Adjusting photos to fit the themes in iDVD6

I am new to this program but have knowledge on Macs. My issue is that all the photos I drag over to iDVD do not fit the boxes in a theme so the heads in pictures are cut off of many images. I could use some help in getting the photos ready before transfering them to iDVD. THANKS........

blackcat9,
Welcome to the iDVD forum!
You can resize photos in iPhoto using the iDVD constrain tool
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61366
There is an "iDVD" 4:3 setting for standard DVDs, and a 16:9 tool fo WS DVDs.
However, this said, it does not mean they will still fit in "Drop Zones" - which is what I think you mean ny the "boxes in a theme". You can drag a picture inside a drop zone to recenter it, but iDVD usually only lets you drag in one direction. You can always go back to iPhoto and re-crop, but those aspect ratios are not always the same. I usually manage by just guestimating in iPhoto and then recentering in iDVD in the drop zone.

  • HT4623 Is anyone else having issues with scaling down photos to fit the screen for home and lock screens with ios7??

Is anyone else having issues with scaling down photos to fit the screen for home and lock screens with ios7??  Installed ios7 this morning. Tried to use one of my photos from camera roll as background for lock screen and I can't scale the photo to fit the screen.  Never had a problem before and now when I pinch the photo to get it to the right size of the screen, it won't stay that way. The photo is enlarged way beyond the screen size so it doesn't look right. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello, cliffiapp4.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.
    Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

    Hi,
you are working with a percentage width of your tables, for example:
    table width="123%
    td width="75%"
    td width="25%"
So it is simply a arithmetic problem to get the proportional wide (means the ratio of % to cm) of your images, so that they do not break the frame. Certainly you could use (translated from German DW) "properties" and change the sizes there:

  • Getting Photo to Fit the Slide

I want to create a simple slide show in Keynote. When I drag and drop my photo from finder, the image is often larger than the slide or the orientation is wrong.
I know I can drag the corners and rotate to get it to fit, but this is very time consuming to do with every slide. Is there a setting to make the image fit the slide without cropping the image?
    Thanks

In the Keynote Preferences, under General, check "Reduce placed images to fit on slide". Then, if you use the Insert menu to place an image, or if you simply drag an image from the Finder to the Navigator sidebar, the created slide will have the image sized to fit. (As far as I know, there is no way to automatically rotate images.)

  • So why can't I size a photo to fit the lock screen on the iPhone?

After choosing a photo to use on the lock screen, I can move it around, but cannot size it to fit correctly. What's the secret to getting the pic to fit?

Thanks for the reply. After posting the question, I did some reading of other discussions and found that your solution seems to be the only one out there. I also sent a note to Apple feedback requesting a fix in the next software update. Fingers are crossed

  • I was adjusting a photo, went to the next one, now iphoto is locked up.  I cannot get the screen to close or move to next picture.

iphoto is locked up.  I was adjusting  photos, went to the next one in the album, and the screen locked up. I cannot close iphoto or move to a new photo or album.  help....

    Greetings Judy,
Try tapping the "esc" key on your keyboard and see if that helps.
Try pressing command + Q on the keyboard to see if iPhoto will quit.
If that still does not help then Force quit iPhoto: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3411
    Hope that helps!

  • Photo's dropped into Themes do not render

When I use either the black refelction or white reflection theme some of the photo's render either half cut off or as diagonal lines.
    This is driving me nuts!
Anyone have a work around for this problem ?

Please say more about exactly what happens. Are you saying that one side of the photo is cropped off?
Note there are certain drop zones that do not have the same aspect ratio as most photos. In that case, iMovie crops the photo to fit the drop zone. Note, however, that in that case iMovie lets us move the photo around inside the drop zone to control the cropping. Click on the drop zone, then press the Option key. Two arrows appear, at the top/bottom of the drop zone, or at the left/right side. Drag the photo the direction of the arrows to crop the photo.
Are you saying the image itself is replaced by diagonal lines? The image changes?
Say more about what type of images they are. Particularly their size, in pixel dimension. If quite large, you might try using iPhoto to make them smaller.
If you're seeing a real distortion in the image, I suggest you start by removing and third-party iMovie plug-ins and third-party QuickTime add-ons. More about those here:

  • Resizing photos in slideshow scrapbook theme

Hi - I'm working on a slideshow in iPhoto '11.  I imported my photos and set the theme as scrapbook.  I realize that it's a template and I have to mess with the order of the photos get the pictures the way I want them to appear.  That said, I can only adjust some photos left/right and other up/down.  How do I zoom in or zoom out of the photos in order to center them to the picture frame better?
    Thanks!
    Nate

There are no options to control the layout for individual photos in the newer themes. The only themes that will give you a little bit more control are the older "Classic" and "Ken Burns". But these themes will simply show your photos full frame with little animations.  So you will have to present spectacular photos to keep the interest of your audience.

