Adjusting margins in Reader

Hello all, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
I'm trying to print a PDF of a document which original I don't have.  The document already has a significant margin, and Reader is adding 25 Milimeters.
If I were to print it straight, I would select "Scale to printing area" from "Page scale", at the print menu.  The thing is I have to print it at two pages per sheet, and cannot select both because there's no "Print multiple pages AND scale to printing area", it's one or the other.  So what I want is to reduce the margin Reader adds to the document.
The problem is I cannot get the margin size to be editable, the boxes are greyed out.
So, I have two questions:
1st-  How can I edit these values?  Are they set in some .INI file?  Which one, and where can I find it?  Are they set in the registry?  Where?
2nd-  Why are these values shown if you can't edit them?  What's the point?  How can be possible that a company as important as Adobe can make such a mistake in a soft as important as Reader?  Why would they do that?  I just can't believe it.
Thank you all!

Hello.  Thank you very much for taking the time.
You can't change these values because they are irrelevant - they are not used for anything at all.
I believe they're.  In fact, it's 25 millimeters that are added to the page.  If you choose the "Fit to printing area" option, these spaces are removed (up to the printing area, of course).  But if you choose that option, you cannot choose the "Print multiple pages".  I might want (I do, in fact) to print multiple pages fitting them to the printing area.  It's funny they didn't think about that.
They are shown because this is a standard part of Windows, provided by Microsoft for all apps to use.
I don't think that's correct.  If you are a programmer, you know that when you create a form (like the one in the picture I took from this forum) it's you who decide which controls to include, not Microsoft or Apple.  If you put those text boxes and fill them with a value, you put them for a reason (nor Microsoft or Apple force you to) and most likely you relate them to a numeric variable that can be accessed (and changed) somehow from somewhere.
PDF files don't have a margin in the way a Word document does. They are more like a JPEG. There might be some white space at the edge of a page, where no words or pictures are. You see this as a margin.
I'm sorry, but it is a margin.  That's the concept of a margin: A white space between the contents of the page and the border of the sheet.
Adobe Photoshop also adds them when you print a picture, and you can manage the size of those... sorry: margins.
You can't adjust this white space (except, in Acrobat, by cropping it smaller - making the page smaller rather than the margin).
But then the margin stays the same, what changes is the white space inside the JPEG, to use your words.
(I know that doesn't solve the rest of it).
Nope, but thank you again for your answer.
Even if greyed out, those values are not there just because.  They're set somewhere... in an INI file, in the Registry... I don't know... somewhere.  Windows doesn't make them up, even if it puts them there.  What I really need to know is where, but maybe it's not likely that a discussion like that would be allowed in this forum (companies don't like people messing around with the INI files or the Registry keys and values).  It's just I didn't find it anywhere else and though I had nothing to lose.

  • Cannot adjust margins in Acrobat Reader X

    Hi,
I cannot adjust margins in Acrobat Reader X. Margins are greyed out. I cannot find where to change this. Everytime we print a document it is shrinked because of the margins. A workaround for the moment is to print the documents as pictures. Is there any way to reset margins to 0?

Thanks David. It removed the margins, but it compresses the font in the print. When printing as "picture" the output is as expected. Attached two pictures. I know they are a little fuzzy. But it should be possible to see what happening to the text. It gets compressed in some way. BTW, it is no problem with Adobe Reader 9.

  • Printing 4 slides on a page -- adjusting margin

    Hi,
I am using Keynote 3. I print out slides for handout by using Layout and set number of page per sheet to 4 and using landscape mode. So far everything is fine...but each slide on a page is a bit small. Is there a way to make the slide bigger...there is a lot of available white space between slides and between slides and margins. Thanks.

hello there ... this reply is a bit late, but I just had the same problem you were describing and figured out how to solve it, so I thought I would let you know. The way to adjust margins in Keynote is
    1. go to File>Page Setup
    2. in the paper size menu, choose custom size
    3. create a new Paper Size with a name like "Handout Size" or something
    4. in the printer margins, choose user defined and set all the margins to zero, or any other appropriate values for you ...
This should make the slides fill up the empty spaces. Hope it helps.

  • I am experiencing difficulties opening some web-based PDF files on my iPad. I was having the same difficulty opening the same PDFs on my iMac (after I upgrade to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in settings.

I am experiencing difficulty opening some web-based PDF documents on my iPad. I had exactly the same difficulty on my iMac (after I upgraded to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in security settings in Safari (in OSX).
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to similarity adjust the security settings in Safari in iOS 8.
The message I get when I attempt to open the PDF (on my iPad) is as follows:
"To view the full contents of this document you need a later version of PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from ..."
Needless to say this is unhelpful for two reasons:
    - I have the very latest version of Adobe Reader; and
    - in iOS Adobe Reader is not a plug-in and plays absolutely no role in opening web-based PDF documents.
If anyone has experienced this difficulty and has been able to overcome it I would be most appreciative to hear of you solution.
    Cheers

  • Adjusting margins on the left?

