Adjustments not carried over to external editor?

I've noticed that all my adjustments are not carried over to my external editor (niksoftware). Is this intended? Is there an option I'm missing that would allow me to do so? Because basically this forces my workflow to first do any adjustment externally and then come back to aperture to do the aperture-specific adjustments. Is this how everyone does it?

This answered my own question, sorry for asking.

    Hi,
I have just downloaded the 5.1.7 update and saw the following
Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and will provide no further security or performance updates.
Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari.
So if you want it do it soon.

  • How can you sort bookmarks in the Sidebar by date added? Works in Library but does not carry over to Sidebar.

When opening the Bookmarks Sidebar, the oldest bookmarks added are at the very top, easily visible.
The most recent bookmarks added are at the bottom, requiring me to scroll all the way down every time I want to visit a recent bookmark. This is a major nuisance. I'm actually a little shocked that this happens when it's such an obvious hassle.
How can I flip the list of bookmarks so the newest ones are right at the top where I can easily access them?
Sorting in the Library does not carry over to the Sidebar as far as I can tell.

Looks as though the SortPlaces add-on should be able to do it.

  • Changes that i make to song display in iTunes, will not carry over when I sync to my ipad. This is only since i upgraded to ios7 and downloaded the latest itunes. Any ideas why?

I use my iPad for music when i teach my dance class. The default layout in the music program on iPad is: song title, artist and album. I need the name of the dance, so in iTunes, I right click on the song title, then choose "get Info".  I then edit the info and under album title I write in the dance name. Then when i sync the iPad still has the same three columns, but the info i need displays under the album column.  UNTIL i upgraded to ios7 and installed the latest iTunes.  When I synced last night, after adding new music, the songs that were already in the playlist, stayed the same. ALL the new songs were placed in the playlist but none of the info that i edited synced.  It shows it as i want it when i look at the playlist in iTunes, but it does not carry over after the sync.
I hope this makes sense and does anyone have any idea why?

Amazing! I'm a dance instructor and am doing the exact same thing as you - and not seeing what I need on my iPad Air ... I can't believe there has been no reply on this! I also can't believe there isn't an easy way of seeing track info in the iPad or iPhone but I've spent hours searching and am not finding anything

  • Batch Renames do not carry over to Finder

When I Batch Rename my photos in Adobe Bridge, the images file names appear to change in Bridge, but when I close out of Bridge and open my images in Finder the images keep their old names and do not carry over the new Bridge batched rename.
Can anyone tell me how to get my files to permanently change their names from Bridge to Finder?

Working across a server in general, is not supported by Adobe.
Bridge in particular is very sensitive to any problem(s) in your server configuration, which we cannot troubleshoot for you.
This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • DNG Conversion Of Sony ARW Not Carrying Over In Camera Lens Corrections

One of the great features of the Sony NEX-7 is that the NEX-7 makes automatic lens corrections for vignetting, chromatic aberration and distortion problems. These corrections are written to the file and the preview. However, when converting these images from ARW to DNG the correction data seems to be lost, and the images revert to their uncorrected state. This requires all images to then be re corrected with the Adobe lens profiles, which is both tedious, an extra step, and also seems to produce results that are somewhat less optimal than the original corrections made by the camera.
Should not the ACR Converter and Lightroom retain the lens corrections made by the camera?

    A Tonal wrote:
This is one of those confusing issues where the way Sony describes the feature makes it sound as though it's part of the ARW format, and the way Adobe describe ACR and DNG makes it sound like this would be one of those manufacturer specific details that DNG is supposed to convert into a the Adobe format.
Yes, that might be so. It's similar with the manual of my Nikon D600. Nowhere does it say explicitly that all these adjustments (including lens correction, Active D-Lighting, etc) work only for the JPGs. And it cannot be otherwise.
A Raw image is not defined yet, not written in pixels yet, heck it is not even an image.
The Raw image is only affected by the exposure, that's pretty much the only thing. Even White Balance is nothing but a metadata tag that - luckily - is read by Lr.
A DNG is Adobe's answer to the various Raw formats. But it is designed to behave like a Raw image. Therefore you cannot expect that camera settings that affect JPGs only carry over to DNGs.
    A Tonal wrote:
There are so many features on cameras that are only supported with JPG output that it almost makes it not wroth bothering with RAW, as by the time you get to the end of the process, with all the extra steps and work involved in handling RAW, you pretty much wind up with something that looks like a JPG anyway, and you had to give up using some of the camera's features to use RAW.
This shows that you don't understand what Raw is and what its advantages over JPG are.
I would recommend that you educate yourself about the advantages of Raw. Your photography would benefit from this, believe me.
Google "Why should I shot Raw?" and you will find lots of good webpages.
Finally, Raw shooting is much simpler than shooting JPGs where you always have to fiddle with the virtual 100s of different settings for JPGs.
What do you have Lr for? In Lr you can adjust your Raw image by looking at it on a large calibrated monitor, whereas for the settings in your camera you have to rely on a 3" monitor - at best.
Make your life simpler and your photography better: Shoot Raw.

