Adjust border

Is there a way to adjust borders? I change in sheet properties size to A4 landscape and borders automatically rearrange and in print preview do not fit on one page.
It also leaves an empty gap beneath the page, which I want to place on top.

Hello,
This has to do with print options. A lot of printers won't print edge to edge papers so there's always a wargin (the same way there is one in Word, Excel etcetc.) You can change all this options under the printer options » print sheet setup.
Kind regards,

    How do you change/adjust border width for all the cells in a table created in Pages?
    Note- I am trying to figure out how to create and format tables in the latest version of the Pages app on an iPad air (iOS 8.1.1.1) . Creating tables, adding or removing borders for individual/all cells in a table seems straight forward. However the default border style seems to be a heavy black line. How do I change this?
    I found the option add or remove borders for all/ individual cells in a table, however I can't find any option within style/format dialogue screens for changing colour or line thickness for table cells. Likewise I can't find any clear instructions on how to do this in apple help pages or support website
    Btw- I'm assuming  it is possible to customize/adjust the colour & thickness of selected lines in a table created in this app (it's fairly easy to do this word processing apps like MS Word) please let me  know if this is not actually possible in Pages

    They know perfectly well what they took out of Pages '09.
    Well over 90 features.
    Do you think you posting feedback is going to remind them of what they did?

    Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
    Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Adjusting border size when printing

    I'm trying to print photos. Last time I did this, I could adjust the size of the image within the given paper size (4x6) with a simple slider control. This made the white border around the picture bigger or smaller accordingly. I'm not finding the slider this time. Has something changed, or have I forgotten how to do that?

    You must have been using iPhoto 6 the last time as that's not available any more. There are themes now with different border options but no continuously adjustable border width.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Adjust border size

    anyone know how to change the border dimensions for the set of buttons? for the image the border is fine but for the buttons it takes up half the frame where the buttons only take up a quarter of the frame
    import javax.swing.*;

        private ImageIcon myicon = new ImageIcon("C:/Users/Documents/NetBeansProjects/OOPjava/src/Chapter15/image/my.jpg");
        private JButton okbt = new JButton("OK");
        private JButton cancelbt = new JButton("Cancel");
        public TestImageIcon(){
            JPanel p2 = new JPanel();
            p2.setLayout(new GridLayout(1,1,10,20));
            p2.add(new JLabel(myicon));
            okbt.setForeground(Color.ORANGE);
            okbt.setBackground(Color.red);
            JPanel p1 = new JPanel();
            p1.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
            p1.add(okbt);
            p1.add(cancelbt);
            p1.setBorder(new TitledBorder("Two Buttons"));
            p2.setBorder(new TitledBorder("My picture"));
          setLayout(new GridLayout(2, 1, 5, 5));
          add(p2);
          add(p1);
        public static void main(String[] args){
          TestImageIcon frame = new TestImageIcon();
          frame.setTitle("TestImageIcon");
          frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); // Center the frame

          frame.setVisible(true);
    } Edited by: 87654321 on 07-Sep-2011 06:12

    Don't use a GridLayout for the content pane of the frame. The GridLayout makes all components the same size.
    Use the BorderLayout which is the default layout for a frame anyway.
    //setLayout(new GridLayout(2, 1, 5, 5));
    //add(p2);
    //add(p1);
    add(p2, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    add(p1, BorderLayout.NORTH);

  • Credit Scroll - Title Effect - Cannot Adjust Border - Text Cut Off

    QUESTION:
    How can I insert 2 - 3 paragraphs into the credit scroll text effect, format it so the sides of it are not cut off, and prevent Final Cut Pro from reverting back to the default text that comes with the video effect?
    SUMMARY:
    I am trying, in vain, to copy and paste 2 - 3 paragraphs that I want to scroll across the page as if they were credits. Furthemore, I am trying to justify the whole thing to the left. The left and right edges of the paragraphs are cut off when I render the video using compressor. There is some kind of white box that holds the text. It appears to be the boundary of the text effect.The text bumps up against the boundary, but I cannot easily tell the text to give itself some space between it and the white boundary. If I double click the text effect I bring up a few difficult-to-use formatting tools. There are little white circles and triangles that appear to represent left tab, center tab, and right tab. Everything I do with these circles and triangles seems to have no impact or screws it up. To further complicate matters it seems when anytime I interact with this rudimentary formatting tool set I cause the entire text effect to default to its original form. I have to quit out of Final Cut Pro and reopen it and repeat the process by repasting the text.

