Hi Mark,
If you want i can take a look on it. We are using jdev 903/BIB903 accessing an AW created at Oracle OLAP 9205 with AWM. Faced a lot of problems to understand the metadata layer created to make Express work with RDBMS but system is up and running.
Please send it at [email protected] .

  • ADF Best Practices Document

    Where can I find ADF Best Practices document ?

    With version 10.1.2, the lack of a Best Practices book, left developers to "hunt and peck" through numerous documents, forum msgs, etc.
    Plain and simply, there should be a doc that says how to do standard things with ADF.
    1. So you want to Create a record...
    - pre-populating the record
    - handling the auditing
    - proper handling of PKs generated by triggers
    - avoiding the blank row issue
    - propagating changes to the database both with default ADF handling or overriding ADFs dml to use stored proc calls.
    - validating the record
    - standard html controls and how they are used (radios, check boxes, text boxes, list dropdowns)
    etc. etc.

  • Best practice for highly available management / publishing servers

    I am testing a highly available appv 5.0 environment, which will deploy appv packages to a Xenapp farm.  I have two SQL 2012 servers configured as an availability group for the backend, and two publishing / management servers for the front end.
    What is the best practice to configure the publishing / management servers for high availability?  Should I configure them as an NLB cluster, which I have tested and does seem to work, or should I just use the GPO to configure the clients to use both
    publishing servers, which I have also tested and appears to work?
    Thanks,
    Patrick Sullivan

    In App-V 5.0 the Management and Publishing Servers are hosted in IIS, so use the same approach for HA as you would any web application.
    If NLB is all that's available to you, then use that; otherwise I would recommend a proper load balancing solution such as Citrix NetScaler or KEMP LoadManager.

  • Updated "Selecting the Best Compiler Options" now available

    The technical article "Selecting the Best Compiler Options" by Darryl Gove has been updated for Sun Studio 12 Update 1 and is now available at:
    http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/documentation/techart/compiler_flags/
    Here's the abstract:
    +This article suggests how to get the best performance from an
    UltraSPARC or x86/EMT64 (x64) processor running on the latest Solaris
    platforms by compiling with the best set of compiler options and the
    latest compilers. These are suggestions of things you should try, but
    before you release the final version of your program, you should
    understand exactly what you have asked the compiler to do.+

    Ok sorry I've taken so long to respond.  The reply button wouldn't pop up for me to reply!
    There was never a dialog box asking for me to select the program from installed programs when I open the pdf from outlook express.  But when I opened a pdf from my desktop it asked that question and I had it "always use this program to open this type of file." So I assumed that it was would work when opening from outlook express.  But it doesn't.
    I've tried unclicking the protected mode button under the preferences general section.  And finally I'm not sure how to post screenshots of the attachment thumbnail and dialog.  I'm looking all over my keyboard for a button to push I don't have a clue as to what to do!  I do have a print Scr button but when I click on it nothing happens.  I've tried holding down the shift key and the button and the alt key and print scr button but nothing happens.
    Could it be that somehow it's not recognizing ARCO.EXCH.DOCUMENT as that's what it thinks the type of document is?
    I've already created an association for pdf files and it'll open them on my desktop, just not in outlook express.

  • ADF Best Practice

    What is the best practice on developing a mobile device for multiple platforms (i.e. iPhone and iPad). Is there a way to display different data depending on the platform?

    ADF Mobile takes care of the same for you, you won't need to do anything specific AFAIK.

  • Best Practices and Maximum Availability

    We are on the upgrade path going from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2. I was excited when reading about Transient Logical Standby and how it could cut down your time to just a few minutes of outage. However, I found that we are unable to use it because we have data types that can not be used with Logical Standbys. I was hoping that someone could point me to another Whitepaper or documentation of best practices of upgrading with a Physical Standby from 10g to 11g.
    Regards
    Tim

    Thank you for the reference. It is an interesting concept with the transportable tablespaces. I will have to read this in a little more detail. I am not sure how I get my physical standby back into place. I don't want to have to rebuild it...but maybe the document covers that as well (I didn't see it on the first read).
    Thanks for the information.
    Regards
    Tim

  • Best practice for High availability design, HSRP

    Hi,
    I am planning to create High Availability for LAN to WAN connectivity.
    But I want to know your opinion about the best way how to do this. I googled for a solution/best way how to do this, but I didn't found in my opinion right answer.
    The situation:
    I have 2 3945E Routers and 2 3560 switches. The design that I am planning to implement is below.
    The main goal is to have redundant connection, whatever one of the devices will fail. For example, if the R1 will fail, R2 should become active, if the SW1 will fail, the SW2 will take care about reachability and vice versa. The router 1 should be preferred always, if the link to ISP isn't down, because of greater bandwidth. So why am I drown 2 connections to 2 separate switches. If the SW1 will fail, I will still have a connection to WAN using R1 router.
    The Router interface should be configured with sub interfaces (preferred over secondary IP address of interface), because more than 10 subnets will be assigned to the LAN segment. The routers have 4 Gi ports.
    HSRP must be enabled on LAN side, because PC's on LAN must have redundant def. getaway.
    So, the question is - what is the best and preferred way to do this?
    In my opinion, I should use BVI and combine R1 routers 2 interfaces in to logical one and do the same for the R2.
    Next, turn the router in to L3 switch using IRB and then configure HSRP.
    What would be your preferred way to do this?

