help menu for the term "merge field names" and it will give you a list. They're pretty simple - things like "First Name" "Last Name" "Street Address" etc.
For christmas cards, I add an extra column under the heading "Note" and input "Christmas Card List" for every record.
Once your data is formatted with the correct column names, export the list to a csv file.
Open Address book in mac and import the list - make sure the columns match up with the correct fields.
It might ask if you want to overwrite or update - that's up to you.
If you know your christmas card list has the most recent address info, hit update.
Once the import is done it should take you to the front page for the address book in which you'll be given the choice to view Icloud addresses (if you sync those) and also the Last import. Any groups or smart groups you have will show up in the list too.
Click on Last import - make sure all the addresses and names you just imported are there. If not, something went wrong - go back and check your import field mapping. If all's good, keep rollin'. (it helps to scroll to the bottom of the import list to get the count of imported records)
Here, you can do one of two things - create a group or a smart group.
For a regular group - Highlight all the records on the right panel in your last import, then go to file > new group from selection. Rename your group christmas cards or something like that.
I prefer to create smart groups.
For that, goto file > new smart group. You'll come to a filter window. Click on the first drop down box and scroll to "Note." Then in the second drop down box choose "is" and in the third and final input box on the right, enter the text from the note column you created in the address list file. I used "Christmas Card List".
That will create a smart group, such that any time you enter a new address or contact in the address book with the note field that equals "christmas Card list" it will automatically be entered into this group.
Either way, you're only one step away from labels.
With that Christmas Card List selected in address book, go to print. When the print dialogue box opens, make sure to click on the button for show details toward the bottom left. That will open up your choices for style.
Under "Style" click on mailing labels.
Under "Layout" choose your label layout (i use avery 5160). It will show you a picture of the label and you can tell if it's the right one.  You'll also notice the labels are being merged correctly, with one address per label, rather than one name for the entire page - like if you try to do this through pages.
    Print away.
    Hope that helps.

  • What does it take to get a simple Return Address label from HP?

Yes, I have a defective printer. I got the replacement printer the other day. I was told I had 15 days to return the defective printer back to HP. They gave me an e-choice card to use to buy the replacement printer online. I received the replacement printer on Thursday. Well the last few days have been a joke. I contacted online chat support and the guy told me that I would be getting an email with the return address label within 24 hours. That was Thursday and I never got it. So yesterday I talked to someone on the phone. After 15 minutes I was told I would be getting and email within 24 hours with the return address label. Well guess what that never happened. What a nightmare it has been dealing with this defective printer for the last week. I won't get into what happened before the return address label situation. What the heck do I do without a return address label? I am not paying to ship it back to HP. If I don't send the defective printer back within 15 days my credit card will get charged for the replacement printer I got. It is like pulling your hair out to get anywhere with HP. I am about sick of it.

  • Addressbook - printing full page address labels

Here's a helpful tip for those trying to print Avery label sheets of the same address using the included Avery printing function in Addressbook: (ie: 80 of the same label on a single 5167 sheet)
    Create a group.
Create a new card with the address etc...
Select the card in the second column.
    Copy.
Paste 9 times, to create a total of 10 identical cards in the group.
    Select All.
    Copy.
Paste 7 times to create a total of 80 cards in the group.
    Print.
Select save as PDF from the Print dialog.
With this document, you should now be able to print full sheets of address labels from Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Hi Rodger_
Thank you for the additional information, it was helpful.
I was speaking with one of my colleagues and we would like you to try the following steps. Once you have completed the steps please try printing again.
    1)    Please reset your printing system, I have included a document on how to do this. Please be aware that this reset deletes all print settings and pending print jobs from your Mac.
    2)    In the "Printers & Scanners" please click on the '+' and choose "Add another printer or scanner from the options (see screen shot)
    3)    Choose your Laserjet CM1415fnw and at the bottom where it says "USE" please change it to the HP Laserjet (see screen shot) instead of AirPrint

  • Wonky Address Labels ?