    I gave up and just made an image in photoshop. I then keyframed the image to scroll across as the credit scroll effect should have done.

  • Trouble with Border Size when Printing

    I am having a great deal of difficulty with border size using PSE 9 and an Epson R800.  I have the latest driver for Windows 7, and still all of my photos come out with a .25" border (or greater if border is checked in the Adobe settings as well) when "borderless" is left unchecked.  I have tried all possible permutations of borderless with an added border, changing print size to trick the program, but cannot get the 3mm (.125") border I am accustomed to. Can anyone figure out what I am doing wrong?  Is a quarter of an inch on a 4x6 print the standard border?
    Thanks in advance
    Gregg

    How do you change/adjust border width for all the cells in a table I can't find any option to adjust colour or default w
    The built in help doesn't explains

    Unfortunately, once you make the copy, the only way to remap the items that it references is to do it manually.
    However, in the extended copy wizard, you do get a chance to keep this from happening at the time the copy is made. By default, as you've learned, the new copy wants to continue to reference the items that the old copy referenced.
    But there are two other options, which are selectable for each of the referenced items. The checkmark will be on "Leave" - i.e. leave the references as is. You can check "Copy", which will make a copy of the referenced item and point the reference at the copy. Or you can check "Remap", which will re-map the reference to a different existing item. Remap will lead you to another screen, where you can choose what existing item each remapped item will now reference.

    4) In crystal reports  Can we use our own SQL for creating a report instead of dragging and dropping the objects. can you please explain with an example
    5) Is there a way to export the report formulas, like totals to excel? in crystal reports.
    6) How can i use stored procedures in crystal reports.
    7) In oracle i have a table with some duplicate records what is the query to fetch only the records which are not dupleicated.
    8) In crystal reports how can i create prompts static and dynamic prompts (I tried to use parameter fields but i am not getting the data source fields under options)

    Hi,
    1) How can i use dynamic prompt in crystal reports likewise in WebI. Can you explain with step by step process.
    Please go through by below link.
    http://www.infosol.com/buildpage.aspx?k=cr_tt02
    2) How can i hide a complete column in webi (richclient/infoview)
    Unchecked the  auto height and width box.Set the column width 4px.Change the border color as white or remove border.
    And if you are hiding  column in middle of table then adjust border accordingly.
    3) In crystal reports Can we create report using more than one database?
    Yes you can use multiple database in the one report.
    Thanks,

  • Separatate column of Web Dynpro ALV table using a vertical line

    Hi Experts!
    I have Web Dynpro ALV table and  I have a requirement to add a colored vertical line between two columns as a separator.
    Is this possible? Is it possible to adjust border width of individual cells?
    I would be grateful for any ideas you may able to share.

    Both could be achieved by creating custom theme. But those changes will be applicable to tables and ALVs in your applications.

