Adjust color filter drives me insane

I have a bitmap with a complex shape (rounded corner) and grandient whose fill I would like to change. Problem is, I have never understood how FW calculates the Hue and Saturation levels. The color I want is H = 69, S = 161 and B = 120, or #57d524. When I put these numbers in, I get white. What's the point of having the option to designate the exact levels if all I get is white? Then I have to "eyeball" the color, which I don't want to do.
The ideal would be either 1) for the panel to work as advertised or 2) for there to be a "convert bitmap to shape" command, then I could set the gradient colors as I wanted. As it stands now, I have to create a shape approximating the bitmap, then change the blending mode to get the proper color (pain in the butt)...

If I copy the original graphic with a gradient, color fill creates a solid colored object. If I change the blending mode of the new object on top to hue, I get a good result. I think I'll use this method from now on...

If I am in the wrong place will someone let me know where I

  • Adjust Color Filter

Why can't it be adjusted with actionscript like the others?
    If you can, how?!

No, but it seems to be the only way around..... can you give
me a simpler example of the colormatrixfilter that doesn't require
10 lines of useless code of making a new object?

Hmmm, I wonder if that window is hidden or off screen? Have you moved the pic window around to look under it?
    Might try this...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.bookmarks.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Adjusting color in part of an image in a photo.

Hi, just bought Photoshop CC and am stuck.  I just received a photo of my uncle that was taken through the glass of the frame it was in.  The right side of his face is lighter than the rest of his face.  How do I adjust this color? You can also see some lightening of the lower right portion of his hat. Other issues have been corrected.  Portion of photo attached.  Thanks.

Thank you so much.  I will give it a shot. Your help is greatly appreciated.  Will let you know how it works.

I cranked the filter to better see it, but you can reduce it to taste.7) There are other things you could try like painting with your brush in "Color" mode to fine-tune skin tones, or use the dodge and burn tools, etc.  https://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-7149917-723260/Multiply.png  If the reply above answers your question, please take a moment to mark this answer as correct by visiting: https://forums.adobe.com/message/7149917#7149917 and clicking ‘Correct’ below the answer Replies to this message go to everyone subscribed to this thread, not directly to the person who posted the message. • Can I adjust color channels individually?

In photoshop, if I have a photograph and want to select the color green, I get out my magic wand and select the color green. I can control the amount of selection by adjusting the wand settings.
Can i do anything like that in FCPro?
If I have video footage of a woman wearing a white dress standing in a field of grass (but the grass is a little too brown because it's almost winter here in Texas) can I just adjust the green channel of the grass and make it more green without affecting the green in the dress and skin of the woman?
I've been playing around with the 3 way color filter but it adjust everything on the screen. I just want to adjust certain items.
    Thanks!
    -Fraky

Photoshop has much better selection tools than FCP. You'll want to layer your clip and then put a mask over what you do not want to color. apply the rgb balance (I think there are some other channel filters but I'm not remembering and can't look at the moment) and then tweak away on the green channel.
for a bit more control, apply the 3 way and then finagle the limiter to what you want.

  • Does the Broadcast Colors filter work?  How to get a broadcast safe production?

    Hey guys ~
Have searched around a bit but haven't found much info on this subject.  One of my films just signed a distribution deal (go team) and I've been in the process of submitting my deliverables.  The company I've been assigned to for QC uses FCP7 for their preliminary check, and if that passes they send it on to a more rigorous test to ensure legal broadcast levels.
I'd like to keep everything in PP, but here's the deal.  I export my film with PP CC to a ProRes HQ file using the "Broadcast Colors" filter set to an IRE of 99 (just to be a touch on the safe side).  I was happy because I thought the final product looked even better and retained even more information than the Broadcast Safe filter in FCP. Only the catch is, when I import the final product from PP into FCP7 to see the results that they are going to see, there is a consistent "red" warning on contrasty shots... some are totally outside of the FCP7 broadcast safe scopes.
I've succumbed to jumping back to FCP7 to do the final on this just to make sure it will pass inspection, but I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with this? What's the correct way that I'm missing to use PP CC to make sure that you have a finished product that is safe to put on the airwaves?  Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
Thanks in advance for any help...

Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
I dont think it is flexible enough and never use it.
Simplest way is to apply Premiere 'Levels' effect.
You will note an "automatic" level clip at 100% and then its easy to set White RGB Out at say 250 and fix any Color Channel Luminance issue..the same way.
    Then of course..Blacks.
FWIW - I use an Adjustment Layer to do this usually across the entire sequence

  • What is the best way to compute the MD5 of a file from within a filesystem filter driver

    Greetings!
I am developing a filesystem filter driver that monitors file creations. My driver is based on the sample code "scanner" in the DDK. I need to calculate the MD5 of the file in the PostCreate stage. I am using
FltReadFile() to read the file where I have to read block by block - which I think is kinda inefficient. Is there a way to get the size of the file before I read ? That way I can allocate enough memory in advance and then read it in one shot.
I don't see a FltXxxx function to read the size of the file. How do I do it ?? (Or if there is a another way to calculate MD5 that would work too)
I also ran into another problem. For block by block reading, I use FltAllocatePoolAlignedWithTag/Free functions. I noticed that if I don't use the
same exact variable to Free the block I get bsod. For example I allocate a block using a variable pBlock and then add it to an array of pointers. Later on I Free the blocks with array[index] - then I get the BSOD. The bug check code is BAD_POOL_HEADER.
Any idea what is going on ? This is okay to do right ?
    Thanks
    ~B

FltQueryInformationFile will get you the size information.  On the BSOD it is likely you are passing the wrong pointer back, give us a !analyze -v of the crash dump, so we can start the process of debugging.  Run your driver with "Driver Verifier"
and enable special pool, to catch things.

  • Preview: Adjust Color greyed out for PDFs

Just scanned a bunch of pages as a PDF and opened it in Preview. The levels were off so I wanted to Adjust Color, but it was greyed out. Am I correct in assuming that this only works with image files, not PDFs?

A PDF file cannot be edited like a document file except using Adobe Acrobat. You can edit the original document, then create a new PDF. This is also true of image files if they have already been made into PDFs.

  • Adjust Color option not available in Preview?

We scanned in some documents recently and need to adjust their contrast. Unfortunately, the option for Tools>Adjust Color is grayed out/unavailable. Any idea why this would be the case? The documents were scanned in on a Canon MX850.
    Thanks.

Mine are all jpgs, i.e., photos scanned with an HP 4-in-1 scanner or photos taken with a Kodak digital camera, downloaded into EasyShare and saved as jpgs.
I'd always used Preview, prior to the Leopard upgrade, rather than HP PhotoSmart or the Kodak program for much of my editing because the "exposure" and the "sharpen image" features were much better and could often salvage an iffy photo, especially the old circa WW II sepia ones.

  • Adjust Color Curves... is disabled, why?

    Hello,
I've just downloaded a trial of PSE 9.  I'm evaluating whether or not this product will work for some coworkers with light image editing responsibilities.
With and image open, if I goto the Enhance menu, and select Adjust Color, the option for “Adjust Color Curves…” is disabled (greyed out).  Is this a feature locked in the trial, but available in the paid version of PSE?
    Thanks,
    Duffy

Make sure you have an image open in the editor and are not working with a 16 bit image. Otherwise click Image >>Mode
    Then change to 8 bit.
I just checked in PSE6 : the 'adjust color curves' works perfectly in 16 bits

  • Color filter for photos

Not sure if the discussion of third-party applications should go here, but I'm looking for a basic application that can take a .jpg photo and make it green. Anyone knows of such freeware?

Open the JPEG in Preview, select "Adjust Color" from the "Tools" menu, move the "Saturation" and "Tint" sliders all the way to the left, than use "Save As" from the "File" menu.