    Hi Audrius,
    I would suggest you to go with HSRP. GLBP you will use where you want load balance.
    I think the connectivity between your Routers (3945) and switches (3560) is gigabit connection which is high speed. So keep one physical link from your switches to each router and do HSRP on those router physical interfaces.
    In this way you will have high availability like if R1 fails then R2 will take over.
    Regarding the config see the below which I have for one of my Customer DC.
    ACTIVE:
    track 1 interface GigabitEthernet0/0 line-protocol
    track 2 interface GigabitEthernet0/0 line-protocol
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    ip address 10.10.10.12 255.255.255.0
    ip nat inside
    ip virtual-reassembly
    duplex full
    speed 100
    standby use-bia scope interface
    standby 0 ip 10.10.10.10
    standby 0 priority 110
    standby 0 preempt
    standby 0 authentication peter2mo
    standby 0 track 1 decrement 30
    standby 0 track 2 decrement 30
    STANDBY:
    track 1 interface GigabitEthernet0/0 line-protocol
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    ip address 10.10.10.11 255.255.255.0
    ip nat inside
    ip virtual-reassembly
    duplex full
    speed 100
    standby use-bia scope interface
    standby 0 ip 10.10.10.10
    standby 0 priority 90
    standby 0 authentication peter2mo
    standby 0 track 1 decrement 30
    Please rate the helpfull posts.

  • ADF Best Practice : About user session management in ADF BC

    Hi,
    I'm using ADF BC and I want to manage information specific to a particular user.
    In the developer's guide at §9.10 it is advised to use APIs relative to DBTransaction class through the getSession and getUserData methods.
    I have several questions :
    * are Session objects returned by ApplicationModuleImpl.getSession() and DBTransaction.getSession() the same ?
    * is it safe to manage user information by using the map returned by the oracle.adf.share.ADFContext.getSessionScope() method ?
    * finally, which is the recommended approach and what are the caveats of each ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Seb.

    Here is the code fragment :
       * Return the jhsUser object.
       * For this method to return an object, the user object must have called setUser
       * on the application module
      public Object getUser()
        Object user = ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope().get(JhsUser.JHS_USER_KEY);
        if (user!=null)
          return user;
        // code below for backwards compatibility
        if (getSession()==null)
          return null;
        return getSession().getUserData().get(JhsUser.JHS_USER_KEY);
       * Stores user object as am session userdata.
       * @deprecated user is now retrieved using pull meachnism with ADFContext, instead of
       * push.
      public void setUser(Object user)
        getSession().getUserData().put(JhsUser.JHS_USER_KEY, user);
      }Notice the deprecated method setUser.
    Seb.

  • Best practice question for Availability Groups setup

    I have created a 2012 WFC with 2 nodes (server 1 and server2). Each node will host 2 instance of SQL Server 2014. I am planning to use 2 Availability Groups.
    So
    Server1\instance A
    Server1\instance B
    Server2\instance A
    Server2\instance B
    Thus "instance A" will have AG_A
    instance B will have AG_B,
    What is the recommend configuration for configuring the Quorum witness?  A file share or disk witness?  Note that the WFC does not have any shared disks since I'm only using AG (not a clustered SQL server service).
    Thanks,
    Pete

    What is the version of operating system. If you are any OS version lower than Windows 2012 then you need to add one more voter for quorum.

  • Auto-Anchor Controller's Best Practice

    Hi All,
    I got confused with this setup. I have 2 Wlc's.One is the internal controller and another one configured for the anchor controller (different subnet-DMZ zone) for guest traffic. Where do i configure DHCP assignment for this users..? Should Production controller intervine in this dhcp process or shall i direct to Anchor to take care of everything..? which is recommended ?
    And also any best practice doc is available for this ..?
    Please help...
    thanks in advance.

    Prasan,
    Just keep in mind that there are best practices that are published and best practices that you learn from experience. Being a consultant, I get to implement wireless in various networks and everyone's network is quite different. Also code versions can change a best practice because of bug issues or how a standard might of changed and how that standard was implemented in code. The biggest best practice secret is really working with various client devices, scanner's, laptops, smartphones, etc., and seeing how those change because of newer models and it firmware updates. It's amazing to understand how some devices will require a few checkboxes in the WLAN to be disabled compared to others. Even with anchoring for guest and using a custom WebAuth to make sure the splash page works with various types of browsers.
    What I can say is to always try the defaults if possible when you have issues and then enable things one by one.
