Administration Utilities - System Health Monitor - alui 6.1
I'm curious if there is a way I can turn the System Health Monitor utility into a portlet?
It seems like there should an easy way to do this, but I can't seem to find it. Any insight you might be able to provide on either the System Health Monitor or the administration utilities. Or anything that might help for that matter, would be be most appreciated.
Thanks,
-Kevin
Hi geoffgarcia, thanks for looking into my question. I have tried to pass the existing URL back in, as you have suggested, but with no luck. For example:
> Create new Web Service : URL : http://[MYPORTALSERVER]/portal/server.pt?open=space&name=diagnostic&psname=ObjMgr&psid=3&cached=true&control=EditorStart&editorType=10
and then generate a portlet to that service. When I add that portlet to my homepage it throws a
"Error Error - The server has experienced an error. Try again or contact your portal administrator if you continue experiencing problems."
error, but doesn't log the error. View source shows the error to be
"Current User does not have sufficient permission to object with id = 52: com.plumtree.server.marshalers.PTException.... blah blah blah...."
Any ideas? Maybe I'm missing a glaringly obvious setting/configuration?
Thanks again,
-Kevin

Daily System Health monitoring report from SOLMAN
Hi Experts,
I am working on a project where I need to triiger a consolidated system health report from sol man, much like early watch report.
Only thing is that it should be generated daily for each system.
Well That makes the expectation.
Progress so far :-
a. Applied E2E120 for managed system ie Technical monitoring is working for that system.
Challenge :-
a. Generating a consolidated report, with checklists for system logs, dumps, qrfc / trfc's. As Technical monitoring is giving these info separately.
b. Options in technical monitoring are too many and not sure which can deliver what i am looking for.
a. IT Performance reporting
b. Service level reporting
c. SDCCN Reporting.
d. or automatic configure reporting.
c. The report has to be generated periodically only once in a day. It should not be alert monitoring that an system alert triggers a mail and management is bombarded with too many mails.
Any valuable suggestion will be very helpful and will certainly be rewarded.
Thanks
AbhijeetHi Jhansi,
few things first, I have really liked your blogs and forum discussion on Sol Man. They have been really very helpful.
Now, after spending around 2-3 days on it, Closest bet is "IT Performance reporting". With this i am compromising with consolidated report. (Just hoping management agrees for it )
But here is the new challenge I am going through. It is the web templates to use for specific checklist.
I used below link.
http://help.sap.de/saphelp_sm71_sp05/helpdata/en/3f/ecbef23769488f806177717adee541/content.htm?frameset=/en/a3/074aa01bbe4662b99bc20ec5263cf8/frameset.htm¤t_toc=/en/81/6f8fe54f854ef2bd412c8660f5ed6e/plain.htm&node_id=463
I need template for System logs, qrfc, trfc, PI messages etc. It is not present in the link provided. Even searched on SMP, it was not available. Can we manually create and use the web templates.
Also when i used such templates, I am getting following error message in the monitoring
Let me know your inputs.
Thanks

Cisco Prime Network Control System Health Monitor Reflected XSS
Apologies for the n00b question,
I am a security manager not a Cisco guru so please bear with me
Our Nessus scanner has picked this vulnerability up
Nessus states that there is no fix
Looking on Cisco's bug search the status is set to fixed,
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCud18375
I found this article on Cisco's website
Multiple Vulnerabilities in the WLSE Appliance - Cisco 2011-12-10
There are two vulnerabilities that exist in the CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE). The first is a cross site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that may allow an attacker to gain administrative privileges on the system. The second is a local privilege escalation vulnerability that can be used by an attacker who already has authenticated access to the command line interface to obtain access to the underlying operating system. Cisco has made free software available to address this vulnerability for affected customers. This advisory is available at http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20060419-wlse
Is WLSE part of WCS or am I grasping at straws here? Our techies don't seem to think so
We are currently running CISCO Wireless Controller System (WCS) running on Version 7.0.240.0 which is end of life
Is there an upgrade path for newer software?
Has anyone else encountered this issue
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/8303161. Its possible but some sort of lock/bug is preventing the removal of the controller. Is the controller reachable? Have you attempted to restart NCS to see if you are able to remove the controller afterwards?
2. 8510 not supported on NCS, you must upgrade to Cisco Prime 1.3.x or higher.

