Address list service failed to respond error on Exchange 2007 (after adding first 2013 server)

Hi,
We just installed an Exchange 2013 server within an Exchange 2007 environment.
The Exchange 2013 (CU6) server will be used to setup a hybrid connection with O365, and move mailboxes to O365.
After installing the Exchange 2013 server it isn't possible anymore to create/enable mailboxes on the Exchange 2007 server.
We end up with an error :
Mig1 TestAccount
Failed
Error:
The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error.
Exchange Management Shell command attempted:
Enable-Mailbox -Identity 'domain.be/customer/TEMP/Mig1 TestAccount' -Alias 'mig1' -Database 'Exchange2007\SG01\DB02'
When executed via EMS we receive this error :
The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error

Hi Lyncer
This error can be caused if the default Public Folder Database not being pointed to the exchange 2007 database which you are trying to create a new mailbox.
Also it can happen if System Attendant service is not running.
Troubleshooting steps:
1) Restart the System Attendant Service
2) Point the affected database to the default public folder
Follow the below steps to do that
Open EMC
Go to Organization Configuration > Mailbox.
Select the mailbox database that you want to change the default public folder database.
Right click the database and select properties
In <Mailbox Database Name> Properties, click the Client Settings tab.
Next to the Default public folder database box, click Browse.
In Select Public Folder Database, select the public folder database from the list of public folder databases, and then click OK.
Cheers!!!

  • AV failure... "Failed to respond" error

Been suffering from this "failed to respond" error for attempted video connections for some time now. Never quite got a solution for it. I have a PB 12" and iMac mini routed at home through a Netgear WPN824 unit, and now adding a MacBook. We could AV chat at home b/n the Macs (no big deal) but just can't get a connection outside with my in-laws. We used to be able to do this successfully under an earlier version of 10.4.x, but this "failed to respond" error has plagued us for the last few 10.4.x OS versions.
I am just wondering if the Netgear router is an issue? Would a Linksys unit be the solution? Can anyone with a similar experience report whether the issue is somehow related to Netgear's implementation?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ralph,
    Thanks for your comment.
Somehow I'm very curious about this "did not respond" problem.
Especially since it is a problem that occurs not concistently.
It seems that it works now and then (ichat av), and very often it works
stable for quite sometime. Then suddenly the "did not respond" issue is back again and nothing can be done to fix it. When you try later (without changing any settings) it is working like it should again. So I would call it non-repeatable.
The problems started when osx updated to 10.4. I know it is not an elegant solution but the effort is minimum and the previous os is stable under any circumstance. Any idea when Apple has a fix for this, it is an Apple software problem. Can imagine it would save guys like you lot's of time and brainpain.

    Hi Jan,
Welcome To The Apple Discussion Pages.
That is one solution. Normally it is for devices
like the Zyxels that for some reason does not like
iChat on port 5190 or for modems that Port Forward
AND specify Protocols leading to conflicts when port
    5190 needs TCP and UDP.
As the original poster is connecting what looks like
three computers to the 'Net now he would be better
served by Port Triggering or UPnP.
As it is a Netgear it may need UpnP turned Off and On
twice before it works properly (Netgear quirk). If
he is using Port Triggering we will need to check the
    setigs he has.
Defcom has Netgear DG834 variant that works. I have
    a Linksys (Router) that works.

  • Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) Failed to start error.

Hey guys, Louie here, I seem to always get an error installing the new iTunes on my computer. My computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 so there should be no problems there. I also surpass the minimum requirments. When I begin installation, about 2/3 of the way done, it gives me an error stating "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) Failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services." Now, I dont have a clue whether this related to being comptuer Admin, because I already am. The options I am given are:
Retry - Just attempts again, wasting another 15 minutes and fails, giving the same error and options.
    or
Cancel - Completely ends the installation and uninstalls my precious iTunes.
Wondering if any of you IT experts have a solution to my problem. Thanks alot.
    Louie Infusino

that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
    leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
    iTunes 7.3.2.6 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time?

  • Reports Service failes with 186 error after Disco4i Admin install.

    OS NT 2000
    DB 8.1.7
    9iAS 1.0.2.1
    Disco Admin 4.1.33e
Everthing was working fine until the install of Disco4i Admin. It would error on the install until I stopped the Reports Service. Post install - The reports service failed to start. NT specific error 186.
I've performed a TNSPING80.EXE myserver & verified the TNSNames.ora configuration in 806, iSuites, and 8.1.7. Everything looks ok.

