ADE won't recognize my NOOK, stumped

Just downloaded ADE, trying to put books on my simple NOOK, but it won't recognize my device. I made sure I had it connected and reopened ADE and still nothing.

I'm having the same issue, but with my Nook app on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.  I can read the books (or at least, one of the two I've bought with ADE) on the Aldiko reader on the same phone, but not on the Nook app that I just downloaded -- even though the books show up there!  I get a message saying "Could not open.  User is not activated on ADE."

  • ADE Does Not Recognize My NOOK Tablet

I have searched the forum for answers, but so far no one seems to have the same problem I am experiencing. I have been using a Win 7 PC to download EPUB books from my local library for nearly two years with no problems. Seemingly overnight ADE no longer recognizes my NOOK. I have tried rebooting the PC, uninstalling/reinstalling both ADE 1.7.2 and 2.0 (I am now back to 1.7.2 after seeing other posts re: 2.0). I have unauthorized and reauthorized ADE, and it still does not recognize my NOOK when it is plugged in. The cord/connection seem to be fine; I can see the NOOK in Explorer, but not with ADE. I have also deleted the ".adobe-digital-editions" and "digital editions" folders on the root of the NOOK's drive to initiate the download process. No luck so far; does anyone have any ideas on next steps? Thank you

With Sony ereaders you must have some extra Sony software.
If you don't, you get exactly what you see; the device is seen in Explorer but not in ADE.
I don't know if there is anything similar with the Nook, but I mention it just in case.
    In the case of the Sony, the extra software is installed with Sony Reader software;
but you don't have to run the Sony Reader for the extra software to have its effect on ADE.
If for some odd reason you can't get the Nook recognized,
you should still be able to borrow books as usual and download the file using ADE,
and then transfer the .epub file to the Nook using Explorer.
As long as the Nook is still authorized with your ID, you will be able to read the books on the Nook.
A bit more of a faff than direct ADE transfer, but not too inconvenient.

  • ADE will not recognize my Nook

I have tried and tried and tried and tried, did I say I tried? to get ADE to recognize my Nook, it won't. I've signed in, my computer is authorized, etc. Yet, it will not recognize my device. I cannot find anything in the menus to remedy this. Any help would be appreciated. Gary

Jim, Thanks for your response.  Yes, I have used the same Adobe ID.  Here's the current status per your question:
    1.   With ADE active and my Nook hooked up, my Nook appears as a "device" on the "Devices and Printers" window (in Windows 7).  The Nook's property status reports "This device is working properly".
    2.   In the "Computer" window, the Nook does NOT appear as a drive.  The Nook also does NOT appear in the "Safely Remove Hardware & Eject Media" window when I remove it from the computer.
What action should I take?  Thanks very much for your assistance.

  • Using Digital Editions on PC with multiple devices. DE won't recognize the Nook HD when I connect so I can't transfer ebooks to it.

I tried creating a new ID and installing another DE for that ID. Still won't recognize Nook HD. Help!

I would say this is not a question for the Reader forum, but for the Digital Editions one

  • ADE won't read my Nook?

I've read previous threads regarding this issue and have tried the instructions listed but without results. My question is really if there's something I've missed or can also try? I purchased my Nook back in Aug 2011 and used to just download my ebooks via B&N. I want to put other ebooks on my Nook though but got the "not authorized" error. I downloaded ADE, authorized it with my ID and checked to be sure it was my Nook's ID as well (I'm assuming that means same email address and password?). Still can't get it to work.
So I saw the issues regarding the two folders needing to be deleted. After fixing the "hidden" folder issue on my Mac (which is my main computer), I deleted the .adobe-digital-editions folder. Still can't get ADE to read. I've seen a lot of solutions mention a second folder on the Nook drive called "Digital Editions". I can't find it. I DO have a folder named that in my documents though. I've tried deleting it as well but to no avail. It reappears the moment I load ADE again. Same goes with the .adobe file on the actual Nook drive. The moment I eject and reload my Nook, the folder is back. Doesn't matter if I deleted it by dragging to trash (and emptying it) or by using Terminal and the tricker code there. It just reappears much to my never ending frustration.
So I'm at a loss. It seems that these methods have worked for others and yet I've done exactly as the steps say (and even tried keeping the NOOK plugged in and relaunching ADE or vice versa) and nothing seems to work.
Is there something I'm missing? Or is there another method I can try?

