ADE doesn't support Windows 8

Hi,
After waiting for a week for an answer why I couldn't authentiate my Adode Digital Edition a got an answer from the chat. ADE doesn't support Windows 8!!!
http://www.adobe.com/in/products/digital-editions/tech-specs.html
If you using Windows 7 64-bit you need to get it to run in 32-bit mode!!
What the hell is this!
No workarounds, wait until a upgrade.

I hope they'll release a working, touch-capable version of ADE for win 8, and soon!
I wouldn't hold your breath, the bug-ridden ADE2.0 has been out for over a year with no attempt to fix even the most glaring issues.
The only alternative I know for reading Adobe DRM books on Windows is Sony Reader. https://ebookstore.sony.com/download/
It is designed for use with Sony eReader devices, but works standalone without.
I don't think there is a touch version yet, but maybe (no promises) you will find it a little less bad then ADE?
It does seem to have larger forward/back arrows to touch.

  • Cant restore my previously backed up iphone 4S to my new handset. Doesn't support Windows 8.1?

I have today received a new replacement 4S (like for like swap) and been trying endlessly to restore a previously backed up version of my iphone onto this new device. After a very in-depth support chat, I have been told (by Apple) that itunes does not currently support Windows 8.1 and this is the reason that itunes is not finding my device when it is connected to my laptop.
I have deleted and re-installed itunes, verified the Apple Mobile Device Support is installed, checked USB cables and all other suggestions by both other users and Apple.
Does anyone know when Apple will support Windows 8.1? I think my only option is to wait until it is supported and then restore my iphone. It has so many valuable pictures and contacts on it but I cannot gain access! So frustrating....

iTunes supports Windows 8.1. When the new device is connected to iTunes, does iTunes recognize the device is connected? When you removed and reinstalled iTunes, did you do it according to these instructions exactly? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. Lawrence asked if you have the latest iTunes. If not download it, preferably after removing the old one since you are having connection issues. After this, there should be no problem with iTunes recognizing the phone.

  • ADE doesn't support touch on windows 8???

How am I supposed to read a book on my tablet (win 8) if the software doesn't use touch input for, say, turning the pages?!

I hope they'll release a working, touch-capable version of ADE for win 8, and soon!

  • VISS doesn't support Windows 8.1

VISS will not install on Windows 8.1 and upgrading a Windows 8 system to Windows 8.1 breaks VISS. Verizon says they are working on it. VISS is a rebranded McAfee product, which is very interesting given that the original McAfee version WILL install and operate on Win 8.1. Anyone know when VISS issue will be corrected?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, that's a good question, and the answer is a bit screwy.  Verizon and McAfee point you to Verizon's site to install the Verizon In Home Agent which will supposedly get you to the download page, which is actually http://verizon.com/getviss . BUT you CAN go directly to that page, no In Home Home Agent required.  The download page (verizon.com/getviss) is the screwy part: I could not see all of it from IE 11 or Chrome on my Win 8.1 system, no buttons to push.  BUT it does work from my Win 8 laptop.  Go figure.
SO, on my Win 8.1 system, I screwed with this for a long time, and couldn't get that page to work.  I searched around and found this site to download the VISS installation file directly onto my Win 8.1 system:
    http://lib.giveawayoftheday.com/Verizon_Internet_Security_Suite_42683/
OR, using my Win 8 system, I could get it from that Verizon download page and transfer the installation file to my Win 8.1 system.  Either way, you get the installation file Verizon_IHAMC_VISS.exe to install it on Win 8.1:
        1. Download it.
        2. Run it.  Remember, you have to input the ID and password of your primary Verizon account holder.
        3. When it gets to the installing stage, it will appear to run forever. It isn't.
I closed the main dialog window and hidden behind it, unbeknownst to me, was the window
                  to actually complete the installation.
Click "Continue" and it will complete, just follow the dialog.  Takes a few minutes.
        4.  When all done, VISS will update itself to current definitions and app updates.
How's that for "straight forward"?  :-)  I've run this a couple of times now, works like a charm.  It registers your installation with Verizon and everything.

  • Acrobat 9 pro support windows server 2003 32bit?

in the acrobat 9 pro readme file,I see the system requiement:
    Windows Server® 2003 (with Service Pack 2 for 64-bit);
my question is that does acrobat 9 pro support windows server 2003 32 bit?
I have install it at windows server 2003 32bit,
but when i open it, a message box
"Licensing for this product has stopped working"
i have try the solution in kb405970, and can not resolve it.
so manybe really it doesn't support windows server 2003 32 bit?

