Adjust start time of included video

Hi guys....pretty straight ahead question. How do you adjust the start point of a video dropped into a Motion Template? eg. I have 5 videos in pace and want to start one of them 30 seconds in as opposed to starting from the beginning

One way is to trim the left edge of the timeline track with the mouse (grab the left edge of the blue rectangle under the canvas and drag it right.)
Another is to position the playhead at the frame you want to start the clip playing and type the 'i' key (mark an "IN" point).
You can slide the trimmed video play range in time by dragging the blue rectangle under the canvas.

  • Adjust Date/Time of Imported Video

    I had to convert a couple of .MTS files to .MOV to bring them into Final Cut Pro X. I made this videos before I realized I needed to archive the file structure. I haven't been able to find the area in Final Cut that lets me adjust the date and time of a clip. All of my metadata is wrong because it is using the .MOV file creation date.
    Thanks!

  • How to retrieve media start time stamp on video clips

    Premiere Pro CS4 loses the time stamps on all my video clips in the project.  Is there a way to retrieve that data.
    This usually happens after a crash or freeze up and one has to revert to an auto-saved ppj file.

    Thanks for replying.
    Timestamp only means time information for media start.
    The time information was there for media start on all the clips as they
    were captured but when I had to restart the project and the clips were
    imported into a different project they disappeared.

  • Edit start time of video

    Is there a way to edit the start time of a video that's been imported to itunes? I've got clips from google video and metacafe in my library---would like some of them to start a minute or so "in" because that's when the parts I really like
    kick in. I've tried editing the start/finish times in the settings under the "Options" tab, but it doesn't seem to work with videos as it does for songs. Any tips?

  • Major Song Start Time Issue

    I bought a new song, and changed the start time to 1:08 seconds in because I don't like that part. However, after syncing to my ipod, if I play any other song it will start at 0:00, and then if I play the song with the adjusted start time it will start at 1:08, like it should. Now if I go back to the song I had played just before it, the start time of that song which should be 0:00 is 1:08. Which is obviously a huge problem. Now, this problem only happens if you start a new song while playing another song, once a song ends the problem is fixed. But you can go through multiple songs in a row which the start time should be 0:00 and they will all start at 1:08, after playing the one song with the adjusted start time.
    I've also been able to recreate this problem multiple times, and I cannot find a fix for it.

    I have the EXACT same problem. I called Apple support and they were absolutely useless. They just told me to ignore it and reset the start time of the problematic song back to 0:00. Which is totally beside the point. I'm going to try to make an appointment in person at the Apple store so they see what I'm talking about and precisely how annoying it is. Hopefully, they can diagnose the problem. Best of luck to all of you!

  • How do I adjust video clip and audio start times?

    I cant figure out how to adjust the start time of video clips and songs.  I want my music and video clips to start at different times. I am trying to have music and pictures start at the same time at the begining of the movie then transition into my videos at a specific time.   Also i am wondering if there is a way to combine the whole video and image segment into one block and be able to shift it up and down the timeline?  Does anyone know how to do this?  Thanks

    instead of adding music to the background, 'stick' the music-clip to your video clip => the music appears as a green bar, you can move, shorten etc as any other clip.

    not in iMovie.

  • Cannnot exit firefox, maximize or minimize without clearing history. Also cannot adjust desired time on videos such as fast foward, rewind or maximize screen.

    Firefox started acting weird like this two days ago. Like I said, videos are being made to be watched all the way from the start with no option to adjust desired time, as well as the top right X esc button on the firefox browser, maximize and minimize will not work as well until the history is cleared. I just reset firefox and it is still having the same complications. Also before, I was able to center click the mouse wheel to open new tabs and thus it is not working any more. All help is greatly appreciated.

  • Video start time

    Hello,
    i am using DIADem 2012. i want to sync my data and video togther.
    I have channel of type time and channel of values. the time channel start from: 20/01/2013 16:44:47.8560 to  20/01/2013 16:49:32.5540
    I succeeded to sync between data and video by offset correlation function that change each date to start from 01/01/0000 00:00:00.0000 and start video time 0.
    My question is can i program some how and tell the video start time to start from the first time of the time channel? without perform any math tasks.
    video.StartTime= first time of the time channel is seconds.
    *** there's a way to get total seconds of date?(assuming the start time is 01/01/0000 00:00:00.0000)
    thanks.

