Address mapping / mail forwarding (equivalent to virtusertable in sendmail)

Is there an equivalent setting somewhere with Snow Leopard Server, to do address mapping, as you would under sendmail on Linux? (with /etc/mail/virtusertable)
i.e. create address maps, for mail forwarding. if mail comes to this email address on the server, forward it to this address (even outside the server on another domain).

look into here or elsewhere in the postfix docs:

    Mail forwarding is usually a function provided by your email provider.  Visit their web site and check your setup there.

  • I can no longer select multiple addresses from my Mail address book when forwarding emails

    Since updating to Mavericks I cannot select multiple addresses from my address book when forwarding emails.
    I can select them individually using the + sign in the address bar but cannot select any when I open my Contact list as I have done with previous systems.
    Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.

    Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
    This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account.

  • Mail forwarding in Lion

    In Workgroup Manager on Snow Leopard Server when you edited a users account settings, there was a "Mail" tab which you could enable/disable the mailbox, or, have the email forwarded to an external mail account.
    So where is the equivalent option to do this in Lion Server? I can find the option to enable mail services for the user in the Server.app, and I can add mailbox aliases (using secondary shortnames) to Workgroup Manager, but I can't find anywhere to allow mail forwarding to an external address.
    Any ideas anyone?

    This problem was crippling a large client after migrating from Microsoft Online Services (now Office 365) to Lion Server.
    Not having this feature is simply unacceptable.
    However, I have finalized a way to get group emails working. It involves adding the LDAP 'mail' attribute to each group that you would like to have members 'subscribed' to for group email (simply by being in that group) by doing the instructions below.
    Open Directory Utility on your Lion Server. Authenticate as the LDAP Admin account (usually diradmin) and edit 'groups' in LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. You can add an object type called EMailAddress for any group in LDAP. Add the accounts to the group that you would like to receive email.
    I preferred creating my own file called /etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf, but you can use the provided /etc/postfix/ldap-aliases.cf if desired.
    In it, I put the following information to make postfix find the email address for the group, and then expand memberUid to uid, then formatting the results in an acceptable email format.
    /etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf
    server_host = localhost
    search_base = cn=groups,dc=domain,dc=tld
    version = 3
    query_filter = (mail=%s)
    result_attribute = memberUid
    result_format = %[email protected]
    Once that is configured, you can test it by the Terminal:
    $ postmap -q (EMailAddress)@domain.tld ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf
    It should return users' email addresses.
    After that, add the following information into main.cf
    virtual_alias_maps = ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf
    Restart postfix
    # sudo postfix reload
    Send yourself a test email and enjoy the functionality of what should have been included in Lion Server in the first place.
    I am currently looking for a way to query OpenLDAP in a similar way, but instead be able to get the group email address to forward to users in it and to addresses outside of only LDAP users: e.g. forward to uid1, uid2, name(at)gmail.com.
    Also, being able to have some kind of rules for who can email the group ... would be nice. However, it seems that Apple has run out of nice.

  • How can I send just 1 message for 2 mail accounts under mail forwarding

    Hi everyone
    I have a question for mail forwarding.
    I have 2 inbound mail servers,4 outbound servers and many store servers.
    User A set his mail forwarding address to B, and B set his mail forwarding address to A.
    So 2 guys can receive each others message.
    In this case, If two users have same "mailhost' value(ex, x.test.com), forwarding mail goes just once for each accounts.
    If "mailhost' values , however, are different (ex, x.test.com and y.test.com - and also two mail servers connected as internal server),
    forwarding mail goes 4 times for each accounts.
    So sender gets 4 messages and receiver gets 5 messages.
    How can I set mail server configuration to send just once not 4 times for 2 users?
    Any advices would be welcomed.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    User A set his mail forwarding address to B, and B
    set his mail forwarding address to A.
    So 2 guys can receive each others message.You have just created a mail loop. This is not a good thing.
    Any advices would be welcomed.I would advise creating a mailing list which has both userA and userB as members, and then have emails sent to that address OR have a third account which they can both access (IMAP shared folders) and have email sent to that OR have them share each-others INBOX.
    The fact that userA & B didn't get multiple copies when they were on the same mailhost is due to good luck only.