  • Herbstluftwm

    Couldn't find one of these yet.  Please contribute your own herbstluft stuff as well!
    First things first: Herbstluft is German for "Autumn air." I'm not sure what Autumn air has to do with window management, but it's a lovely name nonetheless.
    btw, Doomicide already has a nice thread about herbstluftwm on the #! forums.  He's covered some good stuff there, so I won't repeat it.  Doom, if you ever read this, I've used some of your stuff in setting up mine, but I'm not registered at #!.  Your effort is appreciated nonetheless.
    Anyway, I've recently switched from scrotwm to herbstluftwm.  This wasn't for any fault of scrotwm.  I just saw some screenshots of herbstluftwm, and it looked like it gave greater possibilities in terms of tiling layouts.  I tried it.  That was true.  I also found out that it has one particular feature that makes it capable of doing all kinds of crazy stuff.
    herbstluftwm is completely controlled and configured by shell commands.  There is literally no other way to get it to do anything.  You can map keybidings with it, but you do that with a shell command, and those bindings lauch other shell commands.  As you might guess, the config file is just a bash script (could be any shell language, I'm sure) that turns on your settings.  This means, of course, that you can use bash functions in the config file.  Not a super big deal.  awesome, dwm, and xmonad all use more powerful languages for configuration.
    What is a big deal is the fact that you can create additional scripts to preform rather sophisticated window management functions.  You could theoretically have an entirely new configuration file set to a keybiding to call whenever you wanted.  I haven't quite gone this far, but I did go pretty nuts with it.
    [edit]ok, I've actually gone farther now. I've written a script that allows hlwm to do some of the things dynamic tilers do. see "swap" script here
    [UPDATE]
    We've figured something out that will make the herbstluftwm autostart file run faster for everyone with a version of the program that includes the "chain" command:
    There is a line like this in the default autostart file:
    function hc() {
    herbstclient "$@"
    Comment it out and/or replace it with this:
    hc() {
    cmds="$cmds , $@"
    Then, at the end of the file, before the "# find the panel" section, add this line:
    herbstclient chain $cmds&
    This pipes all of your settings to herbstluftwm with a single instance of herbstclient rather than dozens of them. It also forks that process so it can find the panel while it's loading your settings. This should offer a noticeable increase in load speed on most systems. May have to modify some things if your autostart has anything wacky in it (like mine).
    Not that herbstluftwm loads slowly by default, but no reason not to squeeze out every ounce of performance, especially if you use an older system.
    original post follows
    So, by default, I like to have a sort of "solid wall" kind of look to my tilers, so I set it up to look more or less like this:
    Dzen with conky info came later, but we'll get there.  This shot also shows a frame layout that I like to work with, which I have set to a keybiding.  You do this with the 'dump' and 'load' commands as detailed in the man page.
    Anyway, then I decided that sometimes I might want to see my wallpaper a little bit, so I added a binding for an alternative, translucent terminal and created bindings to change the gap between frames.  It actually uses the number keys, so I can set the gap to any even number of pixels between 0 and 18.
    I noticed that my default window and frame border settings didn't look right with the gap, so I wrote a script that changes the borders according to whether or not there is a frame gap.  (I also did a script to adjust the border settings for when herbstluftwm is in floating mode, and those colors also get adjusted according to the snapping gap)
    So then I figured out how to add the status bar, and I wrote a script to toggle it on and off.  Here it is off:
    I also decided that I wanted it to be different colors to go with adjusted border colors with and without the frame gaps, so I wrote a some scripts to handle giving dzen the right color to go with the gap size.  You can see a different shade of grey on the bar in the first two pictures.  This is probably more pedantic than what anyone else would want to do, but it makes me happy.
    There is one thing that herbstluftwm doesn't have build-in handling for that you might want, and that is fullscreen applications. You can make an application take up an entire frame and put it in fullscreen mode, but it won't hide the other frames or the bar (one of the reasons I wanted a binding to hide the status bar).  This isn't such a big deal, but it did prompt me to create one additional script that changes several config settings to make a better environment for watching movies.  It changes the border colors to black and a very dark grey, and it changes the terminal launch command to launch a back terminal with dark grey text.  I did this so I could leave up the mplayer output in a way that wasn't distracting.  This script also turns off dzen by default, but it can be brought back with the same subdued color scheme as the terminal.
    And finally, here's a scrot from two days ago showing how the floating mode looks (or rather, can look).
    Scripts in the next post.

