Administrator account error:

I am signed in as administrator on my desktop PC (Pavillion a1719n).  I have to enter a password to sign in.  When I go to the user accounts info, I am listed as the only administrator and only user of the PC.   I received this PC from my son and changed the administrator name and pw from his to my info.  But when I try to download videos from Youtube, it says I do not have permission and need to ask an administrator, at the same time I am signed in as administrator.  A few times I was able to download the videos if I first shared them to Facebook and worked from there.  Now even that little trick won't work.  I never had this problem on my other HP.  How can this be fixed so it recognizes me as the administrator?

I'm not real sure about this but when you visit YouTube you might be auto-logging on using your son's YouTube ID which now doesn't match your computer User ID since you changed it.
If this sounds plausible to you; I woud log out of the YouTube account and create a new YouTube account and then try downloading videos.  What I'm implying is that the Administrator account error is resulting from YouTube trying to match the YouTube User ID with your Windows User ID and not succeeding.
Good luck.

  • Unable to log into administrator account after software update

I've done a clean installation of server 10.5 on a G5 Xserve using the simplified "workgroup" setting. Created a named administrator account as part of the setup. Once passed the initial setup screens I did a software update to 10.5.8. After reboot I'm locked out of the named administrator account. I can still log in as root and localadmin using the same password. However, I don't see any accounts listed under the Users tab in Server Preferences. I've done nothing to this system other than answer a few standard questions during install and then update software.
This result is repeatable as I tried simply reinstalling the server OS figuring I must have done something wrong the first time. In fact the reason I'm reinstalling in the first place is related to this problem. Something caused all my admin and user accounts to go away on the original server setup. Couldn't figure it out so I decided to do a fresh install. I realize now it was likely related to a software update.
When logged in as root and using Console I see errors like "'No LDAP Master' while processing a command of type: 'readSettings' in plug-in: 'servermgr_accounts'". I'm a newbie to the server world and I'm not sure what that means.
There should be nothing remotely fancy going on here. Simply a stand alone server getting a fixed IP from a router. A single admin account, no directory services. Before the software update everything seemed fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I have same issue and i have resolve so.
    login as root and password
Verify if you have in /Users/xyz : your admin home folder
if yes, create a new user with : Preference System, Account, create new user
set as Administrator, give same name as your /Users/xyz home folder
then click OK, a message will appeart that the folder exist, click YES.
    that's resolve my issue

  • Problem with software update - now can't log on to administrator account

    Hello -
I updated software yesterday and didn't pay attention to what was updating. I always just install the updates when they come up.
Now I can't login to my administrator account or change the password. I could log into another account, but iTunes won't stay open. It opens for about 10 seconds then closes.
So I'm assuming that the updates were a mac OSX update and an iTunes update.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix?
Is there anyway to "undo" the most recent update?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    -jamendan

Hi jamendan, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.

I have a similar problem on the MacBook at work: 100% reproducible crash when trying to access the iTunes store. It also crashes frequently running ad-related JavaScript on a financial newspaper's web site. Stack traces of the crashed thread in the crash logs are what make me think my issue is JavaScript-related. Here's a stack trace from a crashed iTunes:

Resetting all iTunes preferences hasn't fixed this and neither has running on another account on the same computer. My private MacBook Pro is fine. I suspect a corrupt file somewhere (I have repaired permissions).

  • Administrator account is disable when deploying windows 7 x64 captured image

I’m using MDT 2012 update 1. I create one deployment share with two task sequence.
The task sequences are: one for windows 7 x86 and the other one is windows 7 x64.
Both are working fine until I try to sysprep and capture with all the windows updates.
Sysprep and capture windows 7 x86 with all windows update work fine. I’m able to deploy the captured image without an error.
My problem is with the windows 7 x64 captured image. I’m able to sysprep and capture the windows7 x64 with all the windows update. Once the capture is completed, I change the .win file in my windows 7 x64 task sequence to point to the new .win file (capture
image with all the windows update). When I deploy windows 7 x64 on a pc, the OS get install but boot up to the sign on screen. The Task sequence does not complete. No error message. Cannot log in as local or domain administrator, account is disable.
Why does it work with my windows 7 x86 image and not with my windows 7 x64 image?
With my windows 7 x86 image the task sequence completed successfully with no error and it logon automatically in windows but not with my windows 7 x64 image.
Both task sequences are the same.
Let me know if any info for this please.
    thanks

They should both work, perhaps you missed a step when creating the x64 image.
    1. Verify that the Windows 7 x64 image was created cleanly, with no errors. Sysprep ran with no errors.
    2. Verify that you created the windows 7 deployment task sequence cleanly. I would do a windiff of the TS.xml and unattend.xml file from both folders in the deployment share.
    3. Try running without a domain. Some domain's have a GP set to disable the local administrator account.