I am about to give up the idea of ever finding a native Mac OS application for addresses and just keep using the 10-year old Parsons Address Book Windows software that I currently run using Virtual PC. It may be clunky and it may be creaky but, by golly, I can almost always get it to do what I want. And I can’t say the same about Apple’s Address Book … or about any other Mac address book that I have found.
I have been trying to use Apple’s Address Book to print a decent address label for a week … off and on. And I have not been able to get the software to behave. All I want to do is to print spouses in a reasonable form; say “John and Mary Smith”, when they share the same surname or “John Smith and Mary Jones” if they do not. I would also like to be able to include their children … preferably on a second line, but on the same line as the parents, if necessary.
Apple’s Address Book seems to have a mind of it’s own; it prints pretty much whatever it wants on an address label. Sometimes spouses print correctly, sometimes not. One time it printed the father correctly but skipped the spouse and two children, while printing the third child as though she were the spouse. It even has tried to give me “John Smith and _______“ as an address label for an unmarried person.
I visited this forum several times and reviewed recent messages with similar topics. One related suggestion was to use Easy Envelopes at:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27679
This looks good for the primary person, but evidently will not help get the spouse or children on the label. Another suggestion was to ‘type’ both names (John and Mary) into the first name field for the primary person. This would work, but also does not handle children. Anyway, I am not about to do this for the 250 or so married persons in my database where all these entries have separate names for the spouses (not separate cards, but completed spouse fields).
So I decided to export the database, put it in Excel, and do some column merging to get a one-time solution to my label-printing problem. That didn’t work, either, but I will post my exporting problem in a separate message.
After all this, I searched, once again, for a Mac OS address book program. There are several out there, but none allow custom address labels or have reasonable import/export features.
Any suggestions for customizing and printing labels with Apple Address Book would be welcome.
I suppose I can continue to use my old Windows stuff on Virtual PC … even though opening VPC just to get to address book software seems like a bother …
C’mon, Apple. Fix your Address Book turkey!!

Yes, it's possible to create address labels in Pages from date in Numbers. A bit tedious though, because you will only get one Numbers record (row) per Pages page. To make a full sheet of address labels you would need to arrange your Numbers table to have multiple addresses per row in your table, as many as there are labels on your printed sheet. Then you have to create all the links.
My preference would be to print the labels from Numbers directly, by creating a table in the arrangement and size of your label sheet and programming it to reference the database that resides in another sheet and table in the same document.
The official solution is to import your address data into Address Book from Numbers and print the labels from Address Book. If I were to do this, I think I would make a new user account so that I could have an Address Book dedicated to this project.

  • Printing "child" names from Address Book on address labels

When I put selected "child" names on Address Books entries and try to print address labels including the kid's names, they don't appear. Example: I add "Jim" as a child name to an Address Book entry for Mike Jones. I try to print the Address Label: Mike Jones and Jim. Jim will not print. "JI" will print. "Jimm" will print. Anybody else have this problem? What's going on?

    From another thread:
If you have a spouse or child listed on contact card it will print them all on the mailing label IF the first name of each person is unique to your entire address book. For example, if the contact is John Brown and the spouse is listed as Susan Brown and the child is listed as Chester Brown, the expectation is that the label would print as:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
This assumes that there are no other contacts in your address book with the first name of Susan or Chester. However, if, for example, you have another person in your contact list named Susan (the last name could be anything), Address Book will print:
    John and Chester Brown
This is because Address Book looks at all the first names in your contact list and if it sees a first name that is also listed in one of the spouse or child fields then it looks to see if the the other contact shares the same address as the contact you are trying to print. If the address is the same, then it prints properly on the label. If not, then it doesn't print on the label. So if you have two Susans - Susan Anderson and Susan Brown - Address book looks at the address on each card and determines that Susan Brown has the same address as the contact you are trying to print (John Brown) and therefore prints her name on the label.
So, to make a long story short, if you want consistent and predictable results when printing your labels you should assign a unique card to each person that you want to appear on the label and make sure that the individual cards have the same address listed on each. So, in the above example, there would be a card for John Brown, a card for Susan Brown, and a card for Chester Brown. On John Brown's card, Susan Brown would be listed as spouse and Chester Brown would be listed as child. Print John Brown's card and you should get:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
Although this makes logical sense, it's not incredibly intuitive and not very well documented by Apple. I was hoping they would enhance Address Book in Leopard since this seems like a feature that a lot of people would use around this time of year. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time around.

