ADF Faces - Panel Accordion rendering issue

Hi, I am trying to follow this tutorial about adf faces:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_55/jdtut_11r2_55_2.html
but when I click on the detail items in the accordion component, the objects inside desappears and I could see a strange rendering behavior with the rest of the objects.
No errors are shown in the console. I tested it in chrome, ie8 and firefox with the same result.
Software used: jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, weblogic 11gR1 on win7.
Any ideas?

You are aware that the sample is for jdev 11.1.2.x, so this may well be the reason why you see this behavior.

  • ADF Faces : partial page rendering in f:subview

    hi
    Please consider this blog post, "ADF Faces: How-to issue a PPR event from a f:subview and how-to PPR of subviews" :
    http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-how-to-issue-a-ppr-event-from-a-fsubview-and-how-to-ppr-of-subviews/
    In this post, Frank Nimphius writes : "... PPR from a containing page to the subview - unfortunately - only works for the whole subview, which means that the included page is getting refreshed. Because the f:subview component does not support PR, you need to work with a wrapping ADF Faces container, like af:panelGroup ...".
    But, it looks like such partial page rendering in a subview can be done without a specific "wrapping ADF Faces container" like this ...
            <h:form id="firstPPRPageFormID">
              <af:panelPage title="firstPPRPage">
                <af:panelHeader text="components on firstPPRPage">
                  <af:panelForm>
                    <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString, with partial trigger">
                      <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"
                                     partialTriggers="firstSubviewID:firstSubviewCButton"/>
                    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
                    <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString">
                      <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"/>
                    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
                    <f:facet name="footer">
                      <af:commandButton text="firstPPRPage button"
                                        id="firstPPRPageCButton"
                                        partialSubmit="true"/>
                    </f:facet>
                  </af:panelForm>
                </af:panelHeader>
                <f:subview id="firstSubviewID">
                  <jsp:include page="/firstSubview.jspx" flush="true"/>
                </f:subview>
              </af:panelPage>
            </h:form>... and where firstSubview.jspx contains something like this ...
      <af:panelHeader text="components on firstSubview">
        <af:panelForm>
          <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString, with partial trigger">
            <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"
                           partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton"/>
          </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
          <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString">
            <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"/>
          </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
          <f:facet name="footer">
            <af:commandButton text="firstSubview button" id="firstSubviewCButton"
                              partialSubmit="true"/>
          </f:facet>
        </af:panelForm>
      </af:panelHeader>Note the value ":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton" for the partialTriggers attribute.

    questions:
    (1) Why exactly does this approach seem to work?
    (2) Because of question (1), what could be potential issues with this approach?
    regards
    Jan Vervecken

    Jan,
    good job ! I actually never thought of reversing what I said about PPR'ing a component from a subview.
    Actually
    partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton"/>
    works because the leading ":" makes ADF Faces to start the component search from the root container. Note that if you use af:form instead of h:form, the trigger is
    partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageCButton"/>
    I'll update my blog

  • ADF Faces afh:rowLayout rendered

    This is interesting. I tested this with EA16 and it worked. I have a afh:rowLayout i would like to hide and show based on role membership. I check the role membership in hte backing bean and bind it with the rendered property.
    The problem is, can someone else please test this, the rendered attributed does not seem to bind anymore. I can set a breakpoint in the code and it never gets caught..
    Any help appreciated.
    Nick

    It was a typo in the binding syntax.
    I knew it had to be something similar to that, i just needed a second set of eyes.

