Administrator account is disable when deploying windows 7 x64 captured image

I’m using MDT 2012 update 1. I create one deployment share with two task sequence.
The task sequences are: one for windows 7 x86 and the other one is windows 7 x64.
Both are working fine until I try to sysprep and capture with all the windows updates.
Sysprep and capture windows 7 x86 with all windows update work fine. I’m able to deploy the captured image without an error.
My problem is with the windows 7 x64 captured image. I’m able to sysprep and capture the windows7 x64 with all the windows update. Once the capture is completed, I change the .win file in my windows 7 x64 task sequence to point to the new .win file (capture
image with all the windows update). When I deploy windows 7 x64 on a pc, the OS get install but boot up to the sign on screen. The Task sequence does not complete. No error message. Cannot log in as local or domain administrator, account is disable.
Why does it work with my windows 7 x86 image and not with my windows 7 x64 image?
With my windows 7 x86 image the task sequence completed successfully with no error and it logon automatically in windows but not with my windows 7 x64 image.
Both task sequences are the same.
Let me know if any info for this please.
thanks

They should both work, perhaps you missed a step when creating the x64 image.
1. Verify that the Windows 7 x64 image was created cleanly, with no errors. Sysprep ran with no errors.
2. Verify that you created the windows 7 deployment task sequence cleanly. I would do a windiff of the TS.xml and unattend.xml file from both folders in the deployment share.
3. Try running without a domain. Some domain's have a GP set to disable the local administrator account.

  • Temporary profile when deploying Windows 7 x64

    Hi All
Using MDT I am deploying a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 task sequence which is extracted direct from the dvd WIM file.
This happens loging on as the local Administrator account when the task sequence starts to install applications and not on every computer or every time the task sequence is used, for example last week I imaged a room of 25 machines and 5 failed on the first
image, I reimaged these five and only 1 failed again. Yesterday I imaged a room of 30 and 25 out of the 30 have failed first time.
This causes a problem for certain application installations such as Java, Quick Time and App-V as the are self extracting installers which extract to the user profile, but fail as the user profile does not exist.
I have been through the bdd.log file for failed machines and the only errors I can see are when the individual applications fail. With lots of searching around I find the standard registry fix for a corrupt profile but nothing suggesting what would cause
this, especially on a clean deployment.
    Thanks in advance

OK, I'm going to work under the assumption that when some of your machines boot, you get the error:
"Your profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile."
You then experience application installation failures.
    Solution:
You may have a modified/corrupt version of the Windows 7 Ultimate media. You should validate its source. You will need to obtain a clean verified version of Windows 7.
Also, Windows 7 ultimate is a retail product. I suggest obtaining and deploying a corporate edition (Enterprise edition) as you are deploying APP-V (a corporate appliation).

  • MDT 2012U1 / Windows 8 deployment - impossible to add a role when deploying windows with language pack

    Hello,
I am having a problem deploying Windows 8 with language packs and adding at the same time a role/feature (netfx3).
What I have done is creating a Standard Client Task Sequence. In the task sequence I have added, in the State Restore phase, the step Install Roles and Features (where only .Net Framework 3.5 is selected). I have configured nothing else !
If I use this task sequence, everything is ok; Windows 8 is well deployed and NetFx3 feature is installed.
Now, if I add one or more language packs in the MDT console and select them when using the previously created task sequence, the deployment fails with one error : ERROR - NetFx3 role processing with DISM.exe failed, rc = -2146498529.
The language packs are well installed but as the error message says, NetFx3 is not installed.

As you can see, in both logfile, the source are copied from the same folder.
Does anyone have an idea ? what am I missing ?
I have easily reproduced the problem on another computer (installing ADK/MDT, installing OS and creating task sequence).
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Marc.

    Hello,
    Workaround:
    1. copy stock sxs folder to local disk (e.g c:\sxs)
    2. make a direct internet connection (don't use proxy!)
    3. open admin command prompt and type: DISM.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\sxs
    4. after the successful install find the c:\windows\winsxs folder and sort by date
    5. copy new folders (that are equal to current date) to deployment share's sxs folder (overwrite)
And now, try standard MDT install (create "Install Role And Feature" step in the Task Sequence, enable .NET install).

