Adjust colors caused clip to go to slow motion

I have a 4 minute clip in a file that is 30 gig. I didn't like the color of the clip so I used Adjust Colors in Video FX to change them. Now that clip is running at about 1/3 speed. How do I either fix this or undo the effect? Is that a major bug or what??? As it took nearly an hour to render, I made umpteen other changes to the project while it was rendering so just hitting undo is not an option.

Discovered that hitting delete removes the rendering. So now the question is, why does changing the color cause it to go into slo mo?

  • Poor clip quality after applying slow motion or stabilization

I am making a movie.  Every clip that I change to slow motion, or stabilize (or add both to), becomes blurry.  I finalized it & put it on dvd to see if it still blurry on the tv, and it is.  Anyone know how to fix these clips so I can get the original clip quality with the slow motion/stablilization?
    Thank you in advance

I am using PPro CC 7.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.8.5.  I'm working in software only renderer.  Just by applying a Three-Way Color Corrector or a Video Limiter (just applied, without any modifications... didn't test other filters), the photo quality is degraded.  The result is the same after exporting or rendering the sequence.  Tested in DVCPRO-HD and ProRes interlaced sequences, same result.
Here is a photo without any filter applied to it (on the left) and with a video limiter (right) :
On another editing station with CUDA enabled, the problem isn't there.  But not all our station are CUDA enabled, so I wish I could fix the problem.

  • Adjustment Layers causing clips to stutter Premiere Pro CC

I'm working on a music video and I have a 2:35 letterbox preset that I added to an adjustment layer. I added this to the adjustment layer and placed it over all the clips so I don't need to apply it to every single clip. Of course that's the way adjustment layers work. But on some parts of my timeline when the play head reaches certain clips it stutters or when it reaches a clip with a simple dip to black transition the clip stutters again. I know its the preset that I have applied to the adjustment layer because when I disable it or remove the adjustment layer or remove the effect from the adjustment layer the clips play fine without any issues. Can some one tell me why this is happening. My computer has more than enough power to handle this. I'm running a 8 core MacPro, SSD drive, 22gigs Ram and a ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card.

    Hi AzzieScott,
Thanks for the link. Please mention, the types of footage you have in your project. If possible, please mention the make and model of the camera if you have captured the footage.

  • After rendering clip is in slow motion

    Hi,
I've been using Gopro shots, which were converted to AVI with Cineform, following the CS 6 issue:
Sequence setting, and clip rate: 1280x720, 100fps, avi. after the rendering the clip takes place in slow motion on the timeline.
    Why is that?
If I use the same clip in the setting 1920x1080 60fps render remains the original speed, so it will not slow down.
    Thanks, Alex.

The pc can handle the yellow line, but not some of the cross fades.
The clip plays in normal speed after exporting the 1280x720, 100fps.
It only slows down on the timeline.
Any solution or idea what the problem is?
i put it in 60fps sequence because it doesnt slow down after rendering.

  • Slow motion lost after sync from mac to iphone

    Hi,
I can capture videos in slow motion but those videos play at normal speed once Sync them via iTunes.
    1. Capture videos in slow motion.
    2. The videos first play in slow motion in the iPhone. There is a time line slider to move the slo-mo effect back and forth.
    3. I do a back-up via iTunes including videos.
    4. After syncing, the videos in the iPhone appear in one album called "Slo-Mo".
    5. In the thumbnail of the video clip I can see the small dial icon that all other slow motion videos have.
    6. Playing the video shows a normal speed clip without the timeline slider under the video frames view.
The videos DO retain the slo-mo "effect" in Aperture and iPhoto also. Not in the iPhone after syncing.
Any hints to solve this?  thanks
    jp
    iPhone 6 iOS8

    Hi,
iOS 8.1 didn't fix the issue so here is my workaround to " show-off " my slow motion clips:
I have tried to open the clips with iMovie in the iPhone.  ( I guess not everyone has iMovie installed...?)
So, you can create a new project in iOS iMovie and import the clip you want. Slow motion clips preserve the little dial icon so you can see which ones have the slo-mo effect. It will preserve the slow-motion sections of the original clip and will play "slow".
If for some magical reason your clip doesn't play "slow" in iOS iMovie click on the small "tachometer" icon and select the desired speed.
So. iMovie does know the clip has enough frames to play in slow motion... why the camera app doesn't ?
    good luck,

  • Exporting to mpeg WITHOUT rendering Slow MOtion Effects  -Any loophole ???