Try v1.7.2 instead.  Much more tolerant and less full of bugs.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • FCPX won't recognize projects/events on my External Hard Drive

I have all my projects and events for FCPX on my external hard drive because my MacBook Air does not have enough room for it. I've been working on my Air for a couple years and I just got a iMac. I thought it would be simple enough just to plug in my hard drive into my iMac and it would recognize everything, but sadly it isn't. I've looked everywhere and I couldn't find any fixed for it. I can just create new events from my old events but that would take alot of work. I thought there would be an easier way to be able to import all my old events/project and start working on them.
*Also when I create an event on my iMac external hard drive, it puts it will all my old events in the same folder, but still won't recognize them. Stumped
    Thanks

You'll be updating to FCP X 10.1.1.  It uses Libraries now, whole different thing.

  • Won't recognize my ereader/nook

I got a new nook and now digital editions won't recognize it when I plug in. With my old device it just popped up, but now, nothing. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. What do I do?

    For the Error : E_auth_not_ready.
    Follow these steps,
    1. Launch Adobe Digital Editions
    2. Keeping ADE progarm active one your screen, Hold Ctrl+Shift+D keys.
         - you will get a prompt window to Erase Authorization (ADE 2.0) & Deauthorize (ADE 1.7.2)
         - Deauthorize ADE and Re-launch it.
    3. Navigate to Help > Authorize ADE (in ADE 2.0) & Library > Authorize ( in ADE 1.7.2, usually you will be prompted to authorize when you launch the program ) .

  • ?my ADE is not recognizing the Nook HD+.

I have authorized my HD+ with my email and number.  I attached the HD+ to my computer.  Then I opened ADE.  It still is not recognizing my nook.  What am I missing.

    ADE does not recognize tablets.
You can transfer files downloaded to ADE using file manager (windows expolorer, mac finder) to mounted drive, or by something like Dropbox.
As long as ADE and the tablet app are registered to the same user, you should be able to read the book on the tablet.
You may need top open it explicitly, it may not automatically turn up in the app's library.

  • ADE doesn't recognize Sony Reader in Mac OS 10.5 after Sony EBL 3.0 update

I've got a PRS-505, and I just put Sony eBook Library 3.0 on my Mac laptop running Leopard 10.5, but Adobe Digital Editions still won't recognize the Reader when I plug it in.
I've tried deauthorizing the computer and the device, and reinstalling ADE. The Reader works with eBook Library, and it still works with ADE on my old Windows machine.
But, whenever I plug in my Reader on the Mac, it gets recognized by EBL but not ADE. Nothing happens in ADE.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    YEAY!
I just got the solution (that worked for me, anyway) from a Sony support rep. No PC or VMWare needed.
OK, you've installed Sony eBook Library v3, and Adobe Digital editions, you've set up your acocunts and authorized your computer on both of them, and you've authorized your Reader with the Sony Library application.
You go to the public library ebook download page, either through the Sony Library or just through a bookmark.
You check out a book, and open it in Adobe Digital Editions, which still won't recognize your Reader.
BUT, in the Sony Library app, you can now click "File, Import.." and go find the pdf you downloaded with the Adobe app.
On my Mac, it was in ~/Documents/Digital Editions
Import it, and drag it to your Reader.
The first time you do this, it will ask you to authorize the Reader with your Adobe ID.
    Worked like a charm.

  • Old mac won't recognize OS 10 disks for installation to allow upgrade.

I have an old Power Macintosh G3 300 Desktop (M7105LL/A) currently running OS 9.1. I want to upgrade to OS 10.3 or 10.4 (I have both disk sets).
I tried starting up from either of the disk but the PM won't recognize the 10.4 or start up from the 10.3. I get error messages offering to erase the 10.4. The 10.3 starts up on my mac in OS 9.1 even with "C" held down.
I somehow did this once b4 but do not remember the trick I used.
Unfotunately as my printer and internet did not work went back to OS 9.1 but now I am willing to work on those isses but cannot even get to that point.
Many internet sites won't work with OS 9.1 so I do need to up grade.
Note that when I start these disks from my mac laptop running OS 10 they are recognized? I'm stumped and need help.

Hi, I am tring to bring an old indigo imac g3 500Mhz 20Gb HD into the present day for my mother-in-law and have just put in 1Gb ram in order to install either 10.3 or 10.4 (I have been told that 10.5 is a no go). I have two copies of 10.4 that came with an old ibook G4 and a Mac Mini G4 and also a copy of 10.3 that also came with the Mac Mini. None will install on the iMac G3 with the note "this operating system and softare bundle cannot be installed on this Mac" (incidentally, although I am not sure this is relevant, I am using the DVD drive on my MacBook Pro by firewire link as the G3 only has a CD-Rom drive). I believe that if I buy a retail copy it will work, but at £90 it's maybe not worth it having just spent £70 on the Ram, however as I no longer use any of the other copes of 10.3/10.4 mentioned on another Mac I feel agrieved that I cannot use one of these. Does anyone know a way that will let me install one of the copies that I already have? Any help much appreciated.

