Adjusting image sharpness and blur

Is your monitor calibrated for a start.
I use the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Pro application that came with my Pixma 9000 Pro, and it gets it right every time, and I never have to worry about Photoshop's colour management.   You might already have it installed - look in File > Automate

I have installed Adobe Illustrator CS 4 . I have two types of effects in this menu.
    1. Illustrator Effects
    2. Photoshop Effects
I see this option Unsharp Mask Effect menu ,Photoshop effects category under Sharpen Sub Menu.
My question is is Adobe Illustrator CS4 equipped with the Photoshop effects also?

  • IPhoto 11  slideshow mode decreases the image sharpness and quality

The images that weight over 5 MB and are fine and sharp become somewhat blured when displayed in the iPhoto '11 slideshow mode. The loss of image sharpness is just too big. The pictures look like they were made with a 100$ camera or even worse. I know the images are fine and big enough. I used picasa slideshow mode just to check. I saw a much better image quality and no noticable lose of sharpness.
Anyone has an idea why the iPhoto 11 slideshow mode looses so much image sharpness?

We all like iPhoto and its ease of use, good looks and fancy features.
However Aplle must concentrate on the core .... sufficient quality of the displayed images. The colors, sharpness, tones - the essence of photography
I understand that iPhoto is not the Aperture. But if the Slide Show mode virtually washes the sharpness away from the pictures than something is not right! Picture that is not sharp is worth the trash
If picasa slide show can do it I am sure iPhoto slide show can do it even better! We are waiting for the upgrade

  • Aperture 2: malfunction when adjusting image date and time

    Hello,
When I'm adjusting date and time for a group of images the following malfunction occurs:
The time is shifted by the difference between first and last image into the past, if the first image is the active one and into the future, if the last image is the active one.
    E.g.:
    Original: 23.02.08-12:00:00, 23.02.08 - 12:02:00, 23.02.08 - 12:05:00
Correction of first image to 20.02.08 - 12:00:00
    Result: 20.02.08 - 11:55:00, 20.02.08 - 11:57:00, 20.02.08 - 12:00:00
    Original: 23.02.08-12:00:00, 23.02.08 - 12:02:00, 23.02.08 - 12:05:00
Correction of last image to 20.02.08 - 12:00:00
    Result: 20.02.08 - 12:05:00, 20.02.08 - 12:07:00, 20.02.08 - 12:10:00

  • Adjust image width and position along with browser size automatically.

Hi,  I'm trying to place an image at the left edge of browser window, and the image width is 50% of the browser window size. The similar effect can be found on this website. Lenzing Instruments
Notice that as the browser zoom out, the image remains half of the width of browser window and align with the right edge of the browser.
I'm new to Muse. Not sure if it is possible to achieve this effect in Muse. I know Muse can set image 100% width of browser window, but how about 50%, 75% and other user defined proportion?
    Any help will be appreciated!

Thank you for your reply Sanjit. Could you explain more in details about
Exact responsiveness cannot be achieved but yes with scroll and pin you can create a similar effect
I also followed this post Can you create responsive sites with Adobe Muse? It seems that Muse does not support responsive design very well. So I'm not sure how exactly to get an similar responsive design effect in Muse.
    Thanks!

  • How do I save a photo after I have zoomed in on it?  I want to save the zoom-in as a new photo and can't work out why this doesn't work the same way saving a cropped image, or adjusted image does.  Thank you.

How do I save an image after I have zoomed in on it?  I can't work out why I can't save a zoom-in the same way
I can save a cropped image or an adjusted image. Thanks, Lily A.

Hi Matt, thanks for your reply.  Have realised that Zoom in Iphoto is just  a viewing tool and not an editing tool.
Was creating beautiful abstractions by zooming in and wanted to create a new image of the result.   Have since discovered that cropping after zooming takes me a little way to where I want to go but it isn't the same effect.  Will perhaps have to try to create it when actually shooting.  Am doing a photoshop course in February and maybe will learn a bit more then, too.  Am pretty much an amateur just finding my way.
    Thanks again,
    Best, Lily

