  • ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8

    hi
    Working with Oracle support (in SR 7732252.994) we first reached this conclusion ...
    "Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is not a supported for the ADF Faces applications built using JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0"
    When I subsequently asked ...
    "Will there be a JDeveloper 10g release (post 10.1.3.5.0) that will support IE8 ?"
    ... the answer was ...
    "Jdeveloper 10.1.3.5 is the last release in the Jdeveloper 10g branch and there will be no more releases after 10.1.3.5.
    Therefore, there will be no support for IE 8 in the Jdeveloper 10g branch."
    question
    (q1)What is supposed to happen to ADF 10g production applications deployed in an environment that allows little control over the browser that is used (extranet/internet)?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Shay.
    We plan to officially support IE8 with the next patch release to JDeveloper 11g - currently planned for later this year.That matches what I wrote in my initial post in this forum thread about IE8 support.
    We usually only certify browsers after they officially go production.That does not really answer my question (q1) in this forum thread.
    It is more like, how can I assess that Oracle will support any successor(s) of IE8 or successor(s) of any currently supported browsers for ADF 11g applications in the future? How long will Oracle support "commonly used browsers" for an ADF 11g application I build today, so how long will I be able to use that application?
    How do I answer such questions for ADF 11g applications that should be deployed on the internet (where, as some extranet environments, you typically have not that much (or no) control over which browsers your users use ... although some would like to argue with that, see forum thread "ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share")?
    (By the way, do you have any feedback for the forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8"?)

  • ADF BC Support  Distributed  Transactions?

    Hi ,
    As my subject! I have two DataBase in my Fusion Application , ADF BC Support Distributed Transactions? How TO do this ?
    Can you give me any advice ? thanks!!

    Hi,
    I see a bug filed to get documentation and clarification about this. I don't think ADF Business Components itself can do this using the JDBC URL connection. If then I imagine this to be doable using JDBC data sources. However, I am surely not the experts in this.

  • ADF 11g support for Internet Explorer 8 plus x

    hi
    Given the current situation for ADF 10g, see forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8" ...
    at ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8
    ... I was wondering about the future browser support in ADF 11g.
    (Specifically about IE8 the knownissues.html document for JDeveloper and ADF 11g (11.1.1.1.0) currently says "Internet Explorer 8 is neither supported nor certified. If you must use IE8, set the compatibility view settings in your IE8 browser to ALL. In IE8, go to the Tools menu -> Compatibility View Settings and check the last checkbox "Display All Websites In Compatibility View"." and "... IE8 support should be in the upcoming first patch set. ..." Re: PanelStretchLayout on IE8.)
    question
    (q1) What is the life expectancy of applications built with ADF (Faces) 11g in regard to their future browser support?
    many thanks

    (i tried to go to a friend's computer & we goofed & the sync only downloaded the songs that I purchased; (i know-duh) so I've lost over 800 tunes,,, (that are still in my library on my computer but I can't sync it because of the trouble i described above...)

  • System wont support safari software

    my safari died on me. crashed when opened. via internet exploer i downloaded safari yet when installing the new safari i was told that my system wont support this software? i have 17gb free space etc...WHY is it doing this??

    Hi,
    What have you done to fix Safari? More often than not it can be fixed without having to resort to a reinstallation (which may not help in the end).
    A few things you can do:
    1 - One quick test you can do to help narrow down things is to try Safari in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
    2 - Post the crash report text that you get when Safari quits. You can obtain the crash report text by clicking the (Report...) button in the Unexpectedly Quit window and then copying and pasting the text here.
    3 - If you've already deleted Safari, reapply the 10.4.7 PPC combo update over your current installation to get it reinstalled.

  • 11g TP3 / ADF BC / Support for database type in column

    Is it necessary to instantiate an object of corresponding type in the row implementation class to manage the corresponding type attributes like in 10g ?
    Example from 10g :
    protected void create(AttributeList attributeList)
    super.create(attributeList);
    ApplicationModule root = getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule();
    DBSequence seqid = new DBSequence("customers_seq",root);
    setCustomerId(seqid.getSequenceNumber());
    try
    CustAddressTyp custAddr = new CustAddressTyp();
    this.setCustAddress(custAddr);
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    }

    We currently don't offer support for Oracle ADF BC in Eclipse and while we might consider this for a future release this is not planned right now.

  • Does ADF security support sub-roles? If not are there plans to support it?

    hi,
    I have following scenario: there are dozens of regions and each region has dozen of facilities and each facility dozens of offices.
    I would like to setup Office roles to have Query permission only and create a new role OfficeUpdate role that has update permissions for this office data, and at the same time to inherit permissions from Office role (e.g. Query permissions), so if I assign a user to Office role he will be able to query only and if I assign him to OfficeUpdate role he will be able to query and update the office data because privilege will be inherited from Office role.
    User can be a member of different offices/facilities/regions. So I would like to, in order to simplify user management, to be able to assign a whole role as a member of another role. By doing this I wouldn't have to assign users to different roles all over again (all users assigned to a sub-role would automatically become members of main role as well) as this is time-consuming.
    But it seems that ADF security does not support this. It seems that ADF security can only deal with roles and not sub-roles? Roles and sub-roles are supported by oc4j container but it seems that ADF security does not support it.
    I would like first to be sure that my observation is correct, and if yes to find out if there are any plans to support sub-roles in future Jdev releases?
    And also if somebody knows, if Acegi or JsfAcegi security supports role-sub-role privilege inheritance?