  • Changing "From" address in Mail

    I have a college email address that I get to keep and have been using that as my default. It is linked to a Gmail account, though, as the college does not provide a server for you after you graduate. You only get to keep the address. On gmail.com, it sends it from my college address (which is forwarded to Gmail), just the way I want. However, in Mail on my iPhone 5, it sends emails as the Gmail address, not my college address. In other words, I want to be able to send emails, from Mail, and have my recipients see it as being sent from my college address and not my Gmail address. I can do it on gmail.com, but can't in Mail. People think I have two emails and I want them to know I just have one and have it be consistent.
    Thanks for your help!

    Gmail is primarily webmail and, of course, I know that that option is available when you're logged into and using Gmail.com. Your father would be able to domthe same thing, I.e., use Safari or the Google app to operate directly at Gmail instead of remotely through a client like Mail.
    The only other option I can think of would be to add his business account into Mail on the iPad, following the setup instructions in the User Guide. There is moding in Mail which allows you to assign any installed email address and outgoing email server to any message — Tapping the From: address shown in the message being composed pops a menu showing other options for the From field.

  • ICloud : automatic mail forward doesn't work

    Hi,
    I've setup an automatic mail forwarding through icloud.com mail application, in preferences.
    At first, it worked.
    A few days later it doesn't.
    I've tryed to disable, enable, re-type the destination email address (gmail), nothing works : mails won't be forwarded, but they get deleted (I checked the option, this one works).
    I've contacted Apple Support Express Lane, who reset my preferences on the server (it changed nothing to the preferences I see) : there is no result on this one either.
    When I forward an email manually to the same gmail address : it works.
    Any of you having the same issue ?

    Update. It appears that auto forwarding works except for emails sent from a gmail account associated with the "forward to" address. If I send from my comcast account it works, but if I send from my gmail account, using the gmail or comcast address, it doesn't. On the plus side, mail sent from other gmail accounts apeears to work.  So other than for testing purposes, this may not be a big deal.

  • Grant mail forwarding privileges? - OWA 2013

    In a locally hosted Exchange 2013 environment I would like to allow some users to be able to go through /owa and enable forward all mail to '[email protected]' I have it set up but nothing is happening. Is there a rule that needs to be enabled to allow
    mail forwarding, I don't want to have to create external contacts for each external address they send to.
    Let me know!
    Thanks!

    Hi
    Auto Forwarding is by default not enabled in an Exchange environment.
    It is a organizational setting that can be enabled on a "remote domain basis"
    only  and not for an individual user.
    Set-RemoteDomain
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997857(v=exchg.150).aspx
    If you don't want to do that (=understandable) then your only option is to create MailContacts that your users can use in the rules they create.

  • How to set up domain mail forwarding

    Greeting gurus.
    I am a BT Business Broadband custome and BT also host my domain.
    I am terminating my Boradband service next week but the domain is not for renewal until 2012.
    I have trying to find how to set  up mail forwarding for the domain.
    I would like all mail addressed to [email protected] -> [email protected]
    Replies can then be sent from the appropriate domain.
    The reason is that mydomain.com is effectively being mothballed, but I wish to ensure that any mail does not just get lost.
    I am on the support line but wanted to know if anyone can help me quicker.
    thanks.
    ps: this is my first post so be gentle with me!

    The business forums would be a better place for this.
    http://business.forums.bt.com/
    I've not hosted a domain with BT, but all the other domain registration/hosting companies I've used have a browser based control panel where these things are configured.
    You say the domain is being mothballed. You'll have to continue with the registration though, and BT claim to offer email with all domain registrations, so why not just carry on as you are ?

  • ASA 8.4(2) doesn't respond to ICMP echo on ip address with port forwarding only

    Hello,
    In order to meet our requirements we had to configure PAT for TCP 80 on 2 external IP addresses to one internal IP in DMZ. TCP port 80 is being translated for both external IP addresses and it works as expected. However, since we have migrated to ASA both external IP addresses don't respond to ICMP echo requests generating following error:
    %ASA-3-106014: Deny inbound icmp src outside:<Source IP> dst outside:<Destination IP> (type 8, code 0)
    Previously we have been using Cisco router to achieve the same objective and it worked well.
    I have noticed that when I add "same-security-traffic permit intra-interface" to a configuration the message mentioned above stops appearing in a logs.
    As far as I can tell ASA sends packet back through outside interface, despite the fact that appliance advertises its mac address in response to arp request for the same external IP address.
    Is there any way to make ASA realise that it should respond to ICMP echo requests on external IP addresses that have forwarding setup?
    I do realise that ICMP would work in 1-to-1 NAT scenario, but we can't apply 1-to-1 NAT for 2 external IP addresses to point to one internal IP address.
    Kind Regards,
    Paul Preston

