Web server log files under LabVIEW RT
Hello,
Is there any log files for the web server under LabVIEW RT running on a PXI? The log file checkbox is disable in the target options.
Also, is there a way to find out if the web server is running on the target?
I'm asking the question because I can't access anymore a remote panel (and even the root of the web server) on my PXI. I reinstall everything and I still have the issue. I'm pretty sure that IT changes some network settings but they say no. I need to validate that everything is working on my side before before taking further action.
Thanks,
PatrickHi Patrick,
I would suggest having the log file checkbox enabled in the target options. That should show if errors are occurring while it is running. Are you running remote front panels and web services, or just remote front panels?
Can you provide a picture of all the software you have installed on your PXI? You should be able to find this in MAX under the PXI in Remote Systems.

Need Help - IIS Web Server Log Files
Hi - We run a java applet on our web site and it runs fine. The problem is that in our log files we get hammered with this 404 error all the time.
Can't find ConsultScrollBeanInfo.class
The software maker says it is a bug with Java 2 SDK.
If this is true, is there a fix so that IIS log files wont pick this up any more?
Thanks!Hi Patrick,

Calling servlet problem in iPlanet web server.
Hello, friends.
I have installed iPlanet web server 6.0. After installation I am using the default virtual server only. Thus, for all testing pages also, I use the default Document Root only (C:\iplanet\servers\docs\testsite) (I think, here "docs" is the default document root, right? If I am wrong, please correct me). I have got 2 JSP pages and 1 servlet. I put the JSP pages, into "testsite" folder and put the servlet into a folder called "myservlets" (C:iplanet\servers\docs\myservlets).
The jsp1.jsp page calls the servlet.class and in return the servlet redirects to jsp2.jsp page.
My question is: what paths should I use in jsp1.jsp file and in servlet.class file?
Thanks in Advance for all your help,
~ NiravThere is a major security breach in authenticating
iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP3 and SP4 using Sun ONE
Directory Server. Using a valid user id, any
password except null string would allow user access
the restricted resources. iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP5
and 4.1 SP12 worked fine with similar configuration.Did you get an answer for this?
We are having the exact same problems with our iPlanet Web server 6.0 SP3.
thank you. -
Not able to activate web server in exe
Hello,
I have a problem with starting a web server. I have Vi that feeds the address of the directory to publish and after that it makes the server enable. And in the directory there are a few html files and a few jpg files. And the jpg files are attached to the html files. And then there are a few vi that appends other Vi:s front panels to images. And as the program runs the the image files in the server directory are over written (updated). So the point is to access via Web browser to the site where is some hyper links and behind he links are the photos of the few front panels. And my applications automatically updates the images.
Problem is that the server won't go on when I built and run the application. In development environment this works perfect. I tried this on a different PC also but the exe won't connect the server on either of the computers.
Need help, thanks
There is the web server start file attached.
Version is 8.2

web serverin luonti.vi 13 KBHi,
The instructions points out that some modification must be made to the .ini file. But that instruction page is made with labview 8.6 and I have version 8.2. There are a few differences like:
postScriptLevel2=False <---- My configuration file misses that part
WebServer.Enabled=True <---- That one is a bit different
This got me thinking though. Is the configuration file written in the stone? I mean that my application programmatically sets the server directory and then enables the server. This is because the directory changes when the application is installed in to another PC. And I checked that Both the server directory and server activation function work in stand alone application as quote
Remarks
The following table lists the characteristics of this property.

Error message upgrading Sun One Web Server
We currently use Sun One Web Server SP 4. I have a RSA Cleartrust Agent to install that specifies SP 5. I downloaded SP 7. When I try to install it I receive the following message - "A previous release of the Web Server has been detected in the server root. Please select a different server root." I tried stoppping all the services, then installing, same result. The documentation says to run the install, it would detect the previous version and install. Do I have to uninstall the previous version? I do not want to do that. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I install the sun one web server 6.1 sp6 and run as FastCGI mode. Each time i stop the web server, the "core" file is generated. The following is the steps which I setup the web server:
Server Path: /i03_01/SUNTest
1. Install Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP6
2. Install FastCGI library
3. Install php4.4.2
./configure prefix=/i03_01/php-fcgi enable-fastcgi
make
make install
4. copy the php binrary to /i03_01/SUNTest/bin
5. vi magnus.conf
Init fn=load-modules shlib="/i03_01/fastcgisp4/plugins/fastcgi/libfastcgi.so"
6. vi mime.types

app-env="PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUEST=1000"
restart-interval="60"
app-env="PHPRC=/i03_01/SUNTest/https-www/config"
</Object
8. Start the Web Server
9. Open the browser, run any php programs. (the php process will be created at this time)
10. Stop the web server (* core file is generated at /i03_01/SUNTest/https-www/config)
Here are the error logs:

