Adjust brightness (too high)

Hello there!
I am big fan of Nokia since 2008, all the family uses it's smartphones (n82 > n78 > n8) and I haven't any troubles with the screen till last update of nokia n8 (belle), the brightness just to high to me. For example, on android 7 inch tablet with IPS display I can adjust brightness to the lowest point (it's about 4-7 kd/m2) so it would be look like backlight off at all, great for me.
Now for the question: as I presume, on Nokia lumia 920 the lowest point of screen brightness is "low" (which is about 60 kd/m2), is there any options to make it lower? Like 14 kd/m2? Or it's just impossible for Nokia's amoled screens?

  • Screen brightness too high

Hello, I have had my first blackberry for a few days now, and I'm in trouble with the screen brightness. I have sensitives eyes ad even at the lowest settings, the brightness is hurtful in dark rooms. It does not seem to be a bug nor a material issue specific to my phone, as most new phones and computers are also too bright. Therefore my question is is there a possibility to lower the screen brightness under the OS preset limit ?I am a developper so even a programmatical solution would be nice.  I have only seen outdated posts about this issue on the Internet, with no solution, maybe the problem could be solved in 10.3.2 or in the next versions ? Thanks a lot

Okay thanks, it is posted there : http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Native-Development/Screen-brightness-too-high/td-p/3122861. I also thought about always putting a semi-opaque frame on the foreground, as the android ight filter apps usually do.

  • Minimal brightness too high on x220

After installing Windows 8 x64 and latest video drivers from Lenovo, the minimal brightness became much higher then it was in Windows 7. Now at "0" value brightness is the same that it was on "3" or "4" in Win7. Is there any way to fix it?

Nobody have this issue or nobody knows the way to fix it?

  • After Mavericks, at start up, initial screen brightness too high and starting sound too loud, different than I left on previous shutdown. Didn't happen before the update.

I've tried sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=%80 for the sound, but it works just once... returns next startup's.

The first thing to do is use smartctl to test the drive. Start with the short test ( smartctl -t short /dev/sdX ), and if it passes run the long test ( ... -t long ... ).

  • Default Display brightness is too high.

Hi, i am using latest B2G 2.2 [2014-10-08, flame phone]
    Default display brightness almost 90%,
Every time i update firmware, i set this value to 10%.
i think this value is too high, it consume more battery.

Hi, my point is default value is too high,
    it affect battery life.
user some time forget set this value,
so i think this value should be changed by default.
now, i set this value to 0%
indoor, i can see my flame screen clearly with 0%

  • Automatically adjust brightness way too aggressive

I've noticed in low light situations, my new MacBook is almost constantly adjusting the screen and keyboard brightness. It's highly distracting. I've got around the problem by simply turning off "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes" in Displays, but I'd like to know if anyone else has this problem.
If it's unique to mine, I should probably get it fixed...

It is just how things are. However, some sort of software fix could probably improve it! I own another monitor with a light-sensor, and these just seem to be sensitive, especially in low light.
Take in considerations that it monitors the light continuously. If you are in a dark room, you will be lit by the display. So if you move around, the amount of light on you (and thereby the amount of light sensed by the sensor) will change. Resulting in some weird behavior.
So as you figured out yourself, turning it off gets the best result. Luckily it is easy to change the backlight of the display and keyboard.

