Adjusting Hue/Saturation for selected parts of image?

1. Is there a way to adjust the hue/saturation for the Reds, greens or Blues in an image like you can in PS?
2. Is there a way to make a selection and adjust the Hue/Saturation for just that selected part of the image?

the problem with removing offending sounds is that you will usually notice the drop out of room tone. In this case, find a clean piece of audio and use that to replace the offensive sound.
This is VERY easy to do in soundtrack pro.
If you are intimidated by the pen tool, you can blade the clip in the timeline and adjust levels on individual sections and add dissolves to make the adjustment gradual.
There are many ways to skin this cat including real time "automation."

Image Adjustment Hue/Saturation questions

I have a picture of a car that I selected, that was originally red, and I am using Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation to change its color. The slider shows specific colors beneath it, such as blue, though that is not the color that the car color is changing to.
1.) Is it not changing to that color because I am selecting a blue hue, though after mixing with the red color of the car it becomes a new color?
2.) Is there any reason to feather the selection I made to the car prior to changing its color? Does this affect it at all?
3.) Are there any other tips for making the image appear better when doing something like this?

Sorry, I am using CS5
1.) I was doing the Hue change previously to the "Master" in the drop-down and it seemed to change the color the same way as it is with the drop-down set to "Reds." What is the difference?
2.) If the 2 points in the middle are the ones that determine which range of colors get affected, what are the outer 2 points determining?
3.) "The first bar shows the colors as they appear originally." Is the first color bar showing a spectrum of all colors in the image? Because there are lots of colors in that bar, and the car I selected is just red, so I would think it would just show red if it was only colors in the selected image.

Gaussian blur and Colour Adjust Hue/Saturation cause freeze-up

After using PS Elements 9 for a year, it has started to give me problems, and I can't find a fix for it online. Choosing Gaussian Blur, or Color - Adjust Hue/Saturation causes PSE 9 to freeze up and stop responding. This just started today, and I'm baffled. Some of the other filters have stopped working, but they don't cause a freeze-up. I've done a disk clean and defrag, but I haven't done anything different to my computer in a long time. I can try to uninstall/reinstall, but I'd rather not if there's a simpler solution. I'm on a Toshiba Satelite Notebook, i5 processor, 64-Bit OS Windows Home Premium. I'd appreciate any insight into this issue.

The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (in Program Files x86\Adobe)
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
Click on Yes
Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.

Options when adjusting hue/saturation

Using a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer:
1. Do you ideally want to go through and adjust Reds, Yellows, greens, Cyans, Magentas individually? Are final results not as good if you just adjust the Master by itself?
2. Looking at my imgage, I do not see any blues, however, when I adjust the hue slide while having blue selected, I see some slight changes to my image. I'm guessing that this means that there are some slight blues in the image.
Would you just leave the blues alone in a situation like this, or is there some graph that you use to make changes even if you do not see the colors in the actual image?

CS5 - Applying Actions to Select Part of Image

Hello,
I'm working in CS5. I'm new to actions and I would like to apply the action only to a specific part of the image. For example, for a portrait, I would like the action to apply to the background of the image, not necessary on the individuals face.
I'm not aware if there is a way to apply it to the entire image, then erase it from the areas I don't want it to apply, or if I lasso an area and apply it. I've tried it several different ways to no avail.

As the differentiation of fore- and background of an image can be a convoluted issue (have you ever tried to clip the image of a curly-haired person from a background of shrubbery?), it does not lend itself to automation easily.
I'm not aware if there is a way to apply it to the entire image, then erase it from the areas I don't want it to apply
If you work with Adjustment Layers or Layer Masks in general the Masks can subsequently be edited easily.

what im doing here is adding an event listener from my
embedded swf (4 parents deep).
then setting a var(myFlex:Object) to the
movieclip.parent.parent.parent which would be the flex movieclip
then actually grabbing that var "prog" to figure out what

i know there are definitely better ways to do this but it
works for me. i have used the external interface class and local
connection class but this works pretty well for me. im currently
using the external interface with the yahoo maps api and it works
really well but im having trouble using more than one external
interface instance in the same app....so i went this route.

