ADF Faces.NEXT - When is it going to be available?

Does anyone know when the ADF Faces.NEXT is scheduled to be released? I've looked at the on-line seminars (by Jonas Jacobi) showing the features of Faces.NEXT. However there is no information on when Oracle plans to release these components.

Hi,
These components are still in very early development stage and as such it is hard to schedule a release date for them. You will notice on OTN when the first release is available for evaluation.

  • ER - Problem with ADF Faces filter when running ADF Faces within a portlet

    I am attempting to get ADF Faces to run within Oracle Portal, i.e. within a portlet using the JPDK.
    This, I am sure you are about to tell me, is not something that is fully supported, as yet.
    However, I have been successful in getting MyFaces to run within a portlet, by customizing the form tag.
    MyFaces, it seems, keeps track of the current viewid by storing it in the session, then uses this within the viewhandler and navigationhandler to determine the next view to load, based on the faces-config.xml navigation entries.
    By customizing the form tag it is then possible to retrieve this viewid from the faces context and outputting it in the form's action parameter.
    It is also possible, with a few more customizations, to run JSF RI within a portlet, i.e. by adding a custom viewhandler and loading a session variable with the current viewid from the faces context, then retrieving the viewid and outputting it as the action string in the customized form tag .
    Unfortunately there does not appear to be any way of getting ADF Faces (EA19 version) to run as a portlet, with either the RI or with MyFaces.
    I have configured a basic .jspx document in the <showPage> tags of the provider.xml file.
    This uses only the form tag and a few input tags and works when executed directly within my portlet project in JDeveloper (http://localhost:8988/TestJSFAppContext/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx) using a redirectfilter (*.jspx htdocs -> /faces/htdocs).
    It is not possible to run ADF Faces with RI as a portlet since customization of the ADF Faces ViewHandler appears not to be supported.
    When attempting to run this with MyFaces as a portlet, however, I get the following message:
    oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl verifyFilterIsInstalled
    WARNING: The AdfFacesFilter has not been installed. ADF Faces requires this filter for proper execution.
    I am having difficulty in understanding as to why this is happening but am guessing it must be something to do with either redirect URLs or due to the .jspx files being under /htdocs, i.e. the ADF Faces renderkit is checking that the ADF Faces filter is configured but the check fails since the filter does not execute.
    I have configured the filter in web.xml, as detailed in the documentation:
      <filter>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
      <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>and have modified the provider.xml file as follows:-
          <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
             <renderContainer>true</renderContainer>
             <renderCustomize>true</renderCustomize>
             <autoRedirect>true</autoRedirect>
             <contentType>text/html</contentType>
      <showPage>/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx</showPage>
             <editPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditPage.jsp</editPage>
             <editDefaultsPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditDefaultsPage.jsp</editDefaultsPage>
          </renderer>with the following tags also set:
       <session>true</session>
       <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams>In order to ensure that the session stays alive so that the views are retrieved.
    As I say, the page loads OK when run directly within the JPDK project within JDeveloper, with a redirect filter (*.jspx -> /faces/*.jspx) but not when run from within Oracle Portal.
    In fact I have found that this filter is very sensitive, i.e. ADF Faces will not run in any project unless the configuration is exactly as above.
    It seems that the MyFaces team have got around the problem of maintaining session state with redirections but that ADF Faces needs the page URL that is passed in to the filter to be consistent.
    Is there some way around this, i.e. some kind of customization that I can implement to get the filter working?
    Thnks

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • Any recent articles about ADF Faces Next ?

    I didn't find any current links about this new version of ADF Faces which will be like Google Web Toolkit.
    Did anybody some new things about it?
    I found only one good link about this new stuff, but it is from year 2005:
    http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2005/07/20/jsf-ajax-adffacesnext

    Hi,
    we will provide articles as we get closer to the production or any pre-release state. Once we have the components out we will provide in depth examples and discussions.

  • Oracle ADF Faces Components, Early Access Release 8 is now available

    Oracle ADF Faces is a rich set of user interface components based on the new JavaServer Faces JSR (JSR-127). Oracle has been actively involved in this JSR since its beginning. The Oracle ADF Faces Components provide various user-interface components with built-in functionality - such as data tables, hierarchical tables, and color and date pickers - that can be customized and re-used in your application.
    ADF Faces also includes many of the framework features most needed by JSF developers today:
    * File upload support is integrated at a component level.
    * Client-side validation is automatically derived from Validators and Converters for an improved user experience.
    * A pageFlow scope makes it easier to pass values from one page to another.
    * A new hybrid state saving strategy gives developers the best of both client and server-side state saving.
    ADF Faces ensures a consistent look and feel for your application, allowing you to focus more on user interface interaction rather than look and feel compliance. The components support multi-language and translation implementation as well as accessibility features. ADF Faces Components use Partial Page Rendering (PPR) offering superior runtime interactivity. PPR allow the browser to just render a piece of a page instead of the entire page.
    The intention with this early access release is to give developers/architects an opportunity to evaluate JSF and Oracle's JSF component offering.
    Oracle ADF Faces Components can be used in any IDE that support JSF, including Oracle JDeveloper 10g.

