Admin rights required to run vi's?

I am using Labview 6.x on a shared pc running Windows2000 SP1.
In order to run vi's anyone on the box must be an Admin. If they are
not setup as Admin, the vi will not run. We don't want all users to
have full admin rights to the drive. Any ideas?

The Help file for Win 2000 indicates that you can have file/directory level access rights if your harddrive is NTFS (I assume you can't do this with FAT/FAT32). Be sure to set up "standard user"s under Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> User and Passwords. Once
this is done you should be able to set individual user permission rights for files/folders.

Trying to update. When I drag ff icon to apps folder message says replace or stop. Answer replace, then message says can't complete as I don't have permissions. I have full admin rights for imac running 10.5.8. I've reviewed preferences & security settings, FF is set to accept all incoming connections. Not sure what else to check.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

  • AAM Won't Install - Admin Rights Required

    Hi Folks,
    Win7 64bit.
I've just signed up for Creative Cloud and am trying to install the AAM so I can access a few Adobe installers and get setup.  I just crossgraded from Photoshop 5 CS and Dreamweaver, both of which previously installed no problem.   To access CC applications, you have to download and install the AAM.   When installing, it tells me admin permissions are required.   I've tried right-clicking and running as administrator - same error.   I've tried to run the MS fixit tool - no change.   I've tried to install Adobe Air, it won't install - it hangs on the EULA screen by opening more of the same screen over and over.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?   This is a new-ish machine and nothing has changed on it since installing PS CS5 and DW a few months back.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Hi Taurn,
The issue seemed to be resolved until I tried to open the AAM today, when it began again to do it's self-update process, and again it's failing due to admin priviledges.      I have a trial of LIghtroom that was the work around until it was added to the Creative Cloud offering - and now it's expired, and I can't install through the AAM because it won't, again, update itself.  I've tried all of the suggestions found on the forum - firewall off - entry in the firewall for PDAPP.exe, new Admin account on my system.
Would you have any suggestions for me?  I simply want to use the software as it was intended.
And I'm going to miss a deadline while I try to get this working again.....   I will be glad when the Creative Cloud (brilliant idea on paper) system works as it should.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
    Rob
EDIT: (removed - sorry for the whiny tone - just frustrated)

  • Are full admin rights required to generate webhelp in RH8?

My team has used RoboHelp for the past 10+ years, upgrading as needed. We were granted full admin rights on our PCs by our IT department several years ago so that our HTML webhelp would generate properly using RH5. We have now upgraded to RH8 but the IT department is going to take away our full admin rights.
Do we still need full admin rights on our PCs to generate HTML webhelp projects in RH8?  The Installing and Activating RoboHelp topic on www.grainge.org is not clear on this.
We typically copy the entire RH8 project to our C drive, work and generate there and then move them back to our company network drive for deployment.
If someone can help claify for us it would be great.

The answer is no, admin rights are not required to generate webhelp or any other output. They are required to install RoboHelp but are not required thereafter. You do of course need write permissions for the folder to which you are generating but that should be on your hard disk and therefore automatic.
Your IT department can check your permissions.
See www.grainge.org for RoboHelp and Authoring tips

  • Are enterprise admin and schema admin rights required after installation?

    Hi,
Exchange 2010 has been installed in our organisation a few years ago, and is running fine. Exchange was installed with an account with enterprise and schema admin rights. I have just found out that this account still has those rights, I think that this isn't
necessary, and is in fact een security risk. I think that membership of Exchange Organization Administrators and Organization Management plus domain admin rights is enough. Am I right or does this account really need enterprise and schema admin rights?

Yes you are correct. You will need schema admin rights when installing service packs though.