  • External edit function not opening photo in external editor

Hi folks , hope you can help , my external editor function in lightroom 4 has stopped working ie It will open the external edit space but the image does not open in that space any ideas . Your help much appreciated

You cannot use iphoto that way. PSE can't open photos from iphoto because if it were to write to your iphoto library it could easily corrupt it and cause the loss of all the images there. You should NEVER poke around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto.
    You have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, not save as without changing the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, but you will need to lose the edits to revert back to the original. You will need to go to the PSE preferences>saving files and set On First Save to Save over existing to make this work. When you see the Save As window, something is wrong.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto, use file>open in the editor and make all the changes you want, then save your image in any format or with any name you like and import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new file. This lets you save as many versions of your photo as you like.

  • Elements 8 Organiser will not load Photoshop as External Editor

For some years I've succesfully used Photoshop CS2 with Elements (various versions) Organiser as my photo file manager.  The Organiser allowed me to select Photoshop as the external editor and subsequently accepted/managed the edited photos from Photoshop when I closed the file there.  (I prefer the facilities of Organiser to those of Bridge; and other folk in the household prefer Elements Editor).
I recently upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 64bit.  Initially Elements 8 Organiser (which is 32bit) continued to call up Photoshop (CS5) as the external editor but has now ceased to do so.  There is still an option in Organiser's dropdown EDIT list to "Edit in Photoshop" and any thumbnails selected in the Organiser get the "being edited" label applied if I select the "Edit with Photoshop" option.  However, Photoshop does not open;  or, if I have Photoshop open already, the photos selected in Organiser do not appear in the Photoshop workspace for editing.
I cannot, either, find the "close external edit" option in Organiser. When I eventually close Organiser, it warns that I will lose any editing done with the external editor to those photos it thinks it has handed to Photoshop, even though there has not been any handover in fact.
I can chose, in Organiser, to edit the very same photos with Elements Editor, even though Organiser appears to think that they are currently being edited by Photoshop.  If I do edit such a photo in Elements Editor then close it, the Organiser becomes happy and forgets it thought Photoshop was involved at all.
Is there some switch in a config file somewhere that I can throw to get the Organiser to actually call up Photoshop and hand it the file(s)?  Or is this just an Adobe glitch?  Any help or clues would be much appreciated.

NB  Also posted in the Photoshop CS5 forum.

    Graham,
I have tried to persuade Elements Organiser to reconsider Photoshop as an external editor by going to the "Editing" section of Elements Preferences dialogues and specifying Photoshop.exe.  However, no matter which version of Photoshop.exe I point at (64bit CS5, 32bit CS5 or even the old 32bit CS2) Elements tells me that it automatically already has Photoshop as an external editor and I don't need to specify it as such.
On trying to exit the Preferences/Editing dialogue, Elements then pops up another dialogue box that tells me that "The path you chose for the external editing application is invalid.  Please correct the path or choose another external editor".  I need to uncheck the "Use a supplementary editing application" to stop this box re-popping.
The Elements EDIT drop down menu still shows Photoshop as an available editing application.  However, as described in the original post, Photoshop does not load or pick up any file specified for Photoshop editing within Elements Organiser.
I've also tried resetting Elements Organiser Preferences to their default.  This does not make any difference to the problem either.  There is an Organiser glitch I think.  I am begining to think it will need a Registry fix ..... but of what I have no real idea; and it isn't a good idea to mess with the Registry in a haphazard way.
Perhaps I should try a reload of Elements from scratch, after saving my Catalogue file somewhere safe?

  • Just upgraded to PS CS5 from CS3 and LR will not recognize CS5 as external editor

I just upgraded from PS CS3 to CS5 then uninstalled CS3.  LR 2.7 is not recognizing PS (CS5) as the default external editor and I don't get the "edit as smart object in PS", "Open as layers in Photoshop", etc… options  when I right-click an image and select "edit in" as they are now greyed out.  I've tried to repair LR and reinstall but nothing makes it recognize PS CS5 as the default external editor.  Any ideas?  Thx in advance.