  • Administrative installing error

Ok for the past week I've been trying to upgrade or uninstall adobe air. I'm running on a windows vista SP2 32-bit. The error I receive when I try to upgrade, uninstall or install is "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator." I've tried everything from trying to install throught the command prompt in administrative mode, using back up safe mode and running as administrator, opening the hidden administrator account, and many others. Some how I was able to uninstall my old version of adobe air but I still can't install the updated or later versions. I would grately appreciate the help and I got this note pad before the old version somehow dissappeared...

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 - Drivers Not Installing, Local Administrator Account Disabled

After PXE OSD for a Thick Image of Win 7 x64 Ent completes, several Task Sequence steps are not complete. Namely, 3 device drivers are missing (NIC, SM Bus and some other chipset driver), the built-in Administrator Account is disabled and it's not Domain
    joined.
I have already re-created the thick WIM twice. It was built in a VMware VM then captured with SCCM Capture Media. The NIC is a Realtek and I have downloaded the most recent version of the drivers from HP's site and added them to a driver package which is
deployed. I even added several older drivers to my Boot Image and created to 2 steps to add drivers in the Task Sequence - one automatically installs the best drivers, the other installs a package with 7 NIC drivers. When I get the error during PXE OSD, I
press F8 and the machine has an IP address and the driver for the NIC appears to be correct. Upon rebooting, Windows completes setup but the Administrator Account is not enabled and the NIC driver is missing, etc.
Here is the portion of the log where errors begin to show up (from D:\SMSTSLog). Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you for the reply, you're right the problem is with an image being applied, but not the OS image.
The issue is that for some reason, there were 2 images captured and SCCM automatically created a step for both. Image 2-2 is the valid Windows image, but image 1-1 clearly has some issues. I disabled the that step in the Task Sequence and it installed drivers
and completed the rest of the Task Sequence!

  • Domain Administrator account being locked up by PDC

    Hi everyone,
My PDC is locking up my domain administrator (administrateur in french) account.
    System event logs :
The SAM database was unable to lockout the account of Administrateur due to a resource error, such as a hard disk write failure (the specific error code is in the error data) . Accounts are locked after a certain number of bad passwords are provided so please
consider resetting the password of the account mentioned above.
    Level : Error
    Source : Directory-Services-SAM
    Event ID : 12294
    Computer : Contoso-PDC
    User : System
There is absolutely no events in the security events log, not a single "Audit Failure" event for the "administrateur" account.
I tried to change the name of the domain administrator account from "administrateur" to "administrator".
Now there is "Audit failure" events poping up in the security event logs.
Once again the Source Workstation is the PDC. I guess those events are there because it receive credential validation for an account who doesn't exist anymore since it have been renamed in "Administrator".
Here is the detail log :
An account failed to log on.
    Subject:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: -
    Account Domain: -
    Logon ID: 0x0
    Logon Type: 3
    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: Administrateur
    Account Domain: CONTOSO
    Failure Information:
Failure Reason: Unknown user name or bad password.
    Status: 0xc000006d
    Sub Status: 0xc0000064
    Process Information:
    Caller Process ID: 0x0
    Caller Process Name: -
    Network Information:
    Workstation Name: CONTOSO-PDC
    Source Network Address: -
    Source Port: -
    Detailed Authentication Information:
    Logon Process: NtLmSsp
    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Transited Services: -
    Package Name (NTLM only): -
    Key Length: 0
This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
    - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
    - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
    - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.
On the PDC i checked :
Services : None of them are started with the "administrateur" account
Network Share : There is no network share ...
Task Scheduler : None of the tasks are launch with the "administrateur" account.
And the logon type (3:network) seem to indicate that the login comes from an other computer but i have nothing to look for, not a single IP.
    Any ideas?
ps : Sorry for the probable english mistakes :(

    Hi,
    Thanks for you answers.
    San4wish :
Lockout tool confirm that the domain administrator account is locked on my PDC. I didn't run eventcomb but i though it only helped parsing security event logs which i did "manually". Anyway i'll try eventcomb after this week end.
About the conficker worm : I looked into it and this worm was exploiting a vulnerability in the server service. It have been patched by MS08-067 (KB958644) and this kb isn't available for Windows 2008 R2 and Windwos 2012 so i guess Windows 2008 R2 have
    fixed this vulnerabilty.
So i doubt its a conficker type worm.
Also i gave the PDC role to another DC (let's call him DC2) and now DC2 is locking the administrator account so it seems that the computer locking the account is doing it through the network and it's not something executed on the DCs.

  • Factory set password for Windows Vista built-in administrator account?

I am attempting access the Vista built-in administrator account, which normally is not passworded unless the user does so. Mine, however, has a password that was set 11/20/2010 at 9:57:24 PM.

No. But some programs like the Google Updater (if you added the Google Toolbar, Chrome or Google Earth) have been known to cause this problem.

