Administration, Answer, DashBoard about Business Intelligence

Hallo
I am new Business Intelligence,
I have tried Business Intelligence in September 2007,
Okay let talk about my experience ( trial )
1. I Installed OracleBI..
2. I tried Administration
in this place I make *.rpd.
in this section I have Question about this ?
a. how to do update row count automatic so when we open Dashboard data have fresh data?
b. I still not really understood about this ?
1. In (Physical) and (Business Model and Mapping),
I make Physical Diagram Object(s) and All Joins...( Physical )
I make Business Model Diagram Whole Diagram.....( Business Model and Mapping )
The Problem is when create Dimension we must create like this for example : forum_detail->forum_reply->forum ( this just example me )
for dimension forum_reply. My Question is why must create forum_detail to make a drill down from forum to reply
.. why not just like this : forum_reply->forum ???
2. complex and foreign key?? Why must be we create complex in Business Model and Mapping ?
3. I tried presentation
In this place I make request, filter, dashboard, view, many thing I assumes can do in this place
a. So I wonder can Answer can make request so the data can DML UPDATE.. this it My Question Crazy me..?
Thanks Friends..

Or maybe publishday.xml has something wrong in this,
I suspect <Update></Update>
If I have guide to make it xml writeback, I just follow you made publishday.xml??

I put my publishday.xml in {OracleBI}/web/msgdb/customMessages
Ensure that you have placed the XML template under {OracleBI}/web/msgdb/customMessages folder.

  • About Business Intelligence and Business Warehouse.

    Greetings Gentilemen,,
I'm currently working as an ABAP Consultant, but i want to get information about Business Intelligence and Business Warehouse because I want to pursue my career as a functional consultant.
What do i need to study and do i have to get access to BW system to do some self studying ?!
    TIA

    Hi
You're on the right track. The Oracle 11g database does indeed come with OWB. Out of the box, OWB can and will work with OLAP. However, are you licensed for OLAP? That is an add-on to the standard Oracle database license and, if I'm not mistaken, a separate install option too. I'm not 100% certain but I don't think the base Oracle database installer gives you the OLAP objects, I think you have to choose the custom install. Please make sure you buy the right license though.
As for ad-hoc querying and reporting, Discoverer will do you just fine. It is very reasonably priced and, as you say, it is part of the Oracle BI Standard Edition.
BI Enterprise Edition is the top of the range Oracle model for BI. It can do the same as Discoverer plus some - at a price! Personally, if you only want to work with some ad-hoc queries I would start out with Discoverer as it is the easiest to install and learn. Its also the cheapest entry point into the BI world. Later, if you decide that Discoverer is not for you then you can pay the BI EE license fee and upgrade. Oracle will even have tools that will allow you to upgrade your metadata and existing reports. Therefore, don't think that by starting out with Discoverer that you will be locking yourself into that tool because you will not.
    Best wishes

  • Is parallel measuregroup processing supported in Business Intelligence (BI) edition?

    Hi all,
I know that parallel measuregroup processing is not supported in Standard Edition of SQL Server Analysis Services. But what about Business Intelligence Edition?
I can't find this in the
feature comparison matrix for SQL Server 2014. I think the entry shown in the picture is for the relational engine only. I haven't found any other entry which would describe this feature.
It is also not mentioned in
Processing Options and Settings (Analysis Services).
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards,
    Gerald

    Hi Gerald,
According to your description, you need to know if parallel processing is supported in Business Intelligence Edition of SQL Server Analysis Service, right?
In SSAS, engine can process and query OLAP partitions in parallel, leading to potentially better performance and scalability. However, not all the edition is support this feature. Parallel query processing on partitioned tables and indices is only support
on Enterprise edition. Please refer to the link below.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx#SSAS
If you have any concern about this feature, you can submit a feedback at
http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is released in the next release of service pack or product. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, Microsoft might consider to add this feature
in the following release after official confirmation.

  • Oracle Business intelligence Suite Ent. Edn and Server enterprise edition

    Hi
I would like to know difference between Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus and Oracle Business Intelligence server Enterprise Edition.

    Hi,
Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus is a comprehensive suite of enterprise business intelligence (BI) products
that delivers a full range of capabilities—including interactive dashboards, full ad hoc queries, proactive intelligence and alerts,
enterprise and financial reporting, real-time predictive intelligence, disconnected analytics, and more.
The suite is composed of the below components
    Oracle Business Intelligence Interactive Dashboards.
    Oracle Business Intelligence Answers.
    Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher.
    Oracle Delivers.
Oracle Business Intelligence Plug-in for Microsoft Office.
    Oracle Disconnected Analytics.
Oracle Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition. As the foundation of Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus, the Oracle
Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition generates queries optimized for each datasource, appropriately aggregates them, and presents the results to
users within a familiar Web browser via easy-to-use dashboards and reports.
The Oracle Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition also includes parallel query execution engines, memory management, and high-throughput
data connectivity adapters to allow highly efficient data sourcing and aggregation that minimize data retrieval time. This highly scalable platform
with clustering and caching capabilities is the heart of what drives the other suite components. Multiple servers can be clustered to provide session
replication and automatic failover capabilities. The Oracle Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition delivers mission-critical performance,
    scalability, and reliability.

