Administration Enterprise Manager 11g
Hi, I have installed 11g. When you install, oracle create a db orcl. Well, I have created a new Db, is it possible to access to the new DB? and if it is possible, which are the steps i must follow.
Best regards.

To expand on Sybrand's correct and extremely concise response ....
Actually - when you install, you decide whether to create a DB and what to call it. That will call DBCA (B Config Assistant) to do the actual creation. After you install, you can use DBCA (DB Config Assistant) to create more databases (and also delete and configure options for databases).
The default action duriung DBCA database create is (usually) to create a DB Control for that database. It does so by calling the EMCA (Enterpise Manager Confids Assistant). You can also call that assistant on the command line - details in the docs.
Oracle designed Enterprise Manager Database Control to manage one, and only one, database. Each database normally gets it's own DBControl. Since this is quiclkly becomes a pain, the preferred solution is to use the Grid Control as a central console (with the same capabilities as DB Control, and more). Licensing of the Grid Control is discussed in the Database doc set (at htytp://tahiti.oracle.com) in the Licensing document.

Too many columns to be shown in the Enterprise Manager 11g?
Hello,
we are having some problems with the Enterprise Manager 11g. When we want to VIEW DATA of a specific table, we get this exception. We think that our table has too many columns to be displayed. If we delete some of the columns, the data is shown in the enterprise manager. But this cannot be a solution for us. Can you help us with this point?

I'm Galit from the QE team of VIN.
All the things that you've described are correct.
It is actually an edge case where the only VM, that the manual App can be managed from its Map view, was removed from the App.
The Manual App management is as designed, and may be changed in the future.
There are 2 ways to overcome this situation:
1.You can, as you stated, create another Manual App with similar name and remain with the "Zombie App".
2. To run a specific command that will remove the Zombie App from the DB.
Please note that option no. 2 involves using an API that we do not publish.
If you would like to use option no. 2 contact me in private and we will see about supplying the relevant commands to run in order to delete the "zombie" application.
Thanks,

Problem using Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control in Firefox 3.6.6
Hello all,
I just intalled Oracle 11g and trying to familiarize myself with Enterprise Manager 11g Dataabse Control using Firefox 3.6.6 in Windows XP.
I'm able to login to Enterprise manager successfully.
However, when I click on on "Performance Tab", the "SYSTEM_MOVING_WINDOW" is empty, and there's a prompt "Click Here to Download Plugin."
When I do click on it, I get message:
No suitable plugins were found.
Unknown plugin (application/octet-stream) [Manual Install].
I'm not sure what plugin I need so I can use Enterprise Manager properly.
Please help!
Thanks
GiovanniI use the Opera browser so I can split the screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time on my 2nd monitor. I am not having issues with the 10g OEM but having the same problem listed in this thread with the 11g OEM ( we have both running during our migration to 11g). The posts here didn't help me with the 11g OEM as there must be some difference from 10g OEM. I will hate it if I can't do the split screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time. And if you are connecting via solaris or lunix browser then IE is not an option ( W3C standards please ).

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control log file location
Any one knows where the log file is for Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control. I am trying to set up EUS proxy authentication and running into issues when trying to search proxy user in my DB. The search returns no results and I am not sure where to look for. Please not my setup does work for EUS with shared or exclusive schema. I need to use Oracle DB proxy authentication for my application and that would need a setup of EUS with proxy permissions so please advice if you know where the log file is for Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control or if there is any logging I can turn on to see what search parameters are passed from Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control to my DB by using DB audit etc.
Thanks,Be patient...wait for report.
If after some time report does not appear, go to Advisor Central and find it there.

Disk 1 of Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control not downloading correctly
Hello, I'm downloading Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control.
The first disk, of three, does not download correctly:
GridControl_11.1.0.1.0_Linux_1of3.zip
On the web page, its size is listed to be around 1.3 GB.
However, when downloading, it thinks its actual file size is only around 643 MB.
So only that much gets downloaded.
But after downloading, this .zip file cannot be opened, it does not appear to a valid .zip file.
Please investigate and fix this.
Thanks
EugenePlease check from edelivery.oracle.com . You need to unzip all the zips under one dir.

