(ADI) JOURNAL UPLOAD IS ADDING ZEROS TO SEGMENT VALUES

Problem Description
ADI에서 Journal Import를 시도할때, Account segment value값에"0"를 자리수만큼 채워서 upload를 시도하는 경우가 있다.
예를들어, segment value가 300 인데, ADI에서 Journal Import시
0300 으로 바뀌는 경우이다.
이 경우, Segment Value중에 0300이라는 값이 없기 때문에, upload시
에러가 발생한다.
재현방법 :
Responsibility = General Ledger Super User
ADI path = Click on the Ledger Book from the ADI toolbar/Enter Journals
1. Log on to ADI as the General Ledger Super User.
2. Proceed to the Create Journal Worksheet form using the above navigation.
3. Choose the appropriate journal type and click on the green check mark to
continue. This will load Excel and the appropriate journal template.
4. Enter your Journal information in the header and body. Place the value of
the segments that you would like in the segment value portion of the journal.
5. Once the journal is completed, click on the Ledger Book from the ADI toolbar
and select the green arrow to upload the journal.
6. Once the journal upload is complete, you notice that the values that were
uploaded for a certain segment have a zero added to them.
Solution Description
"0"가 자릿수만큼 채워지는 것을 막기위해, ADI setup중 "Zero Pad" 기능을 uncheck한다.

ADI path = Click on the Hammer and Screwdriver(망치와 드라이버가 그려져 있는 Icon) from the ADI toolbar/General
options/Settings
1. Log on to ADI as the General Ledger Super User.
2. Proceed to the Settings form using the above menu path.
3. Uncheck the Zero Pad check box on this form.
4. Save your changes and repeat the journal import process for this journal.
Explanation
"Zero Pad"기능은 check되었을때, 해당 Segment의 Maximun Size만큼 "0"으로 채워준다.
이 기능을 uncheck하면, "0"의 추가확장 없이 입력된 그대로를 사용하게 된다.

Error - Journal Entry in R12 -"This balancing segment value....."

Hello Friends,
On R12 -> PROD version
When I enter an Account in Journal, I am getting Error - > "This balancing segment value is not valid for current Ledger"
It is completly a new setup of R12 accounts.

Finally I was able to post to GL, ofcourse learned in process how to find where the issue lies. Anyway....still there are some questions.
Coming back to my earlier 2 questions:
I noticed, when I assigned Balancing Segment to the Primary Ledger, I get the problem "This balancing segment......", so I just didnot assign any this time and was able to post to GL. I understand that BS assignment might be required to balance the entries in Ledger but I then have not yet quiet grasped the concept, so for a while I might just go with this.
The 2nd error, I did get that again but I proceeded inspite of that and it is working okay, so donot know what was that one for and now that I know have to dubug, I will keep an eye for it and post any info on that later.

ADI Journal Upload

A quick question regarding the network connectivity requirement of ADI. We are using a WAN connectivity to connect all Oracle Financial server remotely. What is the network latency requirement to have the ADI service to run with an acceptable performance.
We have some colleague that have LAN access to the server and login to the ADI requires ~1 mins. For those remote site, user usually take 6 mins to login to ADI, so if anyone can tell me what is the network latency requirement of the ADI application, it will be highly appreciated.

100 MS latency will be ideal. The more the latency slower will be ADI performance. I hope you are using ADI client Server version. If your users are not power users, you should try WEB ADI.

Balancing Segment Value assignment to Legal Entity using Account Setup Mgr

This is on r12.06
By mistake- I did not assign BSV at Legal Entity level, insteady I directly assigned at Ledger level. Now, I am getting following error when running "Accounting Program" standard program
The subledger journal entry contains lines with balancing segment values that are not assigned to any legal entity. Unassigned balancing segments cannot be used to balance a subledger journal entry with balancing segments already assigned to a legal entity. Either update the balancing segment value assignments for the ledger ADP/Claims Solutions Group or update the balancing segment values used on the subledger journal entry Upon research, It was discovered that that the Balancing segment is assigned only at ledger level and it is not assigned at Legal Entity level in account setup manager.
When I attempted to assign the BSV at LE level, it is not showing the BSV in list of values.
I even end dated BS at ledger level and tried again but still the concerned BSV is not showing up in LOV at Legal entity level.
Now I am completely stuck. Any idea what am I missing? Why, the new BSV is not showing up at LE level LOV when attempting to assign BSV at LE level?

