Admin password not working, Locked out.

Hi to all. I have a real big problem. I upgraded to Tiger 10.4.8 then was not happy with the result (computer to old really to handle Tiger) so i did the downgrade to Panther 10.3. Now the Mac will not recognize my password. I have gone into the password section in disc utility, ( c key held while starting and saved a new password, but it does not let me in with this either, All i see is the log-in page and can get no further. I know its my fault, and i have learnt from this, but is there any way to re-install Panther and get it going again? Any help would be appreciated,

Done a total re-install. Lost all my prog & data, but have my Mac back Thanks

  • HP Touchsmart 600-1047 - Password does not work - Locked out

I read all the posts and did not find this particular issue. I powered down my PC, unplugged it, and pushed the power button to remove all electricity. Turned it on, chose my user account, and entered my password. I know I am entering the correct password because I has just used it 15 minutes prior, however, it will not accept that password. I cannot perform the change password because my cd/dvd drive does not work and I do not have a disk anyway. Please help!!! Thank you!

    Hello msnhra31.
This is bummer. You need to do a factory restore.  Because you can not excess any Windows. Turn on your computer and tap your f-11 key. This will automatically start your recovery manger.  Use a simpler pass word when you reset up your computer.  Make it so you do not accidentally hit other keys while typing in your new pass word.  If your cd/dvd drive was working you are given that option to back up your personnel files. Are you sure it does not work. These computers are fussy and only use Memory EX Cd-R / DVR discs. They won't play DVD's movies or open up software disks. Unless it has certain codes. I purchased an usb cd/dvd drive witch cost alot less then purchasing the update for hp's player. If your computer's cd/dvd (optical drive) is bad I recommend you to buy an usb external hard drive. That way you will always have your personnel stuff stored on it.
Have fun restoring your computer. At first it will be unstable until it downloads 244 updates so bare with it.  Your Internet Explorer 8 will defiantly be hard to use because we currently on Internet Explorer 11-12 . So I recommend to down load fire fox to use until your windows gets updated.

  • Help with admin password i am locked out

i have windows 7 home premium and have locked myself out of my computer and do not remember my administrator password and can not find it.

i have windows 7 home premium and have locked myself out of my computer and do not remember my administrator password and can not find it.
There are numerous options built into Windows to help you get out of this predicament:
Reboot the machine with your Windows Repair CD, then use System Restore to set Windows back by a few days (works only if you changed the password recently).
Log on under your spare admin account, then reset the password to your usual account (works only if you set up a spare admin account).
Log on as Administrator in Safe Mode, then reset the password to your usual account (the password is usually blank).
Insert your USB flash disk with the password keyfile (works only if you took the time to create such a keyfile).
Use the password hint (works only if you created a hint and if it is good enough to let you guess the password)
Check your paper records (works only if you jotted down the password somewhere)
Ask your friendly computer dealer to reset the password for you.

  • Oracle ses Admin password not working

    Hi,
The ip address of my machine has changed. So, the admin and search pages were not opening up since they have old ip address.
So I went to the files and changed all the occurences of old ip with new one. I was not able to change it in .dbf and .lock files.
After that, when I try to login through admin page, the password is not working.
Getting "Login failed. Check the log file for more information." Which log file to check for?
    Please suggest some workaround.
    Thanks,
    Shyamala

The log file is the oc4j log file in $SES_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_SEARCH/log. See more info here.
Is this Windows? Before installation, you should have set up a loopback network adapter, as per the install guide. The setup would then have been immune to changes in IP address.
If the server name is hard coded into the various config files, it's easy enough to add an entry to the HOSTS file.
For example have a look in %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\listener.ora. You might find a line
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = DHCP_HOST_12345)(PORT = 1521))
This means the machines host name was supplied by DHCP and is no longer valid. If so simply make an entry in your hosts file
(C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts or /etc/hosts) which looks like
    127.0.0.1 dhcp_host_12345
That will force it to loop back to the local machine for all references to dhcp_host_12345
If you've actually got hard-coded IP addresses in the config file, things are a little harder. See what's in the oc4j log file and I might be able to suggest how to continue.