    Hello OzShimon,
    Check out the TTR and RTT functions in the help system, they do what you want (both ways, from time to numeric and from numeric to time).
    TTR Example:
    Dim SecSinceZero
    SecSinceZero = TTR("28/01/2013 01:22:00.8560","dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn:ss.dddd")
    If the data channel you're talking about is already loaded in the Data Portal, and if it already has a clock symbol to the left of it in the Data Portal, then all you need to do is change the display of the channel values.  DIAdem date/time channels are regular DBL channels that have a display property set to show the data differently in DIAdem (as a date/time string).  So you don't need to convert anything.  Look for the property "Display format" in the Data Portal and change it from "Time" to "Numeric".  You may have to force a refresh by clicking in VIEW, but that channel should immediately display as DBL values.
    You could simply substract the minimum channel value from the complete channel to get the time starting at 0 seconds.
    Assuming you have a channel called "Time" here is an example:
    Call Calculate("Ch(""[1]/Time"")=Ch(""[1]/Time"")-CMin(1)",NULL,NULL,"")
    The result of this would be a time channel that starts at 0 seconds, not at a date/time
    Hope that helps,

  • Is there a way to adjust the orientation for camera videos

    How can I adjust the orientation from a video taken with the camera?

    It appears that "saving" doesn't impact the quality, but wraps the file up in the .mov format (size and quality appear to stay the same). It worked ("saving" instead of using the save as a reference movie seems to fix the starting playback from the poster-frame issue). However, now a new issue has come up... I like to save the files to DVD as the original .avi so they will play on our Philips DVD players. However, being wrapped up in .mov means I have to have two versions of the file, and if my HDD ever dies or fills up I'll have to always correct the poster frame, and save another copy from the .avi original. Kind of frustrating... I wish Front Row/Quick Time would let you easily change the thumbnail and not have to change the format, etc.
    Thanks everyone for your help. Hopefully some of this feedback has helped others with similar questions.

  • What's up with this awful new calendar?  Cannot change start time!

    Ever since "upgrading" to Mavericks 10.9 I cannot change the start time on an event.  It's not clickable.  Only the end time is.  If I click the start time nothing happens.  If I click the end time I can adjust it easily.  What's up with this?

    If you give no time it will set to the default start time.
    Delete the entry and include your preferred start time.
    One short cut is the + in the upper left; include the date and time and event here.

  • Changing A Sequence Start Time To Zero

    I have had to cut an intro portion of a sequence and am now left with a 15-second gap at the beginning. I would like to set where the video starts to zero without 'Ripple Delete' because I have lots of timeline Encore markers that would not ripple with the footage. So, is it possible to go to any place in the timeline and set it to zero at that point?

    If you need the timecode to start at zero go to the sequence toolbar (top right of the sequence box) and set tour sequence start time to 23:59:45, your material will then start at 00:00:00:00, then, as Harm said, set the WAB to just include your film.

  • Adjust clip time & date...for real?

    Hello.
    A couple years back I had a HD fail and on it was a few GB of video that wasn't backed up (most of the 500+ GBs were backed up, but a few weren't as it was new video that hadn't gone through the weekly backup script) and thus, when I recovered the drive, the creation date on these videos were all wrong (as they were now the date the files were recovered and not the true creation dates).
    I know the dates these videos were shot though, so I used the "adjust clip time and date" option in iMovie to correct them. But, I didn't realize that iMovie didn't really correct the dates in the file, but rather must just reference a revised date somewhere within the program. Like I said, I didn't realize this...until this weekend when I moved (via iMovie) the 500+ GB of videos to a new, larger HD. Now, all of these videos have reverted back to the "creation date" with regards to the events they're now in, and when i inspect the files in Finder, I can see the creation dates are wrong (ie. they're the date they were recovered, not the date I corrected in iMovie).
    So, instead of wasting my time correcting again via iMovie, only to have to do it again and again and again every time I move my library locations, I'm wondering if anyone knows a program that can correct the timestamp on video files? I know there are programs that can do this for photos, but I'm unable to find one for dealing with videos?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

    It depends. If you have not already started using these clips in Projects, you can create a permanent date change by renaming the clips. This has the advantage that you can see the date and time metadata as you skim the clip in either the project or the event. But if you are already using these clips in projects, renaming them would cause you to get the yellow warning flag that the link to your clip has been lost. To do it this way, rename your clip as clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext where ext is the same as the current extension.
    If you need to keep the same name, A Better Finder Attributes is a good program for dating files. I have found an issue with Snow Leopard (last time I checked - may have been fixed). The issue is that Snow Leopard will not let you change the attributes illogically. I can't remember the specifics, but for example, the creation date cannot be before the drive was manufactured - that kind of thing. Snow Leopard will not let me date a file in the 1950's. It changes it back every time.