Select part of image

Hi all,
I�m programming a Swing-GUI with serveral different Panel.
I want to be able to select an area within a ScollPanel I�m drawing a
rectangle using MouseListenerEvents and the draw-method, which I
implemented in an inner class.
My problem is, that I�m able to draw the rectangle over the whole GUI,
and not just the one ScrollPanel.
Does any of you have an idea, what I�m doing wrong? Any hints or
solutions are

you can use quick selection tool,select the part of the image you want and then simply create a mask on that layer .

Using Hue Saturation to change color of shirt not working

In CS5, I tried to make a selection of a white shirt and used Image > Adjustment >Hue Saturation, though when I drag the Hue slider, nothing happens, only a little bit of pixels of color change. Why is this.

1. So this is simply the wrong tool to change the color?
Are you familiar with the geometric representation for the HSB- or LCH-model?
The straight line connecting white and black is the axis that’s totally neutral, so changing the Hue or the Saturation/Chroma has no effect on points located thereon.
You can still use Hue/Saturation to colorize neutrals by checking the Colorize-box.
Or create a Solid Color Layer of the intended color and set it to Blend Mode Color and use a Curves Adjustment Layer to adjust the Luminance below that.

Hue/Saturation of one Layer?

Is that possible? I don't want the hue to change the entire image and what I'm trying to change is glowing text so selecting it is kinda out of the question. The text is on it's own layer though can I just adjust the color of that layer?

If it's rasterized, directly change the pixels by selecting that layer, then just running Image - Adjust - Hue/Saturation...

Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Hue / Saturation, and check the box that clips the adjustment layer to just the one layer beneath it:

If it's just the color of the text itself you want to change, select that layer then choose the Text Tool. You can change the color of the text by adjusting the color in the options area at the top of the Photoshop main window.

Basic Hue Saturation Question

Using Image > Adjustment > Hue Saturation
I notice there are reds on both ends of the spectrum. How do you decide which to use?

Consider the band as the cut and straightened representation of a radial gradient.
So the exact extremes on either side are the same; +180˚ and -180˚ on a circle describe the same point.

Hue Saturation Dialog Box

Since a day or two, when I go under Enhance > Adjust Color > Adjust Hue/Saturation : the color picker is activated instead of the dialog box. I can only leave the color picker by pressing the ESC-button. I still can adjustHue and Saturation using an adjustment layer. Does anyone have any idea whether some setting has caused this change ?
I use PSE 9 on a MacBook Air. All updates installed.

Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
Repair permissions and try again. If you're using lion, that library is hidden. To see it, in the Finder click the Go menu and hold down the option key. It will appear below the little house for your user account. Also, if using lion, while you're in there, go to Saved Application States and delete the one(s) for PSE 9.

Hue/Saturation not working?

I am working on a digital painting that was initially and grayscale, and I'm coloring it using hue/saturation, level, color balance, etc. adjustments. Until yesterday, this approach worked well, but when I go to adjust hue/saturation on any given layer it doesn't have any effect. This problem is not isolated to these works-- I also can't adjust it on other images including photographs. Can anyone help? I am in photoshop CS2 and in RGB mode, if that helps.

Hue/Saturation color channel control in P Pro?

After Effects has a Hue/Saturation effect that allows users to adjust hue/saturation within a pre-defined or user-defined color channel range. Is there a way in P Pro to do that?

5.5 has color balance HLS preset in the effects tab, you should find that better.
RGB curves may also work better with your color caste.
It is often a case of using different correction effects or even multiple one.
You can also try the Fast Color correction preset, move the centre point directly away from the yellow which in your case is towards the 18 minute point if the dial is 60 minutes.

Adding to the selection of a current hue/saturation adjustment layer?

I made a selection on a car, used a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to change that selected color, though I went and used the Magic Wand to add more to my selection and that new part of the selection is not affected by the previous Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. How is this done? Do I have to make a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer for the added selection Using Cs5.

There's selection of the color range the Hue/Saturation layer will work on. That's controlled by the little sliders that appear when you choose, for example, "Reds". You can do things like widen or narrow the range of colors included, as well as widen or narrow the ramps defining how much that colors near the edges of the ranges will be affected.
There's also the possibility that you defined a layer mask when making the Hue/Saturation layer, which will define which pixels in the image will be affected. If so, you need to click on the layer mask in the Layers panel and paint on it (white to choose which parts the Hue/Saturation layer will work on, black to choose which parts not to work on). You can, of course, paint grayscale on the layer mask to have certain pixels partially affected.
