Adjusting the page information in pdf presets?

Hi,
Is there a way to adjust the information in the "Page information" when creating pdf-files from Indesign (i.e. in the pdf presets)?
As you know the defalt is file name and page number and date and time. I would like to include total page number, like page 1/100 or page 1 (100) or something like that.
Does anyone know if I can adjust the page information area to include things like this?
With kind regards,
- Johan.

In English it's called the Slug.
I'm not sure, though, that it will help you because there is still no easy way to get the absolute page x of n pages automatically. There are page number markers that deliver the current LOGICAL page number, and a Last Page Number text variable, which in theory can be set to use absolute page numbering, but you must also set the document prefs to use absolute numbering, and then you get logical page x of absolute n, which may work for you if your sections are all using unique number styles, or you have only one section, or you can set the doc to use Section Numbering, and set the variable to use sections as the scope and your variable will return the last page number of each section, so you get logical page x of section length n. If you don't start the section on page 1, it becomes even stranger.

If you bought Reader, you were swindled, because it's a free program. And it has never been able of converting PDF files to any other format.

  • How do you reorder the pages in a PDF ie back to front (not individually via Page view)

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if this has been answered elsewhere but I couldn't seem to search "the database"
How do you reorder the pages in a PDF ie back to front (not individually via Page view). The manual solution of course is to scan or import them in the correct order in the first place. However, this did not happen, and we have many PDF's which are 100% in the wrong order. So we would like to press a button and have them in the right order.
Many thanks in advance for your help...

Got it to work. It returned a completely different path of course just to make life interesting and required a FN+OPTION ENTER in order to return the path. I now have the FLATTEN option in the edit menu.
Just trying it checking all the Flatten options except the fields seemed to work on the first pass. I'm going to try and load a copy of the original complete document. I assume that is the proper way to use this at this point since I created the form ***-backwards?
I've used Adobe layout programs since the Aldus days but Acrobat seems to work differently than any other program I've used.
If I understand what you're saying I should:
    1. Design the layout of the form leaving spaces for the fields
    2. Open Acrobat, import the document
    3. Auto-add and correct, or manually add the fields
    4. Fix tabbing
    5. Add any additional comments or annotations
    6. Flatten everything but the fields?  (If the fields are flattened I can't fill out the form unless it's supposed to be a printed form only, right?)
Might just have to break down and RTFM.  Acrobat is a really different animal.

Is there a way to flip the pages in a .pdf so that all of the text is readable (in other words all documents are right side up)?  I have Adobe Acrobat X and am using Windows 8.1.

I have a pdf with over 2,000 pages, many of which are sideways.  I do not want to manually flip each one (few are next to each other).  Is there a way to automate the function so that all sideways or upside down text pages are righted?

  • Getting the page content as pdf file

    Hi All,
I have a use case like i need to get the page content as pdf file.
For this i found xsl file and it's config under the following locations
    /libs/cq/config/rewriter/pdf/transformer-xslt --config of source
    /libs/wcm/core/content/pdf/page2fo.xsl -- xsl file location
For custamising this functionality i copied both confing node and xsl file under "/apps" .In the Config file i changed source to refer xsl file under /apps.But it's not taking config changes.
    I have looked into http://cqblueprints.com/xwiki/bin/view/CQ+FAQ/How+can+I+configure+the+ PDF+rewriter
there it's saying like we need to modify the com.day.cq.rewriter.xml.XSLTTransformer class. i am not getting how to modify it.
    I need this urgently
    Thanks,

  • How can I rearrange the pages in a PDF without changing the assigned paged numbers.

How can I rearrange the pages in a PDF without changing the assigned paged numbers? These correspond to the original document folio numbers.

In theory it would be possible to 'record and play back' the page numbers using a folder-level script, but it's far from trivial. You would have to use the doc.movePage() function - presumably driven by a dialog box - to do the page shuffling so there was a way to track what was being done, then swap the page 'labels' of the two affected pages. That's where it gets messy.
We have functions in the JSAPI which can read and write the page label, but they don't do things in a logical way. The 'getPageLabel()' function simply returns a string, but the 'setPageLabel()' method expects to be told the numbering scheme, prefix, etc. You'd have to parse the string and work out what scheme it was implementing.

  • Can I separate the pages of one PDF file into separate files

Is there a quick way to separate the pages of a PDF?
For example, I want to take a 10 page PDF, separate the pages and save them as 10 separate files.
I know I can go through and extract each page, but I need to do this with multiple documents that can be over 100 pages and to extract each page one-by-one would be extremely time consuming.

See Thom Parker's latest http://www.acrobatusers.com/tech_corners/javascript_corner/index.php JavaScript Corner http://www.acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2008/04/js_extracting_pages/ Extracting pages from a PDF with Acrobat JavaScript for an example of JavaScript that can extract every 4 pages and place them in an email or new file. This code can easily be modified to extract every page.
Or you can download http://abracadabrapdf.net/articles.php?lng=en&pg=15 AbracadabraTOOLS 2.5 to add new menu options to your copy of Acrobat that include splitting a PDF by x pages.

