Admin Password not accepted when unlocking X509Anchors keychain

Hi,
Has anyone encountered this before that the X509Anchors Keychain installed from System/Library/Keychains do not see the Admin password as valid? The other keychains accept the Admin Password as valid except for X509Anchors.
Any help or pointers on this question is highly appreciated.
regards
Gal

This is an should be an easy fix. Go to System Preferances and choose users and groups. Click on the lock and type in the admin details. Then click on your account and change the password. Sorry if this doesn't work.

  • Admin password not accepted in Parental Controls 10.8.2

When logged in to my kids accounts I am trying to make changes to System Prefs and open allowed apps. (those I have ticked as allowed in Parental Control prefs) and the admin name and password is rejected and I get the 'wobble box'! Arghhh!!!!!!!
The same admin. name and master password are accepted when logging in to my main account and everywhere else...just not in parental controls. None of the ticked allowed items can be opened by parental controlled accounts.
Makes the parental controls totally unusable.
    Bug! Bug! Bug!

  • Admin password not accepted anymore - but it's correct

    Hi,
i have a strange problem in Lion 10.7.5:
My admin password is not accepted anymore in Lion. Whenever i'm asked to enter the Admin password, the window closes (therefore: no "wrong password" message or something else) but the process isn't continuing (for example an installation). There is no change or progression.
The password is definitely correct, i was also able to change it or use it in the terminal (where it is accepted). But i'm still not able to use it within Lion.
Tried also to boot in single-user mode and change the password there via "passwd username" but i'm getting a "The daemon encountered an error processing request" error message.
Read somewhere else, that i should repair permissions and/or keychain first aid. Tried both but the problem still exists.
Does anyone have another idea? I really don't want to restore my system... Actually, how can i do this without an installer disc? Purchased my imac with lion pre-installed - i guess i would have to reinstall all my applications?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Reset admin password but can't unlock old keychain

I recently tried to install software for a new printer onto my old eMac. (Mac OS X Version 10.2.8, 640MB, 700MHz, Power PC G4). The printer installer needed my admin password for the eMac, which I'd forgotten. I booted the Emac up using the original install disc for Mac OS X and changed the password successfully (printer is working fine), but now there's 2 things:
    1. every time I turn on the computer, it requires my password, even though I've checked the auto log box in System Preferences>System>Accounts
    2. Entourage requests my password for my email account as well as my keychain password, which I don't remember because it was likely the same as the old password I also didn't remember.
I've tried deleting everything that was listed in the Keychain Access application, and restarting the computer but the access remains locked.
    Any thoughts?

I remembered the original password and now the keychain is unlocked and its not asking for username and password every time I turn on either.

  • Password not accepted when trying to log off another user

Sometimes I want to shut down while another user is logged in and it asks for admin password. I type in correct password and it says it is invald. Password works the rest of the time. Any suggestions?

found this on the internet. I'm going to try it now.
This might make more sense then the Apple Support Document.
    Insert Your Leopard DVD.
Shutdown and restart holding down C
    pick your language
from the menu go to Utilities
    Pick reset Password
Pick your hard drive (mines Macintosh HD)
From the users list select system Administrator
Enter a password and renter it and select reset
    Quit password reset
    Then quit OS x installer
    Click the restart button
When your system restarts go to system preferences
Accounts and click the unlock button (the padlock in the bottom left hand corner)
It will ask for user name and password
For user name use the name Roots and the password you entered in the password reset.
This should unlock all the greyed out menus.
Check the Allow changes box to give you back Admin status.
    Restart your computer.
This worked for me without another install. Hope it helps.

  • Admin login not accepted when shutting down multiple users

    Hi all
This one is curious. I have a client with a MacBook Pro, 10.5.7, on which she has an admin account and a standard account for guests. I also have created an admin account so I can run updates without needing her password. Both admin accounts work just fine and authorize correctly for logging in, making system updates and unlocking system preferences.
However, when she's been using Fast User Switching to go between the admin and standard accounts, and the standard account is still logged in, trying to shut down from the admin account gives the dialog "There are currently logged in users who may lose unsaved changes...". This dialog presents a blank user and password (ie, the admin name is not auto-filled), and the trouble is, entering ANY of the admin names and passwords (which, remember, work fine in other contexts) results in an "Invalid user name or password" window.
None of the names have non-ASCII characters, and I've tried both short and long versions of the names. I even created a new admin user, and tried that, and it also failed. I have repaired permissions.
Anyone know what might be going on?
EDIT: I should have checked the KB first - apparently it's a known issue. I'll try this and report back.

