Adjust Volume Across All Slides In Project

Captivate v5.5
Does anyone have any experience in working with the Audio/Edit/Adjust Volume option in Captivate v5.5?
I have created a project over a few days and the level of volume of some of the slides varies - some louder some not so loud and I now need to set the same audio level for all the slides.
I have tried the above option (for the project) but this makes no difference.
Can anyone help me with suggested settings for the above that will result in the same volume level for all slides?

My request for guidance was due to the fact I could not get the "Noramlise" option to work for my project's entire audio - and assumed I was doing something wrong.
In fact I dont think I was doing anything wrong...I think it is Captivate that is at fault!!!!
Here is the situation - in full.
Working in v5.5 I want to "normalise" the audio of all slides in a project.
I go: Audio/Edit/Project and get following:
(Keep in mind...I selected "Project").
Next I open "Adjust Volume"
Select "Normalise" and click OK....
The result was no change to my project audio - and that was why I contacted the forum.
Since then I have found out what would seem to be a bug or a design fault (same thing some would say)
Despite my selecting "Project"
You have to right click the audio and then "Select All" before the changes to the project's audio will work. Having selected "Project" I would have expected the audio for the project would have been selected - or at least a pop up to inform you to select all the audio before making changes.

Adjusting audio volume for all slides?

I can easily do this for one slide, but when I Shift-click to
select all slides, then apply Captivate's Audio / Edit Timing menu
option, the dialog shows me an Adjust Volume option that adjusts
the volume for all slides in the movie. But, when I adjust the

In the words of Yoda: Hmmm, seems a bug we have found!
So here is how to make it stick.
1. Click Audio > Edit timing... and you should see the
"Edit Audio Timing" dialog.
2. Click the Insert Silence toolbar button. This should
produce the "Insert Silence" dialog.
3. Change the "Insert" field so it reflects 0.001seconds of
silence.
This step is necessary to trick Captivate into accepting the
audio has indeed changed. I use 0.001 seconds as it is the minimum
you can insert and it should have absolutely no discernable effect
on your movie.
4. Now click the Adjust Volume button to see the "Adjust
Volume" dialog where you can alter the volume level as well as
boost dynamics and whatnot.
5. Make adjustments as desired.
6. Click OK to dismiss the Adjust Volume dialog.
7. Click OK to dismiss the Edit Audio Timing dialog
At this point, you should notice several progress indicators
as the audio clips for all slides with audio are adjusted to
reflect your new settings.
*NOTE: This will have no effect on Background Audio or Object
Level Audio. Those clips will need to be adjusted manually as a
separate process.

How-To: Place same guides across all slides of the presentation?

I want to set some guides for element positioning thru out the presentation. But it seems that Keynotes keeps the guides per slide. Is there a way to establish guides which will be visible across all slides of the presentation?

You can add guides to your master slides, then go to the View menu and select Guides > Show Master Guides in Keynote 6.0.
In Keynote '09 there isn't a Show Master Guides but as you move an object in your slide, the guide from the master slide will appear.

Is there a way to adjust volume across multiple clips or entire movie?

I am editing a lot of movies flying in ultralights. I want to keep the noise of the engine in the background, but I would like to lower the volume across the entire video. When there are 30+ clips it's very tedious to do one at a time when what I would like to do is apply the fix to the whole video. Is there a way?

Can't open all slides in project.

I've created a long project with 400 slides in Captivate 4 running Windows XP (4 GB RAM). After reopening, there are only 145 slides visible. However, the tooltip visible on the list of the recent projects shows there are 400 slides. How to open all the slides?

400 eh? That's only about 350 more than the typical recommended upper limit of 50-65.
Likely there won't be a way to open the rest. You can try the following:
Create a new blank project sized identically to the original. Then try importing segments into the new project.

TS1382 adjusting volume so all songs play at same volume

how do you adjust the volume on your ipod so that all songs play at the same volume.