  • PGC...data rate too high

    Hallo,
    message
nunew33, "Mpeg not valid error message" #4, 31 Jan 2006 3:29 pm describes a certain error message. The user had problems with an imported MPEG movie.
Now I receive the same message, but the MPEG that is causing the problem is created by Encore DVD itself!?
I am working with the german version, but here is a rough translation of the message:
"PGC 'Weitere Bilder' has an error at 00:36:42:07.
The data rate of this file is too high for DVD. You must replace the file with one of a lower data rate. - PGC Info: Name = Weitere Bilder, Ref = SApgc, Time = 00:36:42:07"
My test project has two menus and a slide show with approx. 25 slides and blending as transition. The menus are ok, I verified that before.
First I thought it was a problem with the audio I use in the slide show. Because I am still in the state of learning how to use the application, I use some test data. The audio tracks are MP3s. I learned already that it is better to convert the MP3s to WAV files with certain properties.
I did that, but still the DVD generation was not successful.
Then I deleted all slides from the slide show but the first. Now the generation worked!? As far as a single slide (an image file) can not have a bitrate per second, and there was no sound any more, and as far as the error message appears AFTER the slide shows are generated, while Encore DVD is importing video and audio just before the burning process, I think that the MPEG that is showing the slide show is the problem.
But this MPEG is created by Encore DVD itself. Can Encore DVD create Data that is not compliant to the DVD specs?
The last two days I had to find out the cause for a "general error". Eventually I found out that image names must not be too long. Now there is something else, and I still have to just waste time for finding solutions for apparent bugs in Encore DVD. Why doesn't the project check find and tell me such problems? Problem is that the errors appear at the end of the generation process, so I always have to wait for - in my case - approx. 30 minutes.
If the project check would have told me before that there are files with file names that are too long, I wouldn't have had to search or this for two days.
Now I get this PGC error (what is PGC by the way?), and still have no clue, cause again the project check didn't mention anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Christian Kirchhoff

    Hallo,
thanks, Ruud and Jeff, for your comments.
The images are all scans of ancient paintings. And they are all rather dark. They are not "optimized", meaning they are JPGs right now (RGB), and they are bigger then the resolution for PAL 3:4 would require. I just found out that if I choose "None" as scaling, there is no error, and the generation of the DVD is much, much faster.
A DVD with a slide show containing two slides and a 4 second transition takes about 3 minutes to generate when the scaling is set to something other than "None". Without scaling it takes approx. 14 seconds. The resulting movies size is the same (5,35 MB).
I wonder why the time differs so much. Obviously the images have to be scaled to the target size. But it seems that the images are not scaled only once, that those scaled versions of the source images are cached, and those cached versions are used to generate then blend effect, but for every frame the source images seem to be scaled again.
So I presume that the scaling - unfortunately - has an effect on the resulting movie, too, and thus influences the success of the process of DVD generation.
    basic situation:
good image > 4 secs blend > bad image => error
    variations:
other blend times don't cause an error:
good image > 2 secs blend > bad image => success
good image > 8 secs blend > bad image => success
other transitions cause an error, too:
good image > 4 secs fade to black > bad image => error
good image > 4 secs page turn > bad image => error
changing the image order prevents the error:
bad image > 4 secs blend > good image => success
changing the format of the bad image to TIFF doesn't prevent the error.
changing colors/brightness of the bad image: a drastic change prevents the error. I adjusted the histogram and made everything much lighter.
Just a gamma correction with values between 1.2 and 2.0 didn't help.
changing the image size prevents the error. I decreased the size. The resulting image was still bigger than the monitor area, thus it still had to be scaled a bit by Encore DVD, but with this smaller version the error didn't occur. The original image is approx. 2000 px x 1400 px. Decreasing the size by 50% helped. Less scaling (I tried 90%, 80%, 70% and 60%, too) didn't help.
using a slightly blurred version (gaussian blur, 2 px, in Photoshop CS) of the bad image prevents the error.
My guess is that the error depends on rather subtle image properties. The blur doesn't change the images average brightness, the balance of colors or the size of the image, but still the error was gone afterwards.
The problem is that I will work with slide shows that contain more images than two. It would be too time consuming to try to generate the DVD over and over again, look at which slide an error occurs, change that slide, and then generate again. Even the testing I am doing right now already "ate" a couple of days of my working time.
Only thing I can do is to use a two image slide show and test image couple after image couple. If n is the number of images, I will spend (n - 1) times 3 minutes (which is the average time to create a two slides slide how with a blend). But of course I will try to prepare the images and make them as big as the monitor resolution, so Encore DVD doesn't have to scale the images any more. That'll make the whole generation process much shorter.
If I use JPGs or TIFFs, the pixel aspect ratio is not preserved when the image is imported. I scaled one of the images in Photoshop, using a modified menu file that was installed with Encore DVD, because it already has the correct size for PAL, the pixel aspect ratio and the guides for the save areas. I saved the image as TIFF and as PSD and imported both into Encore DVD. The TIFF is rendered with a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio and NOT with the D1/DV PAL aspect ration that is stored in the TIFF. Thus the image gets narrowed and isn't displayed the way I wanted it any more. Only the PSD looks correct. But I think I saw this already in another thread...
I cannot really understand why the MPEG encoding engine would produce bit rates that are illegal and that are not accepted afterwards, when Encore DVD is putting together all the stuff. Why is the MPEG encoding engine itself not throwing an error during the encoding process? This would save the developer so much time. Instead they have to wait until the end, thinking everything went right, and find out then that there was a problem.
Still, if sometime somebody finds out more about the whole matter I would be glad about further explanations.
    Best regards,
    Christian