John makes some very good points but I would like to clarify one thing from his post: you are planning three migrations:
    1. From 32bit -> 64bit
    2. From Windows to Linux
    3. From Oracle 10gR2 to 11gR2
The second of these is the one most liekly to give you grief. You certainly should not attempt to combine it with a database upgrade. Either move the database to RHEL and then upgrade it, or upgrade it on Windows and then move it to the new server.
Of these, the first is the least controversial. So it's a nice point whether it is worth upgrading from Windows 32bit to Windows 64bit prior to moving to Linux.
    Cheers, APC

  • Windows 8.1 and IE11 - Critical Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'

Our SharePoint 2010 sites don't work very well in Windows 8.1/IE11!!
When opening list items or forms etc we get Critical Error : Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'. It looks like it's possibly linked to InfoPath forms. Given that a large chunk of our users will probably be upgrading
to Windows 8.1 as we speak this is slightly worrying!
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it something to do with our deployment?  We're running SP2010 SP2 with latest CU.

In older versions of IE, attachEvent is
used to attach an event handler for some event on some element. But as per the update , starting with IE11, attachEvent is
deprecated and you should use addEventListener instead.
IE has included support for addEventListener from
IE9 and above only. So if you still need to support IE8, I suggest you use some cross-browser library like jQuery to bind event handlers instead of vanilla javascript.
As you're already using jQuery, you can bind events like below
    $('#yourElement').on('click', function(){
// do something when you click on yourElement

  • 2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033, error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Win

2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033 (both on the mac/windows partitions (actually using a parallel to run Windows)), error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Windows
So the question is am I doing something wrong? Should I just try and install windows 8 through my windows 7 partition and see if I can use the bootcamp 5.05033. Or do I solely have to use the bootcamp to install Windows 8? I'm not too familiar with bootcamp and how it runs.

if you're using parallels and full bootcamp then you're making it 100% more troublesome for youself then it needs to be
bootcamp is running windows directly on the hardware this give full memory and cpu and 3d video game power
running windows in parallels is running a virtual machine where one can't run powerful games and the like but one can have it in a window and change fast between osx and windows
parallels as the only virutal machine (as far as I know) support not have the operating system as a file on the osx harddisk but can access a bootcamp parition as virtual machine but without the benefits bootcamps provides
it's a service parallels provide for those who want both to play games in normal bootcamp and sometimes use windows in a virutal machine
just install it like a normal virtual machine and you need not worry about bootcamp drivers and the likes
plus it would mean that the windows part would be a part of the timemachine bacup of osx
which it is not when it's in bootcamp

  • This ANE doesn't support Desktop(Windows) platform

When I try to add ANE extension to FB 4.7 get this error "This ANE doesn't support Desktop(Windows) platform". Is this a bug ?

By default, when an ANE is imported in to a Flex/ActionScript mobile project, it lets you know what are the un-supported targets for that ANE( i.e., both iOS and Android on device and current desktop) whichever are applicable. So its not a bug, it is the expected behaviour.

  • Video does not play: "Either windows doesn't support the item's file format......"

    Error message
"Either windows doesn't support the item's file format or the content doesn't match the extension"
I have both a Yoga and a Thinkpad 2. The Yoga is running Win 8 and the Thinkpad 2 has 8.1 Preview.
I have copied multiple video files which are in either .avi or .mp4 containers.
Some will play and some will not. I have installed all sorts of codec packages and players and the problem is the same. I though it might be a container problem so I tried to convert the file and the converter I used did not work.
Searched the Internet and nothing really useful was found.
Then I discovered a common thread. In the files that played, the codec information displayed when checking in properties and the ones that did not play, did not have the information.
I have a video file on a USB flash drive and checked the properties and the information was there and I could play it from the flash drive. I copied it to my desktop and the file would not play. In checking, the codec information was not present.
There seems to be an error in copying files where the requisite codec information is not being transferred.
I have tried this multiple times and multiple permutations of transferring. Sometimes it will play from the desktop and will not play after transfer to the microSD card.
Each time when it plays, the information is there and each time it does not play, the information is not there.

The problem is the period at the end. This system assumes it
to be part of the url. I should have put a space and the end of the
url before using a period to close the sentence. try this one:
    http://www.aaew.org/intro.swf
    http://www.scofieldministries.org/webtest/mv1.swf
    http://www.scofieldministries.org/webtest
Please note that just the home page and supporting files have
been loaded to the test server.
    Thanks,

  • Importing video frames to layers - Photoshop doesn't support it on my version of Windows??

Ok I really need help - my laptop hard drive died yesterday and I had to get a new one. I've just booted up Photoshop on my new hard drive and it's saying it doesn't support importing video frames to layers on this version of Windows. It's Windows 7 - the same version I had yesterday (as far as I know). Does anyone know how to fix this?? I don't want to pay for someting I can't even use!!

Also, you can make sure your system is 64 bit capable by:
Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Performance Information and Tools.
    Click View and print details.
In the System section, you can see what type of operating system you're currently running under System type. Under 64-bit capable, you can see whether you can run a 64-bit version of Windows. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won't see the 64-bit capable listing.)

P.s. The Web server is  a Window Server 2003 R2 standard edition

Perhaps using [modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] will at least tell us what dlls are loading. Look at the CR dlls. There should not be any v11 files loaded by your app.
You may also start considering obtaining phone support for this one. I have a feeling this will take more than just forums to solve...