  • After updating to ios8, i tried to log into my instagram on my iphone 5c and it says my account is disabled when i never disabled it

ive tried to delete the instagram app multiple times and it still wont let me log in. also, i have had my friends log into my account, and they are able to log into my account. i have heard of other people that are also having the same problem.

    Hi Wendy
I to had the same problem when my account was disabled after my fiancé used my phone.
As I was being advised to contact apple support, being new to even itunes on my own account i checked in with them, and every thing I was being advised to do still disabled.
I was obsessing over this and was trawlling through guides etc just incase I had missed something.
As it turns out I had but no one had suggested it!
The morning I was going to go and let my frustration out on a member of the apple store I had one last look. Went into the account settings and realised my name was right address right account details were not. I changed these and now my app store has become my obsession. I could finally feel the same way about my iPhone as my friends did and still do about theirs.
Sorry it was long winded but I truely was getting annoyed and out played by my iPhone.
I do hope this helps you and your daughter.

  • Unexpected restarts when deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 updates

    Hi
I am deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 updates via SCCM 2012 sp1 and have a couple of questions
    Question 1)
The updates are made available to clients at 9am on a Tuesday morning.  The users get notification that updates are available to install.  If the user doesn't install the updates, the client will wait 24hrs and then install the updates automatically.
We have set the restart behaviour to 24hrs, so again, the user will get a pop up saying that their machine will restart in 24hours.  In my testing I have seen no more pop ups appear until 15 minutes before a restart is due and then a window appears
with a count down of 15 minutes but I think this might be standard behaviour.  I am not sure why there are options in the client settings to remind users frequently about the impending installation of update but not of impending restarts.  The
reason we delay the restart by 24hrs is to give the users the chance to restart their machines over night.  Is there a way of providing more notifications of computer restarts ?  The User Experience in the deployment of the updates is set to
Display in software center and show all notifications.  We have Group Policy set to Not Configured for Windows Updates apart from the user policy
Remove Access To All Windows Update Features which is set to 0 - Do not show any notifications.
    Question 2)
Another issue we have is that we have client machines restarting without any warning at all.  I have tested setting the user experience to suppress restarts but have the issue regardless.  It appears that this happens if the client
is off when the deployment schedule reaches its deadline and the restart time is missed.  I had one user who did restart her machine because she was prompted to restart.  When the machine came back up it looked like it installed another update and
then just resarted without any warning.  This hasn't happened often but a one user was on a Lync call when the restart occured and she was not happy.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Daniel
I have done an RSOP on a VM I am testing and only have the user policy :
Remove Access To All Windows Update Features which is set to
0 - Do not show any notifications.
    And the machine policy :
Specify intranet Microsoft update service location which is set to
Enabled The GPO Name is Local Group Policy
    The policies look OK.
As a test I have deployed some updates and set the user experience to
Display all notifications and set the Suppress restarts
for both Servers and Workstations.  When I deploy the updates, I get notifications that the updates are installing (when the deadline is met) and then I get a prompt telling me that a restart is required.  I also get a windo letting me restart now
or I can ask to be reminded in x number of hours.  This seems like expected behaviour.  It does not force a restart.  However if I leave the VM on over night I come in the following day and can see it has restarted.  looking at the WindowsUpdate.log I
can see that at 3:15am the line AUInvoking reboot system.  It looks like Windows Updates and not SCCM is forcing the restart.
    Thanks

  • How do you set default programs for all users when deploying Windows 8.1?

I have my Windows 8.1 image set up the way I want including the start screen, theme, etc. But how can I set the default programs for all users. Most of out computers are non-touch and I want the desktop apps (e.g. Windows Photo Viewer), not the store apps
to be the default for opening pictures, videos, etc. Can that be done?

