ADF Mobile HR Sample

Hi all im new of this... I've been working on the adfmobile sample HR which creates a sqlite DB but I´m not able to connect with the HR data base
i try to connect with a main class because when i deploying the emulator don't show me anything .. so when i run the main class show me this error
[http://imageshack.us/f/11/444444yl.jpg/] .. somebody can tell me how connect the ADFmobile Sample Hr with the Local DataBase HR. i Dont want the app work with the hr.sql script. i want work with a localdatabase. THANKS A LOT

Hi,
before you start with what you don't want, just get the sample deployed and working. The local script populates the SQLite database schema, which is required to save data. Hi note that you don't +"run the main class"+ as the SQLite database is populated from a Lifecycle listener

  • Deploying ADF Mobile Browser Sample App in JDeveloper 11.1.2.3

    Hi,
I had problem in deploying the sample app for ADF Mobile Browser in JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.
I had tried every solution such as replacing web.xml for the Sample App with web.xml created in JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.
I could not find the Jar file for the oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.bi.facelets.graph.RichSeriesSetHandler in the web also.
Please help to solve this problem as I had tried for many days.
    Thank you very much! =)

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the fast response.
Based on your advice, I had try to comment out all usage of graph in jsp, web.xml, and data binding file.
But even after perform these, I still facing the same problem.
For your information, RichSeriesSetHandler does not exist in the oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.bi.facelets.
I suspecting RichSeriesSetHandler is configured in the app and it occur this error as it could not find the class.
I had try to search this usage of this class in the app but there is no results found.

Hi Sashank, Thank for your reply and advice.
This is a mobile ADF browser which it is deployed in EAR in Weblogic.
ADF Mobile browser is different with ADF Mobile as one is access through mobile browser and one is access as mobile app.
Please correct me if I'm wrong in this.
    Thanks

  • SQLite ADF Mobile HR Sample?

Hello! well I am trying to run the ADF Mobile App for the HR schema (found in here: jdev_install/jdeveloper/jdev/extensions/oracle.adf.mobile/Samples) but I dont know how to create the database the sqlite one, If I am not mistaken a mobile App doesn't connect straight to an oracle database right? It does it through sqlite,
Can you explain me a liitle more of that
and how to create it and use the sample? THANKS A LOT!!

SQLite is used to create a local database, so it has no remote connection to anything.
If you check the LifeCycleListenerImpl class (located by default in the ApplicationController project) you can see the initDB() method begin called when the application start (in the start method).
The initDB() method check if the .db (the sqlite db) is present. If there isn't a .db file, it will be created by using the .sql script which is located in Application Resources > Descriptors > ADF META INF > hr.sql
The DBConnectionFactory class will manage the connection to the sqlite database.

  • ADF Mobile : sample no Vegas

    hi
Please consider this tweet by Duncan Mills
    " @fnimphiu so it's like Vegas - "what happens in a region - stays in a region" "
    at https://twitter.com/DuncanMills/status/255318833412308992
I wonder how much this translates to bounded task-flows and using managed-beans in a bounded task-flow that are defined in a wider scope outside the bounded task-flow.
In the ADF Mobile CompGallery sample application [1] the bounded task-flow "general-taskflow" has a view configured for the page "commandButton.amx".
That "commandButton.amx" page has this button component:
    <amx:commandButton id="back" action="__back" text="General">
         <amx:setPropertyListener to="#{AmxProperties.commandButtonProperties.text}" from="#{pageFlowScope.pText}" type="action"/>
         <amx:setPropertyListener to="#{AmxProperties.commandButtonProperties.rendered}" from="#{pageFlowScope.pRendered}" type="action"/>

    Hi,
First let's forget region for a sec (or a while), since ADF Mobil has no region support. :-)
Now, ADF Mobile primarily supports 3 types of scopes for managed bean: application, pageFlow, and view. The definition and scope for these scope variables are basically the same as the "big" ADF cousin, except "application" takes on a little more significance. In ADF Mobile applications, we introduced a concept called "features", where each feature can be implemented either in AMX, local HTML, or Remote HTML. To pass state between features, you would need to use application scope variables. This is how, for example, you can pass data from a Remote HTML feature into an app scope variable, and then have the AMX feature to consume it.
Otherwise, the best practice is the same - application is to share data across the entire mobile app/between features, pageFlow is for a task flow, and view is for a view.
In this case below, the intent for the property related managed beans is simply to retain property values as user select between different components (and corresponding task flows) to view how component behaves. The managed beans for DVT component data are set to be application scope, also to allow multiple DVT components and corresponding task flows to share the same data.