  • Trouble Printing Address Labels

I using the Canon Pixma MG 2120 printer.
I'm using Hallmark Card Studio 2012 with Avery 5160 trying to print a page of 30 address labels.
The Canon printer is making me print one label at a time even when I set it to print 30 labels.
My previous printer printed the 30 labels all at once.
Printing 1 label at a time is time consuming.
Do I have something set incorrectly? Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Hello Dawter.
Most Avery labels provide instructions or recommended "template" options to use when printing their labels.  Please check to see if an information slip or sheet was included with your labels.  This would give information on what label template to use.
If you continue to have difficulties, you may have to print the labels from a different program such as Microsoft Word.

  • How do I print Avery address labels?

Is there any easy way to print a page of return address labels using standard Avery sizes? Does not appear to be an option in Pages. I can do it in Word, but would rather not use it.
    TK Hayes

I figured out a way to do this using Address Book without resorting to Word or Print Shop. What I did was select the contact I wanted to use to print return address labels -- the same address printed on a page of 30 Avery labels (8160) -- and drag it to the desktop. I selected the resulting vCard on my desktop, clicked the right mouse button (CTRL+mouse-click if you have a one-button mouse) to get the context menu, and selected "Duplicate." I duplicated this one vCard 28 times. I then imported the 29 vCards back into Address Book, but I chose "Keep Both" when the Duplicates warning asked me what I wanted to do. I made sure to check the box "apply to all." I then selected these 30 contact cards (all of the same contact), and selected "File / Print" from the menu bar. In the Address Book area of the print dialog, I selected "Mailing Labels" from the Style pull-down menu. Then I clicked on the Layout tab and selected Avery standard and 8160.
In order to save myself the trouble of having to do all this over again, I selected Save to PDF from the PDF drop-down menu at the bottom left corner. That way, I can print out these return address labels any time. After all that, I deleted the extra 29 copies of the contact.
I know this wasn't as easy as doing it in Word, but if you don't have Word and don't want to buy extra software, this is how to do it with a standard installation of Mac OS 10.5.

  • Printing Address Label

I am wanting to print address labels for Christmas that only show the Husband, Wife and Last Name. ie. John and Mary Smith along with the address. IF I have the children's names shown in "Address Book" inside of John and Mary's contact information, the label prints out ALL of the childrens' names as well. ie. John and Mary Smith, Larry, Susan, Todd, Ann along with the address. How do I just print the husband and wife's name and address without all the children's names?

    Tony Frank wrote:
I don't see what you mean "they don't print." The Other name IS printed when printing Labels, but in the form: John Smith and Mary.
Figured this one out - it will print AS LONG AS THE LAST NAME IS THE SAME. So "Test Case" and "Mister Test Case" as spouse works; Joe Smith and Kathy Harris as spouse does not. Apple apparently is supporting the patriarchy in that regard.
In any event duplicating a group is as easy as copy/paste.
Simply select the group in the Group column, Copy, then Paste. The group is copied with the original name "- Copy". Presto! All the cards are duplicated.
Right, but this does not eliminate the labor necessary to edit individual cards to correct for the problem noted above - the vast majority of my cards are not simple same-surname pairings, so most of them will have to be corrected by hand. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and do it knowing that it will be a one-time investment.

