Adjusting the jpeg image size

I am trying to upload to Amazon a pages to pdf to jpeg for a book cover with the following requirements:
72 DPI, 4500 pixels X 2820 pixels
When I get to jpeg conversion is just see the slider bar for quality and a pixels/inch box. How do I input this size restrictions?

You can do this in Preview.  With the jpeg open, select Tools then Adjust Size from the menubar.  This will work in 10.9.4, anyway; I don't know which OS is on your iMac.
Good luck

  • How do I change the JPEG image size in PSE-12 when opening from RAW

Switching from PSE-9 to PSE-12. When a JPEG image is opened RAW in PSE-12 the size is 18.72" Wide x 12.48" high 300 DPI. The same image in PSE-9 is 23.4" wide x 15.6" High 240 DPI. How do I get PSE-12 to open the image as in PSE-9?

Uncheck the boxes at the bottom of the dialog Scale styles and resample Image so that only constrain proportions is checked. If you the change the resolution box from 240 to 300 you will get back to your original dimensions.
This is a meaningless thing to do, you still have the exact same number of pixels, you have only changed the metadata number in the file for ppi, and your prints are not affected by this number.
You could also use the same method to change the dimensions to 6 x 4 or 9 x 6 etc.
There are some cases (actually most cases) where you need to CROP the photo to change the dimensions, when the aspect ratio of the original photos is different than the aspect ratio of the final photo; the specific case in 99jon's example is the only case you ever want to change dimensions using Image->Resize->Image Size, where the aspect ratio doesn't change from 6x4 to 9x6 (or 12x8 or 18x12 or ...), and even then, you could do the same thing simply by telling the printer the size you want, you don't really need to do anything in PSE.

  • Grey area in the JPEG image

Recently my external hard drive with thousands of pictures failed. So I moved all of the files on the external to my Mac harddrive. I deleted the contents of the external hard drive. Now when I open the images (some not all) open with this grey area in the jpeg image. I'm assuming the file is partially corrupted. How can I restore the entire picture? The file size of the images seems to be the entire file but not showing up when I open the file. It does however show the entire picture as a thumbnail icon.
And other pictures show different colors (not just grey).
If someone can direct me to a software or perhaps tell me how to fix them. Not sure if Aperture has some capability of fixing this but hopefully someone out there has the answer.
    Cheers,
    Gilbert

Are they gray, or partially gray in the Finder QuickView, Preview, etc or only in Aperture? If the former, then yeah they may be damaged beyond repair but if it is only Aperture, then it could be the in-app thumbs that are bad and you could try reconnecting them and then rebuilding thumbs.

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • Why am I getting messages such as "The command "Image Size" is not currently available" when trying to run an Action that has always worked in the past and when the particular Commands do work if used by themselves?

Why am I getting messages such as "The command Image Size is not currently available whenever I try to run an Action that uses the particular command (and which has always worked fine previously) and when the particular command works fine when used on its own?

I would think that image size would always be available when there is an active document in Photoshop.  The only time I remember seeing messages like that where they should work was during the five month period when Adobe released CS6 with so many bugs which took Adobe five months to fix.  During those five month messages like that that should not have happen were common when action switch between documents.  Adobe would start processing the next Action step before the document switch completed, Any step that required an active document could fail with a mess stating the command is not available.
Are you by some chance using CS6 version 13.0 CS6 without any updates.  Use Photoshop menu Help>About Photoshop.  If it shows CS6 version 13.0 you need to update CS6. .

The next time that happens, try this keyboard shortcut.
    Command + Option + Esc
That way you can "force quit" the Facetime App.

  • What is the best image size format for imovie iOS

I want to create a few black images with white letters as title slides and use them with some of my videos I am creating using imovie with my new ipad3.
What is the best image size?
    thanks!
    Jeremy

It all depends on what you want to do with the images.
If you don't want to do any moves on the images then make them the exact size of the video.
The iPad 3 edits in full HD, 1920 x 1080.
If you want to do small moves, then make is larger.
But keep the 1920 x 1080 dimensions otherwise iMovie just chops the image to that ratio.
    good luck

    Hello Michael.
Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem is not disappears when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.
Also, if you want to use an older version of Firefox, please use Firefox 3.5.11. Only versions 3.5.11 and 3.6.8 are supported, and both contain all the latest security fixes. Using any other version is unsafe and not recommended.