    ~/.config/herbstluftwm/mindthegap $(cat ~/.config/herbstluftwm/gap)
    Ok, I've changed some of the default settings and keybindings, and I added dmenu.  I also added a second terminal launch command with different settings, cause sometimes I like to see my wallpaper, and sometimes not.  That's pretty standard stuff that you can read about in the man page.
    First non-standard thing is in for loop that controls workspace switching, I've added a call for  ~/.config/herbstluftwm/mindthegap.
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ $1 = 0 ]; then
    herbstclient set frame_border_width 0
    herbstclient set window_border_normal_color '#1e1e1e'
    echo 1 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dcolor
    else
    herbstclient set frame_border_width 1
    herbstclient set window_border_normal_color '#101010'
    echo 2 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dcolor
    fi
    pkill conky
    if [ `cat ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dz` = 1 ];then
    ~/bin/dzen
    sleep .2
    fi
    herbstclient set window_gap "$1"
    herbstclient set snap_gap "$1"
    echo $1 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/gap
    This script is busy.  Changes the frame gap and the snap gap (being called in the for loop like it is, it means I any gap size I want from 0-18 on the fly. Not necessary, but it makes me happy, and I wasn't using the bindings for anything anyway), and it adujsts some border colors and widths to fit the way it should look with the gap (according to my tastes, at least). It also sets the color option for dzen (in the dcolor file) and kills dzen if it's running and if it's supposed to be on, resets the color and redraws it. 'dz' is just a file that contains either 1 or 0, depending on if dzen is running.  This brings us to ~/bin/dzen
    #!/bin/bash
    color=`cat ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dcolor`
    if [ $color = 1 ];then
    conky|dzen2 -fn '-*-bitocra' -bg '#1e1e1e' -fg '#888888'&
    elif [ $color = 2 ];then
    conky|dzen2 -fn '-*-bitocra' -bg '#101010' -fg '#888888'&
    elif [ $color = 3 ];then
    conky|dzen2 -fn '-*-bitocra' -bg '#000000' -fg '#1e1e1e'&
    fi
    This script checks the 'dcolor' file for a number which tells it which color scheme to use, which 'mindthegap' has just set. It also makes a space the "pad" command so windows won't cover dzen.
    Ok, what's next? back to the config file. The next thing of interest is ~/.config/herbstluftwm/autogap
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ "$(cat ~/.config/herbstluftwm/gap)" = "0" ];then
    ~/.config/herbstluftwm/mindthegap 4
    else
    ~/.config/herbstluftwm/mindthegap 0
    fi
    Just a simple script to toggle the gap on and off without having to think about pixel sizes.
    Next is ~/.config/herbstluftwm/float
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ `cat ~/.config/herbstluftwm/wb` = 1 ];then
    herbstclient set window_border_width 1
    herbstclient floating off
    echo 0 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/wb
    else
    herbstclient set window_border_width 2
    herbstclient floating on
    echo 1 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/wb
    fi
    This script toggles floating and tiling modes.  There is a command to do this automatically, so you don't need a script, but I wanted to change the border settings when I toggled, so this lets me do that.
    Then comes ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dzen.  It's just another simple toggle script that doesn't really need to be quoted.  It checks ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dz to see if dzen is on or not and switches it. If it turns it on, it uses ~/bin/dzen so the color will match gap and border settings.  Nothing you wouldn't expect to find in a toggle script.
    There is a 'load' command after that.  You can (and should) read about it in the man page.  After that is a binding for my movie-viewing mode via ~/.config/herbstluftwm/vidmode.
    #!/bin/bash
    pkill conky
    herbstclient pad 0 0
    echo 0 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dz
    herbstclient set frame_border_width 0
    herbstclient set window_border_normal_color '#000000'
    herbstclient set window_border_active_color '#060606'
    echo 3 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dcolor
    p
    herbstclient set window_gap 0
    echo 0 > ~/.config/herbstluftwm/gap
    herbstclient load '(split vertical:0.900000:1 (clients max:0 0x8024d4) (clients horizontal:0 0x8024f4))'
    herbstclient keybind Mod4-Return spawn urxvtc -fg rgb:1e/1e/1e -bg rgb:00/00/00
    This just changes a bunch of settings (including some contained in files called by the scripts) and loads a frame layout that I think is good for movies.  It also changes the color of terminal that the binding launches to something really dark.  The only way to get all the settings back after this is to reload the autostart file.
    It also calls the 'mindthegap' script to finish off the settings, so all the gap, border, and dzen settings will be persistent between sessions.  I've opted to have dzen start in every session regardless of how I left it by echoing a new value to ~/.config/herbstluftwm/dz.  I could leave it out, and that would also be persistent. I could also echo a set a specific gap size instead of cat-ing the old one.
    So, I guess that's it.