  • Need help Printing Address labels from Address Book

I have a new iMac using OS X.4 1. I want to print address labels for Christmas cards. 2. I want to print several address labels of the same information for return address labels. I can't seem to figure it out. I've read the Help. I don't see where to put the # of labels per page. I created a Directory with only one name it it (so it would print several times on one page.) I selected Avery Standard - label 5162. Under label I selected Distribution List. I seem to be missing something.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I wanted to do the same thing. The only way I was able to do this was to create a new group, then enter my name and address 30 times (the number of labels per sheet on Avery 8160). Then I was able to print as many sheets as I wanted. The bad news is you have to enter 30 times, the good news is once you done it you can print as many labels as you need. good luck

  • Contacts - print address labels for a family instead of several individuals - i.e. "Smith Family" instead of Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith

    Greetings
I'm trying to print out address labels for Christmas cards. Is there a way to print out one for an entire family instead of everyone separately as individuals? For instance, I have a separate entry for Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith. I'd like to print out one label that is for "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" or "Smith Family."
Is there a way to do this? I suppose I could just do a company that is "Smith Family", but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
    Thanks!
    John

I think you may want to export your contact list to Excel (or Google docs) or another format where you can edit the list (remove names, change fields, etc.).
Once you have a clean list that has all the names in a clean format that you want to print onto the labels then you import that spreadsheet or document into a program that has label making abilities and a mail merge feature.
What type of labels are you using?
There are several label programs out there that have mail merge capabilities and labeling support.  I am happy to provide some recommendations once I understand your needs.

  • How can I print address labels from numbers spread sheet

How can I print address labels from numbers spread sheet

    CAB,
The 5163 template has the following dimensional specs:
    Dimensions & Info
    Length: 4.00000"          Height: 2.00000"
Top Margin: 0.50000"          Bottom Margin: 0.50000"
Left Margin: 0.18000"          Right Margin: 0.18000"
Hor. Spacing (gutter): 0.14000"          Vert. Spacing (gutter): 0.00000"
Intended Use: Mailing Labels, Shipping Labels, Address Labels
There's a great vendor site with this data readily available, better than the Avery site in my opinion. But, you can get the same info in the Contacts Print dialog pane.
You can grab a template matching these dimensions from that vendor site, Copy the table after opening the Word Template in Pages and drop the into a blank Numbers Sheet.
I found that Sheet side margins of 0.15" worked better than 0.18. For some reason the table wanted to flow to the next page to the right with 0.18". Turning off the Headers and Footers and setting Top and Bottom Margins to 0.5" worked well. These adjustments are made in the Sheets Inspector.
So, that will put the template you specified into a Numbers document and you can print labels properly aligned from there. Since your problem statement is a bit lacking in detail, that's all I can offer you at this point.

  • Is there a way to have all addresses in a card included in a group?

    Hi all,
I'd like to create a group that includes ALL the addresses in each card in the group. Is this possible?
I know I could break up each address in a card into separate addresses, but this seems to be an inefficient way to work.
    Thanks

Hello Blumer... Um, so are you saying that you want to be able to make a group on an address card so that you can send a single email to all in the group at one time? That would be fun..My old classmates I had sent a huge email send to- one email to all, at once- and the stupid ISP said hey no spam. I said they are my friends! But- something about the way I did it they said looked spammy... My apologies for not having the answer... A genius is sure to venture along..and I too will be alerted when the answer comes- that is why I had to interject a question to you. Peace.

My ex-boyfriend stole my email address and credit card information to make purchases with Apple and now my Apple ID has a balance. Is there any way I can retract the purchases so I don't have to pay for his theft? I had no idea he had done this until I tried to sign in to the ITunes store and found all his information and a whole bunch of song purchases. I had to go to my email and reset everything. I only have a 2.10 balance due to him, but I just want to find out if there is a way to erase it because of this circumstance.

You need to immediately pull credit reports to see what else he has done.  Then "freeze" the credit report at all three agencies.  That way even you need to lift the freeze to add credit cards or other credit items to your SSN.
