Adjustment Inspector - Is there a super-preset?

If I have a number of shots taken under similar lighting, I might want to tweak one of them and then use those settings for the other shots.
I see it is possible to save presets of individual adjustment controls, but I cannot see any way to save a set of presets as a super-preset to then use for other shots. Without that, it is laborious to use each of several presets on each image successively.
Any suggestions?

try this on for size ...

  • Adjusting the page information in pdf presets?

    Hi,
Is there a way to adjust the information in the "Page information" when creating pdf-files from Indesign (i.e. in the pdf presets)?
As you know the defalt is file name and page number and date and time. I would like to include total page number, like page 1/100 or page 1 (100) or something like that.
Does anyone know if I can adjust the page information area to include things like this?
    With kind regards,
    - Johan.

In English it's called the Slug.
I'm not sure, though, that it will help you because there is still no easy way to get the absolute page x of n pages automatically. There are page number markers that deliver the current LOGICAL page number, and a Last Page Number text variable, which in theory can be set to use absolute page numbering, but you must also set the document prefs to use absolute numbering, and then you get logical page x of absolute n, which may work for you if your sections are all using unique number styles, or you have only one section, or you can set the doc to use Section Numbering, and set the variable to use sections as the scope and your variable will return the last page number of each section, so you get logical page x of section length n. If you don't start the section on page 1, it becomes even stranger.

  • For the life of me, I can't find out what size a photo is in terms of inches or how to change the size of the photo[s] so I can print them. I think I read somewhere to click edit, then click adjust. Nothing there about sizing.

For the life of me, I can't find out what size a photo is in terms of inches or how to change the size of the photo[s] so I can print them. I think I read somewhere to click edit, then click adjust. I don't see anything about re-sizing when I click the adjust tab: only saturation and tint levels. Thank you.

With respect to digital images, there really is no size in inches. The size is given as number of pixels horizontally and vertically. In iPhoto '09 you click the little "i" inthe lower right side of the window and it will display information related to the selected photo, including the pixel dimensions. I do not have iPhoto '11 installed so I don't know if it is the same there.
In some applications, such as preview, it has something additional called Dots per Inch (DPI) which you would think would allow you to convert the pixel dimensions to inches. It is not a real thing, though. The DPI is determined by how large or small you have chosen to print your photo and the capabilities of your printer.
There is also something called Aspect Ratio, which is usually expressed in inches x inches such as 6x9 but that doesn't mean the size on the screen or when printed is 6x9.  It is the ratio of the pixel dimensions.  When cropping your photos, you will have several standard aspect ratios to choose from plus any custom ones you create.
In iPhoto '09, after you choose Print, in the Print Setting window are the settings for the size you want the photo printed. You want to shoose a setting with the same aspect ratio of your photo. Otherwise, iPhoto will resize and/or crop your photo to fit the size you have chosen.

  • Are there white balance presets - like in Camera Raw?

Hi. I'm newer to Aperture, and when I'm editing photos, I'm wondering if there's a white balance preset, like in Adobe Camera Raw, that match my camera's white balance options (cloudy, flash, daylight, etc.). Is there something like that in Aperture that I can't find, or am I just regulated to the sliders?
    Thanks!

they are not preinstalled, but you can easily make them. just shoot several images with your camera set to each white balance, then save all the settings in the white balance brick.

  • Where can I find some gradient swatches in InDesign. There are no presets except black and white!

I'm missing presets in InDesign. Are there gradient libraries somewhere that I don't know about?
    Thank you.

I don't know about online. There are gradient libraries for Illustrator, but there is no way I know of to get the swatches to move from AI to ID. .ase files don't support gradients or patterns, and pasting a gradient filled object doesn't seem to bring the swatch, either.