Great question, this has been bugging me too!
So, I did some research by using "Set Default Programs" app in Windows 8. Then I ran the super ProcMon.exe tool from Sysinternals.com <Thanks Mark!>
After filtering out the junk, I could see some *interesting* writes to the registry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\UserChoice]
    "Hash"="57y87/ogggU="
    "ProgId"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Jpeg"
But the "Hash" part had me concerned. I did some internet searching for the hash, and came across a post and a pointer to a blog with some answers.  This is both good news and bad.
    Background:
One of the problems with Windows XP is that any program can come in and party on the entire system. No, I don't want you to put a shortcut on the desktop, install a crappy IE Toolbar, and change the default file association for *.jpg files to your app, I
just wanted to play a stupid game. Since Windows 7, Microsoft has been attempting to block that functionality from the stupid applications, and give them back to the user. Take note of the last line in the ITaskbarList3 interface:
Applications cannot programmatically pin themselves to the taskbar. That functionality is reserved strictly for the user.
Of course that sucks for us IT Pros who may wish to create *default* working environments for corporate images, but there are some tricks we can do.
    Solution:
This blog appears to have the answer:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/mrmlcgn/archive/2013/02/26/windows-8-associate-a-file-type-or-protocol-with-a-specific-app-using-a-gpo-e-g-default-mail-client-for-mailto-protocol.aspx
New for Windows 8 is a dism command: /Get-DefaultAppAssociations that allows you to export a control case from a known good computer. Microsoft the supports importing the exported xml file via GPO. For example, before I changed the file association, .AVI
was pointing to the Modern App, after the change the /export-DefaultAppAssociations shows change to the new app:
    From:
    <Association Identifier=".avi" ProgId="AppXhjhjmgrfm2d7rd026az898dy2p1pcsyt" ApplicationName="Video" />
    To:
    <Association Identifier=".avi" ProgId="VLC.avi" ApplicationName="VLC media player" />
I am still doing some investigation to see if a GPO is required, or if you can inject the association into a local user account. Also, if you do have some Modern Windows 8 Touch Tablets, it would recomend keeping most of the Modern App defaults in place,
perhaps seperate GPO's for Desktops/Laptops vs Tablets?

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 - Drivers Not Installing, Local Administrator Account Disabled

After PXE OSD for a Thick Image of Win 7 x64 Ent completes, several Task Sequence steps are not complete. Namely, 3 device drivers are missing (NIC, SM Bus and some other chipset driver), the built-in Administrator Account is disabled and it's not Domain
    joined.
I have already re-created the thick WIM twice. It was built in a VMware VM then captured with SCCM Capture Media. The NIC is a Realtek and I have downloaded the most recent version of the drivers from HP's site and added them to a driver package which is
deployed. I even added several older drivers to my Boot Image and created to 2 steps to add drivers in the Task Sequence - one automatically installs the best drivers, the other installs a package with 7 NIC drivers. When I get the error during PXE OSD, I
press F8 and the machine has an IP address and the driver for the NIC appears to be correct. Upon rebooting, Windows completes setup but the Administrator Account is not enabled and the NIC driver is missing, etc.
Here is the portion of the log where errors begin to show up (from D:\SMSTSLog). Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you for the reply, you're right the problem is with an image being applied, but not the OS image.
The issue is that for some reason, there were 2 images captured and SCCM automatically created a step for both. Image 2-2 is the valid Windows image, but image 1-1 clearly has some issues. I disabled the that step in the Task Sequence and it installed drivers
and completed the rest of the Task Sequence!

  • Administrator Account Disabled after sysprep and capture task sequence in MDT 2010