Newbie Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g feature availability question
Newbie question here. I am new to Oracle 11g and new to this forum. I ran a search on this question and came up empty so hopefully there is a kind and knowlegable soul wo can help.
I recall in earlier versions of Oracle Enterprise Manager for earlier versions of Oracle there was something called Oracle Enteprise Manager Reporting accessible from the OEM web.
One of its key features was the ability to make custom "Additional Reports". In our current environment this is installed and works great. I don't know if it was an add on to OEM, or if it was built in. It was built a long time ago and I wasn't arround for that build. All I know is it works and it suits our needs.
Well we are now trying to build a new Oracle dev box to replace the current dev environment. We would prefer to not lose any existing functionality we have... and if possible not have to reinvent the wheel. The new box has Oracle 11g.
**Here comes the dumb newbie questions. **
Does Oracle 11g Enterprise Manager support 9i-style Enterprise Manager Reporting and Custom Reports?
Is it called that in 11g or has it been renamed to something else?
Is it it a simple matter of configuration or is it an add on that needs to be installed?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Wayward Oracle Newbie looking for an Oracle HomeOracle 11g does not support 9i-style custom reports. There is a new reporting framework - Information Publisher available in Grid Control 10+ versions. The new reporting framework does support custom reports as well. Click on the Reports tab to access the functionality.

Error on Enterprise Manager 11g login screen
I have Oracle 11g installed on a Windows 2008 Server and I'm running into a problem trying to log in to my Enterprise Manager screen. The screen loads just fine, but when I put in the username and password and hit login, the status wheel at the top spins like it's going to log in but instead returns me to the EM login screen.
I've done some troubleshooting already but I have no idea where else to look. It isn't local because I'm not the only one in the office getting this error, it isn't my installation process because this isn't our only server, but it is the only one exibiting this error. I know there is a known issue with IE8, but from what I've read this isn't the same issue (the known issue is that the page just continues to load indefinately). I've tried 'emctl start agent', and it seems to start fine, but when I run 'emctl status agent' it continues to come back with 'agent not running.' I've tried using just the IP address, as well as the server name (DNS isn't set up on these servers) with the same results.
Anybody out there have any other ideas?20.1.4 Limitations on Viewing XML Data on the Audit Trail Page with Internet Explorer 7
If you are using Internet Explorer 7, and click the view XML document link on the Audit Trail page in Oracle Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control Console, data is not displayed. Instead, you are prompted to save or open the page. If you select to open the file, no data is displayed and you are again prompted to save or open the file. Instead, you must save the XML document and view it separately in a text editor.
As a workaround, use Mozilla FireFox to view the data directly after clicking the view XML document link.
This is the limitation that we are aware of. Login should work with IE7 for EM. Please double check your settings. -

I am trying to integrate EBS 12.1.3 with Enterprise Manager 11g
HI Experts
I need to integrate EBS 12.1.3 with Enertprise Manager 11g grid control.
I have applied patch 8333939 to my OMS Instance successfully.
But I am not able to apply the same to my agent home.
I am following this doc.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e18708/T506934T511454.htm
I need to deploy patch 9757683 to my agent home.
Also silent installation is not working.
Please advise.
Thanks

I'm not across what the EBS recommended setting for this is, or if there is one. But try running:

... and if the number is low, edit /etc/security/limits.conf , add some entries for increased "soft nofile" and "hard nofile" and run sysctl -p. See Linux & Java tips: Too many open files . -

Can anyone tell me what may be going on? Yesterday I had configured channel bonding for network interfaces. Did firmware update on RAID adapter and updated linux packages including kernel. Going to old kernel didn't help. I tried restarting processes, that also didn't help.Aerosmith wrote:
