ADI - Excel Time Outs
Since upgrading to Excel 2000 (running on NT) and ADI Ver 7, I am now plagued with an error message (?) from Excel while downloading GL data.
Excel continuously stops and reports "Waiting for another application to complete OLE operation". ADI stops at this point waiting for the OK button to be pressed. As there is no Cancel button, the message seems particularly pointless.
Is there a time out setting somewhere that will stop this?
WDA uses a Dialog Work Process just like a SAPGUI session and is subject to the same timeout limit on continuous processing within this work process.
In addition there is also a separate timeout parameter at the ICM level. This controls how long the HTTP connection is held open while wiating on the Diag Work Process to complete its work. The ICM time out is generally set shorter than the dialog WP timeout - default is set to 60 seconds.

Report server times out for 3 mb of excel
I'm using a report viewer control in our application and it is working fine while displaying data and exporting it in different format by clicking export button provided by the report viewer.
I have another page but there will be a normal asp button to generate same report. so i am using report viewer control and calling the public method .Render exposed by the report viewer.
byte[] bytes = rptViewver.ServerReport.Render("Excel", deviceInfo, out mimeType, out encoding, out extension, out streamids, out warnings);
this time i am getting below exception.
Exception :System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 504: Connection Timed Out.

My doubt is like, why it is getting time outs while leveraging same report viewer control internally.
any suggestions to get rid of this?Hi sGudivada,
Please check the ExecutionLog view in ReportServer database to learn more information about the report. The report server execution log contains information about the reports that execute on the server or on multiple servers in a scale-out deployment. For
example:
TimeDataRetrieval fields. Record number of milliseconds spent retrieving the data.
TimeProcessing fields. Record number of milliseconds spent processing the report.
TimeRendering fields. Record number of milliseconds spent rendering the report.

Export Report times out - how do I export all my customers?
We have about 35,000 customers in our BC database.
I'm trying to export them for use in a direct mailing campaign (and other reports for other reasons) but the export always times out.
The reports are very simple; ie.
Custom Report -> Add customer report
Select Customers (Contacts & Companies)
Select CRM ID, Customer Name, Default Address Type
Next
Generate report (no filters)
About 33,000 results are in the report.
I then select Export Report as CSV or Excel and it will sit there for up to an hour or more and do nothing.
Notes:
I keep the session live by having a login in another tab.
Have tried differenty browsers and internet connections.
I even filtered the results (based on create date) and same problem occurred with just 15,000.
How can I export this report and other simple reports I need?
Regards,
Troy. After Sanjit took a look at this it turns out all I needed to do was to save the report before exporting the results. The export was much quicker and, now we have more cutomers in our database, it actually exports!
Thanks again Sanjit.

Environment: We are running SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition with Analysis Services. Reporting Services on a separate machine. Visual Studio 2010.
I have a Date dimension with a generated table named Time. To the table I have added custom columns to show Week_Ending and Short_Date_Alpha that are used in Excel Reports from the Analysis Services Cubes.
When I attempt to use this dimension in Reporting Services, it times out if I try to use it as a parameter. The report will run for 30 minutes, never surface the parameter selection box and then eventually time-out with an unknown error related to
the time dimension. This is in Visual Studio.
If I pull the dimension directly from the SQL table I can produce a report on it. If I run the full query for the measures with the default date selected it runs in seconds in the query builder. Here are 10 rows of the relevant
table structure:
PK_Date Date_Name Reporting_Year Reporting_Year_Name Reporting_Month Reporting_Month_Name Reporting_Week Reporting_Week_Name Reporting_Day Reporting_Day_Name Short_Date_Alpha End_of_Week_Name Week_Ending WorkDay

The dimension looks fine when I browse it. It produces the correct information in the Excel Reports, but I cannot get it to work in Reporting Services.
I have deleted dates out of the cubes and processed, then added the Time dimension back in and processed and it still won't work. I have a cube running off a table called Date and that seems to work.
Is the issue with the table name? With the custom descriptions? Something else? How would you best suggest limiting the time frame? Add a filter to the query so that the future dates are not part of the selection? I'm doing some data refresh in the data mart so won't be able to try limiting the selection
for a few hours.
Hi Diane,
Could you please let us know how many available values for your date parameter(the quantity of date dimension in SSAS)? One workaround that we can try to add an additional text parameter which will prefilter the available values in the large parameter list.
Here is similar thread about this topic for your reference, please see:

UWL: Time Out Error in EP6
Hello,
We are on EP 6.0.
We have configured UWL for R3 and CRM systems. Recently user started getting below error message
"Time out occured. Time taken is more than 30 seconds"
I know In EP7 we have this parameter in Optional Configuration under UWL admin. But this is not present in EP6.
Can you please tell me the place where I can configure this parameter ?
Regards,
VinodHi Vinod,
I believe that this parameter is not available on the UI for your version. Can you please check the following:
On the portal go to System Admin, System Configuration, System Landscape.
Scroll down in the system landscape and try to find your CRM system that you are connecting to.
Once you have found this right click and select open. Next select, connection tests. Click on the boxes, and select test.
This provides useful information as to why the connection isn't working or is timing out. Another thing that you can do is to check the UWL log files.
Could you please post the outcome of the connection tests? The tests need to be successful for the UWL to work properly.
Will you be upgrading soon? The reason why I am asking is because there are many excellent features in the newer versions of the Universal Worklist, like the real-time refresh feature.