If you have set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable or registry key to an alternate value, Oracle9iAS Reports Services may fail to start with an error 186 or REP-0186. In such a case, you can start Oracle9iAS Reports Services from an MS-DOS command prompt as follows:
    prompt> setenv TNS_ADMIN <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/network/admin
    prompt> <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/reports60_server start
replacing <IAS_HOME> with the directory where you installed Oracle9i Application Server. This will force Oracle9iAS Reports Services to use the tnsnames.ora file at <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/network/admin.
    Hope this will help

  • "Failed to Respond" error

Ok I am sharing internet with 3 roomies on a basic Linksys router, and want to connect with my family back in Miami. They are also on a wireless router, Belkin I believe. Anyway, everytime we try it says it can't work because "I failed to respond". Not sure what this means.
I really appreciate any help, it's very annoying that I can't get this working and its a big reason why I bought my mac.
    Thanks a lot.

I have experienced the same problem. I am temporarily in Qatar and trying to initiate an audio or video chat with family in GA and WI. On my end it says I failed to respond, on their end it says I cancelled. When my family in GA intiates the conference I can join, but cannot with either party in WI. Sorry I did not hekp you but hopefully we both will get some help. None of us are sharing the internet but all are on wireless nets within our residences.

  • Errors Decommissioning Exchange 2007 Server

We are attempting to decommission an Exchange 2007 Server (single server). We have already gotten 2010 set up, installed, mailboxes moved and public folders moved. We went through and removed the replicas on the old server as well as removing the mailbox
    database and public folder database.
From this point we are attempting to Uninstall Exchange 2007 using either the Wizard or through cmd using setup.com /mode:uninstall after navigating to the Bin folder in the Exchange server. Each time however, we get the same error regardless of how we are
    doing it.
We uncheck all roles, hit Next, and it fails during the Readiness Check within 10 seconds on each role (Mailbox, Client Access, Hub Transport) each time saying: 'An error occurred while running the test. The Computer may be out of Memory, or the XML files
have been modified. Parameter name: ConfigurationFileLocation'
I've gone through using ADSI Edit and removed the server from the Configuration>Services>SiteDomain>Administrative Groups>Exchange Administrative Groups>Servers
and it was none existent in the Databases section.
Even after all of these steps I'm still getting the error about the memory or XML file issue. Is there a way to replace the XML files with 'clean' ones or a way to repair the existing ones? I'm just simply wanting to uninstall it at this point.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. It is not recommended to uninstall Exchange server in ADSIEdit.
    2. The above error indicates that one of the xml files is corrupted, you need to re-download it for troubleshooting.
Hope my clarification can be helpful to you.

  • Exchange 2007 EXCDO 8206 error in Exchange 2007 SP2 with Rollup 4

    Dear sir,
We have a problem on Exchange 2007 Server. When user use OWA to access web mail calendar, server event log will show EXCDO error 8206:
Calendaring agent failed with error code 0x8000ffff while saving appointment
    Type: Error
    Event ID: 8207
    Category: General.
Moreover server becomes working in very slow web mail response during any user click web mail calendar.   Server performance return back after error message appeared  in event log.
It doesn't has problem if using Outlook to access mailbox calendar.
Any suggestion to fix it ?
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
We are also finding the same issue with getting that EXCDO error. The problem stemmed when users noticed some previously accepted appointments disappeared (As I suspect you discovered with your users).
The workaround has been to get the user to accept the appointment again by going into deleted items, this seems to add the appointment as it should have the first time.
We have done the following but it didn't fix the problem:
Disabled extra SEP features on the clients - No Change
    Disabled non-essential Outlook add-ons - No Change
Removed BES Express and CDO MAPI From Exchange server - No Change
Disabled MS Defender on Exchange - No Change
Fixed any Public folder errors - No Change
Disable Window services WSS and UNC sharing feature in Active Sync - No Change
Also ensured Autoupdate and auto process was enabled for affected users - No Change
I'm going to try the reg change mentioned in this thread but other than the built in MS Defender we don't have anti-virus on our mail server.
At first we thought it was Active Sync as it only seem to impact those with a A/S device, but now it's intermittent for other users using Outlook.  We are currently using Exchange 2007 SP3 with RU13. We are looking at trying an update
to RU14 but I am doubtful it will fix the problem. Did you have any luck finding a solution?
    Thank you in Advance.