Any one can help me?
Thanks.This has been fixed. But the plugin whch contains the fix (as part of Web Server 6.1) is not available for download yet.
Meanwhile, you can try using the FastCGI plugin bundled with Web Server 7.0 Techonology Preview ( http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=446518d5 ) -
Can't access folder on a TC drive via web server
Here's the setup:
I got a MBA (10.6) as a simple web server sharing files to a remote computer via VPN. For this, I created a symbolic link to the folders I want to share and dropped it into the root user's library/webserver/documents.
The remote client accesses the folders via web browser with the internal IP (192.168.xxx.xxx/"folder") of the host (I know, there are fancier ways to do this, but that's how I've been doing it so far).
Now, I wanted to relocate some of the folders to my TC drive. I did so, however I got an error message saying 'Forbidden, You don't have permission to access xxx on this server'. I tried to change the access permissions of the folders in question on the TC, but no avail.
I couldn't reach them from the local net either.
Anyone here, who knows how to solve this problem? Put it another way, is it even possible to access the TC that way?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!Thanks for the answer, but it was not the solution I have been looking for.
I found a provisional workaround installing MAMP. Dropping the symlink folder in htdocs did the job. However, I'd be glad, if someone out there knew how to do this on the native OS X Apache, since running an additional server is pretty bothersome. -

palak_shahHi
I agree usage of HttpClient is a better and a simple method.
But If your Application Requirements are Simple you may go by using URL & URLconnection Objects in java.net package.
Just to Add In You Can Checkout the links given below to have a better understanding of how the communication works...
The Example APPLET code:

Error message when deploying war file to sun web server 6.1
i've been trying to deploy an application developed locally in tomcat to a local install of sun web server 6.1, and can't seem to get it to work. the error message i am getting now is:
[05/Dec/2008:12:44:08] config ( 1640): for host xxx.xxx.xxx.xx trying to GET /cart/index.jsp, handle-processed reports: HTTP2205: The request method is not applicable to the requested resource.
but that is the only error showing up. i've found some other forum topics involving memory issues (not the case here) and mime.type issues (not the case here), but nothing where this is the only error message showing up.
any ideas? anyone?I deployed the application using a WAR file I created and the Server Manager.
I've been able to get a JSP running in the $INSTALL_DIR/docs directory (database connectivity, result set printing, session data storing) but not outside of there.
I switched to "finest" error reporting, but that isn't really helping much either.
I even deployed one of the sample WAR files that came with the installation (webapps-simple.war), and it failed too, the error message I got was:

Deploying war files on iplanet web server 6.0
Hello All,
I tried to deploy an war file on iplanet web server 6.0 using both command line wdeploy and iplanet webserver browser based admin tool. Both the times it did say successfully deployed. I checked the WEB-INF files and it does contain all class files..But the problem is when I try to post a form to one of the class files the error log says as if it cannot find the class file.(I tried the sample app HelloWorld supplied by vendor)
=========
05/Mar/2002:13:19:14] config (13777): for host xx.xx.xx.xx trying to POST /samples/helloworld/GreeterServlet, handle-processed reports: The request method is not applicable to this requested resource.
=================
any help in this regards is appreciated
Thanks
sudhirHello,
I got few steps to deploy the WAR file, if you followed the same steps and got the error then ignore this else try with this steps.
a) Set your environment variable IWS_SERVER_HOME to your server_root directory.
b) Add the server_root/bin/https/httpsadmin/bin directory to your classpath.
c) Configure your virtual server for web applications.
From the Server Manager page, select the VirtualServerClass tab, select a Class, and click the Manage button.
Select a Virtual Server and go to the Java Web Apps Settings page for that virtual server. Make sure that the virtual server has Web Apps State turned On, and web-apps.xml is the name of Web Apps File.
To extract the sample WAR file HelloWorld.war in server_root/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld, use the wdeploy command as follows:
wdeploy deploy -u /hello -i server.iplanet.com -v testvs -d
/iws60/https-server.mydomain.com/testvs/web-apps/hello
/iws60/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld/HelloWorld.war
The syntax for the command is as follows:
wdeploy deploy -u uri_path -i instance -v vs_id [-d directory] war_file
uri_path Specify the URI prefix (a path to access the web application from the browser).
instance Specify the server instance name. (Note: Do not include "https" in the front.)
vs_id Specify the Virtual Server name as it appears on the Manage Virtual Servers page.
directory Specify a directory to extract WAR files. If this directory doesn't exist already, it will be created for you now.
war_file Specify the name of the WAR file.
If the WAR file is extracted successfully, the message "web application deploy successful" appears at the command line.
For verification, go to the /iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello directory. It should have the following contents:
colors
index.jsp
META-INF
WEB-INF/
web.xml
/classes/
HelloWorldServlet.class
HelloWorldServlet.java
SnoopServlet.class
SnoopServlet.java
In the server_instance/config directory, the web-apps.xml file should have the following entry:
<vs>
<web-app uri="/hello"
dir="/iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello"/>
</vs>
Restart the server instance from the command line or go to the admin GUI and apply configuration changes to the server instance.
Now when you access the webserver instance in your browser, the Error log of that server instance will record successful initialization of the web application environment(web-apps.xml) for the virtual server(vs name). You can access the web application from a browser as follows:
http://server.Mydomain.com:80/hello/index.jsp
or:
http://server.Mydomain.com/hello/
The syntax is as follows:
http://vs_urlhost[:vs_port]/uri_path/[index_page]
Thanks