  • Installation Server and Windows 7 - Admin Rights Issue

Here is a good one.  Completely reproducible error when granting Local Admin Rights by the LSH Service.
For those with SAPGui Installation Server (SAPGui 7.20 Patch 6 or above) ... try this on a Windows 7 SP1 front end when you are NOT logged on with local admin rights.
      1) Open the Windows RUN dialog
      2) Type path to your installation server\setup\nwsapsetup.exe
      3) You should find the install wizard starts (granting local admin rights) as expected.
    NOW TRY THIS
      1) Type path to your installation server\setup\nwsapsetup.exe /uninstall
      2) You will find that you get a dialog about can't grant admin rights. Un-install will abort.
This only appears to happen with the /uninstall switch!  Using /product= for example it will still grant admin rights.
    BIZZARE ...
I've opened a Customer Support Message (Friday) priority - MEDIUM  have not heard back from SAP Support yet.
    Bob

    Jude,
Thanks, it looks like that note has been getting a lot of update activity lately because the newly released Patch 8 has nwsapsetup.exe as version:  8.6.1.62   and that version also has the issue with the /nnnnnn switches.
I do have to say however, that this issue with nwsapsetup.exe and admin rights (requiring SapSetup.exe_Patch) first appeared with the release of Patch 6 for the Gui.  It was fixed for WinXP (I had a customer support message opened on this).  So why didn't anyone also test on Win7?
Who is QA-ing these software releases?
Patch 8 had the same problem.
The change log for SapSetup.exe_Patch, is up to 8.1.6.70 now.
How are we in large enterprises to feel comfortable deploying any of this?
    End of rant ....
    Bob
P.S. I really appreciate your presence here ... the tech assigned to my formal Support Message on the matter still has not gotten back advising of the updated release of SapSetup.exe_Patch.

  • Saving Adobe PDF Page Size without Admin Rights?

Ok to get started, to define the limits of my environment for replication:
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and have tried Adobe Acrobat 8, 9, and X, my computer is on a network at work, and my user rights are limited.
    Open Printing Preferences, Click Add...
The "Add Custom Paper Size" window appears, give a new name and define sizes of the paper.
    Lets say I'm printing to a large format say 36" Tall by 108" Long (3ft x 9ft)
Click Add/Modify, the window goes away, focus again on Adobe PDF Printing Preferences. Click the drop down box for Adobe PDF Page Size:
The page size I just added to the list is not there!
The solution to the this problem is to have Administrative Rights to your machine in order to add custom paper sizes.
Note to Adobe Acrobat Programmers/Designers: please redevelop this feature to allow users to add paper sizes without Power User or Admin Rights. In a secure network these rights are not easily given out to every Dick and Jane that uses your software.

Interesting post, and for once, something one should be able
    to work with.
    I have a similar problem:
We're using a software distribution tool to install
msi-packages via rpc. Trying to distribute the latest flashplayer
works fine, but the users can't open flash-files, whether with
firefox nor internetexplorer tried 6 and 7 with latest patches.
I've found two possible ways to install a flashplayer plugin,
but both require manual input, which is just not possible for
    >100 Clients. just to mention: clean registry and then install
with admin rights or just run the installer with admin rights from
    the local machine.
Another problem is, that our company security policy
prohibits from using admin-rights for most installations.
    is there any workaround?
    regards

  • Folio Builder panel in CS6 and CC (says update required) - can't install update (no Admin rights)

Hi. I've been running CS6 and the Folio Builder Panel keeps saying "DPS — A software update is required, go to the Help menu for Updates..." When I go to the Help section there are no updates. I recently moved to CC hoping the problem would fix itself but it hasn't. I downloaded the DPS Package update for both versions of the program — and I tried to install each one. Both give me error messages saying I don't have Admin rights. Adobe's tech support walked me through enabling Admin rights (although I should have had them already) and that didn't work.
Has anyone else had trouble installing the DPS update? I would like to actually use the DPS tools!
    Thanks

Hi Bob, I ended up having to uninstall CS6, then reinstall it — then for a separate Folio Builder log in issue, I followed another thread and removed the (Application Support/Adobe) OOBE folder. Functioning smoothly for now! Thanks for your suggestion.

