Adjustment Layer Equivalent for Dynamics Effect?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC2014
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
I often use the Dynamics Audio Effect.
Is there an Adjustment Layer like way to apply the Dynamics Effect?
Currently, I have to place the Dynamic Effect in each clip of an audio track.
If I make a change, I have to individually change the Dynamics Effect for each clip in the track.
Thanks in advance.

Click on the box to open up the effects menu.
If you want to add it to more than one track you could create a submix group and add the effect to that. I always put one on the master to control the main output level.

  • Layers Panel, Adjustment Layer Icon for Curves not working

Why in the layers panel, does the new adjustment layer icon for CURVES initiate the LEVELS dialog?  This seems to be a bug.

THanks for the prompt reply.  Your suggestion to "reset workspaces" worked.
    FYI, I'm working with Photoshop CS6 (v13.0.1 64-bit) on Windows 7.  The
problem happened with various documents, including yes an RGB/8 bit
example.  I feel stupid for not trying simple fixes, but I just upgraded to
CS6 and have experienced a couple of other issues (why did I need to
install ACR8.5 in order for RAW files from Canon 5D MarkIII to be
recognized when CS6 shipped with ACR7.1, for example?) so I had lost faith
and patience.   But all is well again and I have regained my composure.

  • Adjustment layer as parent?

    Hi,
Is it possible to make lots of layers point to one adjustment layer to dictate iwhich effects it has? I have tried using a Null layer - doesn't seem to work, Nor do adjustment layers. I am just really playing around with curves, hue sat and remove grain.
    Any help?

Not to do this and this only, but... I suspect you'll want to get fancy with it all , so learning about expressions is a lof of fun and it's a door to one of the most powerful aspects to AE.
In this case, you just have to use the expression pick-whip to connect each parameter with a expression control that includes an equivalent parameter. In other words, if your effect parameter (say Blurriness) uses a slider, you want to connect it to a Slider expression control effect. If it uses degrees, you want to connect it to a dial expression control, etc. Actually, nothing prevents you from using non-matching parameters (slider to dial, etc), but it's just not a good idea to start with.
Of course, an introduction to expressions in well beyond the reach of a forum post, but you can take a look at the Using Expression Controls Effects page and the whole Expressions section in After Effects Help, while we're at it.
Dan Ebberts, a frequent poster in these forums who IMO is the top guru in all things related to expressions, has an amazing web site covering expressions and scripting for different expertise levels.

  • Cc opacity keyframe on black and white adjustment layer doesn't work

    hi
i use premiere cc under w8.1 pro
well i noticed a strange behavior
i added an adjustament layer , black and white effect , and several keyframes
seems that premiere reads only the first one
    for example
    1) keyframe -> @0%  the second keyframe @100%  the video is all in color ,doesn't matter how many keyframes i add
    2) first key @100% second @0% (opacity) the video is all in black and white , again doesn't matter how many keyframes i add , only the first is read
i tried the black and white effect , on video ,titles and so on and it works perfectly , it doesn't work on the adjustament layer
i tried others effects on adjustament layer and they work
    is a bug ?
is there an known bug in prev. versions?
    thanks

    thanks i do it, saturation
but can't understand why this happen with adjustament layer only
may i know which cc version do you use?

  • Sharpen Adjustment Layer

    Hello
I've been searching for a way to apply a smart sharpen filter as an adjustment layer. So far it looks like it's not possible, but there's been a bit of info regarding smart object layers which may be able to do the trick. Anyone know if this can be done (non-destructively sharpening an image, the same way any other adjutsment layer works)

I recorded a smart sharpen adjustment layer action for CS3 been using it for years. You can download it look at it and make any changes you want. here a link http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/SharpenAdjustmentLayer.atn it has a couple of interactive steps the stop messages may be turned off. The sharpen adjustment layer is a smart object layer that is blended into the layer below in luminosity mode and its blend if adjusted to protect the highlights and shadows. There is also a filter mask which is an edge mask so the smart smart sharpen filter only sharpens edge areas.  Also added  a reveal all layer mask you can paint on to hide over sharpening, You can also adjust the effect by changing the layer opacity and fill. I tend to over sharpen a bit and adjust the effect. The action works on layered as well as flat documents looks like this:
Over sharpening with smart sharpen filter using a way to big radius and a the different blur mode not just lens blur can bring out brush strokes somewhat like Noel did and you can see a color preview.  I added a white layer so I can show what the luminosity layer looks like in an animated gif
Here the animated gif you may need to click on it to see the animation.