  • Admin Password Not Working After Upgrade

So two days ago I decided to upgrade to Yosemite on my less than 3 month old macbook. Two days of pain.
After starting the upgrade, it got stuck on the reboot at the screen with the apply logo and the status bar at around 50%. I let it sit over night, tried multiple reboots, nothing would get it going.
I rebooted in recovery mode and did a reinstall. It ended up installing yosemite. However when I login none of my files or settings are there. If I log out and log back in again, my desktop shows up and my downloads (but no iPhotos).
When I go to users, I see two accounts with my name. 1 is the admin and the other says standard. The strange thing is the picture next to the admin account is the picture that shows up when logging onto the computer. However the current user shows a different picture. The problem is that I can't make any changes as my admin password isn't working (although I can login with it).
    Any suggestions?

    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
The above comes from an article published on MacFixit.com.

  • Admin Password not working, Resetting password not working

Out of nowhere my G4 required me to login (I never had to previously). I tried every password I have ever used and nothing worked. I took it into the Omaha genius bar, and the nice gentleman used the install disk (I think it was a 10.4 install disk) to reset my password. When we resarted we weren't required to type in the password, so he assumed it was fine.
I started my computer once at home and it was fine. When I did a restart, I was required to login. The login does not recognize the new password. I tried ressetting the password, but it doesn't seem to take. It doesn't give me a warning, but when I try to login, it doesn't work. This is super frustrating. I can't find the 10.4 install disk, so I was just using the computer's original install disk to change the admin password.
Any suggestions to actually change the password or to figure why it isn't recognizing the password?

I can't find the 10.4 install disk, so I was just using the computer's original install disk to change the admin password.
I am assuming these original disks that came with a Quicksilver may be as early as OS 10.1. I imagine password setting is a pretty fundamental process to any version of OSX but I would feel very uncomfortable about doing anything to a Tiger drive with an earlier OS version. Would be interesting to test, but not on my computer!

  • Admin Password not working, need to check settings

Hi this is my first post so go easy on me.
I have recently experienced a dramatic drop in my wifi speed, I contacted BT customers support who carried out checks to my broadband system and couldn't find anything wrong, I contacted them again last night and they carried out a remote desktop access via a lap top and checked the system and said again that its all ok.
I have been reading this forum over that last couple of days and I have been trying to access the settings on my router but the "admin password" is not allowing me access!!!!!
I have reset the modem and pressed the "reset to default" button and it still won't let me in.
I have a home hub 2 and the external speed using BT's speed test is 8.25meg but my wifi speed has is only allowing me just under 1 meg and sometimes 1.8meg.
Before this drop in speed I was able to view HD with 5.1 sound from my mac to my apple TV instantly via wifi now this is a non event and all other equipment used throughout the house is nearly rendered useless.
Any idea how I can get into the settings so I can post up my details for you experts to look at and give me some pointers.
It is a little bit awkward for me to connect everything up via ethernet but can be done if required (but would render air play useless)
    Thanks in advance

  • SES 10.1.8 Admin password not working

    Hi,
I installed SES 10.1.8 on my Windows 2000 machine and installation goes thro fine. For the Admin user, I specified the password as "welcome1" and it does not work when I try to login the Admin module. Can someone provide some pointer about How to debug?
I have an existing XE database using port 1521 and also an instance of SOA Suite 10.1.3 with its own Lite Database.
Can there be any potential issues with the SES DB installation/port etc.? How to debug?

