"admin" profile on 9216

I have created a new user with network-admin role. Now can I delete the admin user. Intially the admin profile was messed-up. Using admin, able to login to Fabric Manager but not CLI. Pls. suggest.

I've run into similar problems before. First of all, know that there are 2 seperate passwords for each user - one for the CLI and one for Fabric Manager. If you are trying your FM password to log into the CLI, it won't work. (I think this went away in 2.1?) If you can log into the CLI with your new network-admin account, I would try to reset the password for the admin account. I'm not sure if you can delete it or not - I'd have to look it up, but my gut tells me you should be able to. Resetting the passwords should work though... Syntax like this:
username admin password 5 thisismypassword role network-admin
See page 23-5 of the Command Reference for details.

I just upgraded to FF 5.0, and now I cannot use it on my kids' windows profile (closes, not crashes on loading any page), or my wife's profile (won't open at all). On my profile (an admin profile on this computer) it works just fine.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 won't open under my current admin profile.

I recently installed Adobe CC 2014 suite on my Windows 7 OS. All the programs open properly with the exception of Illustrator CC. The error message I get is:
Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Since receiving this message I have gone through other forum posts and have tried all (below) with no remedy.
Uninstalled using Windows Uninstall Program followed by Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and reinstalled. (I’ve done this numerous times. I also removed any prior software versions (CS5) along with preceding software preferences.)
All of my OS drivers have been updated.
Monitor, Processor and GPU Drivers are updated. NOTE: I’m running an Intel Core i7 960 3.2GHz processor and an AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series GPU.
I’m running my workstation as an admin user, however created a shared user group so InDesign would open properly. (This was my other problem I was having up until a few hours ago.)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Verdana and Tahoma TTF fonts.
I am not running or have installed any 3rd party plug-ins.
I read a forum post that said you can get around this problem by creating a new admin account. I did and was able to open Illustrator under that profile; however I’m still unable to open it under my existing admin account. How can I get around this? There must be a way to get Illustrator to open in my current account.
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. I’m now on day No. 2 trying to get this solved.

    Hello Mylenium,
Is this what you need to determine what is causing Illustrator CC to crash upon opening the program?

  • Can't sync iPad after iOS upgrade to7.0.2 - repeated authorisation prompt - using admin profile, file SC info does not exist

    Hello,
After I upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 I can't sync iPad mini with PC (on Windows XP). I keep getting the folowing message: "The iPad could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchase items on this iPad". I tried everything:
    1) De-authorizing and rebooting (about 100 times);
    2) De-installing and reinstalling itunes;
    3) Deactivating the firewall;
    4) Run Diagnostics (result - all works fine including sync);
    5) Tried to look for the "SC info" directory or file everyone is referring to in the Computer (Hidden files) of the iTunes directory - nothing;
    6) Ticking and unticking the |Sync over Wi-Fi" option;
    7) Changing backup from iCloud to this Computer and back.
I am using the admin account on my PC - doesn't help.
I cannot sync anything at all.
BTW - on the PC and on the iPad - everything that is there plays OK. I can get stuff from iStore both from iPad and from the PC - but I can't sync the two.
It looks like an iOS 7 bug to me - any ideas or advice?
    Thanks.
    D.

No I have tried multiple connections, at home, at work, and even at my church but to no avail.  For example I have recently purchased a CD from Itunes using my computer, but my ipad will only play it from the cloud.  I've tried to download straight from my Ipad and that too does not work.  When ever I try to plug the Ipad into the computer a window pops up and says that the sync has failed.  If I try to drag the file to the Ipad it will say it's loading than just quit before it transfers.  hmmm.  I hope they get this bug fixed some.  would really like to have that CD to isten to on the go.   Another issue I am no having is the apps are having trouble updating.  I have tried to turn off auto update and do it manually and that too is failing.

  • My Mac Mini runs great except for on the admin user profile, WHY?

My mac mini runs great on any other profile axcept for the admin profile. It's very frustrating because that's where all of MY pictures, documents and links were! Can anyone offer any help?