    I created a testcase that excludes ADF Security and the same behavior can be reproduced, so the problem doesn't seem to be with ADF Security but JAZN.
    Need to further track this issue, but so far it appears that a member role is not sufficient to authenticate and authorize a container managed constraint as used by ADF Security for authentication. This could be a problem with the embedded OC4J only but also a general problem with settings on the system-jazn-data.xml. This is what I need to further evaluate.
    So for now I can't say that this isn't working in ADF Security because its not even getting there

  • Unicode support of OAS

    Hi,
    We are involved in the development of a multilingual web application. We are running some cartridges in the OAS. If its an unicode based solution and the cartridge running over the OAS is capable of understanding unicode, is it necessary that OAS should also be an unicode compliant one.. we use oracle 8 which supports unicode.. if OAS is to unicode compliant one then from which version does it supports..
    Thanks...

  • ADF BC support in Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11g/12c ?

    Hi All ,
    I was having a look at a few demos on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/eclipse/demos-082305.html wherein I could figure out that there is cool support for EJB/JPA , ADF Faces , ADF Bindings etc using OEPE 12c.
    Was wondering if there is support for ADF Business Components or is it planned for a later release ?
    Current Business Services Support : http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/technology/products/enterprise-pack-for-eclipse/bus-services/OEPE-BusinessServices.html

    We currently don't offer support for Oracle ADF BC in Eclipse and while we might consider this for a future release this is not planned right now.

  • ADF RC support for IE 8 & FF 3?

    Hi!
    I wonder if ADF RC will support new generation of popular browsers? While ADF RC is still in "tech preview" phase, it is aimed to current browsers (IE 7 & FF 2). But, it is expected that new browsers will "go live" during Q2 (MS announced IE 8 for summer, while FF is now in beta 5 phase pointing to conclusion that it will be ready to go in similar time-frame as IE 8).
    So, the question is: will ADF RC, in TP4 or R1, support the new browsers?
    PaKo

    Hello Pavle,
    I think you should calm down a little bit, take a deep breath and think rationally about what you're asking here. Let take care of all the points, one by one:
    Jan pointed out that even 10g is not certified for current browsers (more than 1.5 years from release and with market share of more than 40%), and you agree with him.
    You must put that in context also. ADF Faces 10g evolution is pretty much dead, beside some maintenance fixes. ADF Faces was given to Apache a while back as project Trinidad, actively maintained by Oracle, that supports Firefox 2 and IE 7 and did so for a while. Comparing ADF Faces 10g status with ADF Faces RC at this time is unfair. It's going to be more legitimate if and only if all the following hold true:
    1. FF3 and IE8 goes in production before the code grant to Apache RCF;
    2. At that time ADF Faces RC is not yet FF3 and IE8 certified;
    3. The code maintenance on ADF Faces RC stop or drastically slow down after the code grant.
    customers that we are working with during the beta is that none of them yet has the plan to standardize on IE8 or FF3
    Sorry to tell you, but that's pretty true (although quite irrelevant imho). standardize either if we go right down to the semantics here would meant that they would force the usage of either, hence why I find it irrelevant. On the other hand, if the meaning was that no customer actively plan to support IE8 and FF3, then I agree that something is wrong, especially for widely public applications.
    Second, as I pointed out, the ADF 11g rich-ajax-based components are unpleasantly slow on "current" browsers.
    Actually the performances are ok. Not great, I agree, but ok, unless you have Firebug running, then yes it get sluggish. However, to ADF Faces RC defense, even GMail dislikes Firebug now and warns you if you're using it.
    So, what you say sounds like logical contradiction to me: you are developing the platform for "new wave" apps while you refuse to make it compatible with new browsers that are just aimed for that "new wave"???
    As far as I know, Frank never said anything like that. What would you like, have Frank say something like "Yes, we certify that it's going to work! They're in beta, we have no clue when they're going to get in production, we have no clue what is going to change in their API by then, they might be more bugged than Netscape 1.0 alpha, but hey! It's going to work for sure! You can put Oracle's reputation on that!"... please... Oracle developers are still working on fixing issues, improving performances and functionalities for current browser and maybe add support for other current browser like maybe Safari or Opera which, although having small market shares, do have larger market shares than IE8 and FF3 for now. Once either of those browsers get RC maybe I'll give more credits to your complains, but for now I think you should be more aware of some market and management realities. Whining about hypothetical situation that might potentially arise in an uncertain future is not very constructive imho.
    Is there any way that we can, beside this forum, influence the Oracle strategy? I personally think that there are some issues on that side...
    Well, once JDeveloper 11g goes in production (or beta, dunno, I'm not an Oracle support expert), then there's always Metalink.
    My 2¢,
    ~ Simon

  • ADF Faces support

    Are there any JSF library available to handle intermedia content ?
    If no, is Oracle planning to deliver something for ADF Faces or Rich Faces ?

    There is only runtime support for intermedia content in ADF Faces.
    You can some examples on how to browse and upload ordimage columns using ADF Faces from

  • ADF Portlet Support

    I have couple of questions Oracle Portal (10.1.4) and ADF Portlet(using jdeveloper10.1.3)
    1) Whether ADF Portets can be deployed as JSR168 portlet? If yes, does it support inter portlet communication ?
    2) Whether ADF portlets can be deployed as PDK-Java portlets? If yes, does it support inter portlet communication?
    I hear and read lot of things about these kind of support. I am trying to get an official word on it.
    Thanks

  • ADF HumanTask Support

    Hi,
    I am new to ADF. I have composite application with BPEL contains human task.
    I know through BPM worklist (http://localhost:7001/integration/worklistapp) I can access the task details and perform actions.
    But as per my requirement, I SHOULD not use BPM worklist, instead I want to access Tasks information through my own ADF application which runs as separate application(with its own look and feel) in a client machine which will access the human task in another machine.
    Is there any default support available from ADF to run human tasks without BPM Worklist?
    Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks.