  • JBO-35007 in Portletized ADF Faces Page and alternative scenarios

    Hi all,
    I've started a new thread to address one of the problems referred to here Issues with Faces -> Portlet Bridge and ADF Faces
    In short, the issue arises when portletizing an existing ADF Faces page that uses an ADF BC bound af:Table on the page. I've got a very simple ADF Faces page that has an af:Table on it bound to the employees table in the Oracle HR schema. The af:Table allows sorting and has an af:selectTableOne in it's selection facet which contains an af:commandButton. The app works fine when run as a JSF page.
    However, when I use the JSF-Portlet bridge to publish the page as a portlet (following all of the steps in the Web Center Developer's guide, including changing the state_saving_method to "server"), and placing the portlet on a ADF Faces page in a different project, I can consistently create JBO-35007 errors by:
    * Sorting the data in the portlet by clicking the column header
    * Selecting a different row and pressing the af:commandButton
    Clearly, the current row of the iterator is not being saved properly. I can (of course) "fix" this behavior by setting EnableTokenValidation to "false" in the page definition of the ADF Faces page that has been portletized, but this has obvious side effects.
    Should this behavior work as I am trying to implement it? Perhaps it doesn't make sense to "select" an item in a portlet like this (what am I going to do, as the parent application doesn't have access to the selected row information).
    I can, however, think of a good use case:
    User is using a web-store type application to browse items and add them to his shopping cart. Off to the side, we've got a portlet that shows recently purchased items for the user. User clicks item in that portlet (or selects and hits submit - as in my non-working example, above) and then the main web store application navigates to that item in the "main" section. How could I implement something like this? Any navigation case in the portlet is not exposed to the main application. Perhaps there is a different model by which to do this.... I cannot use a PDK event-type approach (this limits my use of Faces to create portlets), so I'm in a bind.
    Thoughts and discussion much appreciated,
    John

    Peter,
    This should be so simple to re-create; here's my project: http://download.yousendit.com/F017E4D457FFA7F3
    It uses the HR sample schema from a stock 10gr2 database. Be sure to set up the ADF BC connection in the model project, build and deploy the portlets, then try running TestPage.jspx in the UserInterface project. You can play around with the pagedef in the Portlet project to see the JBO-35007 error - right now, EnableTokenValidation is set to false - you can change it to true to see the error.

  • Creating Tabs in ADF faces

    Hi,
    We want to use ADF faces, jsp with Jdeveloper 10.1.3
    The front end application needs to have tabs. Is there any example or documentation that can help us achieve that.
    Thanks

    Check out the SRDemo application for and the ADF Developer Guide.
    Specifically you might be interested to learn more about the ADF Faces panel page component:

  • ADF Faces - partial submit across subforms

    Should it be possible to make a button a partialTrigger for a table in a different subform?
    I have a textfield and commandButton in one subform, and an af:table in another subform.
    Thanks
    Martin

    Actually I once read a Frank Nimphius entry about how to make this work, but the solution was somewhat unexpected. I think it had something to do with putting ":fieldid" in the partial triggers property value, rather than "subformid:fieldid". this was regarding 10.1.3 functionality though.
    Check out Re: ADF Faces : partial page rendering in f:subview for commentary on this subject, if I am understanding the problem.
    Also it is the first+_ entry in the word document downloadable here:  http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/OldAndLostBlogBusterTips.zip

  • ADF Faces and Struts confusion

    Hello alltogether,
    I'm developing with struts for some years now but I'm completely new to ADF and Faces.
    I want to integrate a "simple" ADF Faces page with one TreeTable to an existent struts application.
    The idea I had is to create an action within the struts-config.xml inheriting from the DataAction or DataForwardAction in order to load and prepare the data for the TreeTableModel.
    When I call the ADF Faces page using the .do call for the Action created (I have to prepend /faces/ to the normal Action call) the page is rendered correctly but I do not enter my derived Action class at all.
    So my question is: How is the preferred way to fill the Model of the TreeTable before the ADF Faces page is rendered. The necessary datasource is obtained from a struts basic action throughout the whole application.
    I'm now struggeling with the pageDef.xml (using the documentation from here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev/b25947_01/index.html) but I'm really lost since I do not understand what happens when and how resp. why it happens.
    All I want is the following: Prepare and load the necessary TreeModel before the page gets rendered (the appropriate model depends on a parameter which is given in the request that is send and which successfully response should be the ADF Faces page with the TreeTable filled with the appropriate data)!
    Can please somebody give me the necessary piece of advice?
    I'm trying for almost a day now!
    Many thanks in advance
    Best Regards

    Dear Mr. Vohra, It is not yet Clear whether we can use ADF Faces with Tiles,
    With out using Facelets, of MyFaces?
    Some users say they are using these two frameworks, but still complain of problems.
    And you are suggesting to use facelets with ADF faces .
    Can't we use ADF Faces and Tiles with out any other intermediate technology?
    Thanking you,
    Samba.