I ended up reinstalling CS5 and that solved the problem with one exception.  It is now the default external editor and I have the option to export to PS as a smart object - However, I do not have the options to export to PS in layers or export to PS as Photomerge or Export to PS as HDR.  I did have these options with CS3.

  • Is it possible to create a new List from another List's template and NOT carry over the associated Workflow?

    Related to
this post, in cases where it's desirable to have two different workflows for two different Lists—is it possible to NOT bring forward a hardwired workflow when creating a new List from a saved template?
I.e. List #2 still has the workflow from List #1 hardwired in.  List #1 still needs its workflow but List #2 wants to have a separate Workflow.

More importantly, because it's relatively easy for most folks to just start from scratch with a new Workflow—how does one disassociate a carried-over Workflow from the new List?
Use the web-GUI. (List Settings > Workflow Settings)
From Designer, there's a shortcut button at the top of the page in the Workflows tab: "Administration Web Page".

  • Session data not carried over. with IE6SP1 and WL7

    Hi,
We recently upgraded our clustered WL to WL7x and after that we started seeing

Is it anything due to P3P or is there any setting I should do at WL7 level for
this problem? When I do the URL rewriting this works fine but, as many are static

Any help on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

It doesn't seem to be a problem with serializable attributes though.
Also Weblogic doesn't use the distributable tag. So that should
    not matter too.
Can you investigate further and try to pinpoint the issue?

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 function does not carry over all Lightroom adjustments

    LR 3.3 with ACR 6.3
After selecting "Edit in CS5" I do not get the dialogue box asking if I would like to apply Lightroom adjustments.
Image opened in CS5 includes some adjustments from the Develop Module, but not the Transform Lens Corrections that I had applied.
Anyone have tips on how to fix this?
    Thanks much.

OK, I managed to figure it out.  I had been getting a warning box about Camera Raw 6.5, which my "about Lightroom 3..." shows that I have.  I had been selecting "open anyway" and was losing the transforms so I just tried "render using Lightroom" and it worked fine.

  • Lightroom 4 settings are not carried over to Photoshop CS5

When opening a raw and unedited file using the 'Edit in Photoshop' menu selection in Lightroom 4 the image opens as expected in Photoshop CS5. The images seem to look identical to me. If I then exit from PS without doing anything to the photo I am prompted to save the file. I do so and return to LR4. Comparing the original raw file and the tif created by PS they appear to be identical.
Next, I make some whitebalance, exposure, and cropping changes to the raw image in LR4. 'Edit in Photoshop' opens the image in PS CS5 but the image appears different. Cropping is there but other adjustements seem to me to be lost. Again clost the image without any editing in PS CS5 and am prompted to save the file. I do so and the saved tif appears in LR4 just as it looked in PS CS5. However they are different.
    I'm using a Windows 7 64  bit computer.

The most significant point is that the first time you go to Photoshop with an image, you start with one image inside LR and you end up with two - the original image, and a brand new edited version. Generally this is "Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments"; in other words, something that looks the same as the LR starting image currently does, as a starting point for PS alteration.
Subsequent times you take this edited version of the image back to Photoshop, the Edit In.. feature automatically switches to "Edit Original" as default behaviour. This is so that you don't get a whole family of fresh image versions appearing in LR, and a whole cluster of TIFF files on disk. Just the same image progressively changing over time, as PS work is done.
A PS-edited version seen newly in LR, starts out with zero applied LR adjustments - so it appears at first, exactly as PS has just saved it.
Say (to help clarify this ) you make a virtual copy at this point - and apply some more LR adjustments onto that. You can now see three versions: [1] the starting original which did not go to PS; [2] an untouched version of the PS edit, which has so far been left alone by LR; and [3] another version of the same PS edit, this time with some new LR adjustments overlaid.
If you push the image back to PS for some more editing, save that, and return to LR then both versions [2] and [3] are going to update so as to reflect this later editing. That is because both are deriving their underlying content in a live manner from the same file on disk, which has since changed.
While you are editing any file within PS you are always viewing the actual content of that file. This will naturally look the same as the untouched LR version [2] does. But it will not look the same as the adjusted LR version [3] does - because the live LR settings which cause [3] to look different to [2], are not included in the PS file which they share. They are separate from that - they are being nondestructively applied and displayed on-the-fly by Lightroom only, and in this example, only in the case of one of the two derived versions.
