Administration Icon & People Portlet

What I gather from reading the discussions is there doesnt appear to be a way to get rid of the "Administration" icon when a user with "Create With Approval" privilege selects "Edit" folder. This annoying Administration icon also appears in the search results page. I am wondering why the access privileges for folders don't match more closely with the options in Edit folder, i.e, Add Item, Create Folder, Folder Properties, Folder Style, and Administration. Im sure there are quite a few developers out there who are trying to create a portal site that only allows users to add/edit items or folders without allowing them to muck around with properties or styles. The Administration icon allows access to an area of portal that I dont want my users to see. I guess the only other alternative is to create a form that uses the content area API. Someone from Oracle promised to post an example a while back, but I have yet to see it.
I am also having difficulty with the People portlet. After a people search, the report displays information in an unreadable font. I is this a bug? I noticed other postings on this subject but it seemed to be confined to UNIX/Linux platforms. I am using WIN/2K 8.1.7 & 3.0.8.

  • People Portlet Banner

Does anyone know of a way that I can edit the banner of the People portlet results page? Specifically, I would like to remove the "Navigator" and "Home" icons.
I tried editing the "Search Results Page" but that page only controls results from the Search portlet.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Brent,
Thanks for the response. At this point, I am creating a page
using the PAGE wizzard and placing portlets such as the
Scheduler and File Upload portlets packaged with the Portal PDK.
You gave me an idea on where to look for the Portal Home Page
source. I can't find it using Navigator. I have found and
tried to edit the Portal Seeded Portlets from the Portlet
Repository, however there is no config parameter for including
    the image.
The Portal Home Page looks nice with the various icons above
    each portlet.

  • Site administration link "people and groups" link breaks if you delete the excel services viewers group

Creating a HNSC using powershell, the default groups are not created.  Used the UI method of creating the default groups.
However, if I delete the "excel services viewers" group, the site administration link "people and groups" breaks.  I have attempted to "set the default group" again, after creating the "site default groups" as
mentioned above, but still no luck.
Anyone seen this?  Should it be reported as a bug?
    Joshua Fuente

    Hi Joshua,
For troubleshooting your issue, you can create the default groups using the following PowerShell script and see the result:
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell
    $currentUser = "$env:USERDOMAIN\$env:USERNAME"
    $siteCollectionUrl = "http://manasbhardwaj.net"
    $siteCollectionName = "Manas Dev Site"
    $webApplicationUrl = "http://manas"
    New-SPSite -Url $siteCollectionUrl -OwnerAlias $currentUser -Name $siteCollectionName -Language 1033 -HostHeaderWebApplication $webApplicationUrl -Template sts#0
    $web = Get-SPWeb $siteCollectionUrl
    $web.EnsureUser($currentUser)
    $web.CreateDefaultAssociatedGroups($currentUser, "", "")

  • Verizon Lumia Icon Denim update teased for possible February release

    Fingers crossed
Verizon Lumia Icon owners are a passionate crowd and seemingly asking on a daily basis when the promised Lumia Denim update for their phones will be delivered. In late 2014 it was promised for "early 2015" but now we're into 2015 folks are getting itchy update fingers once again. Microsoft's Joe Belfiore is the target of a number of questions on the subject, and he's got a couple of things to say about it today.
"Lumia icon people asking what I meant by "early 2015": The first part of the year. In my mind that means jan/feb or so. Less likely March."
"Know that Vzw & MS are actively, daily working on getting it done. The test process has unpredictability so we can't say a firm end date"
Since January is done with that would suggest Microsoft and Verizon are aiming to push it out in February. But as with the second statement, it could easily slip due to circumstances beyond Microsoft's control. But it hasn't been forgotten about, at least.
Source:  Verizon Lumia Icon Denim update teased for possible February release | Windows Central

I doubt it. JB's tweets were very, very vague and the very fact that he had to mention March means it's a lot more likely than not to be pushed past February.
I take this as a very bad sign for this phone. We've been hearing soon since September.

