Adjust Sharpness problem

Have recently had a new hard drive installed. Everything re-installed and working fine. But now in iPhoto when I attempt to adjust the sharpness of a photograph, it won't save it. The other adjusts seem to work fine, it's just the sharpness one. I can see the image sharpening in front of me but when I hit 'done' it goes "saving changes" and then reverts to the original image.
Any ideas?

If still needed, I was having that same problem today. I found a solution at: http://homepage.mac.com/jkevinwolfe/iphoto/files/archive-0.html
It works:
• Make sure the Sharpness slider is your last edit. (Other sliders can work against sharpness.)
• Before saving, press the number "2" key. This blows the image up to full size.
• Then scroll up or down on the image. You only have to move it a tiny bit. Now when you double-click on the image or press the Done button, your sharpness changes will now be saved.

I too experienced the same issue.  Here are my details:
Recently I bought a 15” Macbook Pro and last night I tried to connect and use a Edirol FA/66 Firewire 400 connected outboard audio interface using a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter then connected to a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter since the MBP doesn’t have a native Firewire port.  What I observed is that the Edirol was not getting power from the bus nor did the MBP (running Yosemite) recognize the Edriol.  At first I thought there was a problem with the Edirol since I haven’t used it in a while but when I connected it to an older MBP that has a native Firewire port, it worked normally.  Is there a known issue with these sorts of external audio interfaces working properly with newer MBP running Yosemite?  I’m hoping that a software update will fix this issue.

  • Photoshop Elements 6.0 / Editing using 'Adjust Sharpness'

After making the adjustments i.e., amount, radius, remove with Enhance>Adjust Sharpness and visually looking at the edits being applied to the image, when I then click OK, there's a few seconds of hesitation to apply the edits then the image will inexplicably convert back to be being unsharp instead of being visually sharp as it was during the adjustment. Why is the image not applying the sharpness changes as it does when I use 'Unsharp Mask'?
    Using Mac OS X 10.6.2.

    Barbara B>,
Appreciate, once again your quick response but my question now is where do I go to find / username>library>preferences? Is this in my Finder for my iMac or is this found in PSE? Did you mean to delete just 'Repair permissions' or all that was listed after your semicolon ?

  • Lightroom 5 Adjustment Brush Problem?

When I want to use my adjustment brush, I do not have the second circle show up to show where it has taken the adjustment from the photo. Is there a way to fix this? I was able to use it before and didn't have a problem. But I haven't used the program in a while. If anyone can help me with this that would be awesome.

When I am advising on weird adjustment brush problems I always say - Update your Mouse and Tablet drivers to the latest version.  Update your video card to the latest driver.  If neither of those fix it, then try resetting the preference file: Resetting (or 'Trashing') the Lightroom Preferences file - Lightroom Forums

Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, I have found that the Unsharp mask and Adjust sharpness tools

Sometimes at extreme settings they work, but at other times, they don't work at all.

  • Camera Raw v8.7.1 Adjustment Brush Problem

I’m using Adobe Bridge and my problem is in Adobe Camera Raw 8.7 and 8.7.1 itself. The Adjustment Brush cursor clicked position and the actual area that will be painted is not in the same area. As you can see the picture shown below, the actual painted area is being offset about one cm away from the cursor clicked position. Only the Adjustment Brush is affected. What's more, the cursor is larger than usual and the color changes to black instead of white. Hope someone can help to give a solution or hopefully Adobe can fix the problem.

Another user has the same issue, I recommend submitting a bug report. Re: Is this a bug or a flaw in my install?
You might try rolling back to 8.6 an see if that helps: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6

  • Adjustment Brush Problem

    Dear all,
I have problem with my lightroom application. The edited point after using adjustment brush didn't appeared after i locked the editing. Its hard to change the editing because the point not apeared and i cant controlmy editing after dat because of the point is not show in the image. Howevwer the problem is not appeared in the graduating filter or spot adjustment. How can i solved this..
    Thanks for your help

When brushing, holding down the Alt key will allow you to erase instead of adding to your brush selection. Holding down the Ctrl/Cmd key will put you in AutoMask mode if it’s not selected, or turn it off temporarily if it is. The two keys can be used together.
Also, to the right of the Effect selection (under Edit) is a little rectangle (two squares side by side) that switch between ‘basic’ and ‘advanced’ mode. By switching to advanced mode more than one effect (Exposure, Brightness, Saturation, etc.) can be added to the same selection. Having done multiple effects, switching back to basic mode will allow proportional adjustment of all of the effects made.

  • Adjustment Brush Problem in LR2.1

When I try to use the adjustment brush for any type of adjustment, all I get is a darkening overlay on my photo, as though I was drawing some kind of dirty grey quick mask. EG: soften skin - no change to the skin just a semi-transparent grey where I have brushed.
I am pretty new to using this brush, but I am pretty sure I have used it before without a problem. Have I changed some setting? I can use all the adjustments globally but cannot apply them with the brush.

