  • LCM utility taking more time to start

    Hi All,
In Hyperion System 9.3.1 when running the LCMUtility.bat file in Hyperion Home\BIPLUS\bin folder it is taking nearly 8-10 minutes to start up the process. The shared services, IR, Core services are in the single box. Even though it is taking time to initialize, it ends with success.
Could anyone please let me know what could be the possible reason why it is taking 8-10 minutes of time to start the process?
    Thanks,
    Sree

Every thing was created successfully and am able to start the database and > shutdown also. Please restate the above.
problem is while giving the startup command it takes more time to start the >database and the same during the shutdownHow have you compared? Could it be O/S resources, installation of additional software; you have not mentioned the O/S and complete version of your database.

  • XML Publisher(XDODTEXE) in EBS taking more time with the same SQL in TOAD

    HI
XML Publisher(XDODTEXE) in EBS taking more time with the same SQL in TOAD.
The sql has 5 union clauses.
It takes 20-30 minutes in TOAD compared to running through Concurrent Program in XML Publisher in EBS taking around 4-5 hours.
The Scalable Flag at report level is turned on with the JVM options set to -Xmx1024m -Xmx1024m in Concurrent Program definition.
Other configurations for Data Template like XSLT, Scalable, Optimization are turned on though didn't bounce the OPP Server for these to take effect as I am not sure whether it is needed.
Thanks in advance for your help.

But the question is that how come it is working in TOAD and takes only 15-20 minutes?
    with initialization of session ?
    what about sqlplus ?
Do I have to set up the the temp directory for the XML Publisher report to make it faster?

What you've given us is the query co-ordinator trace, which basically tells us that the the coordinator waited 364 seconds for the PX slaves to tell it that they had completed their tasks ("PX Deq: Execute Reply" time). You need to look at the slave traces to find out where they spent their time - and that's probably not going to be easy if there are lots of parallel pieces of processing going on.
If you want to do some debugging (in general) one option is to add a query against V$pq_tqstat after each piece of parallel processing and log the results to a named file, or write them to a table with a tag, as this will tell you how many slaves were involved, how, and what the distribution of work and time was.

  • Query accessing SSAS cube is taking more time in power view report

    Hi,
My SSAS server is having 16 Core's . I have created a power view in sharepoint site, which is accessing ssas cube.
The report is taking more time to show the result.  I traced the DAX query using SQL Server profiler. When I ran this DAX query in SSAS server directly, then its taking less time but when the same query running from sharepoint server (power view) , it
is taking more time. Number of records in the fact table is 300M .
Also i tracked the %process time in performance monitor, mostly the line is below 20%. I think the CPU is not fully utilized..
Could you please help me to improve the performance of my report.
    Regards,
    Arun

    Hi Arun,
According to your description, you create a PowerView report in SharePoint site connect to SSAS cube, the problem is that it take long time to show the result in the report, now you want to improve report performance, right?
In your scenario, you said that it takes more time to return the result in PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. For a report, its run time contain retrieval data time and render report time. So it takes more time to return the result in
PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. And there are 300M records in the fact table, the performance can be caused by large data. Here is a blog which describes tracks down Power View performance problems.

  • SSRS report taking more time but fast in SSMS

SSRS report taking more time but fast in SSMS,We are binding a string which more than 43000 length each and total number records is 4000.
Plese do the needful. It is not possible to create index because it crosses 900 byte.

    Hi DBA5,
As per my understanding, when previewing the report, there are three options to affect the report performance. They are data retrieval time, processing time, rendering time.
The data retrieval takes time to retrieve the data from the server using a queries or stored procedures, the processing time takes time to process the data within the report using the operations in the layout of the report and the rendering time takes time
to display the information of the report and how it is displayed like excel, pdf, html formats. It is the reason why report take more time than in SSMS.
To improve the performance, we need to improve the three aspects. For the details, please see the great blog:http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mariae/archive/2009/04/16/quick-tips-for-monitoring-and-improving-performance-in-reporting-services.aspx
    Hope this helps.

  • Essbase Calculation Script taking more time in new environment

    Hi Everyone:
We have four environments in our implementation.
    1. DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
    2. PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0
    3. PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
In the above mentioned environment PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 is a newly installed
    environment.
We have migrated our Application from PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. A calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 32 bit PreProd is taking more than
5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
We have also migrated our Application from DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. The calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 64 bit Dev is taking more than 5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
All the server settings and cache setting everything looks similar in all the three environments.
Please advice us what are all the possibilities that creates the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prabhakar.

    Hi Cameron,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have cross checked the Virtual memory in both servers,in new server it was declared high.

The all above settings are identical both servers.
In New server ,only one script that is taking more time but remaining scripts are working fine with less time.
We also did one test cause that splitting the script in to multiple and executed ,in this cause the script where we are using direct assigning value from member(say A1) to another member(Say A2) is taking more time. But same scripts we executed in old server it executes fine.
Still we are not able to find out exact root cause for this issue.
Could please anyone help me to resove this issue.