    Hi Julio,
    Interesting. I have tried to map two external IP addresses with using 1 to 1 nat to a single internal IP, but when I tried to configure a second one I remember a message "mapping exists"...
    I think that it might be easier if I paste relevent config:
    access-list From_Internet extended permit icmp any any
    access-list From_Internet extended permit tcp any gt 1023 host 172.17.0.103 eq www
    access-list From_Internet extended deny ip any any log warnings
    object network www-91-17.103
    host 172.17.0.103
    object network www-92-17.103
    host 172.17.0.103
    icmp permit any outside
    object network www-91-17.103
    nat (DMZ,outside) static x.x.x.91 service tcp www www
    object network www-92-17.103
    nat (DMZ,outside) static x.x.x.92 service tcp www www
    With a config above NAT works for both IP addresses, but unfortunately neither IP address respond to icmp echo requests.
    Kind Regards,

  • SMTP mail forwarding

    Hi ,
    In one of my customers IMS system we have a web mail server with http.smtphost settings which forwards the http/smtp traffic to one of
    virus wall server for filtering. After reading the forum thred below I am also thinking of avoiding the http.smtphost method and using some other way of
    http/smtp mail forwarding. Bcos this syetm carry huge http based traffic in that ISP.
    web mail behaviour for unknown recipient
    I can enable imta on the same web mail host and remove http.smtphost setting so that web mail server can
    use its defualt for http/smtp delivery. But my problem is how can I forward "all" the channels traffic to the virus wall ( not only tcp_local)?
    msg server version --> 7u3
    Thanks and best regards,
    ...

    Adding the daemon option to the tcp_local channel, as Ray suggested, will route all mail enqueued to the tcp_local channel to the specified host. However, if you want to route all mail thru that host, rather than just that which would normally go thru the tcp_local channel (ie, mail submitted by webmail users and destined for other users on the same system, it will be more complicated. If that other mail all goes thru the tcp_intranet channel, you could add the daemon option to the tcp_intranet channel as well and that would be the end of it. But if this is a single-host deployment where mshttpd is running on the same system as the message store, then such local delivery would probably go directly to the ims-ms channel.
    See the aliasdetourhost option in Routing After Address Validation But Before Expansion in the Admin Guide:

  • OutlookAnywhere - MAPI Mail Store endpoint - attemped to ping failed

    Hi,
    I have a DC (Server 2012 R2) setup, with RDS and EXCHANGE (with MS Exchange 2013 SP1) as virtual servers.
    RDS is facing the internet (mail.domain.com @ Port 443), and is using ARR with URL Rewrite for OWA, EWS, Autodiscover, ActiveSync and ECP, rewriting all requests to EXCHANGE.
    When I run tests on https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com for Outlook connectivity, it fails saying:
    Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint with identity: [email protected]:6001.
           The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.
            Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
          Additional Details
    The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.
    Elapsed Time: 3310 ms.
    Telnet from DC or RDS into EXCHANGE on port 6001 works fine.
    However, I am concerned that there may be two things preventing this from working:
    1) [email protected]:6001 <-- shouldn't this be trying to connect to mail.domain.com:6001 and not domain.com?
    2) Even if there is nothing wrong with the above, I would assume it is using RDS's standard 443 port, and trying to ping 6001 on RDS itself, since as far as I know, URL Rewrite has no rules to forward port requests on to exchange.
    Am I right in my assumptions?

    Exchange 2013 uses GUIDs for profiles, so your item 1 looks okay to me.
    That error doesn't mean that ExRCA can't ping 6001, it means that the RPC-over-HTTPS proxy server can't ping that port on the back-end server.  I would first make sure that all your names are correct in your configuration, and that all services are
    running.

  • Address Book/Mail won't delete email address

    I use several address groups in Address Book. I recently changed the email address for one of the recipients in a group after he changed internet servers. Although he does receive emails addressed to his new email address when I use the Address Group, Mail continues to also send emails to him at his old email address, which then bounce back as undeliverable.
    I deleted all references to his old address in Mail (in the Previous Recipients pane under Window, and I deleted his vCard from Address Book and made up a new one for him with his new address, but emails are still being sent to his old address. When I highlight the Address Group in the "To" line in an outgoing email, only his new address show. Is there some other place that old addresses are retained in Mail or Address Book that I need to check?
    Bob Winckler

    Hi Bob,
    Are you sure the problem is on your side and not theirs? Maybe he has his new email set up to forward to emails to his old address (for whatever reason) and it is those bounce responses you are receiving?
    If that's not the case, try posting over in the [Mail & Address Book - Tiger |http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=753] forum - this is the Safari web browser forum
    Good luck!

