ADE 3 crashing
Downloaded ADE yesterday, acquired one DRM protected pdf.
Using cursor-down or scroll-bar, ADE crashes.
Not linked to a specific position in the file, appeared to be linked to bookmarks so deleted them. Alas, ADE still crashed.
Not much information on this in recent ADE versions. Just my luck of something with this specific version (3.0.86137)?
Here's more information. It works like a charm in a different account on my laptop, but not in my main one. Some file or files must've gone bad in that account.
Is there a way to just uninstall, and then start totally from scratch?

My ADE keeps crashing when I try to transfer a book over to my Kobo. What can I do?
Can anyone help me? I cannot get books transferred over to my Kobo! ADE keeps crashing!
Hi amyhlj,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone. If you are having issues with your iPhone restarting when accessing a specific web page (all web pages?), you may want to try resetting the Safari data on your phone as outlined in the following article:
Clear information from your device
To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.
To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.
To visit sites without leaving a history, turn on private browsing.

ADE 4 Crashes on Mac When Opening a Borrowed Library Book
I borrowed "Game of Thrones" from my public library, in eBook format of course, and it crashes ADE 4.x on my Mac 10.10.2. I downgraded ADE to 2.01 and the book open fine. How do I send a bug report to Adobe on this? I can repeat the bug every time.

ADE keeps crashing when I download library epub books
I just downloaded the newest ADE Version 4.0.2.103411 on my apple mac air (1.4 GHz Intel Core i5) with OSX 10.9.5. When I opened library books that I downloaded on the laptop, first three books showed up but with the wrong due date. Then the fourth book I tried to open crashed ADE without error message. I returned the file to the library, and tried with a different book, but it crashed again. I tried the sample epub books from ADE website, and this worked fine. I tried downloading and opening the same library book on my desktop, and it works fine, and the due dates are correct as well. The bottom-line, it's just the newest ADE on my laptop that won't work with library epub files with due dates on them. Can someone please help me out? If there is no other options, can someone tell me how I can properly uninstall ADE so I can reinstall and see if that fixes things?
Yep - I have the same exact problem...not on every import, but on some. It's frustrating because I have two different .ppt's created in MSO '10...different templates, similar content. One imported perfectly, the other no go.
-
I download epub books from Overdrive. Only one epub file will not open in ADE on my Mac or on my Nook. The many others I've downloaded will open on both and will copy to the Nook as usual. Using the latest edition of ADE. Could be a corrupted ePub file? Curiously, this is the second time I've downloaded this epub from the same site, and I had no problem the first time. It still has 9 days remaining in the borrowing period.
Forgot to make clear that on both my Mac and the Nook, attempting to open the epub causes ADE to crash.
-
I donwloaded a epub formatted book. I viewed it in Adobe Digital Editions version 2.0.67532.
Highlighted some text and pressed ctrl-c to copy. ADE application crashed.
I restarted it. Highlighted text. Right click and Select copy. ADE crashed.
This bug is easily reproducible.
Please let me know if there is a workaround for this issue. This is clearly a bug; it shouldn't crash.
Does ctrl-C for copying do exactly the same?
Check the properties of the book. It may be that copying is not allowed.
(On ADE 1.7.2 properties can be accessed using ctrl-i; probablythe same ADE2.0 as well).
In that case, there is no easy (or legal) workaround.
You could use a screen scraper such as http://sourceforge.net/projects/capture2text/?source=dlp
While not strictly legal most people would be accept that as reasonable for small a small amount of text.
ADE1.7.2 gives a clear 'Permissions set by the publisher of this item restrict copying' message
when attempting to copy from a copy protected book.
When you look at the info you should see something like
Permissions set by the publisher
Allow viewing: on any device
Allow copying: not allowed
Allow printing: not allowed -

Can you please share some details about the crash you are facing?
Did you try installing the latest ADE (4.0.2) and checked if this issue is still present?
Does ADE crashes on all the "acsm/epub" files you open? or some particular one only?
Did you try to open any other e-book? If no, I will suggest that you right click on the book and open it with ADE and see if it works?
If ADE still crashes, then please share the latest crashlog as well. -