    Robbie,
Hit the "O" key to turn the overlay off and on. Shift+O toggles between available overlay colors.

  • Preview Adjust Size Problem

I receive a PDF file which I print on my HP printer. In the past, in order to get the bottom to print completely, I used the Page setup and set the page to 95%--Now on leopard, that command is gone. Under the Tool Menu, there is an "adjust size" option, but it's greyed out for me. Any ideas?

Hey I am looking for an answer to a similar problem (so I'm not expert) but I think I might know something about your question:
If you look at this help page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8619.html
it shows how you can still access the page setup options. Basically just go file>print then click the arrow next to your printer and the scaling option might be hiding there?
Sorry if this doesn't help at all, I don't know why "page setup" is only sometimes an option. Ridiculous!

  • Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer problems

I posted earlier about having problems printing with new color laser printer and colors printing wrong.  It is not the printer, the printer prints perfect color from what I see on my screen (calibrated).    Have narrowed it down to a hue/saturation adjustment layer.  When I  open and print a scrapbook paper (brownish color jpg) with out doing anything to it,   it prints perfect color.   When I add an hue/saturation adjustment layer  (to change the color to blue)  then it won't print the right  color.  I have  checked "colorize" and unchecked "colorize" when adding  an adjustment  layer.  I have tried flattening the image and merging the layers before printing. I have unclipped the adjustment layer to the layer below.      It prints the wrong colors only when I add a hue/saturation layer
What am I missing?  This is driving me absolutely crazy!!!
    Thanks!

You could try Layer - Flatten just for the moment of printing (don't forget to undo it afterward).
Seems too basic a problem, though...  I more strongly suspect a color management problem.
Is there a difference in the way you're opening the file that prints well vs. the one that's a problem?  Or is this one and the same file?
    What is your document profile?
What do you have set in the Photoshop print dialog for color management?
What do you have set in the printer driver for color management?

  • Adjustment Layer problem (Premier Pro CC)

Whenever I add an adjustment layer on the top of a video and apply any effect to it, I don't see any created effect from the adjustment layer. The only way to fix this is to restart PP and the effect will be visible. But this is just annoying.
    Thanks any advance.
    Specs:
    Windows 7 on latest updates
Premier Pro CC on latest updates (v7.2.2)
I use GTX 780 (unclocked) but my CPU (i7 2600k) is overclocked (4.6ghz)
    16gb RAM (overclocked)
All of my other PC stuff are installed on latest drivers too

nevermind, it's Red Giant problem at thier end...

  • Adjustment Brush Problems in Lightroom

So the adjustment brush works mostly fine, but the problem I'm having is that I was making a background darker but didn't finish it - so I went back later and clicked on the pin to just keep going with it and it has slightly changed somehow so if I go over what i did before at all it's now a lighter color. Sorry for the run on sentence.
Usually if you go over something with the same setting it won't show anything. I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that I was working on this picture during a free trial which ended before I got to finish it. I then bought it later and used the number I was given to kind of revive it. All the pictures and histories were still there. And that's when the problem started. This seems to only be happening with pictures that I was editing before I bought it.
I tried updating it to 4.3 but that didn't help. I'm using a Mac. My camera is a Canon Rebel XS 1000D. Please help.

It depends on your settings if the AdjBrush will change areas that you have gone over before.
If you have set Density to 100% the first time, you won't see anything the second time if you don't change the other settings.
But when Density is to 50% each stroke will add 50% of density. if the Density is set at 25% each stroke will add 25%, etc.
You say: "Usually if you go over something with the same setting it won't show anything." That is so if your density was set to 100% the first time you used the AdjBrush.
And you say "so I went back later and clicked on the pin to just keep going with it and it has slightly changed somehow" - yes, that would be the case if you density was set to less than 100% the first time.
The settings for <Flow> also can have an effect the second time.
Flow: Controls the rate of application of the adjustment.
Density: Controls the amount of transparency in the stroke.

  • Adjustment tool problem

I have just bought Aperture 2 after using the free trial version. I have downloaded the new software but the adjustment tab doesnt work. when i click on the panel all the adjustment features are in grey. This is despite the fact that the simple adjustments and dodge and burn work. On the photo is the word 'loading' yet the icon isnt showing that the photo is loading..its as though it is stuck, yet i can still view different photos....i have tried downloading the application again but it didnt work...any ideas ??So basically the more complex adjustment i cannot access...

Strange. Quite a few of us have been having this problem with Aperture 2.1.4 since upgrading to Snow Leopard, which apparently you have not done.
What other details can you tell us? Are these digital camera images, or versions of master image? B/W or colour? Jpeg or RAW or some other format?