    Is there a way I can delete my primary @me email address so that I can receive emails only via my "reserved" @icloud address. eg. delete "msjones@me" and receive emails via "msjones@icloud" only.The reason being, I receive a fair bit of spam to my @me address. Going forward I plan on using an alias for certain websites to minimise this problem.

    You can't delete the address, but you can set up a Rule to move messages to that address to the Trash or another folder. Go to http://icloud.com and go to the Mail page, click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Rules'.
    It's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - even though in fact you haven't posted them in full; I've asked the hosts to remove them.

  • The attempt to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint endpoint failed

    Hi,
    We have just moved from Exchange 2010 to 2013 (completely new organisation/ad, there were lots of problems with the old one). All roles are performed by a single server (budgets). Everything went perfectly however Outlook cannot connect, creating a new profile
    finds the settings via Autodiscover (via 3rd party cert) but then the following error occurs:
    (There were images before, but apparently I am not allowed to post any images so apologies for the typing out)
    The action could not be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
    The check name doesn't work and the account cannot be created (and from what I have read Exchange 2013 doesn't support non-autoconfigure connections anymore).
    Before I enabled Outlook anywhere any Outlook connections would just constantly ask for credentials, however I can't go back now it seems. Does Exchange 2013 only support RPC via HTTP connections for Outlook? That is something new if true.
    Then I checked https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ and the following is displayed:
    Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store enpoint with identity [email protected]:6000
    The attempt to ping the endpoint failed
    The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.
    Cue some intensive Googling (sorry Binging?) and several suggestions were found to resolve the issue from various threads here and blog posts:
    Add IP  SERVER to the hosts and lmhosts.sam files
    Disable IPv6
    edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy\ValidPorts to everything I could think of:
    NETBOIS:593;NETBOIS:49152-65535;FQDN:49152-65535;localhost:49152-65535;Outlook anywhere FQDN:49152-65535;
    Telnet into port 6001, 6002 and 6004 from the server. This throws an interesting result:
    Port 6001: ncacn_http/1.0 (which seems fine)
    Port 6002: can't connect
    Port 6004: can't connect
    This looks to be my issue, but I can't see why it's not connecting and I don't know how to check any further. The other thing is the Remote Connection Analyser is looking for port 6001 and it can't connect.
    Any help is much appreciated, I think I have tried everything I can think of and have reached the end of my intelligence.
    -macole1

    Hi Mavis,
    Many thanks for the reply. You are thinking along similar lines to me. I have re-enabled IPv6, I never worked out how to turn off Outlook Anywhere.
    1. DNS is working correctly, I can telnet into port 6001 using the FQDN and localhost
    2. My VaildPorts key is as follows: I think it is okay.
    COMPUTERNAME:593;COMPUTERNAME:49152-65535;FQDN:49152-65535;localhost:49152-65535;OUTLOOKANYWHEREADDRESS:49152-65535;
    3. This is where I was thinking the error comes from, however I can't find any information on how to test this.
    netstat -a shows:
    Active Connections
      Proto  Local Address          Foreign Address        State PID
    TCP    0.0.0.0:6001           BOSTON:0               LISTENING       13764
      TCP    0.0.0.0:6005           BOSTON:0               LISTENING       356
      TCP    0.0.0.0:6006           BOSTON:0               LISTENING       760
     TCP    [::]:6001              BOSTON:0               LISTENING       13764
      TCP    [::]:6005              BOSTON:0               LISTENING       356
      TCP    [::]:6006              BOSTON:0               LISTENING       760
    So it's not even listening on 6002 or 6004.
    These are what the PID are. Looks like only 6001 is related.
    PID    Process
    13764  Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe
    356    wininit.exe
    760    svchost.exe
    4. I tried turning off Windows firewall (the only firewall) to test it and it made no difference therefore it was re-enabled. As all the roles are on the same server I assume that would make no difference.
    Do you have any ideas why there would be no service at 6002 or 6004? This looks to be the root of the issue.
    Many thanks for your help so far.