  • Panel Page in ADF Faces using Facelets not rendering correctly

    Hi, I am attempting to integrate facelets into a web app built using adf faces and am running into a problem with the panel page component. I have integrated facelets and adf faces without any problems by adding relevant jars (jsf-facelets and adf-facelets) to the project and specifying alternate facelets view handler in web.xml.
    However, when I try to render any component inside <af:document> or <af:html> tags, all the font style in components seems to be lost ( all the text and input fields turn large and ugly!).
    I tried to leave out the <af:document> tag and put the <f:view> inside some vanilla html instead, but then panelPage component dosen't render properly and I get following message on top of page :
    "Skip navigation elements to page contents"
    So seem to be in a bit of a catch 22. By the way, this all works fine if I don't use facelets (remove the facelets view handler from web.xml and page renders correctly).
    Does anyone have any ideas or examples of panelPage rendering correctly with facelets or an alternative to using adf faces html tags that will allow panelpage to be displayed?
    The following is the code from a simple test jspx page :
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces"
    xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"
    xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
    <f:view>
    <af:document>
    <af:form>
    <af:panelPage title="Title 1">
    <af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:panelGroup layout="vertical">
    <af:outputLabel value="Username"/>
    <af:inputText id="lo_username" value="" columns="20"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="10"/>
    <af:outputLabel value="Password"/>
    <af:inputText id="lo_password" secret="true" value="" columns="20"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="15" />
    <af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:objectSpacer width="50" height="1"/>
    <af:commandButton id="lo_loginButton" text="Login"/>
    </af:panelHorizontal>
    </af:panelGroup>
    <af:objectSpacer width="50" height="1"/>
    <af:panelGroup layout="vertical">
    <af:outputLabel value="Please use your windows account username"/>
    <af:outputLabel value="and password to logon to the system"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="50"/>
    </af:panelGroup>
    </af:panelHorizontal>
    </af:panelPage>
    </af:form>
    </af:document>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>

    The problem was the <jsp:root> tag. Removed this tag and modified <af:document> to the following so that namespaces are declared :
    <af:document xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces"
    xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
    xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
    Page now renders properly using facelets.

  • ADF Faces: Changing "rendered" property in PPR: JDev 10.1.3

    Hello all,
    I have an ADF Faces page that has an af:CommandButton on it. The rendered property of the button is set to an EL expression that references the model (ADF BC). When the page is submitted (via an af:CommandButton with PartialPage=true), the rest of the page refreshes properly to reflect the changed model state, but the command button with the conditional rendered property is not disappearing as expected (the button is initially rendered=true). I remember reading recently about a similar issue if the button is initially not visible, and I'm not sure if this is related.
    Interestingly, if I click on the button (which should no longer be visible after the PPR event), it does nothing - so it appears to be merely a visual problem. I have also tried setting the disabled property to an EL expression that is the opposite of the rendered property, and the button does not change to be disabled, either.
    Any thoughts? At this point, it looks like a bug/feature.
    Kind regards,
    John
    Should I be able to do this?

    John,
    if you wrap the button in a panel (e.g. buttonpanel) and set the PPR to this panel, does it work ?

  • MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering

    I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
    By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
    After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
    Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

  • ADF Faces + accordion component

    Hi all,
    Has anyone out there used any 3rd party "accordion" component with ADF Faces? Examples of one's that I've found but not tried:
    Google Web Toolkit (GWT) StackPanel widget - might be hard to integrate with JSF
    MyFaces accordionPanel - pretty nice, but it's still in the "sandbox" project
    IceFaces has an in-development accordion - IceFaces doesn't play nice with ADF Faces components on the same page due to a special renderer
    Spry Accordion from Adobe - similar comments to GWT.
    Some examples of what I mean:
    The Mail/Tasks/Contacts item here: http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/documentation/examples/desktopclone/demo.html
    http://archive.dojotoolkit.org/nightly/tests/widget/test_AccordionContainer.html
    http://www.irian.at/myfaces-sandbox/accordionPanel.jsf
    The closest thing in ADF Faces is the af:showOnePanel, which is pretty close, but not exactly what I'm looking for. Perhaps with some skinning, I could get it to look different (no +/- in the little triangle, etc). An update... thanks to BUG 5682799, we are not able to get rid of the little hide/disclose (+/-) widget - the skin selector for that item is ignored.
    Thanks for any insight.
    John

    Hi John,
    Bug 5682799 has been fixed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
    If you need a one-off patch for a prior release of JDev, please contact Support.