  • ADF Mobile sample - palm simulator and jar problem

    Hello.
I got a few problems with ADF mobile tutorial. (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/wireless/mobile2.html)
    1.     Palm Simulator has no web browser.
As per description under ‘Prerequisites’ I downloaded the newest Palm Simulator (and some older version too). My Palm Simulator has no web browser. I found nothing how to add or enable web browser. In tutorial screenshots the Palm Simulator has always a browser.
Where can I get a Palm Simulator with web browser or where can I get a free PPC Simulator for testing my application?
    2.     Incompatible jar-files.
I’m using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4.3673. I think this is the newest version. Mobile.zip contains adf-faces-impl.jar and jsf-impl.jar. Both files have version 10.1.3.0.5. JDeveloper contains this files too. But version is 10.1.3.0.4! On starting oc4j I got an error with information about this version conflict.
What is wrong on my environment? Did I miss important files? I found no newer ADF files at oracle web site. My solution is to replace the files in Mobile.zip with the older files from JDeveloper.
    With best regards
    C. Schmülling

    Hello Christian,
The Palm simulator doesn't include a Web browser by default, You have to install it> Here is the URL where you can download the software: http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/webbrowser/
Concerning the jar-files it shouldn't be a problem. Just use the jar versions delivered with the Mobile.zip and it should run.

  • ADF Mobile Error handling and redirect

I'm stuck on how to handle errors within my ADF Mobile application. My application consumes a number of web services and we have found we often get error messages when phone connections switch from wifi to 3g or lose connection altogether. These are errors such as SSL handshake failure, HTTP500 errors, and also errors where it can't display the binding eh "Unable to get value for the property due to invalid binding iterator" because a WS call has failed. From the little information I can find - and none of it specific to ADF Mobile, I think I need to write an error handler class which I set against ErrorHandlerClass in databinding.cpx - if that correct? Am I able to catch these errors using that method and if so has anyone got any examples at all. Ideally what I'd like to do when I've caught those errors is redirect to another page (showing something like facebooks app does when it loses a connection and says tap to try again), does anyone have any suggestions or examples?
    thanks

  • PropertyChangeSupport in ADF Mobile

I'm working with ADF Mobile - altogether easier and more powerful than I thought - much faster development than with the Android SDK, and multiple device support thown in.
I'm seeing in the bean samples that PropertyChangeSupport is used for every bean variable on setting (via the firePropertyChange method, but also with the fireProviderRefresh and fireProviderCreate methods).
The ADF API has scant documentation:
"This is a utility class that can be used by beans that support bound properties. You can use an instance of this class as a member field of your bean and delegate various work to it."
Is this a new way to work with bean values? It appears to be mobile only (in the adfmf package), so it is a different way to handle this?
When do I use this? Which methods do I call?
    Is there more documentation?
    Thanks,
    Ed.

    Hi,
this is normal JavaBean development in which properties notify listeners about change (thus bound properties). In the ADF Mobile case the framework listens and you can use this to refresh a component. See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/m02-dynamicallyshowhidecomponents-1915399.pdf where I used this to dynamically show/hide components. So to answer your question: yes its spcific to ADF mobile and not required in Web ADF. But then its not specific because you would use the same in Java desktop UI development too.

