Addressbook

I was trying to create a sub folder in my address book & now I can't find my origional add book. The add book icon is still there, but there are no contacts in it. The best i remember i hit filter and chose business & typed in a name for what i thought would be a new folder or group. i'm not sure what happened, but I can't see any of my contacts. I have switched from personl to business & back again & it says "no contacts" on both. But if I go to email & put in a letter all of my old contacts that begin with that letter show up. & my speed dials still work. But if i go to sms/mms & do compose sms it shows "No Addresses"....well I spoke too soon...now if i go to email & type in a letter it don't show a list of ppl that begin with that letter....
I have tried taking the battery out with the phone off & on & it's still the same....

The info is still in there somewhere...when somebody calls me their name shows up. My speed dials still work & the person's picture is still there...

  • Addressbook Bluetooth and iSync - Get numbers off phone to AB

    Greetings,
    There were many topics on this after a search but I couldn't find an answer I could understand. Forgive me if I am a little slow.
    I plan to buy the iPhone here in the next few days. My old Motorola RAZR V3 has bluetooth and works flawless by syncing AB with the phone by using iSync. However, none of the phone numbers from my phone (Which weren't in AB before) end up in my AB. Am I doing something wrong here?
    I never used any type of sync before since I didn't need a media device but now I guess I do? Apparently iPhone has a new built in SIM card and I can't transfer my numbers if I don't do this?
    Thanks.. Oh... What is really the difference between iSync and the Sync in addressbook? Everytime I click the bluetooth icon in AB it asks to pair then nothing happens?
    //Cheers

    That happens if you've got your contacts stored on your SIM card in the RAZR. Transfer them to your phone, then they'll magically appear in address book. I've found as well that for some reason the bluetooth pairing in address book doesn't do much, iSync does though.

  • Mail (and all apps using apple.AddressBook.framework) crashing on open

    I was able to fix Safari by not selecting any Address Book lookup items in Safari-Preferences. Address Book, Mail, Omniweb all crash on open. They all point to the same problem - srr0 is telling me that the apple.AddressBook.framework is the culprit (address matches) but lr is not showing the same address, thus is referencing an invalid pointer as per Apple's support doc on CrashReporter (and how to analyze it with GDB but I don't have Xcode loaded). But the fix eludes me....

  • Unable to find oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook class in R12

    Hi,
    We are implementing iStore R12 for our client. They have iStore 11i already implemented.
    In 11i they were using a custom jsp which is using following seeded java classes:
    oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook
    oracle.apps.ibe.customer.FlexibleAddress
    I am trying to migrate this jsp into R12. However above java classes are not there in R12.
    Are these java classes moved to some other location?
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    As noted these are now obsoleted in R12.
    The new files are in: oracle.apps.ibe.tcav2
    Thank You,

  • Is there any way to download my Mac Mail Contact list (Addressbook)from Snow Leopard to an iPad, or iPhone?

    I have an Intel iMac Model 8,1 Running Snow Leopard (10.6.8), and a 4th Gen iPad. Is there any way that I can import my Mac Addressbook from my iMac to the iPad so that I don't have to manually enter over 1,100 names and email addresses?
    My installed iTunes (v11.0.3) function for synchronizing the two units tells me that Contacts are sync'ed only via iCLoud, which, or course is only available with OS 7.0 and above. I cannot uppgrade my iMac above Snow Leopard without losing application compatibility on both a major contact database program, and an engineering drawing software program, with thousands of manhours and dollars worth of valuable files, that have been generated over many years past, neither software applications of which are supported by OS 10.7 and above.
    I cannot believe that Apple would be so blindsighted to this type of issue and there must be some work-around.

    Worked like a charm and resolved my problem totally. The only issue I had is that, unlike the Computer (Mac OS). the iPad doesn't give constant visibility to what it is doing (feedback), so I wasn't initially sure it had done anything.
    When I opened my emailed message with .vcf file attached, and tapped the .vcf attachment icon, I saw activity on the icon for just a few seconds, then it reverted to the original with nothing apparently happening. After about 30 seconds, the secondary menut popped up indicating the transfer of 1200 addresses would be completed, if I approved the action. Another 10 to 15 seconds then transpired before the completed Contact list appeared on the ipad. So you must be patient, if you have a large Addressbook. That's reasonable,but unexpected lack of feedback left me wondering, like so many other things on the iPad.
    THank you for the assist. Apparently Apples Mac Genius people did not know this procedure, and I will pass it on to my local Apple Store Instructor.

  • Need to "publish/subscribe" my Contacts info like we could in Addressbook. Any ideas?