    Hi
We are currently migrating from Windows XP to windows 7.  As part of our migration we have 5 base Images (for different areas of the business)
Here is what we are doing:
Create a reference machine with the source files for windows 7 Pro x86
Install applications as part of the Task sequence to build a reference machine.
Make the updates to the machine - required for the build.
Run  the Sysprep and capture template to take the capture of the Reference machine.
Import the Capture into the Operating system folder within MDT2010
Create a task sequecne to deploy the image.
    Deploy the Image for Testing.
Deploy the image to a machine
Update the machine with the defects
Re Capture the deployed machine and call it ver2.wim
    re deploy ver2.wim
    Testers test
Defects logged + additional user settings to be captured in the build
Re capture and sysprep runs says the capture has been succesful however after a reboot the administrator account is disabled.
We cant seem to capture anything from here on in.  Nothing has been changed in the unattend.
Autologon is set to enable the administrator account and the password is set to blank as this is then handled by policy when the machine is joined to the domain - we have not enabled the unattended join to the domain at this point in time but it will be
    for deploying the image.
Have we got our image strategy wrong? does the same rule apply about sysprep running more than 3 times on a single machine if it is captured and redeployed after a sucessfully sysprep to the same hardware or even different hardware.

    Hi,
One of the things Sysprep/WAIK do is disable the adminsitrator account.
You mentioned that you are setting the autologing to the administrator account and that you are setting it with a blank password, you can add a simple command in to sysprep's xml to reenable the account:

Give it a try and let us know .

  • Msiexec /qn fails when its not run using the built-in local administrator account

    Hello all,
I am working on a project where I am trying to automate the deployment of VMs through a self-service portal.
Among other tasks such as clone VM, sysprep it, assign an IP, create AD computer object, join VM to domain and so on..., i need to install a few applications using msiexec, which is driving me crazy...
For this purpose, I am using a local user account part of the administrators group.
Please note, UAC is disabled on all the OS.
Basically, the msi installation works as expected on Windows 7 machines, however on Windows 8/2012, it fails due to lack of permissions. The curious thing is that if I use the built-in\administrator account instead for the deployment on those systems, the
    application is installed correctly.
I have tested some things such as: DisableMSI (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368304%28v=vs.85%29.aspx), but although it progresses a bit further, it keeps failing.
Does anyone know what I can do to allow an user part of the administrators local group to be able to install using msiexec /qn?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Does it work if you use the account in local admin, and run the commands prompt as administrator to install the msi file? Please know that Only the built in administrator account has admin privilege by default. On other admin accounts you need
to run with elevated privilege (ie runas).
I would like to know if you use SCCM to perform your deployment with task sequence.
As I known, even if you disable UAC, the following policy is still enabled to detect application installation.
    Computer configuration\Windows settings\Security Settings\Local
Policies\Security Options -> User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation policy
Please disable this policy to see if your issue can be fixed.

  • Hi, I am having trouble opening Final Cut on my Macand opens only when in the Administrator account. nyone know why please? Thanks

Having trouble opening Final Cut on my Mac and opens only when in the Administrator account and not when in Guest account. anyone know why please? Thanks

Yes... I can confirm this too...
If I load up my clips with no audio into the timeline, stuttering is there immediately.
Then I add an audio track to the timeline and the stutter vanishes.
Then, if I turn down the volume of the audio to zereo or - 46 dB. The stuttering reappears.
If, however, I place the cursor (Skimmer) in a clip prior to hitting play, the stutter vanishes yet again...
I adore FCPx and after getting to know it, there really is NO going back for me. This app is more than a decade ahead of its time and it's new. And still in a sort of beta-phase. At least that is what I tell myself so that I can deal with it ;-)
At least now we know ONE reason why stuttering appears and by identifying the problem, we can solve it !

  • After enabling the Built-in Administrator account, it is not shown on Welcome screen

    Hello,
    I have Windows 7 Starter SP1.
I have previously successfully enabled and then logged on, to the built-in administrator account,  and then when I had finished using it, disabled it again.
Unfortunately today, I found that when I enabled the built-in administrator account, it no longer appears on the Welcome screen.
I went through the process of enabling it by doing:
    Start/Search "CMD"/right-click CMD/Run as administrator.
    net user administrator active:yes
It confirms: "The command completed successfully."
However, when I log off and log back on (or do shut down and restart), the Welcome screen does not display any option for the Built-in Administrator account.
I have also tried doing the above in Safe mode, and also using Command Prompt from a Rescue disk.
    As background information:
The reason why I wanted to access this account today, was because I attempted to defrag a partition listed as "(1% fragmented)" and after Defrag appeared to complete while at "Pass 2",  the partition is still shown as 1% fragmented.
I would appreciate advice how to resolve the issue with the built-in administrator account.
    Regards,
    Robert339