  • Dvt:map, JSR-168 portlets, and WebCenter Spaces

    Please click here [http://fusion.appshosting.com:8788/coxcustomportlets/faces/callcenterportlet.jspx]
When I attempt to view this portlet in WebCenter Spaces, the map will not render.
The rest of the portlet renders fine.
The connections.xml file is included in the portlet ear.
I am supposing I have to upload connections.xml to the Spaces server as well.. but where do I upload to, and how to I "register" it??
Can anyone help? Thank you very kindly.
    Josh

    Hello,
JSR168 is a fairly simplistic standard, but there are ways of doing most things.
For example, to get the portlet's ID (I'm assuming you want a unique portlet instance ID, and not an ID for that "type" of portlet), you can use the PortletRequest.getWindowID() to return an ID for the portlet unique to the user's session.
For storing URLs that need to be re-configured depending on deployment, that is usually done with portlet preferences in JSR168 portlets-- the portlet can read its preference value, which can be set by a developer or an administrator (or the portlet itself, if you wish). Java property files deployed with the portlets can also contain this configuration information.

  • BPEL Worklist Portlet returns 500 Internal Server Error

    We have the following environment:
    Windows Server 2003
    OracleAS10g 10.1.2.0.2 (infrastructure and midtier).
Then I upgraded to portal 10.1.4.0.0.
Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.2.0.2 is installed in the Midtier-home and integrated/connected to OID/single sign-on.
    All BPEL components work OK.
I have deployed BPELPortlet.ear using dcmctl and I have registered the provider with Oracle Portal.
The administration/console BPEL portlets work OK.
But, both the BPEL Worklist Portlet and the BPEL Worklist Analysis Portlet return the error:
"Error: The listener returned the following Message: 500 Internal Server Error"
Does anyone know what is wrong here?
    Is this a privilege problem?
    Thanks and regards

Frank, I'd recomment checking the opmn log for the oc4j_portal container.. this should shed some light what's going (wr)on(g)...

  • Can't See User Portlet

Running 9iAS R2. When I log into portal as administrator the user portlet does not appear even the when I click on edit it shows as available. Portal user profile, Edit/Delete Group, and Portal Group Profile portlets all appear. How do I create a new portal user?
    Thanks.

I got the same problem when I tried to change portal hostname. I edited httpd.conf and ran ptlasst.csh. User portlet disappeared. When I set old hostname the portlet appeared again.
When I deleted partner application with old hostname and registered it again with ptlasst.csh I got the same problem for old hostname.
    Any solutions?

  • Can't make portlets floatable

My Portlets have recently decided that they are no longer floatable (they
were previously floatable). I'm fairly sure that I've done nothing to cause
this, but I can't be sure and they certainly won't float.
According to the administration tool the portlets are "Available",
"Visible", "Minimizable" and "Floatable". When I test in the header using
"PortletRenderHelper.isFloatable(request)" I always get false returned
    (when I try "PortletRenderHelper.isMinimizable(request)" I get true
    returned).
I'm using the standard setup on NT with the cloudscape database.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Matt

You can try a hard reset by holding down the home button and the lock button at the same time until the apple appears. If that doesn't work I think you should definitely go into an apple store.

  • Customization WebCenter Space Portlet

    Hi ;
I am using webcenter portlet in my WebCenter Space project. But, that's don't enough for project. I need to customizing this portlet. (And maybe publish as a my task flow component in my catalog) For example, document list viewer component. How can i do this?
    Thanks..

You can publish your customized portlet in the catalog. For this, you have to create a Mashup from the WC Administration > Mashup, add portlet on this mashup from catalog, customize it and then add this mashup in catalog from WC Administration --> Catalog. You will find all these mashups in Taskflows section of Catalog.
Using this approach, you cannot personalize your portlet.

  • Portlet Bug

I can create new portlets, but when I try to place them on a page, by selecting "Add Portlet" it clicks, but does nothing. I can add portlets that I don't create (like the "People" portlet) but I can't seem to add any portlets that I created in my own application. I can view the sample of the portlet, I have granted access to it, etc. This just appears to be a bug on the clicking of the "Add Portlet" button, which is firing off a JavaScript routine. Any suggestions?

    Brad,
You need to register the provider ( I am assuming you wrote the portlet using PL/SQL,
but it applies to Java too.). Say, you wrote
a Portlet hello_world_portlet. It will have
a corresponding provider package, hello_world_provider, which exposes the portlet. Once you register the provider with
    the Portal.
Another reason: You can create an application in the Portal. say, BRAD_APP. Now you add a form and a Report to the app. You need to
do 2 things before being able to add the form or report as a portlet.
    1. Expose the application as a provider. This is done by checking the 'Expose the application as a provider' in the access tab.
    2. Go to the access tab of the componenet and check the 'Publish to Portal', so that the component can be be added as as a portlet.