    Being a LONG TIME Mac User (yes, I owned a Lisa in the early 80’s and it still runs!)  I have lived thru the transition from OS 6 and 7, then 8, 9 and finally the upgrade to OSX and thru its incarnations up to my current Maverick (aka OS 10.9.4).  I am no stranger to changes on the Mac OS.  But the new Contacts file within iCloud has me lost. For many years my spouse and I would cross share portions of our personal AddressBook using that softwares publish/subscribe function. It worked great! I could have a list of his relatives/names/phones/addresses in case I needed them - and he had the same for me. With a glance he could see that my sisters middle name was Louise and she hated it. Useful info for when she was being icy to him on a phone call. <grin> We had the shared groups identified as coming from my AddressBook or his, and we could share subgroups or the entire thing as we might choose.
    When we went to iCloud and now Maverick, there is no longer a way to share the contact info short of buying the Apple Server software and setting up our own server in house. While I might be able to justify doing so, it is a huge hassle for a very small gain in our case. So that is a last-resort solution, so far.
    I would again like to be able to share portions (groups/or sub-groups) of my contact database files with specific individuals, using something like a publish/subscribe feature that would require both parties to agree to the sharing and then once that was done, it should implement automatically and update every time an items is changed, added, deleted on the owners main copy of Contacts.  Ideally this would work thru iCloud and its “push update” function.  But just to have it working is the goal here. I really do not care HOW it works.
    Ive searched, even called a buddy who works the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store. So far, no one seems to have any suggestion other than the aforementioned Maverick Server idea.  Frankly with three computers, two printers, a few iPads and iPhones, and a couple of Apple TVs in the house, I am hard pressed to justify the time and energy running a server would require.  There has to be a better way to do this. If friends can push their Contact Info to their Android Phones, I should be able to share my Contact files with my spouse!  Thanks for your thoughts/suggestions/and hopefully for a solution.

    Is the disk cache and the memory cache enabled?
    You can check these prefs on the about:config page.

  • How to setup a shared addressbook for multiple users (Family) or a group?

    I want to have a centralized addressbook for my family and thought, the addressbookserver would provide that.
    I have actually setup 2 useraccounts on the server, activated the addressbookservice and set up a new addressbookaccount in Mail, Contacts, Calender on the clients.
    What I get is two individual addressbooks hosted on the server.
    What I wanted to get is to see a common addressbook for group contacts.
    What did I wrong?
    Where on the server are the addressbook files stored?
    Thanks in advance

    thx for reading, actually I found the answers a few seconds after posting my questions in " More like this".

  • AddressBook server not working in Lion Server

    Clean install on Mac Mini, everything installed OK, all other services working OK. However, AddressBook isn't.  Reading through Apple's online docs here it states that the log files should be at /var/log/carddavd (as one would expect)...except that I didn't have that folder. Hmmm....
    In addition most of the settings to do with certificates and SSL were empty.  Going through and manually setting them to what the good book says they should be, makes serveradmin's settings stick and look correct but still no good.  I even created a carddavd directory in /var/log/ and pointed the log files to it but they are just full of errors and nothing but 'server started' in the access log.
    serveradmin output below -if soemone could compare and let me know, that'd be really helpful (XXXXXXX is the server blanked) and extract of error log below that.

  • Addressbook actions do not work since Mavericks Update

    I had some nice addressbook actions in my Contacts-App.
    by clickin on email or telephone-action I was able to perform some specific actions like doing a phone call via iphone, ...
    since the 10.9 update these actions don't work anymore. By perfoming these actions nothing happens and I get no error message nor any output in apple script
    the scripts are stored in ~Library/Address Book Plug-Ins
    the scripts look similar to this (assumin the app TK-Suite-Client is installed):
    on cleanString(str, chars)
              set tid to AppleScript's text item delimiters
              repeat with c in chars
                        set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {c}
                        set chunks to text items of str
                        set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ""
                        set str to chunks as Unicode text
              end repeat
              set AppleScript's text item delimiters to tid
              return str
    end cleanString
    on ApplicationIsRunning(appName)
              tell application "System Events" to set appNameIsRunning to exists (processes where name is appName)
              return appNameIsRunning
    end ApplicationIsRunning
    using terms from application "Contacts"
              on action property
                        return "phone"
              end action property
              on action title for aPerson with phoneNumber
                        return ("anrufen : " & (value of phoneNumber as string))
              end action title
              on should enable action for aPerson with phoneNumber
                        return true
              end should enable action
              on perform action for aPerson with phoneNumber
      (* remove ignored phone characters *)
                        set phoneNumber to my cleanString(value of phoneNumber as string, {" ", "-", ")", "(", "."})
      set volume 0
                        using terms from application "TK-Suite-Client"
                                  activate application "TK-Suite-Client"
                                  delay 0.5
                                  tell application "TK-Suite-Client" to dial phoneNumber
                        end using terms from
                        return true
              end perform action
    end using terms from

    very easy... in Mavericks AddressBook.app was changed. with that came some changes.
    you need to take ALL scripts from  ~/Library/Address\ Book\ Plug-Ins
    and copy them to NEW location: ~/Library/Application\ Scripts/com.apple.AddressBook
    restart Address book and your scripts should work.
    good luck.