    Hi,
i think you are new to OBIEE.
let me say something about it.
OBIEE has mainly two components on which users can work.
1.RPD. (Designing and syncronization from Database comes under this).
2.Presentation. (Dashboards,Answers and all other reports to the end user for analysis.)
What ever you have designed in the rpd of OBIEE can be viewed in Presentation.
To access rpd go to OracleBI/server/repository and click on your rpd.
the default path of the rpd is (OracleBI/server/repository).
You have many rpd's find the correct one.
you have to configure it for presentation.
    it is a long process.
If you are using 10g you can login with user_name :Administrator and password :Administrator or empty.

    Lakshmipathi.

  • Business Intelligence Center and Dashboards

Does anyone know of good and easy to follow tutorials or instructions on how to setup a business intelligence center and create dashboards?  Anything I need to do on the SQL side?
Running 2013 enterprise and 2012 SQL on 2008 R2 Server
    Thanks

What kind of data are you reporting on?  There are several different types of BI products, such as SSRS, PerformancePoint, and PowerPivot.  Each of these has its pros and cons.  For example, if your data is not in a cube, then PerformancePoint
is not very useful.  Here's an example blog from Microsoft, which explains a bit of this.  As a consultant, a typical conversation about getting started with BI and dashboards usually lasts about 2 hours.

  • Oracle Business Intelligence Administration Tool for Windows

I am having issues installing Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Client on Windows 7 32 bit.
This is how we set up our server:
    - OBIEE 11g Server is installed and configured in RHEL 5 64bit.
(We have installed and configured Oracle Database, RCU and the OBIEE)
    - Our users are working on a Windows 7 32 bit and they are the one who will be accessing the BI Server.
I have come across a bunch of information regarding our setup. I am sure that our BI Server is working properly as a matter of fact, we can now use Oracle Warehouse Builder of the BI Server.
According to Metalink Doc Id: 417656.1, OBIEE Tools are only available in Windows platforms. I beleive this is the reason why we only configured OWB in our BI server (which is in RedHat) and we cannot find a way to configure OBIEE Admin Tools. But when I read the doc id, it applies to 10g versions of BI Server, what about 11g? Is there a way to configure and use OBIEE Admin tools from the BI Server in Linux?
Also, according to the official docs:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#CEGEHEJF
4.6.1 Installing Oracle Business Intelligence Client Tools
"..If you installed Oracle Business Intelligence on a computer running a Linux, UNIX, or 64-bit Windows operating system, and you want to use Oracle Business Intelligence client tools, you must perform the following additional steps..."
So in my own understanding, this fits our current setup. Is this the correct solution so we can access OWB of the BI Server and use BI Admin tools from our 32 bit windows?
Also, I have read many bloggers and users having issues in Windows 7? Following the official docs i pasted here which has steps 1-3, is Windows 7 supported by Oracle Business Intelligence 11g?
Any help, confirmation (with credible basis) and further questions about this issue will be very much honored. Thanks a lot!

    Hi ,
Oracle BI for CC&B has few Standard(Demo) reports packaged with this software for example CI_CSEOPN (Case by Type and Age), If we need to know the logic of this report where do we find the information as the code for this report is not user friendly which is mainly stored as functions and not understandable, Please let me know if you have any information to get the logic of this report.
    Thanks

  • SharePoint: Business Intelligence - PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer

I have a departmentalized site collection for my company on SharePoint 2013. The IT Department handles service requests via the portal. These service requests are stored in a document library as InfoPath forms. I've created a Business Intelligence site
to measure and assess the performance of the IT department in handling service requests.
So far, I've only been able to create a data connection to the SharePoint library where the requests are. However, I'm not familiar with the Dashboard Designer's interface, controls and functionalities. Most of the documentation and tutorials online apply
to only SharePoint 2010 or an Analysis Services template (which to my knowledge works only with SQL databases). What I'm seeking is a guide to creating a complete dashboard for a SharePoint List (2013).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Well there's this book:
    http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0790145372703.do
However, if you don't have to use PP, then I'd suggest not using it. You can create an Excel Workbook that connects to the library and create a dashboard from there.

  • Daily Business Intelligence Administrator is not a valid responsibility for

    Hi there
I am trying to access the Business Intelligence through Daily Business Intelligence Administrator responsibility I am getting following error.
Daily Business Intelligence Administrator is not a valid responsibility for the current user. Please contact your System Administrator.
How I am going to find out that Business Intelligence is fully installed and enable?
    Thanks
    ASIM

Try using the FUNCTIONAL ADMINISTRATOR responsibility.
Navigate to core services > caching > global components (can't remember if that's exactly the right names)
Then press the clear cache button.
Sometimes you get this error if you haven't performed these steps.