Once a BSV is assigned to the ledger it does not appear in the LOV of BSV-LE assignment field. Pl see if you can delete the BSV from ledger assignment, then only you can re-assign to LE. In my opinion, it allows you to delete the BSV from ledger level if you have not already used it in transactions. In your case, I wonder if it will allow you to delete it. If not, you have to raise SR with Oracle support.

ADI Journal Template Upload Error

I setup an ADI Journal Template and copied it to a shared folder. When another user opens the template it comes up with a signon request, even though ADI is already up and running:
You have not signed on to the required Applications Database.
It's almost as if another user cannot access a Template that was not created on their PC. For now, users are cutting and pasting the data into their own templates. Is there a workaround for this problem? Is it a responsibility issue?

ADI stores the name of the database you signed on to when creating the Journal Template. Have the second user create or modify their database name to the same as yours and you will find that they can use the template.

Problem with video, My upload video is zero when I initiate ???

I recently upgraded my cable to 8megs download, 1 full meg upload.
Now in some two way and most three way video chats my upload starts as
zero or goes to zero shortly.
When it does work intermittently, it is very high. Connection doctor shows up and downloads as high as 900 framerate 20.
I have roadrunner time warner cable, no router, no firewalls, QT streaming set at 1.5 as Ralph and other say, NONE as limite in ichat. I have tried altering the AIM port from 5190 to 443 no help.
Could it be a bad modem? Is there a problem with ichat being able to match the higher upload and download I have now with the premium service/ Prior to this I had no problem with two way ichats. I only went to premium service because the prior service was just not quite enough to initiate three way videos, the upload was only 340 at best.

Ok on the Uninstall.
I would Repair Permissions and run the Cron scripts at this point just to get it as Clean a system as it can be.

1) The Instant On setting seems to make no difference.
Changing the Streaming setting to match your download or to 1.5Mbps is the real key of the Quicktime adjustment.
2) Newer modems seem to offer forwarding not only ports but list the Protocols as well.
Now in earlier devices it was impossible to forward the same port to two computers (IP addresses) on most of them.
As port 5190 needs to be forwarded for TCP and UDP it as if the modem thinks it is being forwarded twice.
For this reason we suggest that as a test at least that the Login port is dropped to port 443. This does two things:
a) drops it below the 1024 threshold and avoids NAT being done on it.
b) Leaves just 5190 on UDP to be forwarded in the Modem.
Just changing the port in iChat seems to do it, as then no data is on the 5190 TCP port.
3) As for the lower spec machine.
The lowest spec Mac can be a G3/600 with at least 100kbps up and down to Video chat.
A G4/1Ghz single processor is in fact at the lowest point of Multichats IF the connection is at least 384Kbps both up and down. (I used to have 1Mb down and only 256K up and Host multichats [on a Dual 1Ghz G4) so there is a sort of tolerance in these figures).
iChat works out a compromise that works in most cases so I would not worry too much.
4) Yes it is fair to say that pushing the envelope on the Specs does have an Effect.
My G4/Dual 1Ghz is fast enough and my previous internet speeds had a too low Uplink but did allow me to multichat. (there seems to be some sort of balancing out/averaging going on). However adding a second and a third Buddy to make a Four way did cause some blurriness of the pictures.
Also If I was invited to a Chat as a non host My slowness could effect the chat as well but to a lesser extent.
Get the fastest Computer with the best internet connection to Host.
5) With new modems it is sometimes difficult to judge whether they are good or not.
Sometimes they come loaded with "extra" features that can impact on something like iChat.
For Instance:
a) Denial of Service Attack protection (DoS) This is supposed to stop your computer being swamped with requests if you were running a web page server. It judges if too much data is coming to your machine and closes the connection if it thinks this is happening. Sometimes this is too restrictive for Video Chats at the Quality that iChat can produce. As to whether a particular device can alter this in a setting tends to vary. (my Netgear is an On or Off setting)
b) SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) is Similar but devices that have this can normally adjust it.
c) QoS (Quality of Service) is similar again but more restrictive than SPI and more like DoS
d) As I have mentioned Protocols on Port Forwarding.
e) There is a setting on most devices called the MTU. It is about packet size. The default is always 1500 and changing it to 1492 can help.
f) The way the device may do NAT (Network Address Translation) may not be liked by the device at the other end. It has about 6 main popular ways this is done by Manufacturers and can be a problem. (Hence the push towards UPnP if you have it as UPnP does not use NAT).