Can't read books on KOBE, ADE crashes when I try to open book
ADE 4.02
iMac 10.10.1
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
I reloaded ADE & deleted the book and borrowed it again.
Same result.
=====
Before this books seemed to download ok, but when I bought some books from KOBO some of the library books disappeared and others would only display table of contents, and would exit when I hit next page. Not sure what version of ADE I was using then. KOBO suggested I install 4.0, but sent me a link to 3.0 and I tried both. I called asking if I could return the KOBO and they walked me thru deleted both KOBO and ADE and reinstalling over several hours and borrowing more books, and it crashed. I tried several more times re0initialing my reader but not the 2 apps, and restarting it several times (was actually trying to get it to reset) and it finally started working until I tried to borrow this book.
====
KOBO now says it is an ADE problem and won't help me with it or let me return it. (Wish I had got a Kindle)I tried 3.0 and the latest book now opens and ADE says it is on KOBO after I drag it there, but when I disconnect and open KOBO itself it is not there.

ADE Crashes opening library book from OneClickDigital (Mac OSX 10.9.5)
I'm new to ADE. Our local library started offering eBooks this past week via OneClickDigital.
eReader is ADE. I loaded 4.0 on my Mac and downloaded an eBook. ADE crashes every time I download a book or attempt to open the book.
After the crash, the book appears to be downloaded - I can even open the Mac Finder and see the pdf on my hard drive in Documents->Digital Editions.
I've tried various ways to open the book - double clicking, right-clicking the book icon and selecting read and selecting the book and using the File->Read menu. All of them result in a crash.
Any suggestions? I've seen recommendations to load earlier versions of ADE, but I don't know a legitimate source for that.

ADE 3.0 crashed during Download
Hi, I bought an ebook. During download (still finished) ADE 3.0 crashs...
How can it be?
Please help....
Thanks in advance...Hello Martin,
1. On ADE 3.0, try keyboard shortcut: Command+Shift+D to deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
Now again AUTHORIZE ADE
Help-> authorize computer.
2. For error, "Document is licensed to an other user account.
This error comes when you previously downloaded the book with some other authorization credentials in ADE.
Solutions:
1. Make sure ADE is authorized with same credentials, as it was authorized when book was downloaded for the first time.
Then this error will not come.
Hope this works for you !! -
How to solve ADE crashing on Mac OSX 10.9 when opening library ascm/epub files?
When trying to open some, but not all, epub library books using ADE, ADE sometime simply crashes and quits, for specific books. The only error message I get is "Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly" —which is not a terribly helpful message, since it's pretty obvious what just happened. I'm using a mid 2009 macbook with Mavericks (10.9.5) and some of my library books work just fine, while others crash the machine when I try to read them (the book downloads & shows up in my library, but if I try to read it, ADE crashes & quits. I'm using the same reader, same computer, and same library account for everything I've read using ADE and I cannot find any useful help about why ADE will open some of my library books, but not others, even though they all appear to be in the same format. I was hoping that ADE would get me out from under the tyranny of Kindle and actually be a functional e-reader on my laptop, but so far, that has not been the case.
All 3 of my books transferred over without my having had to do anything at all. If you're worried about retaining books, you could try moving your ADE 4 to an external drive & confirming that your books are also there. I believe that the book information is saved elsewhere (separately from the ADE) and it should simply transfer over, but since I only had three books, all library items, I didn't have much to lose. All I can speak from is my own experience. I had to get rid of ADE 4 in order to successfully install ADE 2.0.

ADE crashes when I try to open acsm file
I downloaded the book from my library website with no problem. When I double click to open it in ADE, it says it's fulfilling, but then crashes with the message "Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly". When I open ADE, the book is on my shelf but doesn't register(says 0 pages of 0 pages). When I try to open that file, it quits unexpectedly again. Help!
Thanks PeterBreis0807, I tried a lot of things in the last few days and what helped in the end was deleting Pages completely and then re-installing the whole program. Which is quite odd, taking into consideration that I just updated it a week ago.
Best, Andi -
Downloaded ADE today, it crashes on startup. I get the windows error, "Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem."
Have re-downloaded the file, uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure it was complete, and no luck.
Windows 8.1x64.One bug in ADE means that a previously running copy just stops working.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above. There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'. The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.