  • Error during Exchange 2007 mailbox provisioning with IDM 8.1.1.1

    Hi
We want to create Exchange 2007 mailboxes from IDM.
When we let Exchange set the SMTP address (EmailAddressPolicyEnabled=true), it works fine
But when we set the SMTP address in IDM with the attribute PrimarySmtpAddress (and EmailAddressPolicyEnabled=false) there are an error and an information in the provisioning task
Error : PowerShell:6c13f14c-3825-4064-a585-48b4756de3a3 is not a mailbox user
Information : Added exchange mailbox to the user based on the RecipientType change from: 'User' to: 'UserMailbox'
We see that the mailbox has the SMTP address set by Exchange.
After 5mn, the task ends successfully and we see that the SMTP address is the one set by the IDM attribute PrimarySmtpAddress.
We guess that this error is caused by the active directory replication delay between controllers.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem ?
    Thank you

    Hi Patrick
    Thank you for your answer.
The cmdlet enable-mailbox can be used with the PrimarySmtpAddress option and, in this case, the EmailAddressPolicyEnabled option is automatically set to false.
Cf. the MS technet help : "The PrimarySmtpAddress parameter specifies the primary SMTP address for the mailbox. By default, the primary SMTP address is generated based on the default e-mail address policy. If you specify a primary SMTP address by using this parameter, the command sets the EmailAddressPolicyEnabled attribute of the mailbox to $false, and the e-mail addresses of this mailbox aren't automatically updated based on e-mail address policies."
I have tested this option on our Exchange 2007 environment and it works fine.
In IDM if PrimarySmtpAddress is used but not EmailAddressPolicyEnabled, there is an error : "PowerShell:The e-mail addresses for this recipient are automatically generated based on e-mail address policies. To modify the primary SMTP address for this recipient, you must disable automatic updating of e-mail addresses based on e-mail address policy”
If PrimarySmtpAddress is used and EmailAddressPolicyEnabled is set to false, then the log shows that 2 powershell commands are run by the gateway, the second immediately after the first.
Enable-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity and -Database, run with no error
Set-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity, -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled (set to FALSE) and -PrimarySmtpAddress, run with the error “…is not a mailbox user.”
After 5 mn (the retry delay) another powershell command is run :
Set-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity, -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled (set to FALSE) and -PrimarySmtpAddress, run with no error.
The solution would be that IDM, when PrimarySmtpAddress is set, runs only the command Enable-Mailbox with the parameters PrimarySmtpAddress, which set automatically EmailAddressPolicyEnabled to FALSE

  • Error message in WebGUI after adding fields with EEWB - Class doesn't exist

    Hello!
After adding fields to the component BT111H_OPPT within EEWB and BSP_WD_CMPWB I recieved an error message while trying to open an Opportunity in the WebGUI, stating:
    Cannot display view MainWindow
    An exception has occured
Exception Class CX_SY_DYN_ILLEGAL_CLASS - Method call of IF_BSP_WD_DYN_RT_REP_SUPPORT~GET_URL_PARAMETERS failed; the class ZL_BT111H_O_BSPWDCOMPONEN_IMPL does not exist

Exceptions Class CX_BSP_WD_RUNTIME_ERROR - View CUBTOpptOverview.MainWindow could not be bound
    Method: CL_BSP_WD_VIEW_CONTROLLER=>BIND_VIEW

Has any one an idea, if this could be a bug or what went wrong? I am especially irritated, that it seems, that class was not created. After all I never changed any tables or anything in the background manually. I just used the standard tool EEWB, nothing else.
Many thanks for any kind of help!
By the way, I tried to go back all the steps I took previously to, kind of "un-do" my error, but I was not able to delete all created extensions, due to a another error - but that's a different story, or isn't it?
    Cheers,
    Marek

    Hello Experts,
I know my question was a tricky one and no-one was able to help me from this forum. That's why I would like to share with you the solution I just recieved from SAP:
Although all classes that were created whilst extending the component BT111H_OPPT were deleted, there still existed a seperate extension definition in ViewCluster BSPWDVC_CMP_EXT still persisted.
I wasn't aware of the fact, that I had to delete that too.
Note: in order to delete ViewCluster, use tx SM34
    The problem ist now solved!
    Cheers!
    Marek