  • How to adjust brightness of part of the screen of shot video

    Hi,
I have a video I am editing and for the most part the brightness and contrast levels are fine. But when I pan to a LCD display which is part of the video, the brightness is way too high. I can't redo this clip, but am wondering if there is a reasonable way to apply a filter which just lowers the intesity of the LCD screen while leaving the surrounding areas alone. It would sort of be like the concept they chroma keying does (in a loose sort of way).
    thanks!
    'mark

Doesn't always work the way you think it should but you could try dropping the Broadcast Safe filter on the entire clip.
You could also just cut the clip where the brightness first appears and add the 3 way Color Corrector. Adjust it to where you like it and then add a disolve between the clips. (may or may not do it for you depending on how the bright spot comes into frame, but it's a fast workaround) Could keyframe the 3 way in if you like.
There are other things you can do with the 3 way to limit it's effect but to get a grip on it you should probably refer to the manual.

  • Lion OS X 7.4 Security settings too high, how can i put back to original settings?

I've been away at university all year and i've found that whatever security settings they've adjusted to use the college system, its put them up too high for things like iplayer and sky go. Iplayer streams but exceedingly slowly and eventually just stops and I think the security settings has stopped this. Skygo doesn't sign in on any of my browsers (mozilla, google chrome and safari, previously it had worked for firefox and chrome, now none of them work) and I have no idea how to fix this. If I could put the security settings back to their original form then I could then see if it was a security problem.

  • MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE too high stock voltage

Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle with me
I just bought a MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE video card which is 960mhz stock speed, but I found out that this card has a too high stock voltage which displays 1.18v in GPUZ and 1.25v in afterburner. I don't think the card can last long with such a high voltage so I want to lower it.
I try to adjust the voltage in afterburner, it seems it changes in the software (the slide did change). But GPUZ still displays the same voltage.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.
I've found the solution for that. I downloaded the version 3.00beta9 of afterburner and now it can change the vcore.
I changed the vcore from 1.25 to 1.05v. Now the card is running at 1050mhz, 57degree with 60% fan speed, cool and quiet. Before was 75 degree and 80% fan speed.
    I'm satisfied now.
Ive got Afterburner 2.31, its allows undervolting as well. But problem is that in boost mode new values are ignored and back to default. So in that case cant see any sense in doing that. Is that changed in ver 3?

  • Adjusting brightness on BOOTCAMP

    Hi
All along i was able to adjust the brightness and volume using F1,F2 etc when i was using windows 7 on macbook pro until recently. I was also unable to right click and scroll using the trackpad.
I downloaded input remapper to adjust the brightness and i just dragged it too fast and my whole screen became the dimmest! Which means I can't see a thing while running windows 7 now and what's more i can't adjust it back using the fn key! The mac system is all well, still able to adjust brightness and all. Is there anyway to adjust the brightness of bootcamp(windows 7) through the mac system?
    Thanks!

I just found out a solution! Open your mac then look at your battery if you see a little plug cnected to the battery simply unplug it... If you're still a little confused watch a video on youtube. Remember you don't have to unscrew anything else once your mac is open. Hope this helps, don't be scared to do this if you're new to opening macs.