  • Admin password not working

My hp laserjet 1300 printer suddenly stopped working - I would push print and nothing would happen, seems the printer wasn't recognized though it was listed as an available printer.
I downloaded drivers for it from hp's site, but now when I try to install the drivers and I'm asked for the password to install, it tells me "the software to be installed requires administrator or higher level access privileges."
But I AM the administrator, and there is no other on this mac!
I went to NetInfo Manager and tried to begin the process for logging in as root. It won't accept my admin password there either to enable root.
However, I have just tried a software update, and my password was accepted just fine.
Anybody have a clue what I can do?
Thanks! (I'll be checking back tomorrow night)

Insert your install DVD and reboot while holding down the C key. After you pick your language, search the menus for a Reset Password option.
Suggestion: Never, never, NEVER let young children have unsupervised access to your user account! Give them their own user account (non-admin) to play in instead. Non-admin users can do nothing to screw up anything outside their own home folders.

  • Admin password not working with latest Tiger upgrade on reboot.

    Hi all,
I have just upgraded to the latest Tiger version and on rebooting to complete the install, I am asked for my password so Tiger can access the system.
My problem is that my password does not work, regardless of variations used.
When I hit "cancel" I can use the computer as normal however I guess the update process is not complete.
This very same password works with all other functions (software installs etc.)
If I restart the computer, Tiger again asks for the password.
    Help! Thank you.

Same thing happened to me! See my post at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1254801&#1254801. I still haven't recovered from this. I booted from the install CD and reset the password, but that didn't help. Finally I booted into single-user mode so I could look at log files. I keep seeing things like this in /var/log/system.log:

...etc... the common messages seem to be "dsFindDirNodes returned -14071" and "Couldn't find root user."
This totally *****! I expect my PC to break when I use Windows Update, but I expect (and have generally experienced) better from Apple!

  • Windows 7 deployment- Local Admin password not working, no way to assign domain admins

I have SCCM 2012 configured for OS deployment of a Windows 7 64x enterprise image. I am using boot media (cd) since PXE boot was not an option in this office. Deployment seems to work fine except that despite selecting "Enable the account and specify
the local administrator password" I cannot login to the imaged system as Administrator. I tried several different passwords, and leaving the password field blank. Because of this I cannot add the domain admins as local admins and thus I cannot change
any major settings on the PC. I have created multiple task sequences, redeployed the source files, tried two different machines (a desktop and a laptop) and have disabled or adjusted just about every part of the task sequence at least once.
I'm pasting a recent SMSTS.log file, though it has an error 0x80070002 error in it I am not sure if this is related.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue, or workarounds to assign local admins would be helpful. I have already tried adding in some command lines like "cmd /c net localgroup administrators /add "etoo\Administrators" and "cmd /c net
localgroup administrators /add "localhost\username"" to various points in the sequence without any success.

I suspect that your keyboard layout isn't configured correctly so that's why your "Enable the account and specify the local administrator password" doesn't work, check the keyboard layout on the login screen of the client you're trying to log in to...
There are several ways of adding local admins to the client during  OS deployment:
"Apply the windows settings" -task sequence step
    unattend.xml (http://sybaspot.com/the-complete-guide-to-preparing-a-windows-7-deployment-image-using-audit-mode-and-sysprep-with-an-unattend-xml-answer-file/)
"Run a commandline" -task sequence step, after the Setup Windows & ConfigMgr step (cmd /c net localgroup "Administrators" "domain\user" /add)
    And after OS deployment:
    Restricted groups group policy (http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles-tutorials/windows_os_security/Using-Restricted-Groups.html)

  • Admin password not working from initial install of CF 11

I have just done an install of CF 11 three times today and the password that is created during the install does not authenticate.  I have read several posts, some of which date back to May 2014.  Is there not a hotfix for this issue?  Certainly the recommendation for changing a browser is understood as I am using IE, but still what about the hotfix?

    Try this:
Navigate to the webroot of your site.
Take a backup of web.config and open it with text editor (notepad etc)
Comment the entry for mimeType extension of ".air" like <!--<mimeMap fileExtension=".air" mimeType="application/vnd.adobe.air-application-installer-package+zip" />-->
Save the file and restart IIS.
Launch CF Admin and try to login.