  • Can you set an alert for birthdays in Addressbook and iCal?

    When I migrated from Palm Calendar to iCal, my calendar had my birthdays in it repeating each year and with a 7 day alert so I could send a card or get a present in time.
    I see you can list a birthday in Addressbook and set the iCal pref to show them which is at first glance very cool and green but when I open the birthday event in iCal I don't see any way to set an alert which is a big limitation.
    If I can't set alerts, then the Addressbook/iCal birthday syncing is kind of pointless and limited, unless I'm missing how to set alerts.

    Hi Steven,
    This is one of the reasons why I wrote Dates to iCal.
    As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries.
    Best wishes

  • How to delete duplicate addresses in my addressbook

    I havetried to tidy up my address books and moved those in my Contacts to my Personao Addressbook. Now the latter is full of duplicates and triplicates. I cannot undo. Can this be automated?

    I also have FX 36 and I can install no problems.
    Did you do theses steps?
    <blockquote>
    # Open you Thunderbird
    # Press''' Alt''' or '''F10 '''to see the menu bar, then '''Tools''' >>''' Add-ons'''
    # Click on '''Extensions''', in the top right of the screen you can see a gear, click on it and select '''Install Add-on From File...'''
    # Then select the '''xpi''' file that you download, then just install it

  • How print  ADDRESSbook simple list? Everything prints scewd right &too long

    I'd liike to print out a simple list of names, phone, addresses from my mac AddressBook. Can't I design the layout? Prints first left 1/3 column jjust phone number, center column just name, and all the other info squeezed at the riight margin with several fields that take up space verticle so I can only print sometiimes maybe 4-6 names a page. If i had a lot of notes in the person's 'NOTES' section of their AddressBook page, it will print out everything, even a couple pages. How not print thhat? I want a simple abbbreviated, short list to carry with at least 10-14 names, address,phone,email, etc on each page.
    I'mm sure the annswer is around here somewhere, iif only i knew where.
    Thanking you foor your help and time.

    Hi thelnukus,
    Are you saying that you see the list correctly but it is printing in a vertical format albeit somewhat skewed?
    I'm not an expert with printing the Address Book in "list" form but have you tried creating a PDF first and then printing that? You do know that you can select/deselect what you wish to include in the list from the "attributes" pane?
    My method for printing a list is this:
    1. Open Address Book
    2. Select in the "Names" column the names that I wish to print a list of.
    3. File Menu>Print
    4. Select/deselect addresses/email etc. from the attributes pane that you do not wish to include in
    the list.
    5. Select other features I want such as Font size (regular/large) from the pop up.
    6. Select Print (or if that does not work select Save as PDF and then print that).
    post back if this doesn't help and try to explain what you are seeing exactly.

  • Ical events to Mac Addressbook....plugin? applescript?

    If you have an Ical event with name and location (address) is there a way to import that information into addressbook for mac and create new entries?

    Hi,
    If you were guaranteed that the format was going to be the same every time, it would be possible do this by selecting the text and using an Applescript.
    Best wishes

    Hi I'm running Addressbook and cannot clear previous entry easily when searching my data base of around 5,000 contacts.
    I prefer to view in All contacts on a double page spread with details on the right page.  Searching doesn't seem to work correctly in this view.
    It's always the second search that is problematic.
    I've tried typing over and all it seems to do is confine the search to the the entries that have come up for the previous search.
    I've tried to use the x to clear the previous entry and then type the next search, same problem.  The only way seems to be to move from "All Contacts" to "Groups".  Then the searched name appears and I can return to All Contacts to see full details.
    Surely three key press' are not the way it's supposed to work?

  • Add AddressBook to a view

    I have what I thought would be a simple task.
    I have a sample project that will let a user click a button to pull up the AddressBook user interface within a view. From what I see most of the work is done here:
    -(IBAction) checkOutBook: (id)sender
    ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *peoplePicker=[[ABPeoplePickerNavigationController alloc] init];
    [peoplePicker setPeoplePickerDelegate:self];
    [self.navigationController presentModalViewController: peoplePicker animated:YES];
    [peoplePicker release];
    And there is a button on a view has TouchUp Inside linked to this action. Now, instead of clicking a button, I want a view to just have the AddressBook already loaded. I tried putting the code above (everything between the {} ) in the ViewController's didLoad event. Nope, that didn't work. I have the AB framworks imported. I don't get any errors, it's just the view loads with nothing in it.
    What am I missing?

    Hi,
    Can you please explain your requirement, do you want to search contact's by identification types?
    If that's the requirement let me know will explain in detail how to enhance contact search by bp identification number's..
    Cheers,
