ADF-BC webservices and MDS

Hi gurus,
I have exposed my application module as a webservice. Now I want to store them in MDS and also want to refer them from MDS. I have following questions around this
1. What advantage I would get if I store them in MDS? I believe all consumer projects can refer to same location as source of truth. I see there are blogs to store SOA artifacts in MDS but I could not find anything for ADF-BC webservices.
2. In a typical ADF project, what all artifacts I should consider to store in MDS?
3. How would we migrate MDS artifacts from development repository to production repository?
4. How would I configure my ADF project so that it can refer correct repository in development and production environment.
5. How to push these ADF-BC webservices in MDS repository?
6. How would other consumer project refer these WSDL/XSD from repository?
7. How would I perform endpoint correction in WSDLs stored in MDS?
Thanks
Sanjeev

Thank you for this information. It helps.
Few more questions now.
Why we use MDS in SOA project to store wsdl/xsd but same is not true in case of ADF project?
From producer side, I believe, in ADF project I just need to create a deployment profile of type 'Businss components Service interface'. And when we deploy it on app-server, web-service would get deployed. Right?
Now from consumer side, They would like to create proxy or data-control for that webservice. Producer should provide wsdl url to them. What is good practice here, should producer give them url from deployed web-service? When both producer and consumer will move to production environment endpoint url of consumer needs to be changed. How would we handle it?
If consumer wants to invoke a webservice created by SOA application and its wsdl is available in MDS. Can consumer create datacontrol/proxy based on wsdl, which is present in mds. How? Is it good practice to refer MDS or ADF developer should not use MDS at all and use deployed webservice url.
Thanks
Sanjeev.

  • Mds-soa and mds-owsm

    Dear all,
I apologize for this basic question.
I just finished the installation of the SOA suite, and when I try to access the mds-soa and mds-owsm metadata repositories from the EM, I get an ORA-00942 error, which I get as well when I start the soa_server1 server.
I executed RCU and the soa installation produced no errors.
Any help of pointers will be greatly appreciated.

  • What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config - when delpoy ?

What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config? When I create navigation between pages with ADF task flow then the navigation don't work when I deploy my application to Weblogic 10.3. When I use default server then navigation works fine. With Faces_config in both situations all works ok - on Stanalone server and default.
    Where is the problem?
    Best regards!

Shay, I don't use both faces-config and adf task flow! When I failed with task flow I tried faces-config.
I have active on my weblogic - adf.oracle.domain(1.0,11.1.1.0.0). This is the right ADF? If yes then where is the problem?
    Best regards!

I found a way to get the soap request into an xml document.
It was not intuitive to me but works.
    Basically rereading this post:
    http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/messages.cfm/forumid:4/threadid:44797#233359
gave me more insight. The tostring function appears to allow me to
get the raw xml that CF is struggling to noodle out.

  • Webservice and BPM; connection AFW failed

I have created the following integration process:
    1. Asynchronous receive step of a xml file;
    2. Synchronous send step to invoke webservice;
    3. Asynchronous send step of the response file.
In this process XI will read a xml file from a directory on the server, convert this file to a SOAP request, call the webservice and convert the SOAP response to a xml file. This file is then sent to the same server directory.
When I look in SXMB_MONI the whole process is set to ok. The response of the webservice is in the payload of the XI response message. (This is the message from my integration process to the inbound message interface.).
But the response file never reached its destination.
When I look at the file adapter monitor it reports: "Up and running - no message processing until now".
And when I look at the message monitoring, there are the following messages:

  • IDoc to webservice and get the response back into another IDoc.

    Hi guys
We have a scenario where we need to send an IDoc to webservice and get the response back into another IDoc.
    Questions:
    1. Is this scenario possible without a BPM? or do we need to use BPM (Sync-Async bridge).
    2. Is there a Async to Sync bridge in BPM?
    3. How do I use this bridge in my scenario and customize it?
    4. If not possible, provide me the related docs using BPM for the same scenario.
    Appreciate your quick response

  • Af:query and MDS for persisting searches

I have seen several references to persisting searches using the af:query component and MDS, but I can't find any information on how to do it. Can somebody please post some info on this topic? Is there an uptake doc or an example app that demonstrates how this is done?
I have looked on the Oracle doc site: http://fmwdocs.us.oracle.com/doclibs/fmw/E10285_01/appsdrop.htm
And I have searched the forums with no luck.
    I am using Build JDEVADF_MAIN_GENERIC_081208.2002.5237.
    Thanks!

    Mike,
You're obviously an Oracle employee with access to internal Oracle websites and builds that the rest of the world cannot see.
You should ask on the internal Oracle forum.

  • Why ADF Business Components and TopLink

    Hi All,
Why are there two types of components in Businses Tier? (ADF Business Components and TopLink). Even through there are other types, I can visualize the use of other components but ADF Business Components & TopLink seems to serve the same requirement.
Can some one provide me information on what is the difference between these two and when to use which one?

