Adjusting volume levels on music

hi. i added a song from my iTunes library onto the timeline. I want the music to fade in slowly but i can't figure out how to adjust the volume of the soundtrack to make it do that. any suggestions?

I've not made a full exploration of titling in iMovie 6 but there was no way to do what you want in iMovie 5 without the use of a third party plug in.
One approach to what you are trying to do is to create a graphic of your title and then add it to your movie.
Techniques for doing that are explained here.
Scroll down to where it says "Bugging iMovie".
The third party plugin sites mentioned in the article are good sources for extra goodies that may be of interest to you.
Keep in mind all of them may not be compatible yet with iMovie HD6.

Is TV2 suposed to recognise iTunes settings(eg. start, end, volume level) for music videos ??

I am trying to run music videos from iTunes to AppleTV2. But any of the settings I have made in iTunes agnats the music video (eg. Video start time, stop time, volume level) don't seem to be recognised by TV2. Is this correct ? If so, how do I control varying volumes levels when playing via TV2 ?

I have this problem on occasion, below the song title and progress bar there are two symbols tap them 1 at a time and restart not sure witch one but one of them does this. I think the other causes the song to loop

There are 3rd party programs that do this more effectively (at least in my opinion).
For Windows there is mp3Gain.

Adjusting Volume Levels in Track Volume Editor Question

I have started to experiment with the track volume editor available in the track mixer ...
I set some graph points and adjusted the volume of a track in various areas ..
It all worked great ...
Then I noticed I did not have access to the track volume slider as it was dimmed out ...
With some good advice from hangtime I was able to undim the track volume slider .... but now I have not been able to progress from there ..
When I open the track volume editor of other tracks that have not been tampered with yet ... and move the track volume slider ... I can see the volume line move up and down ...
Now if I go back to the track that I have manipulated the volume ... and move the volume slider ... nothing happens to the volume line.
I am assuming that after you make adjustments in the volume editor you can no longer adjust the initial output line ... Is this correct ..? If so ... what is the point of undimming the blue button?
Also .. I'm kind of sure that I read somewhere that there is a key combination that will reset this volume line to unity .. at least that will let me start over again and give me access to the overall volume ...

So you have to reset the line to enable the fader .... as I mentioned before .. isn't there a key command to do that .. rather than having to delete all the graph points ...?

Can I still adjust the level of a music

imovie HD, we could adjust the level of music with different points( example: i imported a music and on a certain locations I want to decrease the sound from 100% to 40 and keep it there until another point then level it up to 60% then decrease it again to 20%....) but it seems that this feature is missing in imovie '09, isn't it?

You adjust the level of music with the Volume Slider in the Audio tab of the inspector. This volume setting applies to the entire clip.
If you need several different volume levels within a clip, you select the frames which need a certain volume, then EDIT/SPLIT CLIP (or right-click SPLIT CLIP). Then adjust the volume slider.

If your iPod, is a 30 GB model, then it is a 5th generation iPod. This information can be found here: [Identifying iPod Models|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353]
There are a few ways you could go about solving this issue. The first thing is to enable Sound Check on your iPod, which can be found under *Main Menu -> Settings -> Sound Check*. Next, be sure the option is also enabled in iTunes. The setting is in iTunes preferences Playback pane. Place a check next to the box for *Sound Check*.
Another option is to adjust the overall volume of the song in iTunes, and then sync the updated changes to your iPod. To do this, locate the song(s) in iTunes, right->click and choose *Get Info* from the menu. From there, head over to the Options tab. Move the slider up and down depending on whether you want to bring the overall volume up or down and then hit Ok when you are finished. Lastly, sync your iPod to update the changes made to the altered songs. See if that helps.
There are also excellent 3rd party applications that can adjust the songs overall volume. One can be found [HERE|http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net>.

ITunes volume level vs. OS X volume level

Hello,
Is there any method to "lock" the iTunes volume level to OS X? Ie. i don't want two options to adjust volume level (inside iTunes and in OS X on my MacBook Pro). I just want one. The thing is that i want to be able to adjust the volume level using the Remote app on my iphone. But i always leave the volume bar on max inside iTunes, so i'm only able to decrease the volume and not increase it.
Let me explain this with an example:
iTunes is playing some song.
iTunes volume is a 100%
OS X volume is at 50%
I'm not next to my computer and i wan't to increase the volume of the music.
I pull out my iphone from my pocket, launch Remote and the volume bar is at 100% - hence i'm only able to decrease the volume.
Until now i would turn down the volume in itunes to lets say 50% and the volume in OS X to 100%. That way i would be able to both de- and increase the volume from the Remote. But this means that all other sound on my MacBook is at 100% and that is sometimes too loud.
So what i would like some patch or app that adjust the volume in itunes if i manually adjust the OS X volume, to match the same percentage. And vice versa; if i adjust the volume in itunes (inside itunes on my mac or through the Remote app) it should adjust the it should automatically adjust it to the corresponding percentage in OS X.