How to Download a file from web server using servlets
how do we download a file from Java Web Server connecting to oracle database
it should start as soon a i click a button in my html browser
please reply as it is needed to complete my project to submited to the collageWith SQLJ you can do it.
When you look at:
http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/basic/basic.htm
or
http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/advanced.htm
There are samples for reading LONGRAW / BLOB from Database. If you want use it in servlet you have to pass the result to the responce object, set the correct mime-type and set the response.setContentLength( xx). This is for some PlugIns nessessary (pdf).

Web app context file in java web server?
I'm being forced to move an application from Tomcat 5.5 to Web Server 6.1. I'm used to putting my app's context information into a context xml file that in Tomcat 5.5 is deployedin in $tomcat_home/conf/Catalina/localhost/. I define my jdbc connection pool there, as well as environment entries for the application. That way I can use the same war file, but run the application with different configuration settings.
It doesn't seem like Web Server 6.1 supports that, or am I missing something in the documentation. I thought the notion of the context file was generic to the servlet container spec even in the 2.3 servlet spec....but maybe that's specific to Tomcat. So now how can I pass environment information to the application?The SJS webserver does not support context.xml, you are correct.
However, most of the things done in context.xml can be done through other ways.
JDBC conncetion pools are global to the server instance, and are declared in server.xml
http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0130/agapuirf15.html#wp297682
The web apps descriptors allow to configure web apps parameters. In SJS webserver there are two descriptors, the standard web.xml, and sun-web.xml.
http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6251/pwadeply.html
Regarding passing environment information, what exactly do you have in mind? the web server supports JNDI resource-env-ref, that can be used to pass environment entries to a web-app.
If you have any particulars needs, or more specific questios, feel free to post them here. -
Best Practice for serving static files (gif, css, js) from front web server
I am working on optimization of portal performance by moving static files (gif, css, js) to my front web server (apache) for WLP 10 portal application. I end up with moving whole "framework" folder of the portal WebContent to file system served by apache web server (the one which hosts WLS plugin pointing to my WLP cluster). I use <LocationMatch> directives for that:
Alias /portalapp/framework "/somewhere/servedbyapache/docs/framework"
<Directory "/somewhere/servedbyapache/docs/framework">
<FilesMatch "\.(jsp|jspx|layout|shell|theme|xml)$">
Order allow,deny
Deny from all
</FilesMatch>
</Directory>
<LocationMatch "/partalapp(?!/framework)">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WLCookieName MYPORTAL
</LocationMatch>
So, now browser gets all static files from apache insted of the app server. However, there are several files from bighorn L&F, which are located in the WLP shared lib: skins/bighorn/ window.css, wsrp.css, menu.css, general.css, colors.css; skins/bighorn/borderless/window.css; skeletons/bighorn/js/ util.js, buttons.js; skeleton/bighorn/css/layout.css
I have to merge these files into the project and physically move them into apache served file system to make mentioned above apache configuration works.
However, this approach makes me exposed bunch of framework resources, which I do not to intend to change and they should not be change (only custom.css is the place to make custom changes to the bighorn skin). Which is obviously not very elegant solution. The other approach would be intend to create more elaborate expression for LocationMatch (I am not sure it's entirely possible giving location of these shared resources). More radical move - stop using bighorn and create totally custom L&F (skin, skeleton) - which is quire a lot of work (plus - bighorn is working just fine for us).
I am wondering what is the "Best Practice Approach" approach recommended by Oracle/BEA - giving the fact that I want to serve all static files from my front end apache server instead fo WLS app server.
Thanks,
Oleg.Oleg,
you might want to have a look at the official WLP performance support pattern (Metalink DocID 761001.1 ) , which contains a section about "Configuring a Fronting Web Server Serving WebLogic Portal 8.1 Static Artifacts ".
It was written for WLP 8.1, but most of the settings / recommendations should also to WLP 10.