    Didier.

  • ADF Faces Query Panel: How to display master data in detail table?

    Before stating the question, here is the background:
    I've a Fusion ADF (model/viewController) app that includes 2 tables with a master-detail relationship. The master table stores error numbers and associated levels of logging severity; the detail table stores the actual message text. These need to be separate, related tables because the requirement is that message text for a given error number can vary by product release.
    Messages are added in a bounded task flow; data for the master table entered in 1 fragment, data for the detail table in a 2nd page fragment. In the app, the Entity Objects for these tables are related with a foreign key association and have a composition association. This was done because the error numbers are generated in an Oracle DB sequence, and from what i have read that is a way in a task flow to have ADF put the number generated for the master table into the related key of the child table.
    The question is this:
    I need to create an ADF query panel with a table that searches on the detail DB table. However, i also need to use a couple of fields from the master DB table in both the query and in the ADF table. In addition, I need to add the ability for the user to edit either the master or detail record for the row he/she selects in the ADF table. I know how to create a view that would display the info i need; however, i have not been able to figure out how to obtain the keys for the selected ADF table row and pass them to the task flows that would edit.
    The master table has a numeric primary key. The detail table primary key consists of a foreign key to the master key and also a release number.
    I'm new to ADF and have been struggling with how to do this: i've a workaround that is functional but too klunky to be a permanent solution. So, could someone point me to some information on how to accomplish this?
    Versions: JDeveloper 11.1.1.4, ADF Business Components 11.1.1.59.23
    Thanks for your help!

    Thanks. I tried this out, but ran into an issue in that the detail table has 2 keys - a foreign key to the master primary key, and a 2nd key that uniquely distinguishes the detail. So i tried various things centered around using the SetCurrentRowWithKey operation and trying to obtain the selected ADF table row using an EL OF #{data.<pageDef>.<Iterator>.currentRowKeyString}; however i could not get the detail record for the selected row to display.
    I did find another approach that worked - I am wondering, is there anything problematic with this approach?:
    1. Create a VO joining the Master and Detail tables, with the Detail table being updatable.
    2. Made sure the applicable attributes were defined as keys.
    3. Add a query panel w/table using this VO.
    4. Create an ADF form based on the VO, showing the updatable fields.
    5. Create a bounded task flow with the following set on the Behavior tab:
    a. Share data controls with calling task flow
    b. Always Begin Transaction
    I specifically am wondering whether "Share data controls with calling task flow" has any negative implications or gotchas to handle. The doc at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_parameters.htm#ADFFD1693 doesn't suggest so, but just wanted to double-check before I go down this path.

  • ADF Faces - issue with Portal and af table

    I wonder if anybody could help me with a problem we are experiencing with running our ADF Faces app inside a portal (NOT Oracle Portal). We are using the af table tag with the rows attribute set as follows:
    <af:table emptyText="No items found"
    rows="10" banding="row"
    bandingInterval="1"
    binding="#{backing_ModuleSearchReg.table1}"
    id="table1"
    var="row">
    What this does is if we have more than 10 rows to display it will display
    a table header that has a label 'Previous 1-10 of nnn' Next 10. However, when you click on 'Next 10' it produces a Javascript error.
    When we run the app outside of the portal we do not get this problem.
    I believe this is related to known issues with JSF and Javascript inside a 'framed' web page. But if anybody help me with this or point me to a resource that can help it would be very much appreciated.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Chris

    Hi,
    I remember a similar issue with inner frames that should be fixed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. The problem was that the ADF Faces JavaScript did not get the correct document root.

    Dear All,
    I am fairly new to ADF development too. While following the Tutorial, I selected the "simple" page template. and check the "Create as XML Document (*.jspx). then click "OK", I got a similar SAXParseException exception, however the main.jspx seemed showed up correctly in the "Design" window. Any idea? Thanks a lot.