  • Combining several adjustment layers into a easily accessable preset

    Hello,
the past couple of hours I've been trying to combine multiple Adjustment Layers (For example Curves, Black & White, Exposure and Color Fill) into one final preset that I can easily access later. I've been having problems finding that out, not a single input in google was able to clear up my problem. I know how to save a preset for e.g. Curves only or Levels only. But using several layers of adjustments?
    Some help required (:

I will try my best. Thank you very much for the answer
    Edit:
So, I just did it. You were right, easy to understand, working perfectly fine! Thanks very much!

  • Can you customize Adjustment Inspector?

Hi all... Just got my 20" core duo, and started working with Aperture.
I am pretty happy so far, but one thing is bugging me... How do I keep items open in the Adjustments Pallet, without having to select them for every single photo?
For example, I want to keep 'sharpen' open - So I select it from the drop down list, but it goes again when I move on to the next photo.
    Surely this is possible?
    Thanks for your support,
    Paul

As a working pro who has to spend a week or so after each assignment endlessly repeating slightly different adjustments to each image....I say ditto to ALL of the above and apple devs take note of all the above and GET IT DONE QUICKLY......please.
    PS
Personally I would also like to see the other panels and control strips turned into detachable and floating 'remote controls' (HUD's) as well.
i.e the rating strip and the tool strip.
I know you can right click on the mouse etc...but its not the same.

  • Adjustable statcounter out there?

starting a new web site with a new concept and would like to have a statcounter I could start at say 1000 viewers and NO I don't feel this is unethical my service has nothing to do with how many visitors it gets it sells a service but it is a bit embarrassing to send someone to look at your site to sell them your service and you have 3 "hits" /visitors because you just updated/created site hosted on go daddy not.mac
    any help appreciated

    StatCounter (http://www.statcounter.com) actually is
a configurable counter. In addition to the many
colors and fonts, you can also specify exactly what
number you want to start on...kinda like getting a
new box of checks. If you don't want to give the
notion that no one has ever viewed your website, you
can also make the counter invisible altogether.
Either way, checking your hits is as easy as using
    the StatCounter Dashboard widget.
If you've not used StatCounter before, it takes a
little bit of editing to get it into your iWeb pages.
If this doesn't sound like an exciting learning
experience for you, you can use Chad Brantly's
    iComment application
    (http://web.mac.com/cbrantly/iWeb/Software/iComment.h
ml) to automatically add the StatCounter code to all
your pages for you...no editing necessary.
Thanks James both options look good I like the analagy "like a new box of checks" I only bought a 2 month trial at go daddy to see if people are even interested in my service
    Thanks again

  • 3.3 Adjustment presets

I'm in adjustments doing a raw image and I can not find where my presets are?  Used to be in a drop down in inspector?  Where are the presets now?

The name has been changed to "Effects".
    "Adjustment Presets" are now "Effects".
There is a tile at the top of the Adjustment Brick stack.  Click it to drop-down a list of your Effects.

  • Can you combine multiple Adjustment presets in Aperture?

Is it possible to combine multiple adjustment presets into a single "master" preset setting? I know that I can adjust all the settings on a single photo, and then "lift/stamp" the settings onto multiple photos.
What I'd like to do is have a single preset that has all of my standard NEF (Raw) adjustments setup as a starting point for my D3 photos. From that point, I can then tweak them individually for the final version.
I'm finding that I make the same adjustments (Eg: saturation boost, vibrancy, edge sharpen, etc) on most NEF's out of the camera and I'm looking for a faster way to save all the individual tool adjustment presets into a combined "master" preset.
    Any help is appreciated.
    regards
    Tom

Thanks for the link. I had seen this thread prior to posting my question, as it really just gives other means of using "lift/stamp" to create adjustment presets in a different fashion, using existing images as starting points.
What I'm still trying to confirm is whether there is a way to create a master combination from all/any individual tool presets adjusted. It seems like "manage presets" should give some type of ability to combine the individual tool presets, but so far, I haven't seen how to do so....
    regards

  • Adding an Adjustment Preset which adds a new brick?