I have made 2 clips in my timeline slow motion - 20%. In preview
mode when I play back in my timeline the effect looks slow and image
looks great. As soon as I render it - the images become in and out of focus
    and looks crummy.
Is there any way for me to export and keep this portion in preview mode
(so it does not render) ? It just looks much better when its not fully rendered...
    any loophole to this?

    Maybe.
Probably the reason you're getting the effect you're seeing in preview is that Motion is dropping frames to do RT. If you ctrl-click on your sequence and select "Settings...", go to the Render Control tab, and set Frame Rate: to say 50% of Sequence Editing Timebase, that might help you...

  • Quicktime goes to "slow motion"

    Hi all,
I recently switched to the iMac and can't quite deal with all the tweaks and quirks of it so I would love all the help I could get.
When I watch videos using quicktime (either from an external drive or from the Internet) the clip sometimes goes to "slow motion" and the audio disappears. Is there anything I can do to resolve it either in the settings of the quicktime or the Leopard?
I am using a 2.4GHz processor with 2GB RAM (as well as broadband) so I am baffled by the low performance.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tal

I have the identical machine listed in your profile.
Those QuickTime settings you mention are only for files served from streaming server software. Like the Macworld Keynote QuickTime file.
They make up less than one tenth of one percent of online videos.
The original poster must give us more information about the files. Post a URL or use the Movie Inspector window of QuickTime Player to tell us more about them.

  • Slow motion playback

I have a unusual question compared to some of them I have seen here, but here it goes:
My mother is a college basketball coach and needs to get some upgraded video equipment for use with recording games, practices and camps. They currently use VHS and then are able to tape and then playback the recording for the players right away. They have something called a "cowboy remote" that allows them to freeze frame, go slow motion both backwards and forwards to analyze plays and drills, as well as the player's shots and movements.
Will Final Cut allow them to do these things if they were to purchase it for their iMac or is it just a matter of finding a DVD player that will do these things on playback?
Is there a particular type of camera that would be needed in this situation?
    Thanks.

Yes, you can both view the footage within FCE in slow motion and edit it so that it always plays that way. If you edit it so that the actual clip is played in slow motion (and you're not just viewing it at a reduced speed) then it will also play that way when burned to a DVD.
Keep in mind that FCE has a relatively steep learning curve as well. Training books or internet tutorials are definitely recommended.

  • Applying Video Filters to Slow Motion Clips

Now I have done this before many times. Why is it when I apply a video filter to a clip( that is 50% speed already in my sequence) I can not see the video filter when I open up the effects tool to adjust the effect? For example when I put a glow effect on the clip and I adjust the brightness and I do not see anything happening it is as if the effect is not there. I know there is a simple solution to this

    Sure Tom,
I edited shots in my sequence, it is a montage of slow motion shots each around 1sec. long at 50% speed. I want to letterbox the shots and treat each with a filter. Strobe them or glow effect, etc. I am opening the effects window and dragging the filter icon onto the clip on my sequence. Then I double click the clip on my time line and open it in the viewer to adjust the filter. When I do this I can not see the filter effect. It's as if there is not an effect on the clip. Is it because I am trying to put a filter on a clip that is at 50% speed? Do I have to put it on the clip before I change the speed?

  • Slow motion and speedup during a single clip

Is there a way to take a single clip, and slow down portions of the clip, while speeding up other portions of the clip.
Is there a way to adjust playback speed using keyframes I guess is my basic question, so the start of the clip is slow motion, then the middle is played back at an accelerated or normal rate, then the end of the clip becomes slow motion again.
    -Roger

Yes, is the short answer. Using the time remapping feature in the "effects" panel (top center of the screen, second tab from the left) you can set certain portions of the clip to play back at normal speed, then slow it down in certain sections, and then speed it back up. You can also cut the clip using the razor tool (in the tools panel at bottom right of the screen) and just reduce the speed of that section of the clip. The downside to using the time remapping (if my memory serves me - don't take my word for it) is that you lose audio, but the transitions from normal to slow-mo and back are much smoother. Using the razor tool, you simply place the timeline indicator where you would like to begin the slow motion segment, then cut the clip with the razor tool, the repeat the process where you want the slow-mo section to end. Then, select the section that you want to play back in slow motion, and reduce the speed. This is the method that was used before the time remapping feature was available. The transitions are not at smooth, but you can keep audio for the sections where the speed isn't modified. Just be sure to select the "ripple edit" check box when you modify the speed/duration setting of the clip (right click the video clip to get the speed/duration setting dialog box).