ADF Business Components (aka BC4J) are different from Toplink from approach point of view. Basically if you are more comfortable with SQL and want fine grain control over what and how SQL are run against the database, BC4J is the way to go, because, it's you who write the queries(in ViewObjects)
If you are from more of java backgroup and can visualize things in term of Object and relationships among objects, so on and so forth then Toplink would be the right choice.
Pls see the post by Shay in his blog:

  • Webservice and UI codes in one application

    Hi,
We have two applications, one for the UI and one for web services. Both of them have Model project. Hence, we are thinking of merging then into one application which contains three projects: UI, Web services and Model so that both UI and Web services share the same Model project, no redundant codes. Just wondering is that a good design, will there be any issues? So can it be generated two deployment EARs files within one application?
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    -Mina

you can have your approach itself.. but.. both webservice and the UI project will be have a dependency on the model project.. but you cannot reuse the model project any where else..
the suggestion given by shay, helps you to use the model library in both UI and webservice.. and can also extend to any other project which needs to access the model project..
in this case you are refering only the libraries of model project.. so no direct depenedency..

  • ADF BC: createInsert and partial trigger

I notice when i add a createInsert operation to my page and then the corresponding table, JDev will add a partialTrigger to the button.
    I don't see why.
When i press the createInsert, the table should have the partialTrigger, not the createInsert button because the table should be refreshed in order to show the new row. But when i add the partialTrigger to the table, than it like an infinite loop. Table refreshes button, button refreshed table,...
It's resolved by removing the partialTrigger from the button but i am wondering why jdev does it?
I think it has something to do with the disabled state of the button but that does not make sense. THe same for the commit button. If you want everything to work with partialTriggers, then you have lots of buttons/tables linking to each other causing loops or does ADF notices that and takes care of it?

    Hi,
I reproduce your case and I do not see any loop,
about your question that why the createInsert need the partialtrigger :
1-first of all it is because of the the disabled attribute which depends on the table
2- Second, the table row selection is automatically partial, I mean when you click on the row partially the selected row is determind as it is done partially there is not any way
for depended components on the table to notify about the state of the tree(changes of row or anything) so the depended component such as CreateInsert need to set the partial trigger.
3-why the table does not need the partialtrigger at the time of drag and drop, the answer is easy because the default button that you drop on the page is not partialSubmit, so why any other depended component like Table, must have the partialtrigger?? it is only needed when the button is partialSubmit,
I hope my answer is clear enough.
to conclude, there is not any mistake or bug from Oracle for sure.

  • Differences  between webservice and proxy

    Hi guys.
Which are the differences between webservices and proxys?
If I have a XI adapter (proxy) or Soap Adapter in Pi in both a Proxy Abap is created in SEECC to consume the service so I cant see the differences...
    Regards

If I wanted to consume a webservice exposed in Pi by a Sender SOAP Sender, what would I have to do?
Nothing exceptional.....just define a message structure in PI....create a message interface....generate a WSDL for this Message Interface.....use the URL from this WSDL to send message.....it is a normal SOAP --> XI scenario.....many references are readily available on How to do this.

  • Query SAP BW via XMLA Webservice and save response to HD

    Hi,
I´m currently working for an QM Project to create an Overview-page with figures from various BW-Querys. Unfortunatly the the BW-Performance isn´t fast enough to execute a lot of Querys in realtime, so I can´t use the Web App Designer.
To improve performance I want to execute those querys once a day and save the result sets on hard disk. To get the data out of the BW I want to use the XMLA-Webservice which is already running.
Is there a simple way or application to send my XMLA to the webservice and save the response on hard disk?

You can use XMLA web service or the queryview web service to get the data in XML format. The queryview XML service is only available from BW 3.5, see attached documentation.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d8/3bfc3f8fc2c542e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Ther is also an How to document available for XMLA under the BW 3.0B section.
If you are looking at a report with no navigation you can use the pre-calculation of the web reports with reporting agent which will create a pre-calculated HTML output on the BW server. Everytime you access the web report the pre-calculated HTML output will be displayed and the performance is great as the data is not accessed at runtime.

  • Can we wrap a RFC as webservice  and use from external java application ?

    Hi Friends ,
Our scenario is  call a webservice ( wrapped form of RFC)  from a external  java application  which will pass the input to that webservice and get back the result  .
How XI will play a role here ?
Can we wrap a rfc as web service  ?
                           Any blogs for that ?
Can you please give a brief details about this ?
                          Expecting yoour asap
    Best Regards .,
    V.Rangarajan

    Hi
Can we wrap a rfc as web service ?
    Yes.
<i>To use the SAP Web AS 6.40 you need to build a wrapper in the 6.40 system. This is a remote function call (RFC) enabled function module with the same interface or a similar interface that internally calls the required RFC-enabled function module in the old 4.6x system via RFC. The wrapper then can be exposed to the outside world as a Web service. Another option is to use the Integration Broker capabilities for calling Web services in an older system.</i>
How XI will play a role here ?
XI will pass the input to the external java application and get back the result to the webservice

  • How to use Adaptive WebService Model with CAF WebService and Complex Type

    Hi All,
I am trying to use the Adaptive Web Service Model and call a WebService generated by the CAF. The return type of the WebService is a Complex Type.. I receive an exception when trying to instantiate the Model Node.
Does anybody know how to use the Adpative Web Service Model with CAF WebServices and Complex Types as return type?
    Help is appreciated..
    Thanks, Johannes

    Thanks Mukesh.
It is not possible to apply the Service Controller Template on Enterprise Java Bean Models as described in the Document. When I try to aply the template on the EJB Model, NWDS says: Only Webservice Models and RFC Models are supported...???
I did not find any information about how to return complex types in AWS.. in this document???
Is there such information available? Has anybody ever done that? There must be a way to do that.. Is is the standard approach, isn't it...? Please help me out there.. I need to get this running..