  • How is it possible to adjust the background images and the text in Mail?

How is it possible to adjust the background images and the text in Mail?

Here's the solution I used to solve the same problem. If you're not comfortable editing the source files, this might be more than you want to take on--but I've done it to several files with no ill effects. You can follow the instructions on this page and the referenced original post from (he includes a link on the page). Good luck! He's got some great tips on some of his other pages.
    http://photo.rwboyer.com/2010/03/15/aperture-3-book-theme-trick/
A warning about editing the Master pages--it only edits them in that book--it doesn't update the theme. So if you go to create another book with those same layouts, you'll have to duplicate the book and replace all the images. An alternative would be to create a "clean" book with no photos in it and then just use that as a starting point each time.

    Done. Thank you, Allan.
The sparse image article you sent a link to needs a little updating (or there's some variability in prompts (no password was required) with my OS and/or Disk Utility version), but it worked.
Phew! It would have been much more time consuming to use Time Machine to recover all my photos after repartitioning the drive.

  • This is about the still image size changing from what I see on the computer monitor and what the burned DVD shows on the TV

I have Prem.El 12 and have used PE4 for years.  I have a new PC that runs Win7Pro.  The still images on the computer monitor are within the "safe margins".  The still images after the movie has been burned to a disk are MUCH smaller on the TV screen.  Is this an issue of 16:9 vs 4:3 ratios?  My TV is 4:3.  Can I tell PE12 to make the movie a 4:3?

Although I have seen your post of today in my Inbox Email Notifications, that post has not yet appears in this thread. It will probably will sooner or later. But, to keep things moving along....this is a copy of what I am seeing as your message of today in my Indox Email Notifications
Thank you for your patience in the time it is taking me to get back to you.
I am still trying to buy some DVD-RW discs and will hopefully do that in a
bit.  Meanwhile, I have more info for you and some simple (I hope)
questions.  If you want to insert your answers, that would be fine.
My camera (for stills and video) is set to the 4:3 ratio.  It is capable of
being set to a 16:9 ratio if I wanted to do that.  I looked in its TOOLS
    menu and saw this info.
My TV is definitely a 4:3 TV.  (I measured it with my tape measure and
divided W/L to get 1.33)  The TV can show a 16:9 movie and just adds the
black bars on the top and bottom.  Question: What will my old 4:3 movies
look like on a 16:9 TV whenever we buy one of those?
It seems to me that I want to set PE12 to the NTSC DV Standard you
    mentioned.
I do NOT know how to “size your photos so that each has a 4:3 aspect”,
unless you mean doing that in Photoshop Elements, which I know how to do
    (*see below)
I had NOT considered that I would need to watch the preset for the
‘Publish+Share’ step; so that’s good to know (I copied and pasted your info
    for later use).
BTW, years ago when I had difficulties with my XP computer working on PE4
(had only 2 GB RAM), an Adobe tech told me to resize my photos * to have a
720 pixel width (the height would be automatically adjusted) to lower the
file size to something my computer could handle without crashing.  (That
was back in the good ol’ days when Adobe support would actually talk with
their customers and try to help them in the first month)
My new computer has 16GB RAM.  Do you think I still need to reduce file
size?  One does lose some sharpness in the resizing process…..however,
these videos I’m making are travelogues and are for a fun way to view pics
and videos of a trip…nothing Earth shattering….and just a hobby to keep me
    off the streets.
I truly appreciate the time you take to help me (and others).  I was even
tempted to try to install my old PE4 on my new computer just to be able to
    enjoy my hobby again.
    My reply to the above....
    1. If you camera is giving you 4:3 photos and your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, then leave
the photos as is unless you have a lot of photos and each has pixel dimensions sizes way over 1920 x 1080 pixels that are giving your computer resource issues. If you have to down size them because of computer resources, then copy the photos to a computer desktop folder and also create an empty folder on the computer desktop.
    a. Photoshop Elements Editor, File Menu/Process Multiple Files.
    Process Files form Folder
Source - browse to and select the computer desktop folder with photos to be resized
Destination - browse to and select the empty computer desktop folder
    Image Size
Check Mark Next To Resize Images
(no check mark next to Constrain Proportions)
Type in Width = 1000  (set units for pixels)
Type in Height = 750 (set unites for pixels)
    File Size
Check Mark Next to Convert Files To
               Set for JPEG High Quality
The above should work fine for a NTSC DV Standard project with a burn to DVD disc with preset NTSC_Dolby DVD (4:3 video).
    2. With regard to the TV Set and 16:9 video....when you have the DVD-player attached to the TV, do you have the opportunity to bring up a display of menus with
controls for Picture and Aspect Ratio? From what you have written so far, it looks like the answer is no. I am not sure how your TV DVD
    player will handle 16:9.
Best do a mini test run
    1. Project preset set manually to NTSC DV Widescreen (please refer to post 1 link)
    A few photos sized for 1600 x 1200
In the Premiere Elements project, use the Safety Margins inner rectangle for text placement
    Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
See what that looks like on your TV DVD player.
If you discovered that your current TV DVD player can be set for a 16:9 display, then I have a preferred workflow for
NTSC DV Widescreen which typically gives best possible results. Hints of things to come.
Please review and consider. Thanks for the follow ups.