  • WiFi Calling icon not received

I had a text message from EE to tell me that I can now use WiFi Calling, and telling me to go to ee.co.uk/wificalling to set it up. I did, and I've turned on WiFi Calling in settings a couple of days ago, but I've still not received the icon people are talking about to show that WiFi calling is enabled. What am I missing? is there something else I should have done? I even texted WiFi Calling to 150 and got a text back telling me again to go to ee.co.uk/wificalling to set it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a Galaxy S5 bought directly from EE over the phone about a year ago. Thanks.

Call 150 as I think there have been recent problems with setting up wifi calling. I had the same problem on my S6, and dreaded calling 150 as it's usually such a nightmare. However, I called earlier in the week and in this case it was simple and effective. Spoke to a normal advisor, who put me through to John in second line tech support. He sent some settings as a text message whilst I was on the call, and before I put the phone down the wifi calling icon had appeared at the top of my screen. It's been working fine ever since. Despite my historic dislike of calling 150, in this case it was quick, easy, and above all - it worked. Good luck.

    Thank

The reason why you cannot access Oracle XE web administration page outside the 'localhost' where you installed it has to do with security reasons.
As an administrator, you can enable the Database Home Page for remote users, BUT you must be aware that this means the administration console will be available to everybody and it will be prone to security breaches.
    1. Access the Database Home Page.
    2. Click the Administration icon
    3. click Manage HTTP Access.
    4. Select Available from local server and remote clients, and then click Apply Changes.
Or you can also enable it from a SQL Plus prompt logged as SYSTEM:
    sql> EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETLISTENERLOCALACCESS(FALSE);

  • Portlet Preferences Window

    We are using Plumtree 5.0
I would like to make the pencil icon for portlet preferences take me directly to the preference page for that portlet rather than to the list of all the portlets for the current page. Does anybody know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Tommy Wright
    FTN Financial

Why couldn't it be changed to make the OpenPortletPrefsWindow call when you click on the pencil icon. If there are no preferences then just return a page that says "There are no preferneces for this portlet".
When a portlet has preferences, could that not simply set a property/flag in the "PTGADGETS" that says it has one? The code already looks up the portlet's title, so why could it not lookup an extra field?
Why put the pencil icon on every portlet when they all do the same thing? They just take you to the list of portlet preferences where I have to scan the list to find the name of the very same portlet I just clicked on. Once the user finds the name in the list they then have to determine if it has preferences or not by seeing if the name is now a link or not. Even then, they have to click the link to actually edit the preferences. I feel this is a fundemental design flaw in the way portlets work in 5.0.
My only option in order to enable a more user friendly interface is to remove the pencil icon altogether and force them to use the edit protlet preferences from the menu. Even this does not give the feel that the portlets are independant of each other. Guys, I am really frustrated with this problem and disappointed in the response.

    The bug fixes for bug numbers 1817550, 1830898, 1832632, 1840420, 1664594,
1810741, 1807325, and 1819442 are not installed via the patch script
because you must shut down your Web server prior to applying them. The
sections that follow describe how to apply these fixes.
    JPDK.ZIP
On the Web server where the provider is running:
Unzip the contents of jpdk.zip into a directory (e.g., JPDK_30901).
    Shut down your Web server.
Change your zone.properties file to include <extract
    dir>/jpdk/lib/provider.jar in the wrapper.classpath.
If you are using Java Portal Development Kit (JPDK) samples from a
previous release of the JPDK, update your samples using those
included in the zip file. Refer to <extract dir>/installing.jpdk.html
    for more details.
    Restart your Web server.
Note: Refer to <extract dir>/release.notes.html for a list of changes made
    in this release.
    wwpage.jar
On the middle tier where the Portal listener is running:
    Shut down your Web server.
Create a backup of your current wwpage.jar file.
Replace /$IAS_HOME/Apac he/Jserv/servlets/wwpage.jar with the new
    wwpage.jar provided in this patch.
    Restart your Web server.
    New Parameters
The Parallel Page Engine now accepts two new parameters in the
    zone.properties file:
minStall is the minimum stall value allowed for a contentfetcher
before it assumes there is a problem and times out. This value
defaults to 120 seconds. It was added to help upgrades from
308, which had a normal stall value of 40 seconds. The meaning
of stall has changed slightly, raising the need for a minimum
    value.
minTimeout is the minimum timeout that may be sent by a
portlet. At times portlets send very small values, like 1
second. This almost always fails, and pages are rendered
incomplete. The minTimeout defaults to 5 seconds, but may be
set otherwise if this is not large enough. The minTimeout is
different from the requestTime. The requestTime is used when no
timeout value is sent for a portlet.
    opca.jar
Back up your current opca.jar file, which is found in the
    <IAS_HOME>/assistants/opca/ directory.
Copy the opca.jar file provided with this patch to the
    <IAS_HOME>/assistants/opca/ directory.
To install the Portal repository, run the launch.bat (on NT) or
launch.sh (on Solaris) to invoke the Portal Configuration Assistant.
Follow the steps in the configuration assistant.
    Oracle Portal Cache
Go to Oracle MetaLink and retrieve the patch for bug number 1817550.
    Stop your Oracle HTTP Server.
Apply the patch you downloaded from Oracle MetaLink as per the
    instructions in the README.txt file.
Login to your system as root and delete all cache files and
    subdirectories under the directory
    <IAS_HOME>/Apache/modplsql/cache/plsql. Make sure the directory
    <IAS_HOME>/Apache/modplsql/cache/plsql is empty.
    Start your Oracle HTTP Server.