  • CC now requires admin rights, why?

we have a group of CC accounts that sit behind a corporate firewall on managed machines.  up until today all CC elements were installing correctly and without a problem.  we had to open up the ports to adobe at first, but all has been running smoothly.
Now however, if I open CC desktop, I am prompted with an update or quit message, if I try to update I now get told that I do not have sufficient admin rights.  in truth I never did! I never needed them for adobe CC.  So why the change?
To save me the painstaking exercise of asking IT to try and find out what can be done.  Does anyone know what can be done to fix this problem...
what do I need to ask IT to do?
Don't say give full admin rights!
I can't believe Adobe would force a requirement for admin rights, potentially barring the corporate client market.
    Any help appreciated,
    thanks

  • Is it can grant an admin right for special application ?(No Runas as Administrator)

    Dear All
Background: We have an application which run on users group in server 2000 SP4 is normal.
We want upgrade the OS to Win7 , on the Win7 the application can not launch on normal users group.
I was try the properties of compatibility to server 2000 and choose "Run this program as an administrator" and edit the regedit key permission , both of all is not work on my case.
It is ok right-click the application and runas as administrator, but on the other hand I find runas administrator has some other error with the application.
May I know is it has a method can grant the admin right to special user when running special application ?
    Regards All

    Hi,
What application can not run in Windows 7? I think there is a application compatibility issue, so please attempt to run Program Compability troubleshooter.
Also, you said you got some error while you ran as administrator with runas command. And what are the errors?
    RUNAS /user:<Username> Program
Based on my knowledge, we cannot grant the special user with admin right unless you add this special user to Administrators group. When a special user is running a application requiring administrator permission, it will prompt to input administrator username
    and password.

  • Does java require admin rights for deployment?

Just like the subject says, if I'm running in a limited user account can I deploy java packages or do I have to have admin rights in order to deploy programs?

Installing Java on a Windows 2k or XP machine requires Windows administrative privileges - see the appropriate Java Installation Instructions from Sun. If your use of "deployment" means anything else, that's all controlled by the privileges that your administrators give you; there are no requirements or rules other than what they set, as DrClap said. If you're not sure, have them set you up like the other people.

    Help!
GrFinger is an SDK put out by Grauile (or something like that) just seach grfinger in google, you'll find it.
    Thanks

Don't you think you should really contact Grauile ?
They wrote the software, including the native DLL libraries, and probably encountered this problem before on dual processor machines.

  • Merge Modul CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm requires admin rights

    Dear all,
I created a VB2005 windows forms application  using Crystal Reports XI R2 viewer and managed somehow to  include CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm in a clickonce deployment package. What really bothers me is that local admin rights are required for the CR runtime files during initial installation of the programm (updates work fine as normal user).
Is there a way to avoid this?
Can I install CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi prior to the application with (different) admin credentials during user logon and removed the merge module from the clickonce package?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Regards

With  the parameter " /qb pidkey=your product key" Glenn delivered the key to a solution. Using the SysInternals-tool psExec I was able to install the CR runtime an my target machines remotly and the users could install my software with normal users rights without problems:
I used the scripts RemoteInstall.cmd which has one single line
       C:\Programme\PsTools\psexec
    target_machine -u Domain\pcAdmin -c
    server\pathORshare\InstallCR2005-Runtime.cmd
and InstallCR2005-Runtime.cmd which contains these commands
      c:
      cd %Temp%
      copy
    server\pathORshare\CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi
      crystalreports11_5_net_2005.msi /qb pidkey=my product key
      del crystalreports11_5_net_2005.msi
BTW: psExec supports a parameter @file with a list of target machines
Your anwsers have really been a great help.

  • Run VHD/VMCX without admin rights?

    Hi,
Is it possible to run Windows Virtual PC without Admin rights?
My goal is to have basic users running a Windows XP VHD. I can install the application and set everything up using my admin credentials, but I want to leave the other users as basic or power users.
I've added the users to the power users group and given that group all rights to both the VHD and VMC files. The error the users get is that VPC cant write changes to the VHD.
To add, I'll need to use the integrated features as well. So even if there is a work around for the admin issue, I still need to ensure integrated features works too.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    Jason

Still curious if this is possible.
    Thanks for any help!