  • ADF Mobile - Phone Performance Issues

    Hello,
I've been using ADF Mobile for a while now. All's going well - I'm able to access web-based data services etc and everything seems to work. I do have a couple of couple of questions regarding performance on the phone though and I was wondering if anyone could offer some help/advice etc.
I've followed all the steps here: https://blogs.oracle.com/mobile/entry/configuration_tips_for_better_performance
...but with no visibile improvements. My issues are:
<1> Once the app is deployed, starting it for the first time takes around 2 minutes. All subsequent start-ups of the app after this take a couple of seconds, even after a shutdown of the phone. I'm not sure how to determine what exactly is happening during this phase, and why this takes so long just the first time? The duration for this also seems to have increased as I've added pages to my app, and as it only has 4 at the moment I'm concerned that adding much more to it will make the problem worse.
<2> I use "listItems" on most pages in a "panelGroupLayout", and the scrolling performance is very poor. All other apps I have on my phone scroll very smoothly. With my ADF app, you drag your finger to scroll up or down and there's a noticeable delay before all the rows move in one go with no visible scrolling actually taking place. This happens even when all the rows to be displayed are loaded on to the page and there's no more calling of the web service necessary. I've deployed the sample "DeviceDemo" to my phone and the "Properties" page has the same problem. The scrolling is very poor.
I've done a fair bit of Googling on this without much success, Any help or suggested reading on any of this would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers, Rich.

    Joe Huang wrote:
    Hi
First you would need to deploy the application in "Release Mode". This requires you to create a Java Keystore and a certificate using the Java keytool, and then you would use it to compile the app. If you have done that, then can you please help explain what these pages are doing, and observed performance?
Unfortunately Galaxy Tab 2 is a bit old - if you have done everything to optimize the app, this could be due to older Android OS. Android OS (especially version 2.x) does not support HTML5/JS well, and performance is much worse than HTML5/JS running on Android 4.x devices. This is more than just HW differences - this is primarily due to the web engine used by the webview.
This is also somewhat a general issue with Android - Chrome is a much faster browser on Android, but unfortunately the webview (which ADF Mobile leverages) is not yet based on Chrome. If and when they switch to Chrome, the JavaScript/HTML5 support would start to rival that of the iOS.

    Hi
i am an android app developer and new to ADF Mobile , so there are some doubts on Navigation through pages and mapping the new AMX page to features.
    Steps i have followed
    1. i have created an  project using Mobile Application (ADF)
    2. right clicking on ViewController , i have added  AMX page and added some componets
Now i just want to show this page while executing this application in mobile. i have added this page path in to feature also but i am getting a blank screen.
please give me solution or give me a good example or any link which will help out.
i have added a button in the first screen and i want to go to next screen if the user press it. i know that task flow will help to achieve this but how i will add this with page. i am bit confused on those topics.

  • How to implememnt sync capabulity in Oracle ADF mobile Application?

    Hi All,
I am trying to implement once ADF mobile application which will capable of bout offline and online  synchronization.
right now I am crated direct online accessible application and offline accessible application.
my use-case is something like:when I login into application I need to full data from webservices and inserted into local DB. so that if network is not available I can work on local DB.
later point once I have network I need to capable of update(Sync) to actual DB.
I have tried one sample download from net and trying to execute but its not able to full data.
can you please guide me any other configurations need to do for achieve this use-case. or end to end sample for the same.

I have also tried invoking this through a regular ADF application and that works fine with an int[]. It looks like something specific to the ADF Mobile SOAP layer.
Is this a bug or a restriction in the framework? Any workarounds that has worked for anyone?

No luck. A WS DC method call with a simple parameter (java.lang.String or java.lang.Integer) works fine but I can't get it to work when there is an array input.
I have tried WS methods with int arrays and simple string arrays without any luck. All of them result in a cannot serialize error.
I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Are there any working WS Datacontrol samples with array inputs?

  • ADF mobile Data sync and sql lite usage

    Hi,
We are working on ADF mobile POC.(Jdev version 11.1.2.3.0)
Following Oracle mobile developer guide we generated "Webservice data control" which creates process(object) method to work with Webservice. We created the data-controls and used them in our Java code and are able to get the Webservice response also.
However we want to implement the offline mode feature and for this we are not able to get any document reference for implementation.
With offline mode support is it the application's responsibility to store the data locally using SQL Lite and do the data sync (using Web Service) OR will the framework would do the data sync automatically. Can someone please provide the implementation hint on how to do the Offline mode support in the mobile application using ADF.
    Thanks
    Pavan

    Hi,
With offline mode support is it the application's responsibility to store the data locally using SQL Lite and do the data sync (using Web Service) OR will the framework would do the data sync automatically.
This is all you. In this version of ADF Mobile there is no automatic data synchronization between local data and the server side. The sample that come with the ADF Mobile extension have a SQLLIte example as well, which is in the HR application. Look for the "DBConnectionFactory" file