  • ActiveSync 500 error and Exchange 2007/2013 coexistence

    Hello,
We have Exchange 2007, and we've deployed Exchange 2013 and coexistence appears to be working.  We have done a small pilot migration of 11 users, and I have 2 of those users that are not able to get iPhone/ActiveSync working.  OWA and Outlook access
work without a problem.  https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ is telling me "The test of the FolderSync command failed." and "Exchange
ActiveSync returned an HTTP 500 response (Internal Server Error)"
The error I'm receiving on the mailbox server event log is:
An exception occurred and was handled by Exchange ActiveSync. This may have been caused by an outdated or corrupted Exchange ActiveSync device partnership. This can occur if a user tries to modify the same item from multiple computers. If this is the case,
Exchange ActiveSync will re-create the partnership with the device. Items will be updated at the next synchronization.
    URL=
    --- Exception start ---
    Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.AirSync.AirSyncPermanentException
Exception message: A null value was received for the NTSD security descriptor of container CN=ExchangeActiveSyncDevices,CN=LASTNAME\, FIRSTNAME.,OU=XXX,OU=People,DC=DOMAIN,DC=local.
Most articles I've found with this issue say to confirm that "Inherit parent permissions" is check on the AD object, but that is already checked?
The funny thing is that most of our pilot users don't have this issue.  It is only for some of them.
    Any help is appreciated.

An update here, I was able to get the 2 pilot user's iPhone/ActiveSync access working by adding the following permissions by hand:
Add Exchange Servers, in Apply onto select
msExchActiveSyncDevices objects (note it's plural) and selecting
    Full Control.
Once I did this, my problems went away.
So the big question is why aren't these permissions in place already?  Isn't this something that the adprep/domain prep should have taken care of?
    Thanks!

    {mail2.contoso.com, www.mail2.contoso.com, autodiscover.contoso.com, legacy.contoso.com} - IMAP, POP, IIS, SMTP valid until 09/01/2016
    There was a expired certificate:
    {servername, servername.contoso.com} - SMTP valid until 08/12/2010
The fact that the mail is still working despite the expired certificate, makes me wonder if I could just change the receive connectors to use mail2.contoso.com instead of servername.contoso.com
In the same vein, could I change the send connector to mail2.contoso.com from contoso.com

    Hi,
Don’t modify the FQDN value on the default Receive connector Default <Server Name> that's automatically created on Mailbox servers. If you have multiple Mailbox servers in your Exchange organization and you change the FQDN value on the Default
<Server Name> Receive connector, internal mail flow between Mailbox servers fails. For more information about it, please refer to fqdn parameter in the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125140(v=exchg.80).aspx
I suggest we can renew the expired certificate with names: contoso.com, servername.contoso.com instead of changing the FQDN of receive connector and send connector:

  • Reports Service Fails with 186 error after Disocverer4i Admin Install

    DB = 8.1.7
    9iAS 1.0.2.1
Everything was working fine until the install of Disco4i Admin. I've performed a TNSPING80.EXE myserver & verified the TNSNames.ora configuration. Everything looks ok.

Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Here is a cut from Doc ID 122038.1 on Metalink:
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    ====================
After installing IAS Enterprise Edition, you attempt to start the Reports
Server Service (see below) and get the error:
REP-0186 - Daemon failed to listen to port.
    For Windows NT:
    Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Services-->Start Oracle Reports Server.
    Get REP-186 error.
    For UNIX:
    Run the following Script:
    $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server start.
    SOLUTION DESCRIPTION:
    =====================
    WINDOWS NT 4.0 Server:
The primary cause for this error is that the Reports Server Service cannot
find a valid entry in the tnsnames.ora file. When the MTS starts, it tries
to read the entry in the $ORACLE_HOME\net80\admin\tnsnames.ora file. There
may be multiple files called tnsnames.ora on the machine. The following hint
may help in setting the default location for this file on the Windows NT
    platform:
    1. Click Start-->Run and type in REGEDIT; press enter; click OK.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE folder.
    3. With this folder open, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New-->
    String.
    4. Enter "TNS_ADMIN" (w/o the quotes) for the new string.
    5. Double-click on the new string, and enter the <drive>:\<path> to where your
centralized tnsnames.ora file is stored for string's value. This setting to
the registry will define a common TNS_ADMIN directory, allowing for a
    central file to be managed.
    6. Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Where <serverdnsname> is the name of the DNS name of the server
(the server's IP address may also be used instead. "World"
is the name of the default domain in the sqlnet.ora file.
    7. Navigate to Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Services, find the Oracle
Reports Server [<RepServerName>] and start the service.
    a) If the Service still fails to start, ensure that there is a printer
(local or network) installed, and in the Control Panel-->Services, click
the Oracle Reports Server [<RepServerName>], and click the Startup
    button.
    b) Under the "Log on As" section, select "This Account", then click the
ellipsis (...) button. In the dialogue box that comes up, select a user
that has access to the system's printer, and type in the user's password,
(do this even if the asterisks (*) appear), and click OK. Legacy
versions required a printer driver be installed on the Server in order
to format document output, even when creating cached documents for the
    web.
    c) Restart the Reports Server Service.
    UNIX:
The following examples assume that IAS is installed in:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/ias
and the $ORACLE_HOME is defined as the same.
    1. Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server script file, noting the
    following (example) settings:
    csh:
    setenv TNS_ADMIN $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    bsh/ksh:
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    2. Define a printer per NOTE:74872.1 and set the PRINTER environment to match:
    csh:
    setenv PRINTER <queuename>
    bsh/ksh:
    export PRINTER=<queuename>
    3. Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Where <serverdnsname> is the name of the DNS name of the server
(the server's IP address may also be used instead). "World" is
the name of default domain in the sqlnet.ora file.
    4. Now start the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server script file.
    EXPLANATION:
    ============
The IAS installation creates a TN S_ADMIN in the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i
directory, but the Reports Server is not able to find it, due to the defaults
    setup by the installer.

  • 'User failed to respond' (error -8) - a serious issue that needs attention

Based on the various posts here it is becoming increasingly apparent that, in most cases, this is not a user defined issue related to incorrect router settings/port configurations etc..
There also appears to be a fairly conspicuous correlation between upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.7/Qtime 7.1.2 and the onset of problems with iChat. It is particularly notable that many people have been using iChat successfully for some time and that it has all of a sudden ceased working despite no manipulation of parameters related to network access (other than those associated with the 10.4.7 software upgrade of course).
In summary, it appears that that the 10.4.7 upgrade has rendered iChat inoperable (possibly through altering the nature of communication with wireless routers? I have’nt noted if anyone with hardwired connections have been experiencing these problems).
I am not an expert in this area, so apologies if I am stating the bleedingly obvious (or, at the other end of the spectrum, if I'm completely off the mark). Nonetheless, this appears to be a serious, global issue that is affecting an increasing number of people in the same way despite having different routers, ISP's etc.. and it is something that needs addressing.
Is there anything in the pipeline on this yet? Or is it still being handled on a case-by-case basis, which, while appreciated, has not been successful in any way thus far.
Some sort of formal response re: what steps are being taken to correct this would certainly be appreciated by many it appears.

I strongly agree. I have had nothing but trouble with iChat since I upgraded to 10.4.7 & QT 7.1.2 (error -8, not responding...). I can still chat to other buddies running Tiger, but no longer can chat to buddies on AIM PCs or buddies running Panther -- buddies I have been chatting to for more than a year without a single problem.
I also tested against the automatic clients on Ralph John's great website: appleu3test01 works fine, rjinwipc doesn't.
I have tried using the 10.4.7 combo update -- no luck. I have even tried reverting my iChat & its libraries back to 10.4.6 using Pacifist. Same problem. Alas, I am on a group wireless router that I am not allowed to administer, so I can not try any of Ralph's port opening tricks... So, short of reinstalling the entire OS, I am stuck.
Given the large number of people who are reporting this erorr recently, clearly, the 10.4.7/QT 7.1.2 updates have broken iChat for many, many people. Apple needs to step up and:
    1) acknowledge they have broken something
    2) build a "revert to 10.4.6 installer", as they did with QT a few months ago.
    3) publish an official workaround (if the port opening works)
    4) give us a timeline for a patch ASAP
Thanks, LachlanT for saying what needed to be said.
P.S. I went by my local Apple store last week and noticed that all their machines are at still 10.4.6...

  • How do I resolve service failed to start error message?

iTunes failed to update on my laptop. I uninstalled it and am attempting to reinstall it. I got an error message that says, "Service "Apple mobile device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I never had an issue before and don't know what to do with this. How do I verify this? Thanks.

    Hello tammy313,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
    2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled
    3. Reinstall iTunes and related components
    Best of luck,
    Mario
