Administration link in Content Area

Hi,
I understabd that 3.0.9 can disable Admin Link on the top right hand portion.
I have successfully install 3.0.9 on Solaris, how do I disable the Admin Link ?
regards

Alvin,
Are you taking about the link on the edit mode of a folder? If so, that link cannot be removed.
In any case, the contents of the administration page is security sensitive will fewer links for users with fewer privileges.

Is there an automated way an to check for bad URL links in Content Areas??

    Guy,
You should be able to browse through Oracle9iAS Portal with any link checker available on the market. Some products may only let you check public content.
We have plans to add this functionality to the product directly in a future release.
    Good luck,

  • Moving a folder, Linking between content areas

    I have 2 problems:
    1) So far we developed all our content in a single content area. We would now like to split the information into multiple content areas. The MOVE or COPY command on the folder only allows me to copy within a content area. I have hundreds of documents to move. Is there any way i can move a folder to a different content area?
    2) What is the best way to link a folder from 1 content area to a folder in another content area? I found that the FOLDER LINK ITEM allows me to connect only within a content area.
(I would prefer not to use an URL since the content publishers may not be able to construct complicated paths or the paths may change leading to broken links.)

    1) The only way to do this currently is to create an export of the content area, import it back into the portal and remove the duplicate content. We are planning a bulk action feature in a future release that would allow you do to selectively copy/move one or more folders into a new content area.
    2) Currently folder links are scoped within a content area; the only option is to link to the folder through a URL folder type. If you use the generated URL that contains the folder ID, you shouldn't run into any problems if the target folder is moved. I have submitted an enhancement request to extend the folder link to 'remote' folders outside of the 'home' content area.

  • Link to content area - portlet not available

I have a link to a content area in that I open from another application. Occassionally, I get a "portlet not available" message. Is this related to navigating directly to the document repository? It works most of the time.
    So 3 questions:
Is it acceptable to navigate directly to the content area? (My users then log on and store documents)
Am I getting the "portlet not available" message because of navigating to the content area this way?
Is there another reason I'm getting this message?
    Thank you

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • Link to Content Area from ASP page brings up default page

I have a link on an ASP to the content area. When the user clicks on the link, he/she is required by the portal to provide their username/password. After entering the correct information, the users are displayed their default page NOT taken to the content area.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • Link to content area from a folder portlet

We have deployed a folder portlet and a perspective portlet on a portal page. Each portlet is part of a small region on the page and rather than navigate through the folders in the portlet, we want to open the folder in the content area. So when a user selects the folder link in the folder portlet, the folder in the content area is opened.
At present the sub-folders are displayed in the small portlet region until we select an item which opens in a new window...
    Thanks

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • Opening KM links in content area instead of new window?

    Hi,
We're having problems with the Resource Renderer option: Target Window Type which we - according to SAP's official documentation - need to set to self for KM links to open in the content area instead of popping up in a new window. However, this does not seem to work.
Tried looking through the already existing threads of the forum and there are several older threads concerning the issue but no solution (that I could find, anyway).
    Any suggestions? We're on 7.01, SP 6.
    Kind regards,
    Rasmus
A short update: The parameter actually works when setting it for the ressource renderer of one of SAP's standard layout-sets, for instance 'AdminExplorer', but it only works for layout-sets including both a tree view and a folder view navigation (and in this case only for the folder view navigation). I cannot seem to get it to work on simple lists! It seems that the Layout Controller defined on the layout-set has control over the "Target Window Type" parameter...
But I still need it for simple lists. HELP.

    Hi Rasmus
I haven't tried to develop a new layout controller, but as I recall the layout controller only controls the areas you divide your collections into. I don't think is has anything to do with the rendering of documents (and navigation). But perhaps the different areas of a layout controller can be referenced.
    I would investigate the following:
    1)
You could consider developing a property renderer (and reference that in the displayed properties of the collection renderer) that opens the document in the content window. If navigation is controlled by portal events, the back button in the browser will not work, thus disrupting the user experience.
    2)
Examine the AdminExplorer layoutset to see how it works, and see if the coding can be transferred to your need. You will need a developer for this task.

  • How to disable category link in content area

    Hi,
I have a lots of categories in a content area. As u all know, a link appears for all categories in the category header.
Clicking that will take you to that particular category.
I do not want to have that link. I have tried what was mentioned in earlier question to disable portlet header link.
    <a font color=white></font>
Bue that's not working for category links.
    Please help.
    Murthy

    Hi,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/cc/f4e77ddef1244380b06fee5f8b892a/frameset.htm you find the relevant guidelines.
You can filter the PCD object setting the Search Layout Set of your Searc Iview.
In System Admin > System Configuration > Content Management > User Interface > Settings > Layout Set and duplicate the "SearchResultLayoutSet" layout set.
Then you have to duplicate its Collection Renderer "StandardSearchResultRenderer".
In its property "Resource Types to be Filtered" set as value "-http://sap.com/xmlns/pcd/app/iview".
Then assign the new Collection Renderer to the new Layout Set and that's it!
Now if yuor Search Iview uses this new Layout Set, when you search a PCD object the iviews will not be shown!
    (or)
In the entry "Predefined Properties" of the search options set, you will need to enter "resourcetype(value=http://sap.com/xmlns/pcd/app/page/default)" if you want the search to be limited to resources defined as pages. Leave out /default if you dont want the end user to be able to change the filter.
If you want the parameter reflected in the URL, you can find information about how to do it here: /message/280371#280371 [original link is broken]
    Check and try either ways.