  • Reducing JPEG image size - jaggies in InDesign CC and Photoshop CC

I have a high-res jpeg, 600ppi, 11 inches by 6.603 inches. The image is 4.21 MB, so there's plenty of data.
I need to make it smaller to go into an InDesign document for print. I've been noticing this issue for awhile with CC. Recently I downsized a JPEG of line art in Photoshop for a poster, and it looked just awful.
When I reduce the size to 300ppi, and 4" wide, bicubic sharper, I'm noticing that diagonals especially look really jaggy. The smaller I go, the worse the jaggies are. This is counterintuitive, because I'm reducing the size of the image.
I have the Display Performance set to high-quality, with Allow Object-Level Display settings checked.
When I place the CMYK reduced-size JPEG onto the page, the diagonals look jaggy. I thought it was a monitor issue, and that is contributing to it, but when I print out the page on my printer, the diagonals are still kind of jaggy. I tried placing a TIFF, and oh, my, that was twice as bad. I tried placing a PDF. Ugh.
I've tried reducing the image to the exact size in Photoshop so I don't have to scale it in ID, then placing the image, and still jaggies.
I've tried taking that image and dragging it from Bridge into the ID File. Still jaggies.
I did print the image out directly from Photoshop at the smaller size, and it looks perfect.
What could be happening? Is there a way to fix it? I'm working on a bunch of print work with some really nice photos in them (for a couple of real estate clients), and I'm afraid when the collateral gets printed, it's going to look like crap.

Recently I downsized a JPEG of line art in Photoshop for a poster, and it looked just awful.
When I reduce the size to 300ppi, and 4" wide,
If it's really line art (no gray values) then 300ppi isn't enough. Line art needs to be closer to the output resolution (800-1200 ppi), and shouldn't be saved as JPEG.

  • How can I descreen and scale the target image size with a HP 8600 n911 premium?

I recently purchased an new HP 8600 n911 premium all-in-one, HP's top of the line all in one inkjet printer/scanner.  I cannot find any settings that permit me to descreen an image (such as one in a newspaper) or to adjust the size of the target image.  Is there additional software that will permit me to do this or am I missing something in the software provided by HP?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You would need software form a third party to have this option.  The free software that comes with the 8600 doesn't have an option for that. Vuescan is the only software I could find that says it works with your pritner and has a descreen option.  You have to purchase it, but it will give you more advanced options than the software that came with the printer.

  • How to adjust the camera overlayview size

i am making a photography app and need to overlay an image over the camera. i am wondering if there is a way to adjust the size of this image because it's going to full screen by default.
currently, i'm solely displaying the overlay picture using the code:
    picker.cameraOverlayView = cameraCase;
where the "cameraCase" is a uiimageview that is being overlayed on top of the camera and "picker" is the uiimagepicker.
i would also need to add buttons (of custom sizes) on top of the camera view as well - i'm assuming i can adjust the size of these as i would a picture.
any knowledge you're willing to share would be much appreciated!
    many thanks in advance!