  • Audio level too high

I created a slideshow with music behind it in iPhoto. It plays fine althought the audio level is noticably higher than another project I made with a different song. I added both projects to an iDVD project so I can burn 1 disc with both slideshows. They both preview fine in iDVD. Now after I burnt the dvd the audio tracks are distorted when I play them on my home DVD player. It seems the audio level is too high. Is anyone able to tell me how I can adjust my background music level? Thanks for the help.
    d

Thanks for the reply John. I thought I saw a setting to change levels somewhere but I think that was when I was importing a movie from my camcorder. I will try to edit the levels as you suggested later today and report back.
Incidentally, the audio is not distorted when I play the dvd from my computer. I am also going to see if I can get some other players to try it on.

  • Auto adjust brightness ... can it be reversed?

I cant remember if i had this problem with Snow Leopard. Not sure if this is a Lion issue or my new MBA either.
The auto adjust brightness seems to adjust the screen brightness to low in bright light and high in low light.
I would like it reversed as in the dark, i dont need a bright screen and in the day, i need the screen to be brighter.
Any body noticed this same adjustment on their Lion MBA?
If so, does any one know how to reverse it?
    Thanks

SAP has a program to reverse depreciation but it is somewhat complex and not available on OSS.  I'm also not sure if it is limited to (or can be ported if it is) to the older depreciation program RABUCH which would limit it to those customers that currently post using RAPOST2000.
But barring access to the program, it's not possible to reverse it.  You would have to proceed as Jagdish describes... feed the GL data that is -1 of the data that was posted.  I wouldn't do it, personally.

  • Mic recording volume too high

Even with the lowest input volume setting in System Preferences / Sound, the mic recording volume is too high and I'm getting clipping. I'm using an MXL Desktop Recording Kit from Marshall Electronics, with a Griffin iMic USB interface, and recording in GarageBand 3 on a Mac Mini.
I'm a folk singer playing a nylon-string classical guitar, so I'm not even especially loud! The MXL mic captures great sound quality, but it is so sensitive that even when I'm six feet away, my acoustic guitar and vocals frequently max out the sound levels and get clipped. The room where I record doesn't allow me to get much farther away, so I need a different solution.
I've tried using compression while recording, but this doesn't appear to limit the peaks or prevent clipping. Do I need to buy a hardware mixer or some other interface to allow me to further reduce the mic input level, or is there another software contol in GarageBand or someplace else (other than System Preferences / Sound) that I'm missing?
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, David
    Mac Mini G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   GarageBand 3

Thanks for these suggestions. I suspected GB effects wouldn't change the recording levels, but appreciate the confirmation. I checked the Audio/Midi setup in GB preferences, and I don't see anywhere to adjust the recording level there, just a selection for the audio input (source).
I have been using the iBooster, so I tried plugging the mic directly into the iMic and boosting the input level in System Preferences/Sound. This achieved a much lower input level; so low that the GB tuner couldn't even recognize the pitch of a single string when plucked. So this seems to create the opposite problem (recording volume too low). Good idea to try, though.
I will experiment with the room acoustics and try a larger space, but it still seems the recording level is just too high, period. Any other suggestions?
I saw a reference to a simple mixer in another GB thread (Behringer UB502 Eurorack). Could something like this be a possible solution?
    Thanks, David

  • Video Bit Rate Too High

According to the video-meter which indicates how much space is left on the DVD - in this case a single layer DVD-R, 4.7 GB - I have only used 3.7, so I have 1 GB to go and still the project won't build. As far as I know the green light in the Status column in the Asset tab means that the clip are good to go, am I wrong?
I havetried to reduce the Bit Rate to minimum, just to test, and still DVDPS prompt with that it is too high.
    The following are my settings:
    Video System PAL
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Field Order: Auto (we hate interlacing, don't we?)
    Mode: Two Pass VBR
    Bit Rate:6.0 mbps
    Max Bit Rate: 9.0 mbps
    Motion Estimation: Best
And that would be the default setting?
    Any help will be thankful!

Yeah..bitrate is so important. Just because your encoder indicates a high of 9.0 mb/s doesn't mean it won't go over that point from time to time - Every encoder introduced bitrate spikes (at least on occasions). You won't see a quality difference with 9.0 over 7.6 with encoders like Compressor. Do what Subquestion says and use AC3 audio unless your client absolutely demands it based on the content (concerts, audio titles, ect). With this you'll need to adjust for video bit rates to accommodate the higher audio bitrate.