    I'm working in Photoshop CS6 on a Mac and am having trouble when I select a Path it automatically feathers the selection border. I can't seem to find any place to adjust a feather setting. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm using paths to silhouette an image on a photograph to use in another document and I need a hard edge on it, not a feathered one.

    In the Paths panel, click the flyout menu (in the top right of the panel) and choose Make Selection (this option will only be available if you have a path selected). Reduce the Feather Radius to 0 (zero) and click OK. This setting will be the default even when clicking the Load Path as Selection button.

  • Huge Bugs with Many Legs Still Living in Premiere Pro - (Border from Sharpening & Flickering from Adjustment Layer)

    I haven't edited video in awhile.  While working on a new project I've run into a bunch of what I suppose are well known issues in Premiere Pro CC 2014.  It seems Adobe has know about these issues for some time, but that for some reason, nothing is being done about them.  Here is my most recent experience with editing a video using PP:
    1. Found that color correction tools in Premiere Pro for setting White Balance Suck for folks who don't edit video 8 hours a day.
    Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution: White Balance in Premiere Pro CC on Vimeo
    The dude shows you how to use the Cyroce Color Neutralizer plugin from After Effects - but sure enough the current version of the plugin that ships with AE CC 2014 doesn't work with premiere any more so you have to download the old version from dude's website here:  http://www.sternfx.com/tutorials/136
    Thanks to the DUDE!
    2. Found out that adding an Adjustment layer can cause flickering in footage.
    Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution: PP CC 2014 - adjustment layers flickering problem : Adobe Premiere Pro  AND  Re: image flickering from adjustment layer
    Added mask to control flickering.  More specifically, I turned each effect in the adjustment layer on and off until I found the particular effect that was causing the flickering.  Then I created a mask in that effect which covered the entire frame.  Mystically the flickering disappeared.  Learned that if you make any changes to adjustment layer effects, flickering will return and you have to delete/recreate the mask once again. Ridiculous.
    3. Thought all was good and that I could now peacefully continue to finish my project.  I was wrong.  Found that adding sharpening in adjustment layer causes a small border to form around the entire frame.  The pixels seem faded or translucent or something.
    Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution:  Sharpening bug Premiere Pro - - Fourmedia
    So now I've learned that the sharpening effect needs to go on it's own adjustment layer.  Awesome.
    Flickering returns because I made a change to adjustment layer 1.  Re-mask.  Sweet.
    That's it.  Pretty sure this post will help folks out, but man I am going to run out and give another NLE a shot.  None of these operations should be this difficult.  Makes me wonder if Adobe even attempts to use their own programs.  I don't see how anyone could possibly let a huge tool like Premiere Pro suffer from these issues -- and for so long a period of time.  Absolutely ridiculous.  Adobe truly seems to be asleep at the wheel.  This is some amateur crap here.

    Thanks for this post. It would be cool (since Adobe doesn't seem to use their products) if there were more posts like this that I could read before I upgrade. I'm having the flickering w adjustment layer problem you mentioned in #2 - and this post is over month old! Aghh

    Uncheck Mirrored, you'll then be in Extended mode:

  • Adjusting Space between table - cell border and cell content ?

    Hi all,
    Need a quick help.
    I am using a static table. By default, I have some space between the cell content and the text (yes, the cell margins).
    I wanted to reduce this space to '0'.
    Is there any option to adjust the cell margins? Thanks in advance !!
    1 more Q:-
    There are no options to merge 2 cells, are there ?
    Thanks,
    Navin.

    Hi Naveen,
    Until Documaker 11.5, there are no options to reduce the cell margin and no options to merge cells as well.
    Thanks.