System Health Checks Utilities
Hi Linux Gurus,
I need to understand some of the outputs of basic system health checks utilities - vmstat, netstat, iostat. As DBA point of view when I run any of the above utilities - what things I should look for. How can I know, the network traffic is high or network is not performing properly by using netstat. How can I know that the system I/O is high. Also I saw that there are many flags for these utilities which are very helpful to format or limit the output to a certain extent.
I will really appreciate the help on this topic.
Best Regards
-Samar-Hi Samar
A graphical tool like sourceforge.net/projects/xosview/ can make a part of the job, otherwise does oracle the OS Watcher (OSW) is a set of scripts that continually run in the background, collecting information about: Processes I/O Memory Network
OS Watcher user’s guide in MetaLink note 301137.1
Hope this helps.

Alerts subtab is missing Cannot find the Health Monitoring add-in
I'm running a Windows Server 2012 R2 with Essentials Services. I ended up switching domains with this server. I completely uninstalled Essentials server and all the dependent components with no reported errors.
I reinstalled everything with no errors. Now when I go to the dashboard I'm getting the following errors.
Alerts subtab is missing - Title
Cannot find the Health Monitoring add-in. Please verify and make sure that the add-in is correctly installed.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing Essentials a couple of times but with no luck.
Is there a way to repair this problem without wiping everything and starting over?
James GlennBelow is what I found in the logs that seemed pertinent.
Those Dlls are there. I'm wondering if its a security issue?

Satellite P855-108 - PC health Monitor fails to update - Windows 8.1 update
Hello,
today updated to win 8.1 from a one year old windows 8, everything went fine
Then I followed Toshiba recommendations for updating the tools but despite doing exactly as explained the flash cards(and the functions buttons) are not functioning, they worked perfectly in win 8!
_The only utility that fails to update is PC health monitor,_ the version installed is 1.9.04.6402 and the one from support site for win 8.1 is 1.9.09.6400, when trying to install it fails with error message "not support"
When trying to open the installed health monitor there is also an error message "can`t get the bios type".
This is strange and every other utility recognizes the latest bios version 6.70 an the laptop`s details an serial
I tried all I could think about, installed flash card support tool from win 8, enabling and disabling in the bios, even installed VAP for win 8 but no change
Any help would be highly appreciated
Latest system driver and other tools are installed
Thanks in advanceSorry for taking space on the forum,
_In case anyone is facing the same problem I managed to find a solution by my self,_
*it was caused by the old version of PC health monitor,*
uninstalled, updated to latest version
Now Function key utility and everything works as supposed, _the latest Health monitor also works fine_ -
Satellite L500-1XD - cannot find an update for PC health monitor
This TBS advises updates to PC health monitor and HDD/SDD alert.
HDD/SDD alert has a published update in the relevant downloads section but I cannot find an update for PC health monitor.
Any one got any bright ideas ?
Otherwise this seems quite a balanced system.Hi Paolo30,
Thanks for your contribution. I agree with your model designation
I would like to download ver 1.5.6.0 but it does not seem to be listed on the download list (Two and a quarter pages long) for the L500-1XD on the Toshiba-Europe website. I am using I.E.8
Where are you seeing this listed ? Could you give me a URL please ?
It is an important update as it resolves a conflict between video streaming from HD and SMART HD messages as described in the TSB.
The only upgrade that is tagged as 1.5.6.0 is the Bullitin Board and this does not sound like the correct type of application. There was obviously a major update on 21/6/2010 there are 30 odd updates with that date.

Qosmio F60-00Y- Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor crash
Hi,
Just started having problems today with my Qosmio F60-00Y, purchased June 2010. I do have extended warranty but just wanted a quick fix since system is still operational.
As I have lost my factory settings recovery I can not reset my system.
It is working fine at the moment as long as I don't open both programs Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor.
When I open one, system decides to freeze and fan speed accelerates and it shuts the notebook down. I have done system restore several times too and same problem still happens.
I have reinstalled both programs from:
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download
After re-installing assuming, programs will run fine again. Same thing happens, crashes and shuts down.
I do regular virus and anti spy-wear check up with trend micro 2012 and still active every 7 days and defragment the system every 7 days.
No viruses and spy-wear found.
PLEASE HELP!
thanks,
Lem S.It is not easy to say how you can fix this.
Try to remove all problematic applications, clean registry entries and try to install it again. -