  • Invalid URL Link in Content Area

    Hi,
When I create a URL item which display directly on the Content Area. If I
enter a invalid URL addres, the system will show an error when I view the
folder, which is fine. However, it will disable me to see other item on the
same folder and there is also no way to delete that invalid URL item at all.
The only way is to delete the folder which will in turn delete all the items
under that folder, which, is not acceptable. Is there some form of solution ?

    Alvin,
    Please see thread http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum82/HTML/000067.html .
I encourage everyone to search the forum to see if your question has already been answered.

  • Make content area Folder Names within Portlets non-linkable fields

We would like to only allow the administrator to be allowed link to content areas so as to maintain a consistent look and feel and not allow the user to leave Portal.

Thanks for the info, however, turning off the header region also
eliminates the "customize" feature -- which is something I would
like my users to have. Also, I think you may be mistaken (or
maybe I wasn't clear) about the approval icon. It does NOT
appear when a folder is rendered through a portlet, regardless
of folder ownership. It only appears when a folder is rendered
    as a page.
I am looking forward to the next release.
p.s. I see the new find feature has been added since my last
    post.

  • Content area views

How is possible to see which items need approval.
this link for Content area views doesn't work any other link for Content area views? http://technet.oracle.com/products/iportal/files/pdk/plsql/doc/sdk23vws.htm

This will do it in Portal 3.0.6:
    SELECT DISTINCT c.title folder_title
    , a.title
    , a.author
    , a.createdate
    , a.cornerid

  • Web-center content Administration link

    Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to make a normal OID user a admin so that he will be able to see "Administration" link in webcenter content server console (/cs).
The user base is OVD(OID and AD). I have follow the steps where I made a group in OID named as "WC_Admin" and assigned the Admin role within the WebLogic domain security realm to the "WC_admin" as explained in section 15.2.2.2  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/core.1111/e12037/oam.htm#BEJCECIC
The member of group WC_admin not able to see the "Administration" link in webcenter content server console (/cs)...is this default behavior or I need to do something else?
    Rgds,
    Vinay

    Hi ,
So the assumption was correct as in the role on AD itself is the root cause .
Just because a group is named WC_Admin on AD does not give it admin privileges.  If you want to have some users with admin role then create a credential map on UCM and provide this map :
    wc_admin , admin
Then add the map name to <domain_home>/ucm/cs/data/providers/jpsuserprovider/provider.hda file :
    ProviderCredentialsMap=<CredentialMapName>
Restart the server and then users who are under wc_admin group on AD post-login will be given admin role on ucm and Administration link will be displayed .
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks,

  • Document links and Tables in a content area

    Hello,
    1. I'm having problems with text items in a content area. I'm trying to make a link to a document in a text item but I only get a 'Page can not be found'. I know I have to change the httpd.conf file settings but so far I have not been able to set it up correctly. How should the excact line look?
In this case I whant to put all my documents in a folder tree in the 'portal_home' directory. For instense:MHC(root folder)/HR/employees.doc or MHC/Finance/Strategy.xls
    2. Why is it not possible to make 'invisible tables' in a text item? This way its possible to control the text mutch more and also (as in my case) include pictures within the text. If you want to produce a nice Intranet, the only way with portal (so far) is to make text items, becurse these are the only ones that you can display directly in a folder area and keep the navigation bar to the left. This way the users wont get lost in all the pages and folders.
The problem is this:I want to use the style I've made on all my folders (this way it's easy to change the apperance of all the folders in just moments) BUT if I put a table in the text item (html code) then suddenly portal takes the default settings of the browser instead!!? So if I have set my browser to Arial 15 this is the text I se instead of the text in my style.
Please , do anyone have a suggestion?
    I using Portal 3.0.7.6.2 (9iAS 1.0.2) on NT

I assume you are trying to put an anchor tag in a text item, that points to a document stored elsewhere in the Portal repository.
Use a direct access URL (search the online help for info on these) to construct the link to the document. You can use a relative URL by leaving out the "http://server.domain:port" part of the URL - e.g. {a href="/pls/portal30/docs/FOLDER/MYROOTFOLDER/MYSUBFOLDER/MyDocument.DOC"} - I'm using {} here instead of <> because real tags get messed up in these forum messages.
The Portal FAQ explains how to use httpd.conf to define a redirect directive.

  • XML Form - Link open in Portal Content Area

I have created an XML form which displays a list of images as links to KM documents (eg a Read More... link).
The problem I have run into is that any link that you click on opens up in a new window.
Is there a setting somewhere that indicates that all links should be opened in the portal content area, rather than in a new window?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Kind Regards
    Rasim

    Rasim,
    You can try doing this.
    Logon to Portal.
Click Personalize option on the top left corner and choose work protect mode.
Choose "Discard unsaved data (open page in same window)"
    Save and Exit.
    Logoff and relogin and check.
    Hope this helps.