  • How do i make a still image (photo) fit the length of the music? I record music and want to put the tracks to a video file with a still image of my business logo in the background. Any help?

How do I make a still image (photo) fit the length of the music? I record music and want to convert the tracks to a video file with a still image of my business logo in the background. On windows movie maker you could just select "fit to music" but this program isnt as easy to figure out! Any help?

Double-click on the still image in the project timeline to open the Inspector. In the Inspector, adjust the duration by typing in a new duration to match the length of your music. I think the limit for a still image is 10 minutes. If you need more than this, simply drag the image into the timeline again then adjust its duration. The two images will play seamlessly (no gap will be visible).
    See this iMovie Help topic:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3a883915
You can achieve more precision when entering durations by changing a preference in the menu item iMovie Preferences. Check (tick) the preference for Show Time As HH:MM:SS:frames. This will enable you to enter the duration of stills down to the frame level, rather than full seconds (NTSC is 30 frames per second; PAL is 25 fps). When entering times, type a colon between each time segment, such as 2:50:15, which represents 2 minutes 50 seconds and 15 frames. For 5 seconds 20 frames you would enter 5:20 and so forth.
Note that the music will only run to the length of the video in the timeline (in your case, the still images). So, after increasing the stills duration you will need to drag the end of the music track as far as required. The stills can be dragged inwards to reduce the duration if necessary.

Command (right) - click on the photo and select Fit to Frame in the contextual menu:
Not all frames in a theme offer that feature but most do.  The spread layout doesn't.

  • Slideshow theme 'classic' is broken: 'scale photos to fit screen'

In Photos, the slideshow theme 'classic' offers as a 'duration setting' the box-check option 'scale photos to fit screen'.
This fit-to-screen option worked fine in iPhotos.  But in Photos it no longer works -- instead slides are surrounded *on all four sides* by a thickmargin of wasted black pixels (50+ pixels thick) ... even when the 'scale photos to fit screen' *is* checked.
QUESTION 1:  Is there any Photos theme that offers a working 'scale photos to fit screen'?
QUESTION 2:  Is there any likelihood that Photos will be fixed and/or upgraded to restore the lost fit-to-screen capability?
QUESTION 3:  Meanwhile, is there any workaround?
    The world wonders!

CChange the size of the 960x540 image very slightly. 960x540 is an anamorphic video format so the application interprets it that way and stretches the image. A couple of pixels difference in sync should do it.

  • How to adjust the Fonts to fit the component

The size of the text is much smaller than the size of the button. But when I put the letters onto the button, they are not properly shown. Instead of showing the whole letters, they become "..." on the button. I can not see them at all unless I make the window/frame to its full size.
How to adjust the Fonts or the properties of the components?
    Thanks.

The best way is to use a layout manager, so that your component is laid out automatically to fit.
If you really want to adjust the font size according to the size of the component, you would have to first retrieve the FontMatrix for your font, calculate the width of a particular string of text and see if it fits the component. However, why do that if you don't need to?

  • IPhoto on my macbook air does not see my ipod nano 2nd generation. Is there a way to get the photos from this device into my photo stream without wiping them, which will happen if I sync with iTunes

I have photos on an old 2nd generation ipod nano, that have since been wiped from any other source.
I now have a shared photostream through icloud between all my other apple deivces (iphone, ipod, ipad, macbook air, apple tv), but I cant find a way to get the ipod nano photos onto the stream. The original photo files were detroyed with an old computer, that also had the itunes library to which the nano was linked.
The photos are the only items I want from the nano. Can anyone help?

You need to copy the photos off of the Nano and onto your MacBook Air first.
The photos you synced to your iPod through iTunes are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of those photos.  So if you do manage to get them off your iPod, they will be quite small in size compared to the original ones you lost.
In order to get them off of your iPod, you'll need the help of some sort of 3rd party software. Here is one option.