  • HELP - Make video clip go in slow motion?

I can't seem how to make part of my video go in slow motion, I've tried looking for tutorials everywhere and it won't tell me how.
    Please help!!
    I use iMovie '11

Drag the clip that you want to adjust from the Event to a Project.
If it is already in the Project, start here.
There should be a small gear icon on the clip in the project. Click it to open the Clip Inspector.
Go to the Clip tab of the inspector. Here you can select your speed adjustment from 12.5% to 800% (I think).

  • Ripple edit on slow motion clip

If I have built a timeline and want to insert a clip then slow motion it, the whole thing ripple edits. If I make a new channel thats empty and do the same the whole thing ripple edits, I end up having to lock all my channels below then do it, is there a better way because it seems wrong and adds time to my job,
    regards
    daz

I don't think moving it up a track works, as you've found...and I don't believe it's a setting in FCP that can be changed.
You can move it to the end of the timeline and make the adjustment or as stated, do this in the viewer.
Another option is to create a 'Working' sequence and do it there. This is the way I do it, in case the timing doesn't work, you can quickly make adjustments in the alternate timeline.

  • "Gamma" slider in Preview's "Adjust Color" window now absent in 10.6. Why?

In Preview, if one chooses "Adjust Color" from the "Tools" menu, a small window pops up with various sliders allowing one to make minor adjustments to the jpeg -- contrast, sharpness, exposure, etc.
In previous versions of Preview that came with 10.4 etc., one of the sliders was called "Gamma," and I found it very useful. I'm no photographer nor a professional graphics person, so I couldn't even tell you the exact definition of what a "gamma adjustment" even is, but in my experience I found that it seemed to lighten the dark areas of the image without overly lightening the already-light areas. By fiddling with a combination of the "Contrast" slider and the "Gamma" slider, one could rescue a photo that was badly lit or unevenly exposed.
But in the new version of Preview that comes with my Snow Leopard 10.6.4, the "Gamma" slider has been removed entirely, replaced by the far-less-useful "Temperature" slider, which instead subtly adjusts the tint to appear warmer or colder (red/blue).
What happened to the "Gamma" adjuster? Is there any way to restore it, or customize the "Adjust Color" window?
    What a bummer.
I really like Preview's "Adjust Color" sliders, and find them to be much more convenient for basic photo sprucing up than the more complicated controls in PhotoShop and other pro-level programs. I realize I can adjust the Gamma in these fancier programs, but I'd much rather have all the needed adjustment-controls altogether in the same program.
Any suggestions? I don't want to have to try to re-install an ancient version of Preview just for this one feature.

    I did a Google search & found - http://earthlingsoft.net/ssp/blog/2009/08/macos_x6part2
"*Gamma: Apple (finally) changed the gamma value of their display calibration.* There goes the classic Mac look… well it’s not quite as (a) my MacBook’s screen is a crappy dithering **** anyway so I am in no position to notice anything and, more significant in a global sense, (b) the magic of colour management means that you shouldn’t see the difference caused by the gamma change on colour managed images. What remains are the UI elements and Apple seems to have done a reasonable job of making things look all right. Just some of my old icons seem to look a bit different now. In the long run I imagine this change may be beneficial for people who publish images on the web without knowing what they do. "

  • Preview: Adjust Color greyed out for PDFs

Just scanned a bunch of pages as a PDF and opened it in Preview. The levels were off so I wanted to Adjust Color, but it was greyed out. Am I correct in assuming that this only works with image files, not PDFs?

A PDF file cannot be edited like a document file except using Adobe Acrobat. You can edit the original document, then create a new PDF. This is also true of image files if they have already been made into PDFs.