    Hello Niki Han,
Thank you for your response. I have not yet had an opportunity to look into what you have written  but wish to thank you for that information.
Meanwhile, I would like to discuss the possible cause for this issue. I know the date when I last successfully accessed the built-in Administrator account, which was April 18, 2012.
Since I was last able to use that account on April 18, 2012, I have made no changes to the system other than install all Important Microsoft Updates through Windows Update.
A full scan with Windows Defender finds no threats.
A full scan with Avast finds no threats.
I beleive Microsoft may wish to ensure that this issue has not been caused by any of the following  30 updates. If it has been caused by one of these updates, then Microsoft should consider issuing a further update to correct this.

  • Cannot change anything in user account and family safety, even logging as an administrator account.

My 1st user account was an administrator account, 2nd user account was a standard account. 3rd user account was a guest account of window 8 single language, however i accidentally made a mistake by setting guest account from standard account to become an
administrator account. I also set down the 1st user account from administrator to standard account and after these stupid settings, the guest account becomes administrator account anyone can access in without any password, the 1st and 2nd accounts become standard
accounts! Before this mistake, the 1st user account was the main account of mine, 2nd and 3rd (guest account) were logged in very rarely.
The problem is when i logged in guest account as administrator, i cannot set the 1st or 2nd back to become another administrator account. Something has gone strange, it has been prevented me to set the others to be administrator and the guest back to standard
account. Being as an administrator account, the guest account was totally useless in changing settings. When i logged in with 1st and 2nd account, i also cannot change anything in the user account settings (change type of user account) and family safety, all
attempts to change the user account settings was useless such as i never tried. I also tried "refresh your computer without losing files" but not worked. Please provide me some advices!
I did not find the forum for win 8 single language, so i place my question here.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to go to safe mode of win 8 by holding the shift key while clicking "restart" on the login screen. (My login screen now shows 3 account users). Then i chose troubleshoot -> advanced options -> windows startup
settings-> i went to safe mode. The safe mode only showed a complete black screen with an only window: "Administrator: cmd.exe". I did as you said (typing NETPLWIZ) and the User accounts window appeared. I went to "properties" of each
user account and set 1st and 2nd accounts to Administrator but got the error: "This user cannot be added. Access is denied." and another error window: "Usert accounts: the group membership for ... could not be updated."
Yesterday, i went to elevated command prompt as an administrator and typed "net user administrator /active:yes" with hope that the built-in administrator would be activated and i would use it for full control settings of 3 other user accounts.
But i got the error: "system error 5. Access is denied."
Now, my position is quite bad. Login with guest account which was set as administrator, i still can not have full control of this laptop, so that all attempts of mine to change the user account settings is denied. This guest account also does not have a
password at all so that everyone can open my computer without typing a password. Because access is denied, i cannot set a password for the guest account even now it is the administrator account and i am loging in it.
p/s: I tried to refresh the system but still got the error: "There was a problem refreshing your PC. No changes were made". And i also tried to restore the system, but got the error: "System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's
system files and settings were not changed. Details: A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the Application event log for more information (0x80042302)"
I went in registry editor in safe mode and did as you said but there was no "AutoAdminLogon", "DefaultUserName", "DefaultPassword". I only saw "AutoLogonSID" and other different names...
The problem i got half year ago has still remained and recently i made this mistake. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/8ebd868c-bdfd-412e-95a6-9dc0095d431c/cannot-paste-any-online-pictures-from-any-websites-into-wordpowerpointonenote-2013?forum=officeitpro
I am a young woman who always creates mistakes when setting computer because of my carelessness.
    Hi,
These phenomenon should be access rights problem, you need to check your current system User Accounts status. In my opinion, your administrator account probably disabled.
Open Run, type LUSRMGR.MSC, press Enter.
Then check your current system account which Group they are belongs to.
If there is any progress, please feel free let me know.