  • Can't change timecode start time

    Hi,
    I'm trying to change the timecode generator start time from 00:00:00:00 to 01:00:00:00. but the field can't be entered in the inspector.
    Please help.

    I also need to change the start timecode. (Compressor 3.0.2)
    I assume you are talking about the actual timecode and not the timecode filter that burns it visibly into the video.
    A similar function is available in DVDSP if you let it do the encoding for a DVD, but not Compressor.
    For those who may ask why it is needed, my closed captioning starts at 00:00:00:00, but my video timecode is at 00:59:59:00 for some reason. The captioning needs the numbers to match. DVDSP will adjust starting timecode for you, so I can make them match up, but I'm trying to make a m4v for podcasting in Compressor. ITunes and Quicktime now support Closed Captioning, but it has to be encoded in Compressor.
    If anyone finds a simple solution in Compressor, please post. I may have missed the setting somewhere.

  • Dynamic streaming taking too long time to switch video using NetStreamPlayOptions in AS3

    Hi,
         Can any one tell me why dynamic streaming taking too much time to switch video from lower bit rate to higher bit rate and vice versa.
    I am doing dynamic streaming in following ways -
    var param:NetStreamPlayOptions = new NetStreamPlayOptions();
    param.oldStreamName=oldStream();
    param.streamName=newStream()
    param.transition=NetStreamPlayTransitions.SWITCH;
    ns.play2(param);
    ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, switchMode);
    I am using duel buffering and that is 3 seconds when video starts and 10 seconds when "NetStream.Buffer.Full". Video taking approximately 30-50 seconds to switch video and when I am calling the above code.
    Thanks & regards
    Sunil Kumar

    Hi Sunil,
    Was my link useful to you? If you have not gone through the link which I suggested just go through the below lines it may help you:
    For a faster switch with optimal keyframe interval and client-side buffer, when Flash Media Server (FMS) receives a "switch" command, the server waits for a keyframe to switch to the new stream. FMS looks for the keyframes in the new stream in chunks equal to the client's buffer size(NetStream.bufferTime), so having a client buffer larger than the keyframe interval of the stream would help with a fast switch response time from the server—in other words, a shorter delay between a "switch" call to the server and the client receiving bits from the new stream in response.
    Following values are considered most optimal:
    Keyframe interval: 5 sec.
    Client-side buffer: 6–10 sec.
    So to maintain optimal keyframe interval you can go for fresh encoding of your videos which will give you a chance to set keyframe interval or if you dont want to do this then I would suggest you to increase the client-side buffer.
    Regards,
    Amit

  • HT4901 I have HughesNet with a capped amount of Internet capacity. How can I use iCloud but adjust the time it is on to conserve my Internet allowance and not have to backup my information all the time????

    I have HughesNet satellite for an ISP with a capped amount of Internet capacity. How can I use iCloud but adjust the time it is on to conserve my Internet allowance and not have to back up my information all the time?

    Thanks Roger W1,
    Yes, I was using iTunes to sync over cable without problems since orinigal purchase in 2011 and using 10.6 w/o problem. There was an "update" in Nov 2012 that crashed the sync service. I went to the Apple Store and reviewed the problem with the Geniuses there. It was discovered at that time that the update included mandated use of iCloud but enough of the un-updated code remained that he was able to patch functions to allow Microsoft Office to still sync over iTunes.
    This March (+/-) there was another "update" to 10.6 that totally destroyed the patch that was in place so there was no sync service available between Microsoft and iTunes what-so-ever. Then recently, because of some unknown process, all my notes, contacts, and calendars were erased in both my Apple utilities and Microsoft utilities.
    After many hours of frustration I was able to recover most of the information to the Apple utilities only, but those were unstable. At my visit to the Apple store it was suggested that an upgrade to 10.8 might solve the stability problem. That it did but being connected to the iCloud all the time keeps using up all my Internet time and I have nothing left to check emails or do research.
    This, to me, is not my problem but one created by Apple. I have searched the Internet and support groups and there doesn't seem to be a solution.
    The "aircraft mode" turns off all other communication functions and is not acceptable. Neither is disconnecting/turning off Airport on my MBP.
    Thanks,
    Jay