Normalizing the Audio on ALL Slides at the Same Time

Adobe Captivate 7.
I want to normalize the volume on ALL slides in one operation. Right now I select Audio>Edit>Project. The audio editor comes up. BUT, when I select Adjust Volume>Normalize, it DOES NOT normalize anything until I select (by dragging the mouse across the wave form). This is tedious and takes forever, not to mention that it seems to "normalize" NOT. How can I simply tell Captive to normalize the whole project in one fell swoop? This is really what I would expect it to do, but it does not. Thanks for any help.

For that work flow I will always turn to a 'real' audio editor, in my case Audition. Did you try Audacity, which is free? Audio editing in Captivate is rather limited.
But to answer your question about selecting: use shortcut SHIFT-END to select the whole audio clip. I cannot help you with the 'normalizing' because I never do it in Captivate.

Hello,
It depends on your version. I hope you are on CP6 or later. In that case you have two possiblities:
a shape button on the main master slide (and be sure that all daughter master slides have the objects of the main master slide)
a shape button on the first slide, timed for the rest of the project.

Captivate 7. How can I distribute audio across all of the slides?

New to Captivate. When I recorded the audio, I did not know to record it to all of the slides. all the audio is on the first slide. How can I distribute it across all of the video slides?

@parth vyas ??? Why do you recommend to record/import this as background audio? I suppose the user wants to distribute the audio over slides, and to control how much audio on each slide, placing the slide markers where he wants? No such control is possible with background audio, which is just meant as... background.

So you choose to record to one slide which means that the slide will have a duration that corresponds with the length of the recorded audio clip. And you now want to distribute it over more sides? Is that a correct interpretation of your question?
One possibility is Audio, Edit, Project. In the editing dialog box, zoom out so that you see the entire audio clip. At its end you'll see a marker with a flag Slide 2 (yellow), which you can drag to the left, and then the audio will be partially on the second slide. At the new end you'll have the marker with flag Slide 3...
Second possibility: the audio clip will be in the Library. You can delete the audio on the first slide (Audio accordion), shorten slide to its wanted duration; then import the audio clip from the Library and you'll get a dialog box that has the option to distribute the audio over slides.
Third possibility: if you have the creative cloud or CS6, you'll have the roundtripping functionality with Audition CS6 or CC if you choose that option in the Edit Audio (Project) dialog box, and you can drag the slide markers in Audition.

Would have been easier if you did this before creating the slides (Preferences, Defaults).
For existing slides:
Activate filmstrip
Use CTRL-A to select all slides
In Properties Panel change time to 5 secs

Hello Kris,
Could you explain a little bit more, and tell us which version of CP you are using? P.e. are you talking about the situation when reviewing a Quiz, or are you referring to the Success caption during the quiz?

How to remove all slide notes in a project at once

Cannot use keyboard shortcut to adjust volume in iTunes

Before version 10.2, I could use the Command Up/Down combo to adjust the volume in iTunes. As of 10.2.1, I can use Command Up, but when I use Command Down, it does not control the slider, it moves my library selection from Music to Movies, Podcasts, etc. as if I was just pressing the Down arrow. How can this be fixed?

I noticed that my volume was really low in itunes even though the keyboard volume was up all the way and the volume slider in itunes was up all the way too.
So, I went into System Preferences and reset the volume from the slider in there.
I shudder to think how that got as low as it was set, because I didn't do it.
Thats when I realized I can no longer control the volume of itunes from my keyboard or the menu icon.
I can however adjust it in itunes.
But were's the fun in that?
None of the remedies I have read about so far have worked.
What next?

Background image from one slide appearing in all slides after and I can't remove it

Hello,
I'm modifying a course created with Captivate 5, in Captivate 7 and for some reason the background image from slide 35 is appearing in all slides after that one and I can't remove it. The most interesting thing is that when you look at the slides in the film strip they look different (like the original) than the one on the work area which contains the background image I'm trying to remove (screenshot below).
Any ideas or comments?