  • Bridge Preview quality is not sharp and is blurred compared to PSE win

I've been using a Mac for a couple of years but to date have been running PSE 4 on Windows but I migrated this to my Mac so have been running under VMWare Fusion.  This has been working great and allowed me to get up to speed with Macs gradually.
Now that PSE 8 for Mac is out, I thought I'd give this a try and bite the bullet and swap over to running PSE on the Mac. So now I see that I need to use Adobe Bridge CS4 to manage my photos, keywords, collections etc, as see that there's no 'catalog' in the Bridge - no big deal.
Previously I use 'PSE 4 Win' to run a full screen slide show and sometimes connect my Mac to my plasma TV via PC VGA connector.  I was always amazed at the quality of the photos on both Mac full screen and TV.
Now I getting to know Bridge slowly and love the PSE 8 for Mac, however the Full Screen Preview (or Slideshow) quality initially looks acceptable but on closer inspection and directly comparing the rendering in 'PSE4 Win' with 'Bridge MAC' the latter is more blurred on the edges and the colors look more natural in the PSE4 Win.
I have tried right clicking the photo and 'Purge cache for selection' and looked through Preferences and did try enabling software rendering, and re-started but no difference.  So now I love the new software but can't ignore the poor quality rendering.  PSE8 on the Mac the quality looks better than Brdige (although colors still not that natural), AFAIK know PSE8 Mac can't be used as a full screen slideshow (I can't even find a full screen option)
I running a MacBook Pro new Aluminium for Nov 2008. So just to restate both apps are Mac and Windows are running on same Macbook.
I have attached screen grabs from both (look at the edges of grass where it meets water)  - these are at fit to screen resolution (which is what I'd use for a slideshow or full screen peview).
    The photo is a JPEG 4.03 MB, 3840 x 2160 , res 72 ppi,  application: Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0.

Thanks for the reply, setting 'monitor size previews' has helped a great deal with the sharpness (surprised this isn't the default!)
Colours are still a little different - difficult to tell which is most realistic.
I have attached a new full screen preview.
As an aside, in desparation I did try out some of photo viewing software on Mac platform in comparison.  Adobe Lightroom 2, Aperture, and Picasa all render fairly simarily, however XNView renders very close to PSE4 on Windows platform - in terms of sharpness and colours.  I quite like the Bridge interface so I think, I'll stick with Bridge.

  • I use images for presentations. Recently I've noticed a decrease in quality ( sharpness and definition) of pictures copied into Keynote. Same problem with both JPEGs and TIFF files. I've recently upgraded to keynote 09, but with no improvement.

I use images of paintings for presentations. Over the last 3 months or so I've noticed that I cannt copy images (either JPEg or TIFF) without a reduction in sharpness and definition. Hope someone can help with this problem.

Figured it out myself! yay!  (only took my entire moring)
    The solution:
    Dont print to PDF!
SAVE AS COPY, then select Adobe PDF and click SAVE, this will bring up a dialog box with the options you need (including the "High Quality Print" Adobe PDF Preset)
This was not clear in any of the instructions i read

  • Images not appearing sharp and with posterization

Some RAW CR2 images taken with Canon EOS 1D Mk11 appear perfect when viewed in the Canon software. I can then save them as TIFFS from this software but cannot manipulate them in it. When the same RAW images are opened in Photoshop CS3, they appear un sharp and in one case there is posterization around a bright light - something that does not happen in the Canon software. Any ideas???
    Thank you

    Sharpness -
I would guess that the Canon software is showing you the image with an unreasonably high amount of sharpening applied. Their defaults are not good, you should reset them if you're going to use the Canon converter.
    Posterization -
What you're seeing in Camera Raw is an artifact that's unique to that converter. It is the one reason I still use Capture One for images that have level 255 transitions. The Canon converter handles those transitions smoothly as well.

  • Images 1-19 sharp and clear, images 20-138 fuzzy and pixelly ??????

I printed out a book I am working on yesterday - 138 pages. There is an image on every page. From page 1 to 19 the images are crisp and sharp and look to be the correct 300 dpi. From 20 to 138 the images are blurry and pixelly and look to be 72 dpi or less. I looked at the PhotoShop files and they are 300 dpi and I tried placing another one and it still is fuzzy.
I am assuming that I must have accidently changed a setting. Does anyone have a guess as to which one it could be? Thanks.
    Loretta

    Hmmmm.
I am using CS version 3.0.
Links panel shows no links 20-138.
    Also no Effective resolution.
So I guess that for whatever reason they are not actually linked. I don't know why I could place them and see them but they are not really there.
I will try and re-place these this afternoon. I've been doing this for 2 years and this has never happened. Oh well.
    Thanks,
    Loretta

  • TS4436 hi, when zooming in to capture still images, the image is really blurred and out of focus. is this a hardware issue and is there any solution for this?? or is my device faulty?

hi, when zooming in to capture still images, the image is really blurred and out of focus. is this a hardware issue and is there any solution for this?? or is my device faulty?

If you are using the iPhone camera zoom then remember that this is a digital zoom not an optical zoom. The zoomed in area will have fewer pixels and not appear as clear. The more you zoom the worse it gets. It's like cropping a picture after it has been taken.

  • Sharpness and image clarity less on Tecra A10-11L - (for wallpapers)

    Hi all,
My display does'nt show images in true depth and colour and the images appear some what blurred in certain areas.
Windows help suggests that the screen refresh rate should be 75 hz. But my settings dialog box has only 60 hz in the selection box.
Is it because of an older display driver? My operating system is Windows Vista business. Looking forward for your kind support.

    Hi
Many images or pictures which are used for desktop background are stretched because the resolution and the image width and length are to small for the full background.
In such case the picture can be blurred.
For example; the display resolution is 1024x768 and the picture supports a resolution of 400x200.
In such case the picture would be stretched to 1024x768.
So you should always ensure that you are using picture where the resolution is good enough for the desktop background.