  • Why does adobe digital editions not recognize my nook?

Why would adobe digital editions not recognize my nook when I connect the nook through the usb port?

Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry for the late response. I'm trying to do this for my mum on her computer, but I don't live with her, so it can be hard for me to find the spare time to get to her place.
Okay, let me start by listing a few things in dot points:
    - Adobe Digital Editions does not recognise the device. There doesn't even appear to be any menu options for a "device" anywhere in the program.
    - When I connect the device to the computer, the screen lights up and the word "USB" appears on it, so it is definitely noting the PC connection. However, no device appears in "My Computer" (running Windows XP). Tried using "Add Devices", but it couldn't find anything.
    - Yellowstone, the brand, appears to be a product of JB Hifi, the store she purchased it from, and has no website or online software/drivers.
    - I downloaded Calibre as you said. It seems a lot cheaper, but has easier to read options. However, it still won't let me load to my device (the text is greyed-out). I assume this means the program is not recognising the device either.
Not sure what to do now, kinda run out of ideas. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thakns Linda.

  • Brand new 20" iMac won't recognize Ethernet cable - can't get online

I just got my iMac and cannot get the ethernet cable to recgonize. I know it works b/c I'm using it this very moment to type this on my Powerbook. When I plug it into the PB, I get the yellow, then the green once it connects. However, when I plug it into the iMac, I get nothing. I thought maybe I needed to configure Built-In Ethernet, but it won't let me select configure or connect. The assistant won't recognize it either. I posted in the Tiger forum mistakenly, but thought this forum would be more appropriate. This is what I posted (for more detail):
I just unboxed my new iMac and can't get on the internet (I'm on my powerbook). The problem is this; in Network, it says "The cable for Built-In Ethernet is not plugged in." Only, it is. Can't be the cable b/c that's the cable I'm connected with right now. So, I go through "assist me" and when I click on "Assistant" it takes me to the Intro page where I'm supposed to give a Location Name. I do this, calling it "home." The ver next screen, after clicking "continue" takes me to "How do you connect to the internet?" The problem here is that, of the 5 options, only one is selectable. Airport is the only one that can be selected?? "I use a telephone modem to dial my ISP" as well as "DSL Modem/Cable/Lan" are all greyed out..they cannot be selected. I use an ethernet cable. Why is this not able to be selected? It's very frustrating. I've turned off Airport and Bluetooth, yet I still cannot check any of these. I need to check "I use a cable modem to dial my ISP" but I can't b/c it won't allow me. Can anyone help me here? I can't use my brand new iMac and it's kind of a bummer. I thought these things were plug and play? Thank

Well I tried that and nothing. I'm completely stumped. I have no idea why this is happening. And it's weird b/c, everytime I'm jumping back on here, I'm just unhooking the ethernet cable from the iMac and plugging it into my PB. And, nearly immediately, i'm up and running, connected with the PB. How can it work on the PB and not on the iMac? And why would those options be grayed out on the iMac? It's like it just refuses to let me check them and/or configure. That is very weird.

  • ADE does not recognize my Samsung Galaxy Tab Samsung SM-T310

I'm using Windows Vista, I updated ADE today, but when I run it, there is no device. Calibre sees my device just fine, and so does Windows Explorer.
Because of this, I cannot view or read the books I borrow from the public library.  (I don't use ADE to read, I don't read on the laptop (really really not an option for visual comfort reasons)). I just want to read the library books on my tab, so if there is a work around, would love to know, as I suspect my device is not supported, yes I checked the blog, and there is a generic listing on the 'supported devices' page,  Samsung Electronics co. LTD eBook Reader on Galaxy Tab Android
    Thanks for reading,
    Ingrid

FYI, I have ADE version 4 and can't get my ADE to recognize my Nook reader.  My mother, OTOH, has ADE version 3 on her computer, and just now her ADE did recognize her Nook.  The library book she downloaded this evening has now been transferred to her Nook.
My conclusion:  if your troublesome ADE is version 4, perhaps you could try uninstalling that version, put on version 3, and see if that version will recognize your device.