    It works if I include the following:

    Thanks.

  • When is Infinity going to be available in Beighton...

    They have been digging up the pavements for weeks in Beighton and the new Big Cabinets are springing up everywhere.
    When oh When is Infinity going to be aavailable....still stuck on 2.5MB - I dream of so much more...please help....someone....
    Is the BT Infinity Fairy ready to wave her magic wand and connect me....rather than saying BT have no plans to roll out Infinity in your area for at least 6 month...please grant my wish...

    Assuming you are connected to Mossborough exchange (SLMOS) then the cabinets will be commissioned as they become available as the exchange is already live in some areas. BT Wholesale seem to have taken a lot of dates off their line checker as they got lots of people complaining when they put dates back. The roll out is taking longer than they orginally estimated which is the way with major infrastructure projects.
    The cabinets being physically placed is one step and they need fibre and power connected, connection to the PSP, testing and commissioning which takes a significant number of weeks. Only then will the line checker tell if you can order - be warned not all lines can get Infinity. Patience will be required and regular checking of the wholesale line checker.

  • When is Gumbo going to be available for Beta?

    I have been monitoring this site for the last 5 months waiting patiently for Gumbo to try it out.  I now have the Adobe CS4 package and would like to try doing some of the things that Lee Brimelow has been showing in his tutorials with Flex and Flash.  Is Gumbo going to be available for beta or are you just going to by pass that stage and only offer it for sale?  I am sure that I am not alone in the fact patience starting to dwindle.

    You can download betas for Flash Builder 4 (formerly Flex Builder) and Flash Catalyst (formerly Thermo) from http://labs.adobe.com/.
    Nightly/Milestone Flex 4 SDK builds can downloaded from http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.

  • ADF FACES: error when deployed on Tomcat 5.0.28

    I just deployed my web app (from EA14) onto Tomcat 5.0.28. After some tweaks on the deployment profile, it works except for one error that I never see when it runs under the embedded OC4J app server. I now get this error on some of my pages:
    Apr 2, 2005 3:45:34 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.io.DebugHtmlResponseWriter
    _errorWithComment
    WARNING: Illegal HTML: cannot put a <img> element in a <table> element.
    Has anyone else seen this error? Any ideas what causes it and why it doesn't show up under OC4J?
    Thanks.

    There've been issues when running in the embedded OC4J server where logged messages don't appear at all - I suspect this is happening on both environments, but you're only seeing the message on Tomcat.
    If you look in the HTML, you'll see a <!-- ILLEGAL HTML: --> comment where the problem occurs, and you should be able to trace that content back to the components you're using at that spot. Could you let us know what combination of components produces this error? (The problem is exactly what the error message says: HTML does not allow <img> directly inside of <table>, but that's what got produced.)

  • When is Flex3 going to be available for Purchase.

    I'm using the FB3 right now and I have the FB2 that I got in
    2006 (I don't use it anymore)....but I keep hearing about FB3, but
    I never see any mention of a possible release date. I want to just
    get on with it. I have charting as well and I want to the whole
    thing to just be done with so I can forget about it.

    I personaly think it will be released along with 360 Flex in
    Atlanta so that puts it in 11 days. from a blog I read - "A little
    birdy was Flexing his wings outside my window, preparing to leap
    into the Air. Before he took off though, he chirped, "Adobe's
    planning a huge announcement at 360|Flex Atlanta. Pass it on."

  • Compare between component id in adf faces and component id in html.

    Hi all,
    [Oracle ADF Faces 11g]
    When I design layout and set ID for ADF Component such as:
    <af:inputText id="*itCalendar*" />
    After I run and view HTML source, I saw:
    <INPUT class=x25 id=*j_id_id7:itCalendar* name=*j_id_id7:itCalendar*/>
    My question:
    1. Why ID changed after I run ?
    2. How to away: ID don't change ?
    3. Why all atributes of Javascript attributes in adf faces 11 don't show? such as:
    onchange
    onclick
    ...etc.,
    Can you help me, please?
    thanks all.

