Adjust RF output power

I have a wrt54g router and want to lower the RF output power but I can't and I don't want to use the ddwrt. Has any new Linksys router this option available?

I think it is not possible with the linksys router. However you google around and check on the linksys website.

  • Adjust output power, Time Capsule

    Hello!
I’m almost ready to purchase the Time capsule, but one question needs to be answered.
Earlier, it was possible to adjust the transmit power using the airport tool from a MAC and/or IOS.
To my knowledge, this function is not possible with the latest version of the Airport tool
I have also read somewhere that adjusting the output power IS possible with the Airport tool for Windows. Can someone please confirm that this is possible?
Adjusting the output power is a must for us.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ole

    Just a (final) word:
This is what I sent to Apple:
Please add more options in the advanced setting in the airport utility, like the possibility to adjust the transmit power. Best to add separately adjustment for the 2,4GHz and the 5GHZ band since the later has less coverage and may need a higher transmit power settings.
From the former Airport utility user guide:
"Security for AirPort Networks in Businesses and Classrooms:
Businesses and schools need to restrict network communications to authorized users
and keep data safe from prying eyes. To meet this need, Apple wireless devices and
software provide a robust suite of security mechanisms. Use AirPort Utility to set up
    these advanced security features.
    Transmitter Power Control:
Because radio waves travel in all directions, they can extend outside the confines of a
specific building. The Transmit Power setting in AirPort Utility lets you adjust the
transmission range of your device’s network. Only users within the network vicinity
    have access to the network".
I think that Apple don't care much about security when they now has removed the possibility to adjust the transmitter power as well as other advanced settings.
And yes, I have no illusion that they will listen to me...
    Regards,
    Ole

  • Adjustable output power

The manual states that the North American version has 50mW maximum power.  Is this figure adjustable?  Or is the node setup to choose the least power required to successfully transmit?
    Thanks!
    Garrett

    Hey Garrett,
That value is not adjustabl.  The output power for the North American version is 17 dBm, and the International Version is 10 dBm.  Note that due to the lower transmit power, the International Version does not have as long range as the North American version.

  • SFP output power control

Hi, I can see from the spec of an SFP module it has a range of output power. How do i control that in the IOS or does it do it automatically based on rx power level?
I know there is 'show interface tranceiver' to show me whats happening but not sure how to set anything.
    Any help appreciated.

I agree with baileyshbr. One cannot generally control the SFP output (or sensitivity) via software. Optical platforms (e.g. ONS series) allow this, but that's one of the (many) reasons why they cost so much more than LAN switches.
If field measurements indicate you are outside of accepatable operating ranges, you either need to attenuate (using readily available optical atenuation patch cables) or increase launch power (using an optical amplifier or different launching optics).
You are correct that a given module's launch power should not have a 6 dB variability. It should actually vary within a much smaller range, due primarily to temperature of the components. So get some actual measurements of the ones) you install and then adjust accordingly if necessary.

  • MuVo2 (1,5G): Can I Use output power only (not install the battery) when I listen the mus

    Hi Sir:
When I am in home and listen the music on MuVo2 ,can I use output power only (AC power) and remove the battery ( the battery is not in the MuVo2)?
This is good to the MuVo2 or not ? (have any damange?)
Because I always use the MuVo2 in my home, I think to charge AC into the battery, and use it until in low battery , then charge again.. It seem to a little stupid....
Can I use AC(output power) only when I listen the music ? and remove the AC(output power) when I close/shut down the MuVo2 ? ( I know , the usermanual say it is not good to MuVo2 if AC(output power) "always on" the MuVo2 even it's shutdown.)
I saw in the usermanual there will be a little image indicate the MuVo2 is "output power only".... So can I use output power only or not ? Is it good to MuVo2?
    Thanks a lot !!
    ( Your product is great~!)

    Richard,
Yes, you can use the player on the AC outlet only if you want, that's fine.

  • How to reduce Hub 3 output POWER?

I use my laptop in the same room (~5m) as the router and wondered if there was a way of reducing the output power from the Hub 3 antenna, which has a range of ~40m?  I have two young children in the room and am concerned about wi-fi signal levels.  A colleague mentioned that he can reduce the output power of his APPLE router easily.  Is there a similar option for the Hub 3 BT product?  I realise that if I do not have the laptop switched on, i.e. no activity, then the power level drops automatically, which is a great feature.  Thanks,  Fred.

There is no facility to reduce power apart from the power save option which turns the WiFi off.
The maximum power allowed by WiFi is 100mW (100 milliwatts) which is very small. If you are concerned about WiFi, then it would be better to turn it off, and connect to your laptop using an Ethernet cable.
You can extend the Ethernet port of the hub by using Powerline adapters. Which use the mains wiring to carry the data.

  • WAP321-E-K9/max RF output power of 802.11a?

Does the WAP 321-E-K9 (as 5GHZ frequency) supports the 802.11a?
If yes, please specify exactly the output power transmission in dBm?
Is it possible to have the 5GHZ frequency that not support the 802.11a? Because in the technical sheet of the WAP 321-E-K9 there is no specifications about the output power transmission (dBm) of the 802.11a standards ( only 802.11b/n/g are specified) ?

    Hi commercial7,
    I hope this helps:
From the product documentation on the WAP321-E-K9 it appears that the WAP only supports 802.11b/g/n protocols. 802.11a (5GHz) is a legacy protocol that was outdated with the release of 802.11n (2.4/5GHz). While WAPs that use 802.11n are backwards compatible (support 802.11a/b/g devices), WAPs that use 802.11a won't support devices that use newer protocols.
    According to the WAP321 Wireless-N documentation, transmitted output power: 802.11n @ HT20HT40, MCS15: 13 dBm
Also according to the WAP321 Wireless-N documentation, receiver sensitivity: 802.11n: 300 Mbps @ -64 dBm. Since 802.11n should support 802.11a, you may want to check the hardware specifics for the 802.11a device you are trying to connect with.

    Hi,
This is Marcus from Application Engineering at National Instruments.  I have reviewed over your math and you are correct in your calculations.  To determine the power output of your PXI-5422 you will have to know the Vpp which you are using and also the load that you will be connecting to the device.  These factors will then determine the power output of your PXI-5422.

Just a quick question.  Today was migrated to 21CN.  When I was on the old 8Mb service I notice3d that the output power on the HH was usually between 16dBm and 17dBm, but since the migration to 21CN I notice that the output power is 0.0dBm, this is on the down, but on the up it is the same as before.  I have tried different HH's and still the same result.  What should the output power be?

  • How to reduce output power

    Hi guys,
I have a 2 yr old extreme base station. And I am using the most upadated aiport utility. I can't find the option to reduce the output power. Am i missing something? Or has apple decided to take that option away...
    Thansk for your help.

Unfortunately, Apple dropped a number of options and features when they "upgraded" AirPort Utility in the Lion operating system.
If you are still using OS X 10.7.4, fortunately you can download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion and use this version of the utility to get those features back.
Keep both AirPort Utility 6.1 and 5.6 on your Mac and use the one that you want.

  • Designing variable output power supply

    hi
could anyone  help me out in designing variable output power supply ?
as i am new to this please post the circuit and also the step by step procedures in developing the circuit.

    Hi rckz,
The link below has an example of a variable power supply.
    http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://howcircuits.com/downloads/circuits-and-diagrams/power-supp...
You can try to find the components in Multisim by right-clicking and going to Place Component. You can look through the database and place them on the schematic and then wire them as shown in the schematic.
    Hope this helps.