Adjusting volume to account for recordings of unequal quality

I'm creating an iMovie with photo clips and music. I know how to view and adjust volume levels on the audio. Each of the song bits that I'm using are entered at the same volume level.
However, during playback, some songs are quite loud and others seem too soft.
How do I make them more the same...is it even possible?

Two songs set to the same volume level in iMovie will not necessarily sound that way. The level for any particular piece of audio is relative to the level at which it was originally recorded at.
So, in your case, you might try lowering the level of the audio that's too loud and raising it for those clips that seem too soft.
Let your ears be your guide, not volume settings themselves.

A couple questions about volume adjustment on the various Audio Timelines on Premiere Pro CS 5.
1) How to adjust volume level of an mp3 on the Audio 2 timeline?
2) How to adjust or mute volume of an 'individual' video clip on the Video 1 and Audio 1 timeline? (I have many clips on the timeline and know how to mute them all, but in this case, I'm looking to only mute certain clips in the timeline.)

Along with the material covered in the Help File, that Ann linked to, see this ARTICLE. It goes into a little more detail on the differences between Clip Keyframes and Track Keyframes (generated with Audio Mixer). While the effect of those can be the same, there are nuances, that one should make note of.

Automatic adjusting of the volum level

Does anybody know in witch way/how the player does the automatic adjusting of the volum level? How does the automatic adjusting of the volum level work? Is it just the decibel that is "normalising"? How does the player measure it? Are the frequenses exactly the same in a song/tune after the automatic adjusting?
Is there anything else in the sound that is influenced in any way?

Volume level adjustment

Well, it's looking pretty good, except for volume levels. The levels were terrific in imovie, but once burned, they are too soft. The menu theme, however, plays nice and loud (this is an imported wav file.)
I can, of course, lower the menu theme volume, but that sounds perfect. It's the imovie files which need to be bumped up, and they are already maxed out in imovie.
Question: Does the slider for volume level in idvd menus have any impact on what plays in the content portion of the menu? Does setting the menu level volume at its midpoint affect imovie sound? If I maxed out that slider, would it bump up the content?

Answer: No it does not. Only the movie content slider can do this. (ref. yellow hilighted area on menu/play movie and it's appropriate QT content slider which has no effect on volume per se).
Q:Does setting the menu level volume at its midpoint affect imovie sound?
A: No. It will not effect the movie portion of the DVD but only the volume on the menu (as shown above).
Q: If I maxed out that slider, would it bump up the content?
A: No.... assuming you mean the slider that the above black arrow is pointing to. In order to bump up/adjust QT content simply adjust the slider directly above the yellow hilighted movie shown above.
Question for you .... Was all of the video footage used in your iDVD project originally shot in 16 bit or 12 bit audio? (You will get best results when you stay with 16 bit audio only).

Normalization of Music Volume Level on To

I am wondering if there is a way that I can transfer my tracks to my player making the volume level constant between all tracks. I don?t think media source can? So, now with Play For Sure, is there something out there that will do this? Will Notmad?
I don?t care if I have to transcode it's And is there something that will transfer .pls or .m3u playlists?

big advantage of mp3gain: it actually changes the files itself, so any player, wmp, winamp, mediamonkey or hardwareplayer will play in the correct volume.

In Premier Elements 12 I see you can drag the volume for the music track up/down to adjust the volume, but I would like even better control. Is there a way I can key in the decibel volume I desire instead of just dragging the volume line up/down and hoping I can get it right that way?

Have you highlighted your audio on the audio track, and then gone to Expert workspace Adjust Tab, Adjustments Palette, Volume Panel expanded?
This route allows for keyframing of the Volume:Clip Volume properties as well as setting one volume for the whole audio clip.
By the way, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated to the 12.1 Update (See Help Menu/Updates).

When I play a playlist of music the volume levels seem to vary up

When I play a playlist off my Ipod touch on external sound system the volume level of my songs down loaded will vary.
I have down loaded music to itunes on our Mac desk top from cds & legal sounds.com. Really frustrating please could someone give advice