  • BUG- Alt clicking adjustment layer icons Not giving the opportunity to name the layer in CS6 Beta?

    Using Windows 7 Ult, 64-bit:
I notice when I alt-click an adjustment layer icon, the layer automatically drops in with a default name--rather than giving me an opportunity to type a name for the A/L via the "new layer" dialog box.  For example, in CS5, when you alt-click on the hue/saturation ajustment layer icon, you are given a dialog box in which you can name the layer, select clipping mask, blend mode, color select, etc--then the layer populates in the composition. In CS6 beta, when I hold the "alt" key and click the adjustment layer icon for hue/sat, I'm not getting the new layer dialog box at all.  Is this a bug or a modifier key change in CS6?

It should still work from the layers panel. You have to hold the alt key before going to the adjustments menu at the bottom of the layers panel.
It doesn't seem to work from the adjustments panel unless you use the flyout menu and then you don't have to add the alt key to get the dialog.

  • Adjustment layer in Premiere?

    Hi all,
I remember seeing a video where a Transparent/ black video/etc..was added to the above layer of all clips.
It would act as an adjustment layer.
I know I could Nest them, but that would mean I would loose the ability to move clips around unless I double click them.
I remember there was a way to add an adjustment layer in premiere.
    Anyone know?
    Thanks,
    lou

    > Then how would explain Adjustment Layers in AE and PS? Those are both
transparent layers to which you can apply effects and change the values
    of pixels in layers below.
FWIW, the way that an adjustment layer works in After Effects is that it takes the composited/rendered result of the layers beneath it as input and then operates on that single input just as if it were any other layer. A lot of people misunderstand, thinking that the adjustment layer is somehow reaching down into those underlying layers and affecting each of them individually. In fact, the way that most people explain adjustment layers is to say that "applying an effect to an adjustment layer applies the effect to all of the layers beneath the adjustment layer". As you can tell from my explanation of how they actually work, this isn't quite right. Also, you can see how applying an effect to a nested sequence is doing almost exactly the same thing as applying an effect to an adjustment layer.

  • I added an adjustment layer. Now it only letting me export as AAF?!

What does that mean? Alpha channel? I added an adjustment layer, black and white effects to my entire video. Now its only letting me export as AAF. It's also asking me whether to "embed audio" or "save as legacy file". What in the world does that mean and what should I choose? This is just a draft to show to client.

Ann, when I go to Export, I only get "AAF" and "Final Cut Pro XML" options...I don't see "Media" so that I can choose my options. In one movie, I have an adjustment layer on top of all movie. To make the movie black and white.
But another movie is just plain. And still I get only "AAF".
The first tim I went to export this movie, regular, I exported as .mov Now it's not letting me do that. What's going on? I have to show this to my boss in few hours...
    Thank you so much.

  • How do you duplicate a layer and then change its adjustment layer?

This used to be easy in PS7, but it's evasive in CS4. We occasionally need to duplicate a layer and then change the adjustment layer. For instance, we might have selected a section of an image and used brightness contrast and then need to create a new layer using the same section using selective color. What we have done in the past is duplicate the layer and then change the adjustment layer. Any ideas?

    You're great!
Thanks a million, we've been struggling with this for at least a year.

  • Adjustment Layer or fill layer for Effects

I have seen this question asked but not answered. I want to be able to apply and effect such as Boris or Sapphire across multiple clips. In AE this can be done with and adjustment layer in Avid by simply dropping the clip on an empty layer. I have seen it suggest that a sequence created with clips to be effect then cut back into the master sequence and then apply the effects. Must be a better way. Any sugestions?