I getting an error from sun management console
Health Monitor sd0 Disk Rule Disk loaded, don't add more load to disk
Can anyone help me what is this is any error or H/W failure. This is the description you can see in your SunMC Console:
"Rule Description: Disk I/O Rule - Compares the disk busy and service time values with the thresholds specified"
It compares what percent of the time the disk is busy to your threshold percentage, and the time it takes to service average disk requests to another target value.
In your case the "Parameter Description" fields says how it determined your disk was loaded:
"if(Disk Service Time Warning<=Service Time) and (Service Time<Disk Service Time Problem).
Disk loaded, do not add more load to disk: Alert
else (Disk Service Time Problem<Service Time).
Disk loaded, do not add more load to disk: Critical"
So, it's comparing how long it takes your disk to service average I/O requests ("Service Time" (in ms))... and it's detecting it taking too long based on the thresholds set in the module ( > 20ms = Warning, > 30ms = Critical).
Either reduce the load on the system, buy faster disks, spread the load over more disks, or... if you think the system is running fine... tune the thresholds upwards so they don't trigger anymore. Remember, a system that's low on physical memory will begin to page/swap... which causes disk I/O. And memory pressure will prevent Solaris from caching your disks effectively... also causing excessive disk I/O. So you may also want to look at low memory as a root-cause of these alarms.

It is run by teh system automatically every time a critical error is encountered and can run health checks like block corruption check, data dictionray consistencey checks and so on. It is a hidden underscore parameter which manages the autotask and I will not tell you here which one, you must find out yourself!
Do not switch it off !!!! Its a great freature!
All information related to a critical error is put intot the Autimatic Diagnostic Rerpository (ADR) .
You can run health checks manually as well with the package.
Hope it helps,

I can not get some of the icons on the bulletin board to open such as the health monitor. Anyone know why?

Import System Center Monitoring Pack for System Center 2012 - Service Manager into SCOM 2007 R2
I would like to know if there is SCSM 2012 SP1 MP available for SCOM 2007 R2 ?
I downloaded the "System Center Monitoring Pack for System Center 2012 - Service Manager" MP from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29980 and then import into SCOM 2007 R2, however, I found that there are some MP dependencies issue.
For example, the "Microsoft System Center Service Manager Library" MP requires "Microsoft SystemCenter Library" and "System.Health.Library" MPs of version 7.0.8427.0. Howerver, the "Microsoft SystemCenter Library"
and "System.Health.Library" MP in SCOM 2007 R2 is of version 6.1.7221.0Import Management Pack from DVD disk SCOM 2012 R2

Satellite A660-17T - PC Health Monitor shows problem with battery health
I have an A660-17T which I've had since November 2010, I've used it a fair amount but not always on battery, I'd estimate that the battery has between 10 and 20 charge/discharge cycles on it.
I updated the BIOS to v1.80 when I first got the laptop, everything seemed to be fine. Recently, within the last 2-3 weeks the health monitor software is reporting that the battery is in poor health, showing that the capacity is reduced to 40% of the original capacity. I don't believe this as when I do run on battery I get several hours usage.
I have today updated to BIOS v1.90, although there is no changelog that I can find, it just says "improved features" or similar.
Is this really a failing battery, or is it somehow that the software is incorrectly reading the value of capacity from the battery pack due to a change in Windows or some other change in the system? I can't see how a battery can run for the same amount of time it always did and actually have a fault.
Any thoughts? Should I go back to the retailer and report this as a fault, or is it worth waiting to see if a future OS or driver update fixes this?
Thoughts welcome!Hey,
> I don't believe this as when I do run on battery I get several hours usage.
That means you have the same battery remaining time as before you saw the error message from PC health monitor?!
In this case it seems that the battery is ok and maybe its just wrong information from the Toshiba tool. So I would recommend reinstalling PC Health Monitor that you can download from official Toshiba website:

Administration Utilities in 11gR1 UCM
I would like to run Administration Utilities as standalone applications instead of running them as applets from within Content Server.
I am running UCM/WebLogic 11gR1 on Windows 7. I do not have any Administration Utilities in my Start Menu.
I found a few spots that talked about changing some stuff in System Properties to set it up, however I cannot even find that in my Start Menu.
Any help in how to run the Admin Applets as standalone applications would be great.
Thanks,
JonathanYou get access to the admin utilities easily enough. I am sure it is documented somewhere but I do not know where...
Steps I have found to work
1)Login to UCM as weblogic
2)Go to UserAdmin applet and restore the sysadmin password to idc (it is a crime for it to be anything else on a dev system) you need to do this
3)You can run SystemProperties from <middleware_home>/user_projects/domains/<your_domain>/ucm/cs/bin/SystemProperties (you will find all your old friends in here!
4)Add the JDBC details so you can connect to the Java apps that need DB access (like archiver etc.) on the Database tab. I will guess that youl need to use the Oracle JDBC thin driver so select this and then fill in the details for JDBC user/passwd and connection string.
5)Start Batchloader/Archiver etc. from <middleware_home>/user_projects/domains/<your_domain>/ucm/cs/bin/ and login with the sysadmin credentials
If this works for you please mark the thread as answered as I expect others may benefit from this too.