that other problems are causing this error. This bug only
refers to the synchronization issue in which the Parallel

1810741 PROVIDER USER DOES NOT DETECT PUBLIC USER CORRECTLY.
Previously, the JPDK did not correctly detect if the
current user was logged in or accessing the portal using
a public session. This bug also affected providers
registered with a login frequency of PUBLIC. Failure to
detect the logged in state of the user correctly caused
ProviderUser.isPublicUser() to return an incorrect value
when a provider written using JPDK release 3.0.9 was used
with earlier releases of Oracle9iAS Portal.
The most common symptom of thi s error is the Customize
link being shown to public users when the provider
definition specified that it should be hidden. A new
username parameter has been added so the JPDK can
correctly detect the logged in state of users while
maintaining backwards compatibility with older versions
    of Oracle9iAS Portal.

timeouts and changes the defaults such that the Parallel
Page Engine works better without any configuration by the
user. These changes help to prevent getting the Portlet
could not be contacted error message.

    Richard,
I have just applied patch to upgrade from Portal 3.0.9 to 3.0.9.8.1 (Patch applied to loginserver and portal schema) and the External Applications that were previously set up have gone from the portlet.
Does this relate to your note at the bottom:
"Minor issues with Bulk action. 1840420 CUSTOM WRITTEN EXTERNAL AUTH MODULE NEED TO BE UPDATED AFTER 3.0.9 UPGRADE SSOXOID.PKB DOESN'T LOAD.
External authentication modules that were written before 3.0.9 need to be updated after upgrading to 3.0.9. ssoauthx.pks is updated in 3.0.9 and contains additional routines that need to be implemented." ??
If I go to the "Login Server Administration" portlet and select the link "Administer External Applications" I get a list of 5 External Applications that have previously been set up.
If I go back to the Home Page and select "customize" on the "External Applications" portlet I get the message "Your Login Server administrator has not registered any external applications".
Does that mean I should just run 'ssoauthx.pks' & 'ssoxoid.pkb' or do I need to do something else ??
    Thanks
    Simo

  • Log in User

On my log in window, my administrator icon account shows up, and also another icon that says (other). I click on it and it ask me for name and password.
I can log in on my administrator account and i checked for other users but it doesn't show any other users, can someone help me how to take the account displayed as (other) off the login widow please.

The stuff is still there but 'hidden'. The search suggested by 'baltwo' will lead you to several threads arising from people renaming their home folder and either not using the prolix 'apple' method or not using Dan Frakes app, 'Change User Shortname' which does the same job as the apple method.
It is not clear to me if the 'login' query is fully answered. 'Other' is a name used for the root user. Some say best to leave it au naturelle, disabled, others say enable it, password it then disable it.
It really is time Apple made it more difficult to rename the home folder without a stern warning, if only to free up space in these forums. Though you could lose a home folder through a corruption of the netinfo databse, a situation that will also be disclosed per baltwo's lead. Michael Conniff specialises in answers on that point though others do.