System time out when saving report from portal
Hi,
We have a problem where the report output either gets time out or gives an output after 30 minutes if we try to save a report from portal in the form of excel.( report is run on the web)
Generally the query output has not more then 32k records.
Is it the number of records in the portal output which is the cause of the issue??
This is not the issue with the reports with leess number of records.
Can we do something to improve the performance here??
Thanks
AjeetTry creating aggrates on the cube. this may change the performance.
also you can change the query execution time.
but better check for some performance tuning by using aggrates.
check below suggestions also:

Time Out error when running Service Confirmation List Report
Hi All,
I am using CRM 7.0 version and some users (not all) when try to run a report in Service Confirmation List Report in WebUI Client, TIME OUT error comes up.Some times the timeout happens when the data is being extracted, but most often the timeout is when I try to download to Excel.
I checkedin ST22 and the problems seems to be in program CL_CRM_BOL_ABSTR_BO===========C in this method IF_BOL_BO_PROPERTY_ACCESS~GET_PROPERTY_AS_VALUE ... There is a restriction, that a dialog-process can run a maximum of 600 sec- after this, the process is stopped.
Does anyone has the similar problem. I don´t know if increasing the maximum time for the time out; should be a good solution OR run the report via Background. However I don´t know How to run it in Background.. Does anyone has any idea?
Any information is much appreciated!
Thanks!Parameer max/wp_eun_time is set to 1800 sec
By increasing the above value to higher, you can get the result.
But 1800 sec runtime for a transaction code is not a good one, check the time entities by tracing the execution(ST05) and tune if required.

Converting Large Files - It Times-Out
Hi, I have two files that I need to convert from PDF to Word. One is 40 MB and the other is 18 MB. They both time-out while converting. Note, however, that I did successfully convert a 27 MB file - so the limitation can't be strictly based on size. It seems to be based on the intensity of the conversion/complexity of the file itself.
Is there a way to download the PDF-to-Word converter so that I can do the conversion locally? Can I send (FTP?) the files to you and ask you to do these conversions?
Any help you can provide would be great.
Michael DowdingThanks anyway. I purchased a different utility that lets me convert locally on my Windows laptop.
I’d been using the online service you offer (in Acrobat Reader it’s Save As Word or Excel Online) and it’s done a good job. But these files I was working with were so big and so graphics-intensive, it was timing-out your remote service. So I bought Wondershare PDF Editor and it did the job.
Thanks for your reply. -
Hello community,
I have an Excel Model that that i have been using fine on Excel 2010 64bit. It uses relatively large amounts of data from different sources via
PowerPivot.(Circa 25 different tables, with different sql queries and results totalling around 800K rows at a time)
The main excel sheet then uses cubevalue functions and measures to retrieve this data.
I upgraded to Excel 2013 32Bit yesterday. On opening the powerpivot within the sheet, i am required to update the powerpivot version, which i do. After updating , i refresh the Powerpivot tables, and return to the main sheet.
The cubevalue functions do return all of their required values, but other formulas in the sheet do not work. Excel gives me the error "Excel rand out of resources while attempting to calculate one or more formulas. As a result, these formulas
cannot be evaluated"
The PC is running a 64bitOS with 16GB ram, windows 7, so i don't think actual memory is the issue.
My second guess was the downgrade from 64bit to 32bit, however a colleague of mine is running a similar PC but with Excel 2010 32bit. The Excel Model works fine on his PC.
I am now lost as to what is wrong. Excel does not even explicitly tell me which formula is causing the issue.
Could it be that the 2013 Excel in general just uses significantly more memory, such that my excel file now cannot run in a 32bit Excel?
Any ideas or help on this would be much appreciated. There do seem to be things in Excel 2013 that use more memory than Excel 2010 (Excel tables for example).
If you are using PowerPivot then most people recommend 64-bit Excel

I tend to need larger files extracted to Excel. I've found that these time out. Are there settings to extend the conversion time? Or, is there an option to select specific pages to be able to break the conversion into seperate pieces?
Nope. Downloads were attempted only to my MBP. Unsuccessful when attempted through the TC, whether wired or wireless. Successful when MBP connected directly to the ethernet jack for the internet connection.
After downloading files directly connected, I can move the files around on the network via wireless - for example MBP to TC - with no issues.
Haven't done anything with these files on the Dell - just noted that for network load. I use that thing as little as possible. It's running Windows 7 64 bit.

SSO Partner Application and Session Time out
Hi ,
We have an application on forums.oracle.com which is implementing the Authentication scheme as SSO, that is working well, now we want to implement Session Time out if the user is idle for some time and ask him to login again after the session fails, I have tried to implement this feature as given by Scott in the thread session timeout , well the problem is since we dont have a login page here how do we set the cookies owa_cookie.send(
name => 'HTMLDB_IDLE_SESSION',
value => to_char(sysdate+(20/1440),'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
expires => null,
path => '/',
domain => null
and where is the current point to implement it.
Any help on this is greatly welcome.
Thanks in Advance.Naveen,
I don't remember how the solution works. But if you don't have a login page you can usually put code in the post-authentication process of your authentication scheme to do whatever the login page process would have done.

Dear All,
We have a business requirement to monitor and optimize the CRM WEB UI timeout and other related issues.
I would like to have time-out pop-up for the call center agents and hence they could better manage the sessions .
This will avoid loosing the valuable customer data for the session and so on.
We are now working on the following threads with CRM Technical folks.
Please share your experience or the detailed steps if you had implemented already.

VenkatHello Venkat,
For business roles of type IC Webclient, you have to implement SAP Note 1877120. Don't forget to update your view layout in your custom enhancement if you have enhanced CRMCMP_IC_FRAME/HiddenView.
After implementation of 1887120, also implement 1977631 and 1955366.