Glad to have added some drama to the forum! But It keeps getting said that I don't care for the answer. I am glad for the answer but a little turned off by how some of you seem to feel it is necessary to respond. I asked a simple question and didn't need a lecture on how FCP is not Avid or AE, Duh!
I had done a quick search of the forums and had not found the answer to my question. I had read about nesting and wanted to know if this was in fact the best way to handle apply effects across multiple elements, seems it is. I also wanted to see if anybody else dealt with fx in a different way. I have been editing long enough and in enough different environments to know that no matter what program is being used you can find a number of editors doing good work with a number of different styles and techniques.
Am I not wrong when I say that nesting a single layer of video in order to apply fx is cumbersome? I do this kind of work a lot and and I end up making many revisions and yes I would prefer not to have to step into a nest in order to change my cut. Is that bitchy?
In the future please no advice. Who are you? My dad?

  • Need to create and adjustment layer to compensate for undesirable hue caused by lens

I’m looking for some help to set up an adjustment layer to compensate for a specific lens colouration issue. Basically I’m using a GoPro (on a drone) but I have fitted an aftermarket flat lens. Sharpness is good, but the lens has a well known issue – it results in pink hue around the edges/corners. Most of the time it is barely noticeable, other times it jumps out. It also depends on the monitor I am using eg. my TV seems to bring it out a lot more than my laptop.
Here is an example - look around 0:35 to 0:40 http://vimeo.com/117790732
And to try get an idea of where the issue is on the frame, I picked an example image of frost covered grass, very early in the morning. I then cranked up the saturation to 100% and this is what it looks like:
I would like to be able to compensate for this. Presumably this should done with an adjustment layer made in Photoshop which I can then import into Premier Pro. Can anyone advise as to how I do that?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jacques

    Hi Trevor
Thanks for your reply. I did what you suggested and created 2 masked adjustment layers which are basically concentric rings with differing levels of magenta reduction and I then feathered the edges. I have attached 2 images below to show the before and after effect. I’m working on getting this more accurate and I’m also going to look into the technique posted by Normfb. Big thanks to you Trevor for suggesting this – this is all quite new to me and it was very useful to play around with these adjustments layers, masks etc.

  • Adjustment Layer staying white and won't apply its effects to layering video?

Adjustment Layer staying white and won't apply its effects to layering video?
I was using adjustment layers for color correcting and now my adjustment layer is just staying white and I've looked at so many forums and i can't find what I'm doing wrong...
I reset my preferences, I made a new project I'm clueless.

That is After Effects but ..try openig the composition window (TAB)
You are looking at the AL in Footage Window.

  • Adjustment Layer for Shapes

    Hey Guys,
So I was having to change a bunch of properties of multiple shape layers and I was thinking, Wouldn't it be cool to have shape adjustment layers?
    Example:
You have 10 different shape layers  - 5 Squares and 5 triangles
Create a new shape adjustment layer and apply "round corners"
You can now very easily control the round corners for all layers without having to go into each layer
Then maybe you could have inclusions and exclusions - You could include all shape layers with "square_01" in the name, Then the shape adjustment layer would only effect the shape layers with "square_01" in the name.
I know you can kind of so this by creating multiple polygons under one shape layer but some times you need multiple shape layers.
Anyone else think this would be handy? Can you already do this and I am just ignorant ?
    Cheers

I would use property links to accomplish what you describe.
Property links were added in After Effects 12.1:

  • Colour management or adjustment layer for broadcast output

    Hi all,
I'm a bit confused about outputting broadcast safe colours and black and white levels. I am used to passing on my final render to a facilities house or an editor so am a bit green at this kind of thing.
In the help files it says its better to use color management so I've set my project settings/color settings to "SDTV PAL 16-235"
when I rendered out a few test stills and opened them in Photoshop to sample the colours, there are black levels of 0 rather than 16.
I've resorted to adding an adjustment layer to the top of the master comp and adding Broadcast Colors filter and adding Levels effect and setting Output Black to 16 and Output White to 235.
Is this an acceptable quick fix way of working?
I suppose I should have a look at color finesse when I get a moment
    thanks in advance

    Hi blabber,
Can you give me more info about step 2?  I would like to repro exactly what you are seeing here at Adobe.  How are you exporting your final animation?  What format, codec, etc...  Also small sample projects with single frames etc would be very useful.