    User,
    1). The ID changes because your af:inputText is inside another component that is a naming container. the *j_id_id7 is the (apparently auto-generated) ID used by the naming container.
    2). Don't put your component inside of a naming container (tongue-in-cheek, as that's usually not very possible). The best thing is to put ID's on all of your components, then you can know what the final ID in the HTML will be

  • New window detection in ADF Faces - what version?

    Hi,
    In what ADF version was the new window detection feature introduced to ADF Faces? I've been going through the release notes for 11.1.1.x releases but can't find an answer. Also, the documentation for web.xml configuration options doesn't seem to list this option for either 11.1.1.x or 11.1.2.x releases. E.g. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/web.1112/e16181/ap_config.htm#CEGCIDAB makes no mention of it. Where is it documented?
    Regards,
    Joonas

    hmm, you are right.
    Try referring to {message:id=10189529} and http://www.oracleimg.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/relnotes-14-jan-11-261400.html#faces7
    One is Frank musing that he thinks it came in 11.1.1.4 and the other is a known issue with it in 11.1.1.4
    DOH! you already gave me the first link...
    http://adfbugs.blogspot.com/2009/11/returnlistener-from-dialog-page-not.html is a link from 2009 referring to it, which is in the 11.1.1.2 era.

  • ADF Faces and BI Graph?

    Is it possible to use BI Graph with ADF Faces?
    So far I was using BC4J/JSP/Struts and to put Graph (<graph:Graph/>) into JSP page was easy - using Data Control Palette. Now I want to migrate to JSF (ADF Faces) but when I create JSF JSP - it is impossible to insert some ViewObject as Graph from Data Control Palette.
    Thanks for any clue.
    brano

    My current solution is:
    The ADF Faces main page:
    <af:showOneTab position="above">
    <af:showDetailItem text="Graph Include" disclosed="true">
    <f:verbatim>
    <jsp:include page="${pageContext.request.contextPath}/graphs/Graph.jspx"
    </f:verbatim>
    </af:showDetailItem>
    The Graph page:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:graph="/webapp/graph.tld"
    xmlns:adf="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/ui/jsp/adftags">
    <jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="true"
    doctype-root-element="HTML"
    doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"
    doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"/>
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>
    <html>
    <adf:pagedefinition/>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
    content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
    <title>Graph</title>
    </head>
    <body><graph:Graph data="${bindings.EmployeesView1}"
    imageHeight="240" imageWidth="320"/>
    </body>
    </html>
    </jsp:root>
    When I try to run this, I get the following error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: data attribute evaluates to null
         at oracle.jbo.html.jsp.graph.GraphTag.doStartTag(GraphTag.java:212)
         at graphs.Graph_jspx._jspService(_Graph_jspx.java:67)
         [graphs/Graph.jspx]
    Could you please post the solution?

  • Strange ADF components behavior when deploy to weblogic 12C

    Hi,
    I'm developing a EJB/JavaEE through Jdeveloper with ADF faces. When I deploy the application to Embedded Weblogic 12C everything seems to be ok.
    However, when I deploy on a Production Environment(weblogic server 12c, jdk 1.7u45 and ADF runtime 12c[JRF already installed] running on Oracle Linux 6) some components do not work properly after a PPR(af:button, af:selectOneChoice, etc).
    My development config is Jdeveloper 12C, running application with embedded Weblogic 12C, jdk1.7.0u45 running windows 8.
    It's hard to find out what is wrong because there's no meaningful messages in Logs. All I find in log after components stop to work is:

    Hi,
    I debug the application, I found my @ViewScoped ManagedBeans, they're recreated after you click a button or select a item in combobox
    Here is a piece of code:
        @PostConstruct
        public void resolveEntity() {
            Object sEntity = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().get("entity");
            entity = (BctTbOportunidade) sEntity;
             FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().remove("entity");
            if (entity == null) {
                entity = new BctTbOportunidade();
    I use @postConstruct to get a entity from another page in sessionMap(I set a item from a table and use this method to modify a entity in a other page).
    When I click a button or select a item in combobox in same page @PostConstruct method is called but values are lost. No Exceptions are thrown by server.
    I found a artice written by BalluC that some versions of jsf 2.1 has this behavior The BalusC Code: The benefits and pitfalls of @ViewScoped
    I already configured my web.xml to set false javax.faces.PARTIAL_STATE_SAVING
    But this behavior continues.
    The jsf version deployed in my weblogic 12c is 2.1.7.

    Hello , I really want to buy the new MacBook Air , but it seems like it is not coming in Romania . When is it going to be available in Romania too?

    Check for its availability in your Apple Online Store. None of your fellow Apple users have any more knowledge about that subject than that.