    Hi,
Thanks for the link to MacPilot, and the sexy screenshot. I found an archived version for 10.4 on the koingosw website. That solves getting into single user/safe mode. Though I'd be interested to see whether sudo nvram boot-args="-s" will result in single user boot.
As for creating administrator priveleges for my new user account, I've found a method which looks good:
         \single user mode\
         cmd-s
         \mount drive\
         mount -uw
         \open 'directory access'\
         lauchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectory.plist
         \list users\
         ls /Users
         \change password\
         dscl . passwd /Users/<username> <password>
I think that this method intends that if I change the root users password I'll be changing the administrator password  (as root is the only user with administrator priveleges), and subsequently be able to change my new user accounts priveleges using 'netinfomanager'. But I'm not 100%. Could you give me your opinion on this?
Furthermore, three keys 'L' 'O' and '(' aren't working on my keyboard, which means I can't try this until I find an intact keyboard to borrow. I was thinking maybe a mod version of the above instructions would work in terminal using sudo, so I could use the keyboard viewer to type the missing characters. If you have any ideas on constructing such a mod I would be interested to hear them.
Otherwise, Thank You for your help BDAqua! And enjoy your summer wherever you are.

  • Problems with second (admin) user profile

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble with a certain user profile. I got a new MacMini with Lion (10.7), to which I imported two user profiles from a Time Machine backup of a Snow Leopard system. The first profile, which used to be the admin profile on the old Mac, works just fine. But the second profile, which used to be a "normal" user profile encounters massive problems. First thing I did was to make the second user admin as well, but that did not fix anything. I assume there is a problem with the permissions and "repair permissions" didn't do anything either.
Here are some examples of the issues:
First example: I cannot delete or rename folders in Mail, unless I delete or rename them in the respective ~/Library folder. This concerns folders which I imported from the Time Machine backup. There are no issues with new folders.
Second example: I cannot start SPSS, which runs just fine on the other profile. It starts and then just closes right away without any error message or anything. I found a workaround which is to start the program with a rooted terminal command ("sudo /Applications/..."). There is no problem with Java (which would be common) and there are no license issues. I found an article in some other forum which stated that SPSS reads and writes in its preference folder at startup and closes right away if permissions are denied for that folder.
Third and most annoying example: I cannot permanently delete or create icons in the dock. I can remove or create icons temporarily, but after restarting the Mac, the new icons are gone and the deleted items are right back where they were.
Does anybody have any idea on how to fix this?
In the short run, It'd be very helpful if anyone could tell me how to create dock icons with a Terminal command.
I thank you in advanced for helping me out. Every little hint is appreciated.
    Sebastian
PS: I have not tried to setup a new user profile instead of the second profile, yet. With all the programs and preferences that would take at least two days and I need to keep the Mac running. I would only do it as a very last resort.

Well i went ahead and made that new admin like you said and I set it up and transfered only the files that I thought were important to me, Then i went ahead and fixed or repaired the permissions On the new admin user name and deleted my other admin profile with the key board issue.I fixed the permmissions  with an OSX Lion boot disk instead of lion because I don't have the Mountain lion DVD anymore. Every thing seems ok but was that a smart move or will that come back to haunt me?
Now what Im worried about now is I didnt keep any of the certificates or anything in that nature, So My final question is What should i do now to hands down lagitimanetly make This the offical ADmin with all keys and things of that nature that make it the main one?
Thank you so much and I'll watch my jokes from now on... I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings,

  • How do I move an iPhoto library between two users (secondary user to admin user) on the same mac?

    Hi there,
I accidentally created a second profile for myself on a mac some time ago in a migration and am now starting to move all my files from the second profile to the admin profile.
I want to move my iphoto library from the secondary user to the admin user but I don't know which file to move.
Is it as simple as copying the iphoto library in the pictures directory to the shared users drive and then copying that file over to pictures directory in the admin profile?
What if there already is an iphoto library under the admin user? Should I uninstall iphoto, then copy the file over and then install iphoto?
What is the best way of doing this?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Philip

Is it as simple as copying the iphoto library in the pictures directory to the shared users drive and then copying that file over to pictures directory in the admin profile?
    Yes.
What if there already is an iphoto library under the admin user?
Are there photos in this Library? If not, overwrite it. If there are then you'll need to rename one of the libraries to prevent overwriting. Then you can use iPhoto Library Manager to merge them
Should I uninstall iphoto, then copy the file over and then install iphoto?
    No.