    Thanks!

I have found that sometimes the full administrator name is required, not the short name.
I don't know why - I thought my short name used to work.

  • Password not accepted when trying to download upgrades via Software Update

I haven't been able to download the latest versions of Safari, Quicktime, Java for Mac OS X 10.4, etc. because when I attempt to do so, my password isn't accepted in the verification dialog.
I am 100% positive I'm using the correct password.
What is causing this? How do I fix it?
    Replies appreciated.

    Hello, see if these help...
Open Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Window Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

  • WRK54G - password not accepted when saving settings

    Hello,
My WRK54G router is now presenting this problem: When I enter the ip address to access the web interface, I enter the user (admin) and the password for admin and I can log in without any problems.
When I make any changes and click on [Save Settings], the page asks for the password for user 'admin' again, which has never happened before. I entered the password three times and I get an error page in read with the message "401 Authorization Required". I wouldn't like to have to reset my router, so I appreciate any help here.
    Thanks!!
    Will

You dont need to enter any username, only enter the password as admin.
In case you are not able to save changes and needs username & password, try this:-
Open Internet Explorer - Go to tools -Internet Options - Security - Custom Level.
Search for User Authentication and select Anonymous logon - Click Ok. Click Ok.
Restart the browser and try again.

  • Password not accepted when trying to download updates. Security question answer not recognized.

I have been unable to update my software or downloads for many months now.  I try to log in, but it won't recognize my password.  When I answer the security question, it will not recognize that answer either.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

The best place to go for immediate support or when it's likely you'll need to discussion confidential information about your account is Live Chat at <http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=muse&topic=using-my-product-or-service> and click on "I still need help…" and then "Chat now".
If that's not an option for you, then please provide a bit more info. Where is the login failure occurring? Are you unable to login to http://creative.adobe.com? Are you able to login to the Creative Cloud desktop app? Is the failure only at the point Muse ask for login credentials at first launch?

  • Password not accepted when downloading new apps

I recently changed my password and am able to update my apps. But - when I want to download/purchase a new app (free or paid), there is a popup prompting me for my password. When I enter my new password, it isn't accepted. Any solutions?

Did you change the password that is stored in Settings/iTunes & App Stores?

  • Apple id password not accepted on icloud

why is my apple id password not accepted when I try to login to iCloud? The same password worked when I tried to login to support to post this question!

If Settings>iCloud is showing your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Hard Drive password not accepted in new W530

I am moving a hard drive from a W500 to a W530 laptop.  The hard drive has a password on it and it works fine on the W500. When I put the drive in the W530 laptop, it does not accept the password on boot up. If I move the drive back to the W500, it all works fine.  This is a 1TB drive, so I'm hoping I can still use it! Thanks for any help here.

Good afternoon and welcome to the community.
Since the HDD password is accepted when it's installed in the W500, why not pull off the password in BIOS there, reinstall the drive into the W530 and then set the password in the W530's BIOS?
    Regards.

  • Cant restore back up from iCloud as password not accepted

when trying to restore an 1phone 5s from iCloud back up my password is not accepted..i then go to iforgot, change my password retry the restore process and get the same issue.I have tried turning find phone off, starting again but still cant access back up because password not accepted.

I can't change my DNS settings. I'm trying to restore while setting up my phone. If I change the DNS settings while on the phone, and then restore the phone and try to restore from the back-up on my iCloud, it won't save that I've changed settings to use Google's public DNS. I would log onto my university's secure wifi instead of their guest wifi, but unfortunately I can't. because that involves an installation, which I can't do if I restore my phone and am trying to set it up.

  • Gmail Error: Username and Password Not Accepted?

Okay, once in a while my e-mail actually works on my I phone but about 90% of the time I get this notification; Cannot Get Mail: Username and password not accepted. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Oh yeah, I'm using 1.0.2, gmail, and I'm positive my password and username is right.

I think the problem is solved. Last night I was on my friends computer and I accidentally stored my gmail password. I couldn't figure out how to delete it so I changed my password and then updated my iPhone with the new password. Ever since then I haven't had any problems.

  • I am not able to access my Ipad as it says that icloud has not been backed up and it does not accept when i click ok

i am not able access my ipad as it says that the icloud has not been backed up. it also does not accept when i click ok.

Try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
When it's rebooted you can force a backup via Settings > iCloud