    Hi,
I need to adjust the margin on the left hand side of the page to 2.2cm. Is there a way to do this?
    Regards,
    Jeremy

FormsCentral does not have a page setup in which you can adjust the margins.  You can try changing the field label location to see if that helps, but there is no precision control that sets page margins.

  • Adjust margins on greeting card

When I select single fold greeting card from the print menu and print a card, the image is always forced to the top of the card at the fold - ie, there are white margins at the sides and bottom of the image, but none at the top. It would be nice to center the image on the card. I've looked through the print and print setup menus, but can't identify any way to adjust print margins.

Limnidytis, try creating your own custom size.
In iPhoto, select Page Setup. Under Paper Size, choose 'Manage Custom Sizes...'.
Click on the + button to create a new custom set, name it, and set the margins that you want. You may need to play with it a few times to find the right margins.
Next time you want to print a greeting card, you don't have to do all over again: just pick your own custom set in the Paper Size menu.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to adjusting margins on HP 5510?

How can I adjust the margins on the HP 5510 printer when printing a pdf file?
I want to print two A5 pictures on one A4 sheet and then fold the page. But now my margings are off.
    I already ticked borderless printing.

    Hi Computer-nono,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you would like to adjust the margins.
I will be happy to help you.
You would have to adjust the margins from the application that you are printing from.
Go to file, page setup to change the margin settings.
You can change the paper type and size through the printer driver.
    From your software application’s
    File menu, select Print.
Make sure that the selected printer is the HP Officejet.
Click Properties, Make changes to the settings and click OK.
Click OK to print the job.
I have included a screen shot of the printer's limited margins.
    Hope this resolves your issue.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Adjusting margins when printing Tables

I want to reduce the margin size so I can maximize the size of my table when I print.  How do I do that?

I just tried to print a table from Numbers and was provided with a Print Setup menu after selecting File > Print where I could change the margins, as shown below. Do you not get this same menu?

  • HP 9050 - Adjust Margins?

hi.  i have 5 hp laserjet 9050s.  1 of the printers prints slightly different than the others. specifically, when printing the same document to all the printers, 1 printer shifts the entire page by about 1/8-1/4 of an inch.  i initially thought rollers and feed, but, new rollers and tune up does not change behavior.
is there a setting telling the printer where it starts printing from the edge of the paper?  i cant seem to find anything in the normal set up of the printer so i was wondering if it is a hardware setting?
all settings on each printer are identical.  firmware are all the same.
    thank you.

The method that I am familiar with is to use the Set Registration feature.  Generally this feature is sued to center the front and backside images on a duplexed page.  If you perform this on all 5 devices, it should result in similar output from all 5 devices.
The User Guide has instructions for setting registration on Page 75.
    http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00191861/c00191861.pdf
My understanding is that registration can be set for each tray.  You'll need to check and adjust each tray that you are planning to use.

  • Adjusting margins automatically...

I have a character mode report that I use to generate both a character based report and a pdf version (for web distribution). If I set the left margin, unwanted spaces are printed when I generate the character version. If I leave the margins set out as far as they'll go, there is no margin in the generated pdf.
Is there a way to programatically set the margin from a before report trigger. I could check the mode to see if it was bitmap or character and set the margin accordingly.
    Thanks,
    Jarred

    Hi
You can not set the margin programatically. I do not think you should use same report for generating character and bitmap mode output. This is not Recomended. You shall have diffrent reports for bitmap and character mode.
    Thanks

  • How can page margins be changed when printing from Firefox for Mac OS X?

This has been asked in the past with the thread closed even though the asker got no answer. I have the same problem so I am asking again....
How does one set the margin sizes on Firefox on the Mac?

Did not notice that you are using a Mac, otherwise, I would not have replied.
<s>It appears that page margins for OSX are set at the operating system level.</s>

  • How Interim Meter Reading before Device Replacement is adjusted in Periodic Billing after Replacement without sending Interim Bill Doc. to Customer

    Dear All,
At my Project Consumption is calculated as per Status and Notes Taken,i,e if it is "OK" reading MR is taken Directly for Consumption Periodically and Billed, but according to Logic if Customer MR Status and Notes is DL and AB(Door Lock and Abnormal) we Estimate Consumption according to logic written.
Now i have a problem when ever OK Reading Billing is done before Replacement - consumption of Replacement (Consumption given when Old Device billing related removal) with OK Notes is getting adjusted after replacement, but when estimation billing by DL or AB or Disconnected status Consumption been billed before replacement and after this device is been replaced is not able to adjust Replacement "OK" Reading (Consumption given when Old Device billing related removal) in Next Periodic Billings. So what i found is adjustment is not happening because of Absence of "OK"  MR Billing before Replacement and i asked them to make and Interim Billing so that the consumption should be adjusted before replacement and after replacement there should not be any issue. Now my User is ok with the above idea, but he want Interim Bill Consumption should not be sent to Customer and Interim Bill Consumption should be included in Periodic Billing and Invoice after Replacement is sent to Customer.
Please can any one give me some idea on above scenario.