  • Created a new user profile but it does not show on Login screen or fast sw

I have created a new profile that I want to be an admin profile. The creation of the profile went ok. I can see and edit the profile. When I reboot or logout, the login menu only show the inital profile that I set up when I got the system. The new user id also does not show up when I go to my fast switch menu.
My original user id is set to automatically logon when the system is started. I did try and set the new userid to be the one that started automatically on bootup and then both profiles appeared in the startup menu and fast switching menu.
If I switch back to having my original user id be the id that automatically logs in on bootup then the new user id disappears again from the login and fast switch menus. I really don't want to startup on my admin id.
    Any ideas?

No not yet. I am still researching the problem. I was hoping someone in the discussion forum could help. Let me know if you find a resolution.

How can I get access to my user profile? do I need to createa new Administrator account? Please help
The EventSystem sub system is suppressing duplicate event log entries for a duration of 86400 seconds. The suppression timeout can be controlled by a REG_DWORD value named SuppressDuplicateDuration under the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\EventSystem\EventLog.

    hi do the following
    1. In Search programs and files (Windows 7) area, type in regedit, and press Enter.
    2. If prompted click yes,
    3.  expand the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    4. click the sid that related to your admin profile (if you not sure, click each sid and in turn look to the right hand side of registry editor it will show who that sid is related to one of the registry files should hae in description localhost\admin or
    something similair)
    5. right click the sid and press delete.
    6. restart your machine and log back on with the admin account, this will then rebuild the admin profile... dont worry when it loads and none of your personal settings are saved or files or folders... go to c:\users
in here you will see two folders for the admin account, one will be just admin and the other most likely admin.localhost
i cant remember which one is which but just check both, one will still have all your files and folders in it.
i suggest making a backup of your data before doing this incase something does go wrong, but ive had this happen many times in a domain enviorment and has worked for me everytime.

  • Creation of custom security profile

    Hi,
During creation of the security profile, there is field 'internal name' .
What is the significance of this field and how the internal name should be maintained. As this field becomes display once the security profile is created.
    Pointers will be appreciated.
    Rgds,
    Madhan

    Hi Madan
Internal name is used by the system to identify a profile. While creating a new profile e.g. System Administrator_XYZ which is lets say based on the original system admin profile but with limited rights (to be given to a few users), you can extend the original internal name and extend it for e.g. fci.profile.admin.xyz
    Hope this helps!

It started with getting the error 2324, so I was able to get the removal completed after several tries.  Now when I go to install the newest version of iTunes, I get told that I need to be an administrator to complete it.  Problem is I AM THE ADMIN, as I am the only person on the computer.  There are no hidden admins, profile is just me (guest is turned off), nobody else is capable of logging in.
So what is going on with this install???  I have looked around and there seems to be an abundance of users getting frustrated with iTunes install.
I have a Asus Altec, running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 4 Gb memory.  Help me before my dad decides to reimage my system, please.

Now when I go to install the newest version of iTunes, I get told that I need to be an administrator to complete it.
What's the precise text of that error message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • Sync difference (bug?) in the case of admin and user under Windows XP x64. Sudden loss of bookmarks.

I have just found a problem (a bug?) when syncing my Firefox 11.0 on home desktop under Windows XPx64. Under administrator profile everything is OK. But under the user profile a HUGE amount of bookmarks is lost somewhat suddenly. Just a month ago everything was in the perfect state under the user profile as well.
No problems for portable devices (Android and iPad) and office notebook (WinXP, admin profile) detected.
I would appreciate any hints or help on this since I don't do routine work under admin rights on my home desktop.

Well, resetting sync can solve this problem. Though certain parts of local history on this computer may be lost.