I've created some new presets with good results but now I want to do something slightly different.
After picking Auto Enhance, I'd like to back down the red in an image. I can go to the Levels brick and pick the red Channel and make an adjustment there but I want a way to create a 'Less Red' Preset that doesn't step on any prior values in that brick. Adjusting a brick in a Preset overwrites the prior values. Better, I'd like a Preset that adds a new Levels brick and tweaks only the red setting. (Yes, I know I can lower the Red saturation in a very detailed manner in a the Color brick.)
How do I create a preset that creates a new instance of a brick?

Yes, your suggested 'NeilsGlyphs' solution also solves the issue but my quest was for an ad hoc Red adjustment, not deciding up front that the image might need some Red bias later.
So ... set the second Levels Brick to a null but enabled red adjustment.  Leave it untouched unless needed.
In truth, the functionality you want is built into the Levels Brick, but is not displayed.  If you apply Auto-Levels, you will see the histogram change (assuming Auto-Levels makes changes).  You can then use the drop-down to change to "red".  Red, Green, and Blue are each _separate_ controls in the Levels Brick.  You can make changes to the red channel -- they do not in any way change the settings in the (combined) Luminance control.  You can see this by using the drop-down to return to "Luminance".
Your "ad-hoc" red levels adjustment is always there, even after applying Auto-Levels.
In essence, you want separate contols for Luminance and for individual color channels.  I do to.  I'd like to see the Levels Brick have an expanded view -- just like the Colors Brick is -- showing all four Levels controls: Combined Luminance, R, G, & B.  That it doesn't (afaict) baffles me: short experimentation with the Brick will show you that all four controls are separately contained in the Brick -- they're just not viewable all at once.
NB: There is what I would classify as a bug in there as well.  The changes made to a color channel in the Levels Brick when they are made in addition to changes made to the (combined) Luminance channel are not picked up by the Lift & Stamp tool or when used in a Preset, even though the changes are applied to the Image.  The Levels Brick should be better implemented.

  • Importing MP4's - is there a preset or best practices?

    Hi
I have some mp4 footage that I need to edit. (Yes, I know it's less than ideal editing quality, but I'm using the footage -- btw it's for the web)
When I import it into Premiere it is not the usual avi size image. It's 320 x 240, so I have to transform it larger to fit the full screen: 720 x 480.
The output will be mp4 or flv and it will be downsized back to 320 x 240 for output (as I said, it's for the web).
Rather than having to transform the footage, and then downsize it once I get it ready for the web, is there a better way to import it into Premiere? So I won't have to go through the transforming (making it larger).
In other words is there a Mp4 preset that is already 320 x 240?
    Thanks

My phone (nokia n93) produces mp4s and PP2 would not import (unsupported format) Just tried with CS3 and it imports clips but as audio only. Elements supports mp4 - although if i want to use footage from the phone I convert to DV first - which fortunately is quite rare.
Looks like you are getting your mp4 into CS3 OK? Whats the source? Guess it's a codec thing. Try a new custom project with matching dimensions in CS3 to avoid the scaling up and down.

  • Aren't there supposed to be more presets in the Color FX room in ver 1.5?

Maybe I am crazy, but I thought there were more preset looks in FCS3?

I was under that impression, too... but maybe you have to go download 'em:
    *Built-in looks*
*Get started fast by choosing one of more than 20 looks provided as custom effects in the Color FX Bin. The looks, reminiscent of your favorite films, include Dream Warm, Day for Night, Warm Glow, and Movie Look Green for a science fiction feel. In addition, you can expand your library by downloading more than 90 new Apple-designed looks. Because you can easily customize any look, you can save time by using an Apple-designed look as a point of departure as you create a unique effect.*
With all due respect to Bob, I have only ever used a couple of the originals and then changed them, and then dropped using the COLORFX room except for Nattress chroma processing and just about nothing else.