  • ABAP+JAVA System Copy -- Administrator account getting locked

    Hi,
I am in the process of doing system copy of my portal to a new server. As per the SAP instructions, I had updated the JDK and SP levels of my EP to the latest supported ones.
Now when i am doing JAVA Add-in Export of my system, SAPinst is throwing error that --
"Error connecting to http://Entportal:50000/sap/monitoring/SystemInfoServlet. The provided user data might be incorrect or user might be locked.:
and when I check the "administrator" user account, it is getting locked. Even though I manually unlock it and update the password is secure storage, still when I run SAPinst, again it is getting locked. I have also chnged the path of my temporary directory to c:\temp which has no spacees in it, according to SAP instructions.
I have raised the issue through OSS, but still, in the mean time can sombody help me?
    Regards,
    Mandar

    Hi Akshay,
I am not using any ID. SAPInst itself is trying to access systeminformationservlet using administrator account. at this stage it is failing to get the correct password and thats why my administrator account is getting locked.

if does it a way to create a new server farm with administrator account so please help to create it ?
    thanks dear
    Great Regards :
    Raha
whit the best regard : Raha

    Hi Raha,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you created a new farm with the administrator account by runnning configuration wizard.
Is the SQL Server installed in the server that hosted SharePoint 2013 Foudation? If not, please make sure the server hosted SQL Server has the same account with the server hosted SharePoint 2013 Foudation.
Please run the SharePoint 2013 Products Configuration wizard with ‘Run as administrator’.When you entered the user’s name, please use the format ‘domain\user_name’.
In addition, please check the log file to find more information about this issue. The path is : C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
Also , you can use Event Viewer to find the log by Start->Run->event viewer.
Here is an article for installing and configuring SharePoint 2013,  please take a look at:
    http://sharepointv15.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/installing-sharepoint-2013-preview/
    I hope this helps.

  • Unable to open any applications in administrator account

My OS is 10.6.2. Just tonight, I was unable to open any applications in my administrator account (Safari, iCal, iTunes, calculator, system preferences, etc.). In other words, I can't do anything while logged into my administrator account. However, everything works fine if I log into the guest account. Any suggestions? I have restarted my computer and that did not help.

What happens when you try to launch applications? Do you see error messages?
Check the behavior in Safe Mode by restarting the computer with the Shift key held down. Booting will take a while longer--this is normal, so just be patient.

  • MDT 2012 - Litetouch deploy windows 8 with different administrator account

I have created and captured a custom image of Windows 8 using MDT2012 update 1 and Windows ADK (without SCCM). In the image, I have set an account called DeployUser, with password XXX, adding it to the Administrators group, and I have disabled the User
    Account Control.
I did this because the Administrator account is renamed from GPO and the password is changed every 30 days (for security reasons, the password is not disclosed to any IT support).
Next, I created a TS to deploy this image, adding the installation of some software.
In the Unattend.xml, I also added DeployUser to perform the autologon.
After the first logon with DeployUser, the TS stops and does not return any error message.
If I manually run C: \ ProgramData \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Start-up \ LiteTouch.lnk nothing happens, however, if I run it with "Run as Administrator", the TS continues normally.
Somebody who knows a solution for this?

I believe MDT LiteTouch deployments only recognize the Administrator account name for processing task sequences.
Are you joining the domain during an MDT Litetouch deployment? If so, you may want to delay joining to a domain or GPO processing. Take a look at these recommendations:
Domain Policies that break MDT 2010
It may also be possible to disable GPO processing until the end of the taks sequence via a reghack or disabling a service. Take a look at this:
    How to Disable/Enable Group Policy
BTW, the task sequence engine in ConfigMgr prevents GPO processing during an OSD.

    Hi Sushant,
    >>Not Able to Promote DC to server even i am using built in  Administrator Account.
I have seen your thread "Verification of prerequisites for Domain Controller promotion failed" and provided a reply.

  • Unable to enroll fingerprints for the Win7 built-in Administrator account

In Windows 7 I tried to enroll fingerprints for the built-in Administrator account, but doing so failed every time with the error message The enrollment could not be completed.
I could not find a solution online and the Validity software was working just fine, as there were no issues with other users on the same system. As a work-around, I created another account with administrator privileges and enrolling the fingerprints worked just fine. My guess is that the permissions for the built-in Administrator account are different from any administrator account you can create yourself. What I noticed is that any self created account is part of the Users group, and that the built-in Administrator account is not part of this group. I'm not sure, but maybe this is the cause of the problem.
Anyway, I thought I would share my experience here, in case anyone else encounters the same problem.

    same issue in build 10049.
It would help to be more specific in the symptom description.  E.g. using Narrator may help.  (Win-Enter).  Does it say what you are "seeing" (or should be seeing)?
FWIW I think it is relatively easy to reproduce symptoms which are related to this thread's description using Narrator (Start Screen without Search bar, Search bar without Taskbar, or Search bar with Taskbar but without Start Menu
when the only time that the Search bar should appear is when the Start Menu is there, for example) so that could also help specify what your real symptom is.  BTW there are horrendous delays when using Narrator.