ADI Journal - Journal Date

All,
Client is using ADI to upload Journals into Oracle General Ledger. We have to restrict backdated entries. Is there a way to default Journal date to the system date and removing the access to this field to the user.
If it is not possible in ADI, is there a workaround in GL.

Web ADI Journal Layout

Could someone please advise if it is possible to change the Web ADI Journal layout to a Cross Tab format (i.e. Accounts down the page and Periods across the top of the page)

I guess you are in a test environment, so I would update the table, and test thoughtfully.
what was the application id in the source environment? if it changed, then you should check with who performed the upgrade.
if instead the integrator application id changed, then you might ask a patch from oracle.
Least but not last, if your manager is in a hurry and s he is against direct update on the table, go front end and recreate it - it takes 10 minutes. however this introduces another step and dependencies in the system upgrade process, and you might want to have as few as possible steps in it.

Customize the WEB ADI Journal Import layout

Hi ,
I would like to know from gurus , on how to customize the WEB ADI Journal Import Template, as per the client's requirements.
I would like to add a custom validation for a line level reference column (Referenc6 of GL JE Lines) and also for the Accounting Date column in the Template's Header field.
Kindly suggest me which package / setup needs to be looked at so that I can include the validations. I could see lots of BNE stuff ..not sure where to go for.
We are on 11.5.10 Oracle Applications version on 10g Database and trying to create the layout with the responsibility 'DESKTOP INTEGRATION'.
Oracle Web ADI 11i 8.4.1.34.

Thanks for your reply, it was while trying to "edit" the page containing the shockwave file however it’s a bit of a strange one, as When I reposted this post , I had been experiencing the problem for about a week. I then went on leave for a week and when I returned it started working again???. I queried with my IT department if anything had changed or been updated but they could not think of anything.
So for now it's working, but if you have any thoughts on what may of happened I would appreciate any suggestions?

Removing Leading Zeroes in Location value

HI Gurus,
I am having some trouble in releasing demand plan to SNP. On the demand planning side, we are using standard characteristic 9ALOCATION for storing location values. When I release demand plan (using Location characteristic - 9ALOCATION) to SNP, I get a message saying 'Location 00000000000000003000 does not exist'. But, I have location '3000' assigned to the active model in APO system.
I believe this issue is arising because, the system is storing leading zeroes in Location value '3000' on Demand Planning side. I know that there is customization setting (SPRO-> APO -> Master data -> Product -> specify output format) to prevent leading zeroes from being added to product number. But I don't see a similar setting for Location and moreover I am using 9ALOCATION and not 9ALOCNO.
So, how can I remove leading zeroes in the values of 9ALOCATION.
Any help/comments are appreciated.

I found a solution to this problem. Unlike 9ALOCNO, Characteristic '9ALOCATION' has Alpha conversion routine. So this conversion routine fills up the leading zeros. I removed Alpha conversion routine from the 9ALOCATION in RSA1 and it works fine now.