  • Can I adjust the page margins in Adobe Reader like I can in Word?

I have a quilting pattern I am trying to enlarge, but I cannot find a way to adjust the left or top margins so when I want to print an 8" square, the left margin is staying at 2", no matter what I try.   I thought I would be able to adjust the margin, just like in Word.
    I have Windows 7

If I purchase the Adobe Reader converter to a Word document I should  be
able to right?   Or is there an upgraded version of Adobe  where I could
    adjust the margins??

  • Adjusting the page size in numbers on the ipad

I need to be able to adjust/set the page size for numbers documents on the ipad. Every time I export the numbers document from icloud as a pdf to a pc the spreadsheets are all over the place with page breaks in the wrong places. If i export as an excel I lose all formatting. I can't download as a numbers doc as the pc will not support it. Is there a way of setting and locking the document/page size with out going through the print option as i do not have an airprint printer and am not going to get one either!

I don't see a setting for page size.  Everything else related to that (sans setting the page size) appears to be found here:
    Click the wrench
    Share & Print
    Print
Select portrait/landscape, content size, page numbering, headers
    Done (don't actually print it)
I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it.  I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

  • How to adjust the page size

I have an indd file with a magazine, 44 pages, format 210 mm. x 275 mm.
My problem is that from the beginning I made it in A4 format. This is not a problem for the printing workshop, but it is a problem when I make a pdf file, because it comes out with 22 "empty" millimeters in the bottom. I tried to use File --> Document setup and change the height from 297 mm. to 275 mm., but this cuts only 11 mm. in the bottom - and the other 11 mm. in the top.
How can I do it right?

    MySpecialSceenName wrote:
    I don't understand
    Nor do I.
I think it's normal for the page to shrink evenly top and bottom. is the content at the top of your page now cut off?
You might want to try again after enabling Layout Adjustment (Layout > Layout Adjustment). If the frames are touching guides they should move withthe guides.

  • How can I export/save my iphoto'11 photo book pages as actual images of the pages (jpeg), not PDF?

I have 'printed' the book as a PDF, but would like to get a jpeg version of each actual page (not the individual photos). So far, I have tried 'exporting', but that gives me each pic individually, sharing-same thing.
My goal is to upload the finished pages onto a family website.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Open the PDF file in Preview and start a Print job.  In the Print window click on the PDF button and then in the resulting menu select Save PDF to iPhoto. That will create a jpg version of each page and import it into an album of your choosing in iPhoto.
This is what you'll get in iPhoto after the import:
Note:  As soon as the book has been processed into iPhoto select all of the pages and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text menu option to rename the pages as "Page " with the option to include a sequential number at the end.  That's because the jpgs that are created have really crazy file names which will make it difficult to get in order if they ever get out of order.

  • Can I re-size the pages in a PDF document?

I've got a document done in Mac Pages. It turns out to be the wrong page size. It would be a lot of work to reposition everything again.
Is there any way with Acrobat Pro that I can resize the PDF pages in a PDF document?
I notice I can extract the individual pages ... if I could extract them and somehow import them back into a re-sized Pages document, then re-export them to PDF at the proper size???
Any help would be most appreciated,
    Thank you,
    Ben

    Hi Aandi,
No problem with 'hard' copy or 'web' copy. I understand about compression.
But. Either way I've got the same problem with both versions. I did the original with the document page size set at 'legal' size, as was recommended by a particular print house we were going to use.
Here is the actual concept: www.howtosolveglobalwarming.info (see 'DVD' page link).
It turns out this was not a helpful recommendation. The 'booklet' is supposed to fit into a DVD case, which is about 7.25 inches in length (height).
I don't want to have to rebuild the original document page by page. I just want to resize the entire thing down from its original 'legal' size (8,5 X 14) to something more like 4.04 X 7.25.
The only way I can figure to do it with Acrobat is reset the page size, then output to 'print', but then I can't make a straight PDF, I have to make a Postscript (it seems) file, which I then have to convert back to a PDF ... (and I notice some odd artifact frames appearing around text-supered-over-graphics- which might disappear if I 'flatten' the original PDF file before outputting to Postcript and converting back to PDF??
I bet there is a simpler way. Any suggestions? Also, is there any function in Adobe Acrobat Pro that would allow me to add 'space' to one side of a page (as in Photoshop)?
Or perhaps I should extract each of the 30 pages, resize them in Photoshop, and then reconstruct the document in Pages (or Acrobat) using the Photoshopped pages?

  • Why the window setting the printing disappeared when I try to select the page number of pdf file

When I send the pdf file to the printer and try to select the page number to be printed by entering (e.g., 4-10), the page for setting up printing work suddenly disappeared.   As a result, I could only print pdf files from page 1 to the end, if I want to print any document.   I have no problem with printing word documents.  Thus, it should not be problems related to printer, right ?
Your help is highly appreciated !

What is your operating system?  Reader version?
You mean the Print panel completely disappears when you enter some page numbers?
